Nettie Yanoff Schwartz, 94, died Tuesday morning at Four Courts Senior Center.
She was a former art and science teacher in the Louisville Public school system.
Among her many accomplishments, Nettie published an art book entitled Painting
With A Needle. She traveled extensively throughout the world. Her greatest joy
was sharing her experiences and artwork with others. Indeed, she was a woman
ahead of her time.
She is survived by her son, Neil "Buddy" Schwartz and his wife, Eleanor,
of Louisville; two daughters, Susan Cohen of Danville, California, and Jean Trager
and her husband, Bernard, of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 7 p.m. today (Thursday)
at Congregation Adath Jeshurun, 2401 Woodbourne Avenue.
Memorial gifts may be made to Four Courts Senior Center, the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dennis "Butch" Milligan, 59, died Sunday, January 11, 2004. He was retired from
the Louisville Police Department after 20 years of service. He was a member of
Lodge #6 Fraternal Order of Police, Elks Lodge #8 and Louisville Police Officers
Association and founding president of J&H Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Milligan and Darrell Milligan; daughter, Marlene
Koenig of Lamar, IN; father, Edward Milligan of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Kelli Milligan-
Bader; and grandchildren, Alex, Madison and Kora Milligan and Wyatt Koenig.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Holy Family Catholic Church,
3926 Poplar Level Rd., with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5
and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Ave.

Lee "Doc" Morguelan, 79, died Saturday. He was a navy veteran of World
War II. During his lifetime, he was co-owner of St. Matthews Chrysler
Plymouth and the Greyhound Supermarket. "Doc" was a member of B'nai Brith
Jewish Community Center, Adath Jeshurun Congregation and The Temple.
He is survived by: his wife, Marianne; children, James Morguelan and Debbie
his wife and David Weinstein; and grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan, Suzanne,
Jaclyn and Hillary.
The funeral will be held at noon today (Tuesday ) with visitation beginning
after 11:00am. Burial will take place in the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston
Highway.

Mary Rothschild Dewig, 80, died December 28, 2003, in Los Angeles, California.
She was a retired medical technician.
She is survived by: her brother, Edward Rothschild; nephews, Dr. Edward and
Dr. Peter Rothschild; and nieces, Diane Grosswab and Nancy Rosen.
A graveside service will be held today (Sunday) at 2:00pm at The Temple Cemetery,
2416 Preston Highway.

Zelda Pearlman, 88, died at Norton Audubon Hospital on Thursday morning.
She was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun and the Jewish Community
Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Simone Strange, two grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon today (Sunday) with visitation beginning
after 9:00am Sunday. Burial will be in the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery.

She was a retired bookkeeper and secretary with the old Strode Furriers and a

Norman J. Applebaum, 63, died Wednesday at Norton Suburban Hospital.
After retiring as an insurance salesman, he worked as a telephone consultant
with Southern Research Services. He was a member of Temple Shalom and the
Jewish Community Center.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Bailen Applebaum; a son, Stephen Applebaum;
a daughter, Michelle Stevens; a brother, Gerald Applebaum of Houston, Texas;
and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm today (Friday) with visitation beginning after
1:00pm. Interment
will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery.

William W. Singlust, 79, died Monday at Baptist Hospital East.
He was a retired Insurance agent, a volunteer at Jewish Hospital,

He is survived by a son, Greg Singlust; daughters, Robin Applewhite and
Polly Haering of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brian and
Kelly Haering; and his companion, Doris Benjamin.
His funeral will be held at 2:00pm today (Wednesday) with burial following
in The Temple Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 1:00pm.

Adelaide Shultz "Shultzie" Morrison, 85, died on Sunday morning at Hospice
& Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.
She was the former executive director of Four Courts, Louisville Hebrew Home
(from 1968-1981), a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, National Council
of Jewish Women, Louisville Section, Amit Women, Doret, Simon Weisenthal
Center, Salvation Army, The American College of Nursing Home Administrators,
an associate member of the American Committee of the Weitzman Institute of Science
and a Kentucky Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Philip Shultz and Harold Morrison.
She is survived by a daughter, Adrienne Shultz; step-sons, Andrew and Philip
Morrison; three grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday) at 2:00pm with
visitation beginning after 1:00pm. Burial will be in the Adath Jeshurun Cemetery,
2926 Preston Highway.

He was a native of New York and a retired sales manufacturer representative.

Arnold M. Judd, 88, died Tuesday at Baptist East.
He founded the firm of Arrasmith & Judd Architects and Engineering.
He was a past member of the board of trustees of The Temple, a
member of Standard Country Club and The Temple, past president and member of the
American Institute of Architects and of its Kentucky and local chapters and a
member of the Jewish Community Center.
He is survived by: his wife, the former Harriet Frankel; sons, Bruce Judd of
California and Arne Judd; daughters, Lisa Judd Foley of Charlotte, North
Carolina, and Beth Judd Stephens of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother, Morris
Judd of Greeley, North Carolina; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at The Temple, 5101 US Highway 42
today (Friday) at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin after 11:00am.
Interment
will take place in The Temple Cemetery, 2416 Preston
Highway.

Edith Balf, 91, died Wednesday.
She was a retired medical technologist for Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York,
New York, where she worked for 40 years and a graduate of Hunter College.
She is survived by her cousins, Nancy and Oliver Balf of Rockport, MA, and
Nancy Sue Balf.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 3:00pm. Visitation will begin
at 2:00pm. Interment
will be in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery.
