Frimi Speevack Weinstein, 79, of Louisville, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006 at Jewish Hospital.
She was a member of Keneseth Israel, Hadassah, the American Council of Jewish Women, and a volunteer at Jewish Hospital for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Weinstein, and her parents, Moses and Cecil Speevack who were instrumental in establishing Eliahu Academy, the Louisville Jewish Day School.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Max Weinstein, her son, Mark Weinstein (Desie), and grandchildren, Jessica and David Weinstein.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00AM on Monday (today) at Agudath Achim Cemetery, 2785 Preston Hwy.

Yeva Kerper, 92, of Louisville, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Twinbrook Nursing Home.
She was a native of Russia, a retired bookkeeper and a member of The Temple.
Mrs. Kerper is survived by her daughter, Anna Efman and her grandson, Alex Efman.
A graveside funeral will be held at The Temple Cemetery, 2716 Preston Highway, at 2:00 pm Friday (today).

Gene D. Mullins, 75, of Louisville, died Tuesday. He was a retired chrome plater for Traflex Singer & Telex and a former Moose Club member.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lois Mullins; his daughter, Lorie Hardin (Gene); and 5 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 PM until 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Walter Lowen, 84, of Louisville, died on May 3, 2006 in Louisville, KY. Born in Cologne, Germany, he left Nazi Germany in 1936 at age 15 by himself. He was settled in Baltimore. He graduated from North Carolina State University after receiving his BSME (1943) and Masters (1947). He taught engineering at Union College from 1947-1967. In 1967 he became founding dean and professor at the School of Advanced Technology in Binghamton University (SUNY) from which he retired (1990). In 1963 he obtained his doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland in Nuclear Shielding, a degree he completed in 15 months.
He took great pride in his students whose backgrounds were as diverse as he was. Their backgrounds ranged from a former CEO of Ben and Jerry's to a child psychologist, to the Turkish Economic Ambassador to the European Union. In recognition of his impact, alumni and friends at the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, which was formed from the foundation of the School of Advanced Technology, had created a student endowment to mark his legacy. Gifts in Walter's honor can be made to the fund at the Binghamton University Foundation, Box 6005, Binghamton, NY 13902-6005.
He traveled extensively and visited virtually every corner of the world. He was widely published and was a founding member of the Volunteer for International Technical Assistance. He was also a consultant to IBM.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, his sons Gary and John, his daughters in law Amy and Sandra and his grandchildren Jessica, Hannah and Aliso. A brother, Herbert lives in Uruguay, South America.

Jerome "Jerry" Kasdan, 95, of Louisville, died May 1, 2006. He was a partner in Mann Chemical Company. He was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #125, Scottish Rite, Kosair Shrine Temple and an associate member of Hadassah. He also was a 1929 graduate of Male High School and a member of the Male High School Alumni Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Kasdan and his daughter Anne Epstein.
He is survived by: two sons, Frank Kasdan (Meryl) and John Kasdan (Rita Schooley) of Fairfax, Virginia; two brothers, Martin Z. Kasdan (Peggy) and Shelley B. Kasdan of Vista, California; grandchildren, Susan Epstein Garcia, Julie Epstein, David Epstein, Zach Kasdan, Sophie Kasdan and Arthur Kasdan; and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Avenue with interment in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jerome and Ruth Kasdan Young Leadership Fund at Congregation Adath Jeshurun.

Ada Glazer Flamm, 86, of Louisville, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Hadassah, The Temple and National Council of Jewish Women ' Louisville section.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Gould (Larry Bass); son, Allan R. Flamm (Aida) of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Evelyn Smith of Palm Beach, Florida and Elaine Frank; 3 grandchildren; and her caregiver, Betty West.
Her funeral service will be at 3pm today (Sunday) at the funeral home, followed by burial in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin after 2pm Sunday.
Contributions in her memory may be made to The Temple or to Fight for Sight, 381 Park Avenue South, Suite 809, New York, NY 10016.

