Yelena Voloshchenko, 76, died Wednesday evening at Baptist
Hospital East. She was a native of the Ukraine and a bookkeeper
in the automotive industry.
She is survived by: her husband, Leonid Zingerman; one daughter,
Laura Vilensky; one son, Vladislav Voloshchenko; two grandchildren
and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held today at 3:00pm. Friends may visit the
family anytime after 2:00pm. Interment
will follow in The Temple
Cemetery.

Emma Berezkina, 57, died Thursday at Jewish Hospital. She
was in food service at Piccadilly Cafeteria and a member of The
Temple.
She is survived by: her husband, Yakov Berezkin; a daughter,
Stacy Berezkina; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be held today at 2:00pm with visitation beginning
after 1:00pm.

Marleen Ungar 57, died Monday at her residence . She was the former
Marleen Beck and a native of Newark NJ. She was a sales person in advertising and
a member of Temple Shalom. She is survived by: her husband Alan; son Bart and (Leslie)
Ungar; two daughters, Robin Ungar and Michele and (Alec) Volz; mother Trudy Beck of
Union, New Jersey; and sister, Lesley Rogers of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The Funeral will be at 11:00am today at Temple Shalom with interment
in Cave Hill Cemetery.

Betty D. Zegart, 84, died Saturday. She was the former Betty Davis and a
member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, Hadassah, Standard Country Club
and Jewish Community Center.
She is survived by her husband, Irvin Zegart; a daughter, Bonnie Toborowsky;
grandchildren, Dr. Robert and Andrea Stoler, Kevin Stoler and Kimberly and
Jason Donaldson; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am today at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery,
`2926 Preston Highway.

Ralph Covitt, 90, died Saturday at Belmont Village. A native of Cleveland,
Ohio, he was the founder and president of the old Allied Drum Service.
Building his own machinery, he located his first reconditioning plant at
2424 Duncan in 1937. He moved his business to the old Mengel property
on 4th Street near the University of Louisville after donating the land where
his first business was to the West End Boys Club. He remained there until
1984, when he sold his company to Queen City Barrel of Cincinnati, Ohio
and retired.
As president of Allied Drum Service, he was one of the leaders in the drum
reconstruction business in the country. A founding member of NABADA
(National Barrel and Drum Association), he was an outspoken man of strong opinion.
In 1953, he was appointed to the National Executive Committee, on which he served
for 20 years. In 1986, he was awarded honorary lifetime membership and a permanent
plaque in his honor was placed in the NABADA office in Washington, DC.
He did business worldwide and was instrumental in defending trade with Mexico as
far back as 1940, shipping barrels to Merida for the export of honey. His company was
featured in The Courier-Journal's Sunday Magazine on November 30, 1952, in the
article entitled "Tune Up for Drums" by Herman Landau and Barry Bingham Jr.
He was a member of The Temple, Standard Country Club, St. George Masonic Lodge,
Scottish Rite and Kosair Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hyman and Toba Itskovitz, immigrants who
fled the Romanian programs for America in the late 1890s. His parents settled in
Cleveland, Ohio. Ralph was always proud of them and their indomitable spirit.
When he offered to take his mother on a trip back to Romania, she replied, "I walked
halfway across Europe, from Romania to Rotterdam, to get here. Why would I even
want to go back. I love America."
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.
He is survived by his son, Michael Covitt, and daughter-in-law, Robin, of
Crestwood; and a sister, Esther Kottler of Cleveland.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am today at The Temple Cemetery 2716 Preston
Highway.

Evelyn Cohen Wein, 87, died Wednesday morning at Muhlenberg
Community Hospital. She was the former owner of Wein Auto Parts in
Greenville, Kentucky. She was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun
in Louisville and a member of Eastern Star in Greenville. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Harold Wein.
She is survived by: one brother, Julius Cohen of Greenville; two sisters, Louise
C. Baker and Hazel Becker of Mobile, Alabama; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Her funeral will be held at 1:00pm today with visitation beginning after noon.
Burial will be held in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway.

Miriam Flusberg, 86, died Thursday afternoon at Hospice & Palliative Care
of Louisville's Inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion. She was a former
member of Beth Aaron Synagogue in Brooklyn, New York and a life member of
Hadassah and B'nai Brith Women.
She is survived by: her husband, Bob; daughter, Eileen and her husband, Ben
Z. Hershberg; and four grandchildren, Raanan, Rachel, Esther and Jacob Hersh-
berg.
Funeral services will be held today at 2:00pm with visitation beginning after 1:15pm.
Interment
will be in Anshei Sfard Cemetery on Locust Lane.

