Margot Luther died Thursday morning at the Hurstbourne Care
Center at Stoneybrook. She was a retired bookkeeper for United Shoe
Company, a member of The Temple, Hadassah, Four Courts Auxiliary
and The Pilot Club of Louisville.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margerete Volmer and
three grandchildren.
A 3:00pm graveside funeral will be held today at The Temple Cemetery,
2716 Preston Highway.
Memorial gifts may be given to Hadassah.

Zina Rubinova, 87, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital. She
was a retired hair dresser and a native of Russia.
She is survived by: one son, ,Ilusha Abayev; two daughters,
Luba Davidov of Israel and Shura Rabgenou of Austria; 12
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:00pm with interment
following in Anshei Sfard Cemetery. Visitation will begin after
12:00 noon.

Anna Oppenheimer, 90, died Tuesday at Four Courts Senior
Center. She was a member of The Temple.
She is survived by: one son, Houston Oppenheimer; one
daughter, Lottie Samuel; five grandchildren and fifteen great
grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at The Temple Cemetery,
2716 Preston Highway at 1:00pm.
Memorial donations may be given to The Temple or to Four Courts
Senior Center.

Dr. Martin R. Baron passed away Saturday, March 16. He was born in
Stamford, CT. He was a graduate of Yale University where he received a
B. A. Degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. He
received his M. A. and PhD. from the University of Iowa. He was a Professor
of Psychology at Kent State University and came to the University of Louisville
Psychology Department in 1971. As a professor, he was Chairman of the
Department of Psychology from 1971-1972. He was acting Dean of College of
Arts & Sciences from 1972-1973. He was Assistant Executive Vice President
for Planning from 1976-1981. He was Associate Editor of Behavioral Sciences
and in 1986 he became Professor Emeritus.
He was a member of: the American Psychological Association; The Midwestern
Psychological Association; The Southeastern Psychological Association; the
Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology; Sigma Chi Fraternity; and
The Temple.
He was: an Army veteran of WWII; a chairman of the Social Action Committee
at The Temple; served on the board of trustees of The Temple; a former Board
Member of Jewish Family and Vocational Service; a member of the Board of
Directors of Coalition for the Homeless of Louisville & Jefferson County.
He served on the Board of Directors of Seven Counties Services and he
served on the Board of Neighborhood Development Corporation of Old Louisville.
He was listed in Who�s Who in America in 1973 and every year thereafter.
He is survived by: his wife, Joy Gray Baron; three daughters, Carol Burch of
Ocala, FL, Cynthia Keohane of Richardson, TX and Marcia Baron of Bloomington,
IN; one sister, Barbara Segal of West Haven, CT; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00pm at The Temple,
5101 US Highway 42.

Sugar Perelmuter Hanish, 76, died Tuesday. She was the former
Sugar Plasko, a native of Detroit and a member of Anshei Sfard
Congregation.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sol M. Perelmuter and
by her second husband, Ralph Hanish.
She is survived by: one son, Dr. Mark Perelmuter; a daughter, Sharon
Nussbaum; a brother, Joe Plasko of North Palm Beach, Florida; and
three grandsons, Scott Nussbaum, Stuart and Todd Perelmuter.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:00pm with interment
following in
the Anshei Sfard Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon.