Nathan "Natie" Schwartz, all around great guy, 93, died peacefully Wednesday, April 19, at Baptist Hospital East.
Natie was a native of Detroit, Michigan where he grew up with six brothers and sisters, surrounded by nieces and nephews, friends and business associates. Moving to Louisville in 1976 to be with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Natie started the second chapter of his long life. He worked 65 years as a pharmacist in Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana, until he retired at age 83.
Natie was a loving husband to his wife of 65 years, Jeanette (Jaffe), a beloved father to his daughter, Cheryl Karp and son-in-law, David W. Karp MD, a devoted grandfather to Andrew Karp, Abigail Karp Marcus, and Brian Marcus, and a proud great grandfather of Jared Henry Marcus. He is also survived by Eli Jaffe, whom he loved like a brother.
Natie was loved and will be greatly missed by those who cared for him in his last years. Brigette Duncan, Shirley Smith, Patty Clingerman, and Roy Taylor all treated him with dignity and respect.
He was a proud member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, B'nai B'rith, AZO pharmacy fraternity, and a member of the Perfectionist Mosaic Lodge of Michigan. He was a great supporter of numerous charities as well as a volunteer for many years at Four Courts.
His family wants to acknowledge the wonderful staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Baptist Hospital East who cared for him with love and compassion in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday at the funeral home, followed by burial in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin at 1pm Friday.

Loretta Goldstein nee Friedman, 85, of Louisville, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Jefferson Place. She was a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Dr. Irvin Goldstein; two sons, Ronald Lee Goldstein (Patti) and Stephen Jay Goldstein; five grandchildren, Melissa, Katie, Allison, Dan and Diane Goldstein; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday (today) at the funeral home. Interment in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Esther "Judith" Goldstein Lundy, 59, of Louisville, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a Life Member of Keneseth Israel Sisterhood.
She is survived by her sons, Shawn Reck (Donna) and Michael Reck of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, Leonard Goldstein; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will held at 2 p.m. on Friday in Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Roger Coleman, 91, died on February 28th, 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio of complications from pneumonia.
Roger retired in 1980 after a long and distinguished career with Brown Forman Distillers in which he ultimately served as President and was a member of the Board of Directors. He was a very philanthropic man and was a part of many boards including The Louisville Ballet and the Louisville Zoo. He received the Humanitarian Award from B'nai Brith honoring his philanthropic efforts on behalf of the liquor industry. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ethel Miller Coleman, his spouse of 59 years. He was a member of The Temple.
Roger is survived by: two sons, Lawrence Roger Coleman of Longboat Key, Florida and Baltimore, Maryland and Alan Michael Coleman of San Francisco, California; 3 grandchildren, Jerald Lawrence Coleman, Lisa Coleman Frank of Baltimore, Maryland, Roger Bryan Coleman of Atlanta, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Cole and Madison Frank; two daughters-in-law, Jan Coleman and Cynthia Coleman; one grandson in law, Brooke Frank; and various nieces and nephews. Special love goes to his adopted son Alfred Ho and his wife Chris, and their two children Jay and Jaime who loved and supported both Ethel and Roger throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 29th (today) at 10:30 am at The Temple, 5101 U.S. Highway 42. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service.

Dr. Aaron Rabb, 74, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, Indiana University and Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Rabb studied pulmonary medicine at the Veterans Administration Hospital and retired as a staff physician from the Veterans Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and was awarded a Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Louisville. Dr. Rabb was involved in early developments in Kidney transplants at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Congregation Adath Jeshurun.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mitchell Rabb and his parents, Judge Saul I. Rabb and Anna Rabb of Indianapolis.
He is survived by his beloved companion, LaVerne (Mimi) Ontell of Louisville; brother, Joseph Rabb (Susan) of Indianapolis; proud uncle of Beth Rabb Sanchez (Steven) and Daniel A. Rabb; and proud great uncle of Jonah Sanchez and Samuel Sanchez, all of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday (today) at the funeral home, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway. Visitation will begin after 11:00 am Tuesday.

Lawrence Strasberg, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2006 in Arlington, Virginia from complications from pneumonia. He lived in Louisville for over 51 years and was the owner of Strasberg's women's apparel store on Preston Street for many years. He was a loving father and husband. He was a World War II veteran of General Patton's army. He enjoyed backgammon and bridge and was the president of and founded the Louisville Backgammon Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia Kozlove Strasberg, who passed away in 2001; and his daughter, Lois who passed away in 2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Harriet of Olympia, Washington; his son, Paul, of Fairfax, Virginia; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Blatt and Janice Netzky, both of Florida.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 3: p.m. Sunday (today) at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway.

Paula Spatz, of Louisville, passed away peacefully the morning of March 15th in her home. She was a life long learner and avid reader who graduated college at age 73. She enriched the lives of her family and friends for nearly 90 years.
She was preceded in death by: her husband Jack Spatz; her sister Minna Schielman; and her son, Eugene Spatz.
She is survived by: her daughters, Amy Lowen and Cathy Spatz Widom; her granddaughters, Rebecca Widom, Jessica Lowen, and Hannah Lowen; and her sons-in-law, Michael Maxfield and Gary Lowen.
She will be greatly missed for her wisdom, advice and love.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Friday (today), March 17, 2006 at 10:30am. Visitation will begin after 9:30am on Friday.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Hess; step-daughter, Rachel Casy (Bobbie); step-granddaughter, Kelly Woods (David); great grandchildren, Kasey and Karmen Woods; and nieces, Janet Richmond (Kenneth), Ruth Phillips (Bruce), Debbie Hess and Karen Hess.

