Joseph George Smelson, 86, died Saturday evening at his home.
Mr. Smelson, was a retired grocer and the former owner of George's Market
at the corners of Brook Street and Catherine, and convenience stores at the
corners of Preston and Outer Loop and also at Harvard and Dundee. He was
also a World War II army veteran, a member of Keneseth Israel Congregation
and Keneseth Israel Men's Club.
He is survived by: his wife, Ruthie Fine Smelson; two sons, Randy Smelson and
Steven Smelson; a brother, Arnold Smelson of Morgate, Florida; and two grand-
children.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:00pm with interment
following in the
Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon.

Claire Cohen Bramson, 89, lived a long blessed life adored by
her children & grandchildren. She was a member of The Temple,
the National Council of Jewish Women- Louisville section, The
Temple Sisterhood, and past president of the Jewish Ladies Benevolent
Society.
She is survived by her children: Lois and Jack Graller, Barbara and Peter
Harris; her loving grandchildren, Amy, Paul, Karen, Michael, Zachary,
Paula, Cesar, and Bill; her great grandchildren, Nora and Matthew; and
those who cared for and about her, Fred and Suzanne Hammel, Marilyn
Nathenson and Teresa Gurtz.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:00pm with interment
following in
The Temple Cemetery, 2716 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin after
12:00 noon.

Anita A. Zeiden, 71, died early Wednesday morning in Louisville.
She was the former Anita Arian, a member of Keneseth Israel
Congregation, Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women -
Louisville Section, AZO auxiliary and a recently retired teacher with
Louisville Hebrew School.
She is survived by: her husband, Melvin Zeiden; three daughters,
Shelly Freund, Laurie Zeiden, Sandy Weinstein of Cincinnati, Ohio; a
brother, Asher Arian of Israel; one grandson, Benjie Freund and one
granddaughter, Becca Freund.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm today with interment

in the Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane. Visitation will begin
after 2:00pm.

Kenneth A. Satton, 87, died Wednesday afternoon at University
of Louisville Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army
and of World War II, a retired salesman, a member of Anshei Sfard
Congregation, Past President of the Anshei Sfard men's club, St. George
Masonic Lodge and a member of Odom Club.
He is survived by one son, Jack Satton and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm today, with visitation
beginning after 12:00 noon. Interment
will follow the services in the Anshei
Sfard Cemetery, 721 Locust Lane.

Stanford G. Yussman, 70, died Sunday morning at Baptist
Hospital East. He was a member of Temple Shalom Congregation.
He is survived by: his wife, Raye Yussman; four sons, Michael,

and six grandchildren.

member of Anshei Sfard Congregation, Kiwanis Club of Shelbyville and
was the former owner of Brazin's in Shelbyville.
He is survived by two sons; Joel Sonnheim and Harry Sonnheim; and three
grandchildren.

Ryan L. Caster, 24, died Sunday in Florence, Oregon. He was a
High school English teacher and a resident of San Carlos, California.
Ryan was also a graduate student of Mount View in California.

(Wasserman) Caster; a sister, Dawn Caster; grandmother, Dorothy
Wasserman; and two grandfathers, Norman Wasserman and Maynard
Caster.

retired attorney with Monsanto Company in St. Louis, Missouri and was
a member of The Temple.

and Harry B. Liebman; and seven grandchildren.

a native of Bingem, Germany, the former Trudy Oppenheim,
and a member of B'nai Chaim.

Sylvia Levinson Goldstein, 85, died Tuesday, July 24 at her home.
She was a native of Greenville, Kentucky, a former teacher, master
bridge player and a community volunteer for more than 50 years. She
was a member of The Temple, National Council of Jewish Women,
B'nai B'rith, Hadassah, University of Kentucky Alumni Association,
and the Jefferson County Medical Society Auxiliary. She was the 1977
recipient of the National Council of Jewish Women's Henrietta Herzfeld
Award.
She is survived by: nieces, Judy Ann Eichenbaum of Montgomery, Texas,
Gay Levinson Harrison of Longwood, Florida, and Rita Hymson Steinberg
of Indianapolis, Indiana; nephews, Richard Glass of Seattle, Washington and
Sam Levinson of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and six great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today at 4:00pm with visitation beginning after
3:00pm.

Miss Zegart was a social worker.

Jack Toobin, 86, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital in St. Louis,
Missouri. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a Past
Master of St. George Lodge #239 F&AM.
He is survived by: two daughters, Gail Feinberg of St. Louis, MO and
Ann Wasserman of Minneapolis, Minnesota.; a son, Bernie Toobin of
Fort Worth, Texas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Miriam Toobin.
A graveside service will be held today at the Anshei Sfard Cemetery,
721 Locust Lane, at 11:00am.

Jack Goldberg, 86 died Friday in Plantation, Florida. For forty years, he was
the owner of United Shoe Co. and he was a member of Keneseth Israel
Congregation.
He is survived by: his wife, Frances Solomon Goldberg, of Lauderhill, Florida;
a daughter, Renee Leizerman of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Ida Sontz and Libby
Orlansky; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceeded
in death be his previous wife, Miriam Weinberg Goldberg.
Funeral services will be held today at 11:00am Interment
will follow in the
Keneseth Israel Cemetery.

Jane Lois Hymson, 75, the former Jane Lois Cohen, died Friday
at Baptist Hospital East.
She is survived by: her husband, Daniel Hymson; two sons, Michael
and Sidney Hymson; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Isaacs Hymson.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery.
