Dan (Dino) Glattstein, age 79, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 1:30 a.m.
He was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun and the Jewish Community Center.
A Holocaust survivor, Dan knew no bitterness but blessed the lives of his innumerable friends with his understanding, humor, compassion and ability to live life to its fullest. He enriched the lives of all who were privileged to know him.
He is survived by: his wife, Gila; his son Uri (Marilyn); and grandchildren, David and Emily Glattstein.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roni.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to one of the following: Yad Vashem: The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority Museum in Israel, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. or to a charity of one's choice.

Dr. Eli H. Jaffe, 85, died Sunday at Jewish Hospital.
He was the founder and owner of Dispensers Optical Services from 1954 - 1985. After Eli sold his business, he was a relief optometrist for various optometrists and was the past president of the National Association of Manufacturing Opticians. He was a past -president of The Louisville Hebrew School, former vice-president of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, he was the founder of The High School of Jewish Studies, a member of B'nai Brith, and received a Bronze Star in the Army during WWII . He was also the creator of the "NEWS DAD" newsletter and website.
He is survived by: his wife of almost 60 years, Annalee; daughter, Irene Karp (James); sons, Irvin (Mindy) and Robert (Susan); his sister, Jeanette Schwartz; and grandchildren, Jordan (Meredith) Karp, Elly (Tony) Wong, Rella, Jamie, Rebecca, and David Jaffe; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Wong.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 (today) at 3:00pm at the funeral home, with burial in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin after 2:00pm Monday.

Judge Leon M. Eichenholz, 89, died Friday at Jefferson Place.
Judge Eichenholz was a graduate of Male High School, the University of Louisville Law School and in 1977, he was elected District Court Judge for 2 terms. He was the recipient and founder of the Johnny Unitis Golden Arm Director Award. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, Past Master of St. George Masonic Lodge #239 F&AM, Scottish rite, Kosair Shrine Temple, a member of the Sportsman's Club at the University of Louisville and an avid supporter of U of L sports.
His wife, Geraldine Galanter Eichenholz preceded him in death.
Judge Eichenholz is survived by: daughter, Harriet Eichenholz Jones (Michael); son, Richard Eichenholz (Annie); and grandchildren, Miranda and Aaron Jones and Leah Eichenholz.
A graveside service will be held at 3pm Sunday, November 26, 2006 (today), at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway.

Melvin Perlman, PhD, 81, died Friday, November 17, 2006.
He was a graduate of the University of Chicago, with a PhD in psychology, former chief of psychology at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute and staff psychologist at Veteran Administration Hospital in Downey, Illinois. He was a veteran of World War II, and beloved husband of the late Miriam (Goodman) Perlman.
He was the cherished father of Sheri Weyhing (Jeff); loving "gampa" of Brandon and Krista; dear brother of Eddie (the late Elka) and the late Shirley (Ernie) Jacob; fond uncle; and friend to many.
Dr. Perlman was laid to rest today in Chicago, Illinois next to his wife of 51 years. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Herman Meyer & Son, in celebration of his distinguished life and career.

Betty Nidoff Kurtzweig, 80, died November 18, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was a retired social worker, a member of the Ohev Zedek Sisterhood and a former member of Ohev Zedek in Youngstown, Ohio.
She is survived by her: daughters, Beth Godstein of Louisville and Diane DeHart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and 3 grandchildren.

Bernard Herzberg, 86, died Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2006 at Norton Suburban Hospital.
He was a retired accountant with International Harvester, member of The Temple, a member of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #506 and Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mona.
Bernard is survived by: his daughter, Lisa Echsner (TJ); son, Larry Herzberg (Sherry) of Winston - Salem, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Daniel and William Herzberg and Kate and Maddi Echsner.
A 1:00pm funeral service will be held Tuesday (today) at the funeral home, with visitation beginning after 12:00 noon Tuesday. Burial will follow in The Temple Cemetery, 2716 Preston Highway.