Harold F. Berg MD, 83, died Wednesday, March 13 at Jefferson Place.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a graduate of University
of Louisville and its Medical School. After his internship, at the old
Louisville General Hospital, he served in the Army Medical Corps in WWII
in the Pacific Theatre combat for three years. During this time he achieved
a field promotion to the rank of Major and received two bronze stars and a
purple heart after being wounded in the Philippines. Following a 5-year
surgical residency, he also did research in nuclear medicine in Oak Ridge, TN.
After that, he began his general surgery practice at Jewish Hospital.
He retired in 1985. He was a professor at the University of Louisville Medical
School, starting in 1961. Dr. Berg received the Maimonides Award in 1982 and
was President of the Jewish Hospital Medical Staff from 1984-85. He gave
and received great pleasure from his hobby as a mosaicist creating a body of
close to two hundred works, which he donated to many parts of the world.
He was a member of the Louisville Surgical Society, the American College of
Surgeons, the Southern Surgical Society, Kentucky Medical Association,
Jefferson County Medical Association, The Jewish Community Center and
The Temple.
He is survived by: his wife, Pearl; four daughters, Amy Bewley of Vine Grove,
Kentucky, Lauren Berg of Portland, OR, Dena Nelson and Dr. Karen Berg; sister,
Mrs. Nettie Rieger of New York City; and 9 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm today with visitation beginning after
1:00pm. Interment
will follow in The Temple Cemetery.

Levinstein Harryette, 74, died Friday. She was a member of Keneseth Israel
Congregation and was Past President and secretary of B'nai Brith Women's
Bowling League. She is survived by her twin sister, Helene M. Goldman.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00pm at the family lot in Keneseth
Israel Cemetery today. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the donor's
favorite charity.

Sidney Krebs, 81, died Tuesday. He was a member of Anshei Sfard
Congregation, St. George Masonic Lodge, the owner of F & S Food
Market, owner of Sidney's Clothing Store, co-owner of the Brown
Suburban Dinner Theater, and a sales representative for numerous
clothing lines.
He is survived by: Florence Schwartz Krebs, his loving wife of 59 years;
a daughter, Sally Judah; two sons, Larry of Louisville and Martin of
Birmingham, Alabama; and 3 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 3:00pm with visitation beginning
after 2:00pm. Interment
will follow in the Anshei Sfard Cemetery, 721 Locust
Lane.

Gertrude K. Feldbaum, 93, died Monday morning at Jewish Hospital.
She was a party planner extraordinaire and a member of: Keneseth
Israel Congregation, Keneseth Israel Sisterhood, National Council of
Jewish Women - Louisville Section, Jewish Community Center, Chevra
Kaddisha and a contributing member of Jewish Family and Vocational
Service.
She is survived by numerous family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm today at the Keneseth
Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane.

Jacob (J. I.) Goldstein, 80, died Thursday evening at Baptist Hospital East.
He graduated from University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy with top
honors. He was a former owner of Fairmeade Pharmacy, co-owner of First
Link Pharmacy, he was a pharmacist with the Kentucky State Reformatory
and was a past president of the Kentucky Society of Pharmacists. He was
a member of: Temple Shalom, Temple Shalom Men's Club, B'nai Brith,
the Jewish Community Center, and Alpha Zeta Omega Fraternity.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Waldman and Larry Waldman of San
Francisco, California; two daughters, Jeannie Magee and Deborah Dorn, both
San Diego, California; and four grandchildren, Lauren, Jena, Andrew and
Catlin Waldman.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm today with visitation beginning after
2:00pm. Interment
will follow in the Cave Hill Cemetery.

Lillian Peromchek, 96, died Friday at Norton Suburban Hospital.
She was a retired salesman from Schlossberg Shoes on Preston
Highway.
She is survived by her son, Herb Peromchek and one nephew, Bill
Harter of Indianapolis.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am today at the Anshei Sfard
Cemetery, 721 Locust Lane.

Frances (Berg) Wolfson, died Sunday afternoon at Norton Suburban Hospital.
She was the former Frances Yaden. Mrs. Wolfson was the first vice president of
the American Society of Travel Agents and in 1976, founded Windward Travel.
She is survived by: 3 sons, Martin, of Spokane, Washington, Dr. Jeffery and
Stephen R. Berg; 1 daughter, Kathy Wolfson; 1 brother, Ray Yaden of
London, Kentucky; 3 sisters, Mildred Melton, Joann Roberts of London, Kentucky
and Mary Elizabeth Cornett of Somerset, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Andrew,
Katherine, Nicholas, Jessica and Aaron Berg.