Charles R. Isenberg, 81, died Saturday at his residence. He was a native of
Providence, Rhode Island, moving to Louisville when he was 12 years old.
He attended both Male High School and U of L, where he played football and
was inducted into the Hall of Fame of each. He was selected to Williamson
Little All Americans Football team. He attended University of Louisville Law School.
He was a founding partner in the former law firm of Segal, Isenberg, Sales and Stewart.
At the time of his death he was a partner in the law firm of Priddy, Isenberg, Miller
and Meade. He was a member of: The American Bar Association, Indiana Bar
Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, The Temple,
The Jewish Community Center and the L Club at University of Louisville. He was
a former board member of both Jewish Hospital and the Jefferson County Board of Health.
He is survived by: daughter, Susan Fran Isenberg of New York City; son, James E.
Isenberg; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am with visitation after 10:00am. Interment
will
follow in The Temple Cemetery, 2716 Preston Highway.

Shirley B. Abramson, died Friday at Four Courts Senior Center. She served in the
US Army during World War II, so that her older brother, who was married with a child,
did not have to serve. While in the Army, she met Roy Abramson, whom she married
on January 28, 1945. She was a member of B'nai Brith Women, Amit Women, Keneseth
Israel Congregation, Keneseth Israel Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Woman-
Louisville Section, Hadassah, City of Hope, Temple Shalom and Temple Shalom Sisterhood.
She is survived by: her children, Jerry and Madeline Abramson and Sheilah and Stanley
Miles; brother Barry Botwick of Hartford, Connecticut; and four grandchildren, Seth and
Susan Miles, Heather Miles and Sidney Abramson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm with interment
in Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719

of Louisville's Inpatient unit at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was
a commercial electrician with Fischer Meat Packing Company.
He is survived by: two daughters, Bethany and Holly Smelson;
his mother, Ruthie Fine Smelson; a brother, Randy Smelson; and
girlfriend, Debbie Hasken.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Smelson.

Lena Mae Goldberg Roehm, 88, died Wednesday at Four Courts Senior
Center. She was retired after 25 years with the old Bycks Red Cross Shoes.
She is survived by: 2 sons, Jack Goldberg and his wife, Anita, and Murrel
Aaron Goldberg and his wife, Joan of Memphis, Tennessee; a sister, Juanita
Grash; a brother, Joe Drake; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and
five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 1:00pm with
entombment following. Visitation will begin after 11:00am at the cemetery
chapel.

Raye (Cohn) Yussman, 70, died Monday at the palliative care unit at
Baptist Hospital East. She was a member of Temple Shalom and a former
member of Anshei Sfard. She was the founder and proprietor of the St.
Matthews Icon Festive Hall, the first full service party supply and deco-
rating center in Louisville.
Raye was recently preceded in death by her husband, Stanford.
To Raye and Stan, family and friends meant everything. They are survived
by Harris, Andrea and Genna Yussman; Gordon Hamilton; Steven Michael,
Nina, Justin and Melissa Yussman; Stacy, Oliver, Maury and David Yussman;
Jeff, ZoeAnn, Ben and Rachel Yussman; Sarah and Myles Davidson; Mark and
Ben Kohn; Shirley and Sidney Perchik; and many more loving friends and
family members.

Jodi L. Lapin, 40, died Tuesday morning at her home. She was
a health care consultant, a physician administrator and the secretary of
the PTA at Brandies Elementary School. She was the chair of the Educa-
tion Committee of Congregation Adath Jeshurun and a former board member
of Jewish Community Center of Louisville. She was a member of Congre-
gation Adath Jeshurun, the Children's Committee at the Jewish Community
Center and the National Council of Jewish Women-Louisville Section. She
was awarded the Chai Young Leadership Award, given by the Jewish Fed-
eration of Louisville.
She is survived by: her husband, Dr. Sanford Lapin; one son, Jacob; two
daughters, Alyssa & Tobie; two brothers, Michael Feld of Wilmette, Illinois
and Cary Feld of Berkley, California; and her parents, Beatrice & Alvin Feld.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm at Congregation Adath Jeshurun, 2401
Woodbourne Avenue. Visitation will begin after 2:00pm. Interment
will be in
the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery.
