Shirley Lebovitz Baach, 80, died at home after a long illness. She was preceded
in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack E. Baach, founder of JEB Advertising
and the former Baach's Children's Shop. Shirley was a devoted mother to Margo
Marchant and Amy Baach of Louisville and step-grandmother to Danielle Shabazz
of Seattle, Washington. She was loved by her many caretakers, including Lacey
Perkins, Tonette Perkins, Dee Kennedy, Rose Brown and Linda Simpson. Over her
Lifetime, Shirley volunteered for many organizations, including Jewish Hospital,
Hadassah, and The Temple. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and
graduated from Ohio State University. Donations should go to the Movement
Disorder Program, University of Louisville School of Medicine, 500 South Preston,
Louisville, Kentucky 40202 or to Hospice.
A graveside service will be held today (Sunday) at 2:00pm at The Temple Cemetery,
2614 Preston Highway.

Marvin Alan Waldman, 86, died on Thursday in Boca Raton, Florida.
He was a graduate of Male High School and the University of Kentucky
School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated the old Marvin's Pharmacy and
Red Bull liquor stores. He was also a successful breeder of race horses, having
bred 1976 Kentucky Derby winner, Bold Forbes. He was the former owner
of Indian Hill Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruthie Fay Waldman; a sons, Terry Waldman
and Ric Waldman of Lexington; daughters, Susan Cohen of Ridgewood, New Jersey
and Karen Russ of Fort Lee, New Jersey; sisters, Goldye Greenburg and Cassye
Silverstein; and brother, David "Babe" Waldman; six grandchildren; and three great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Sunday) at 1:00pm. Visitation will beginafter
12:00 noon with interment
being in the Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust
Lane.

Charlotte Levine Rosenthal, 89, died Thursday in Lexington, Kentucky.
Widow of Joseph Rosenthal, mother of Bernie Rosenthal and Bob Rosenthal
of Lexington, KY. Proud grandmother of Julie Halpern, Englewood, NJ, Dori
Rosenthal, Hollywood Hills, CA, Jonathan Rosenthal, N. Miami Beach, FL,
Cameron Rosenthal, Lexington, KY, and Keene Rosenthal, Lexington, KY.
Charlotte is also survived by two beautiful great grandchildren, Hannah and
Sarah Halpern of Englewood, NJ. They affectionately called her 'Chuckie in
Kentucky.' She is also survived by a sister, Judy Sweitzer.
Charlotte co-founded Sportswear mart and actively worked both there and in
her son's family business, Pix Sample Shoes.
Whenever those in the family were in need, Charlotte's home was always open
through the years. Charlotte was strong, elegant, and loved by all. She had a
sweet nature and a sharp wit. Mom-mom will be missed but never forgotten.
A graveside service will be held at Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane
at 1:00 pm today (Friday).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Levine.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Florence Kerman;
sister-in-law, Harriet Zuckerman; nieces and nephews, Marcie Zuckerman
and Norman Kupferman, Lucy and Mark Kerman and Dr. Kenny and Sylvia
Kerman; and great nephews, Lance and Paulie Kerman.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm today (Friday) at the Adath Jeshurun
Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway.

Herman "Hy" Wexler, 79, died Sunday night at Hospice and Palliative Care
of Louisville - Inpatient Unit. He was the former owner and manager of the old
Gordon's Furniture. He was a veteran of World War II and of the Korean War.
He was a member of both Keneseth Israel Congregation and the VFW.
Hy was an avid musician and pianist, as well as a compassionate lover of music.
He is survived by: his wife, the former Barbara Gordon; son, Gary Wexler and his
wife, Tamme of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Audrey N. Jansen and her husband,
David of Madison, Wisconsin; sister, Delores Hric and her husband, Andrew of
Sarasota, Florida; brother, Manny and Sharon Wexler; and grandchildren,
Joshua, Corley, and Ansley Wexler and Jacob Jensen.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1:00pm with interment
following in the Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane. Visitation will
begin after 12:00 noon.

Daniel Hymson, 86, of Louisville, died Saturday at Four Courts Senior Center.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from radio advertising.
Survivors include two sons, Sidney L. Hymson and his wife, Barbara Isaacs Hymson,
and Michael T. Hymson and his wife, Karen Strauss, and two grandchildren,
Benjamin and Clinton Morrison. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Monday)
with interment
in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will
begin at 1 p.m. Monday.

Eva Heller, 102, died Thursday at her residence. She was a native of Russia
and co-owner of Heller Drugs , 1731 W. Chestnut Street, until 1967. She was a
member of Anshei Sfard Congregation, Hadassah, National Council of Jewish
Women - Louisville Section, Anshei Sfard Sisterhood and Amit Women.
She is survived by her daughter, Clarice H. Berman and her husband, Stanley of
Armonk, New York and daughter-in-law, Nancy Heller of Port Washington, New
York. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Caroline Heller, Katherine Heller,
Lisa Heller Bass, Mark Berman and Steven Berman, as well as 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Sunday) at 11:00am with interment
in the
Anshei Sfard Cemetery, 721 Locust Lane. Visitation will begin after
10:00am.

Nikhama Gorelik, 77, died Sunday at Jewish Hospital. She was a native of Russia
and a member of The Temple.
She is survived by: her husband, Grigoriy Gorekik; son, Simon Gorelik of Haifa,
Israel; daughter, Jane Lipskaya; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday) at 3:00pm with visitation beginning
after 2:00pm. Interment
will take place in The Temple Cemetery, 2614 Preston Highway.

Raymond Smith, died Friday at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home. He was a retired purchasing manager
for H.J. Scheirich, where he worked for 40 years, a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps and a veteran of
World War II and the Korean War, a member of The Temple and Beargrass Christian Church and a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Netter) Smith; son, Roger Smith and his wife, Kathy; daughter, Linda
Fields and her husband, Stan; stepson, Barry Cohen and his wife, Robin; stepdaughter, Janice Finerty
and her husband, James; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Sunday) where visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in The Temple Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Beargrass
Christian Church, 4100 Shelbyville Road.

Mike Hyman, 93, died Friday at Jewish Hospital.
He was the retired owner of Thrifty Fabric Shop at 5th and Market Streets,
an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of Keneseth Israel Congregation.
He is survived by his nephews: Richard Frank and his wife, Marilyn, Steve
Hyman and his wife, Peggy, Roy Hyman and his wife, Janie, Edwin Cohen
Alan Cohen and Neil Samuels and his wife, Teresa; great nieces and nephews;
and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held today (Sunday) at 1:00 p.m. at Keneseth Israel
Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane.

Joshua Ray Vernon, died Wednesday, February 11. He was a chef.
Survivors include his mother, Kathy Vernon Zohn, of Byhalla, Mississippi;

Chance Watson; grandparents, Roma and Lee Hughes of Kilgore, Texas, and

Martin Ellis "Marty" Goldstein 54, formally of Louisville died February 4, in Denver, CO.
Marty grew up in Louisville and graduated from Michigan State University and University of
Louisville School of Law. He was a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
The dear man is survived by his daughters, Robin and Rachel Goldstein of Denver, CO, and his mother Phyllis
Goldstein, his sister Debra Hutchinson, his brother Alan Goldstein, his brother in-law Rick
Hutchinson and two nephews Benjamin and Ari Hutchinson all of Louisville. A memorial service
will be held today at 1 p.m. at Temple Shalom 4615 Lowe Road,.