Julia Pampel Silletto, a long time resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, who moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2004, passed away Thursday at age 89.
She was born in London, England on July 1, 1917 and immigrated to the United States in 1920. She and her family lived in the Boston, Massachusetts area before moving to Manchester in 1932. She graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1936.
She was married to Charles Silletto in 1941 and they later divorced.
After graduation from high school, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several firms in the Manchester, New Hampshire area. During WWII, she worked in a Civil Service position at Grenier Field, a US Army Air Corps base in Manchester. After the war, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Granite State Bag Company and at the Manchester Jewish Community Center. She also worked for Northern Foods ' a Howdy Beefburger, Dunkin' Donut and Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee in Concord, New Hampshire, until her retirement in 1995.
Mrs. Silletto is survived by: her son, John, of Louisville; grandsons, Aaron of Louisville and Micah of Lexington, Kentucky; and her sister, Renee Dell'Orfano, formerly of Manchester, and now residing in Louisville.
A private family service will be held.

Fred E. Mendelsberg, 77, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006. A man of a kind heart and soul, who never knew a stranger. Fred was an electrician who was born in Poland in 1929 and was a survivor of Communist Poland and World War II. He was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun.
He is survived by: Joanna, his wife of 50 years; son, Victor (Robin) of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Rita Burge (David); brother, Alexander (Martha) and Zev Shaked of Israel; granddaughters, Michelle Mendelsberg and Kori Burge; and grandsons, Michael Mendelsberg, Benjamin Burge and Alexander Mendelsberg.
A graveside service will be held at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway at 2:00 pm Tuesday (today).
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
He will be terribly missed by all that know him.

Steven Mark Geer, 41, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2006.
He was an accomplished athlete having completed over 150 triathlons, including 15 Ironmen competitions. He was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, the Jewish Community Center and the USA Triathlon Association.
Steven is survived by: his wife, Claire; children, Madelyn, Spencer and Julia; his parents, Shirley and Bert Geer; his brothers, Jonathon (Cindy) and Ronald (Stacey); and many members of his extended family.
He will be remembered by all who knew him and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Adath Jeshurun, 2401 Woodbourne Avenue, at 3:00pm Monday (today), with interment
in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin after 2:00 pm Monday at Congregation Adath Jeshurun.

Stanley Melvin Albert, 73, formerly of Louisville, passed away in Indianapolis, October 19, 2006, where he had lived for the past two years. Mr. Albert was born March 18, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the son of Mollie and Joseph Albert. He graduated Millersburg Military Academy in 1950 and Butler University School of Pharmacy. Mr. Albert was a U.S. Army veteran and for 25 years he owned and operated Alberts Maryville Drugs . In 1957 he married his beloved wife, Rachel Nahmias Albert, of Indianapolis, who survives him.
Other survivors include his children, David Albert (Nancy) of Allen, Texas, Rhonda Schweber of Atlanta, Georgia, Eileen Shorr (Howard) of Carmel; his best friend, Mr. Konrad "Kurt" Poth and his cherished seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will held at 1 pm Sunday, October 22, 2006 (today) at the funeral home, with burial in Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane. Visitation will be after 12 noon on Sunday at the funeral home.

Dr. Arthur Henry Herman, died Monday, October 16, 2006.
Dr. Herman practiced dentistry for more than 60 years. He was proud of his accomplishments in Boy Scouts, receiving the Silver Beaver Award for volunteer service and was a founding member of the Fayette Lions Club.
Dr. Herman was the widower of Bernice Salutsky Herman.
He is survived by his two sons: Larry Herman, his wife Pam Allweiss and their son, Jonathan Herman and son David Herman, his wife Mary Ayala, mother of Lena Coleman, grandmother of Ronald and Ryan Coleman.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane, Louisville. Lexington services will begin at 5:45 PM Wednesday, October 18, at Ohavay Zion Synagogue.

Florence Davis Fine, 83, of Louisville, died Saturday, October 7, 2006. She was a member of Keneseth Israel Congregation and Hadassah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin "Bob" Fine and her daughter-in-law, Miriam R. Fine.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis and Glenn Fine (Kathi) and four grandchildren, Chase, Meredith, Max and Molly Fine.