She worked side-by-side with her husband Irvine "Bookie" Grossman at Grossman Sales Company toy distributors.
She will be remembered lovingly by: her daughters, Myra Garon and Rita Glick, son-in-law, Bill Glick; and her grandchildren, Amy Benovitz (Lee), Fred Garon, Sally Goldman (Michael), David Glick (Judy), Dann Glick (Mary) and Bob Glick (Teri). She also had 10 great grandchildren: Nancy, Emily, Mattie, Jack, Michael, Katie, Tyler, Jamie, Aaron and Connor.

Lloyd S. Schuster, 78, died at Jewish Hospital on Sunday, February 26, 2006.
Lloyd retired in 1992 after a long career in the automotive parts industry. He served as an officer of Interstate Auto Supply and President of State Automotive Warehouse in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He was also a member of the National Board of the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association. He was a member of Kosair Shrine Temple, St. George Masonic Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite, a board member of The Temple and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In his retirement, Mr. Schuster volunteered with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Platoff Schuster; 2 sons, Brent S. Schuster (Suzanne Adkins) and D. Hunt Schuster (Linda); grandchildren, Molly and Joey Schuster; brother, Irving B. Schuster (Elsa); and sister-in-law, Sheila Platoff of Washington DC.

She was a past chairman of the Young Woman's Division of the United Jewish Campaign, a past president of the Adath Jeshurun Sisterhood, an active volunteer in the Dress For Success program, a member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, life member of the National Council of Jewish Women, life member of Hadassah and the Adath Jeshurun Sisterhood.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Tarbis; sons, Evan Tarbis and Louis Tarbis; and her brother, Jay Gottlieb of New York.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday (today) at the funeral home, with burial in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway. Visitation will begin after 11:30 am Wednesday.

Minx Mansbach Auerbach, 83, of Louisville died from Ovarian Cancer on February 16, 2006. From 1974 to 1978 she headed the Department of Consumer Affaires which she started while working for Mayor Harvey Sloan. Mrs. Auerbach was an Executive Assistant of Mitch McConnell during his administration as County Judge of Jefferson County from 1978-1984. From 1979-1994 she was on the board of The Louisville Science Center and Chair from 1990-1993. Mrs. Auerbach was instrumental in saving the museum from closing and hiring the museum's current director. Mrs. Auerbach was a Board member (1984-97) and Chair (1986-97) of the Louisville and Jefferson County Planning Commission. In 1996 Mrs. Auerbach became the first woman President of the University of Louisville Board. She served on the UofL board for seven years. She also served on the Louisville Community Foundation Board 1982-92; was on the Board and President of the Olmstead Conservancy from 1998 - 2002 and was on the Board of River Fields from 1998 until her death. Mrs. Auerbach was in the first group of recipients of the Women of Distinction from The Center for Women and Children; the 2002 winner of The Blanche B. Ottenheimer award given by the Jewish Community Center; in 2003 she was named Louisvillian of the Year by The Advertising Federation of Louisville; she received the Certificate of Merit for Community Service from 3 different Mayors and was honored in the fall of 2005 by Greater Louisville, Inc, as one of 54 community members who have made the greatest contributions to the community in Passing the Torch.
Mrs. Auerbach is preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Mansbach.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. S. Pearson Auerbach; her daughter, Penny Auerbach Friedberg and son-in-law Jean Friedberg of Columbia, MD; her sons, Dr. J. Keith Auerbach and Robert Auerbach and wife Pumpkin Auerbach; sisters, Hanna Weininger of Scottsdale, AZ, Sophia Levinson of Cincinnati, OH, Trudy Weber of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Gerald Mansbach of Ashland, KY; grandchildren, Michael Joseph Friedberg, Alex Pearson Auerbach, Leah Friedberg Tangredi, Summer Auerbach, Rebekkah Star Auerbach and Peter Quinn Auerbach; and great-grandson, Noah Auerbach.
Funeral services will be held at The Temple, 5101 US Highway 42 on Sunday February 19 at 2:00 pm with burial in the Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm before the service at The Temple.
