MOBILE COUNTY

Faye Wynette Cone
Faye Wynette Cone, who owned and operated Elite Furniture and Waterbed Warehouse for more than 15 years, died Wednesday at her home. She was 61.
Mrs. Cone, a native of Baker County, Ga., was a longtime resident of Albany, Ga., and Mobile.
Survivors include her husband, Frank D. Cone of Mobile; three children, Patricia Gwen Vandevort, David Perry Cone and Thomas Dan Cone, all of Mobile; two brothers, John David Palmer Jr. of Albany and Jack Andrew Palmer of Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery in Albany with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home in Albany.
Memorials may be made to the local Salvation Army.

Julia S. Marriott
Julia Sheldon Marriott, a member of the Historical Preservation Society, died Wednesday at her home. She was 91.
Mrs. Marriott was a lifelong Mobilian. Her memberships included Trinity Episcopal Church and the Magna Carta Dames.
Survivors include two children, B. Sheldon Marriott of Mobile and John Marshall Marriott Jr. of Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with visitation at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Old Spring Hill Cemetery with Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street directing.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Robert Azaharez
Robert Carlos Azaharez, an employee of Mobile Gas Service Co., died Wednesday in a traffic accident. He was 44.
The Puerto Rico native was a resident of Mobile for the past 18 years.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Darleen Azaharez of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, where services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Mattie Kelly Hill
Mattie Kelly Hill, a homemaker, died Thursday at a local hospital She was 92.
Mrs. Hill, a Mississippi native, had lived in Theodore for the past 25 years.
Survivors include one sister, Belle Hewes of Theodore; two brothers, J.F. Kelly of Theodore and Barney Kelly of Richmond, Texas; and the niece who served as her caretaker, Bonnie Morgan of Theodore.
Graveside services are schedule for 3 p.m. today in Mobile Memorial Gardens with Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home directing.

William Henry Pylate
William Henry Pylate, who had been a general contractor, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 78.
The Silas, Ala., native was a resident of Whistler for the past 16 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Fleming Pylate of Whistler; six children, Carol Ann Fletcher of Semmes, Deborah Simison of Saraland, Tammy Croomer, Anita Clark and Joseph Ray, all of Mobile, and Gloria Findley of Auburn; one sister, Jewel Pierce of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, A.T. Watkins of Tillman's Corner; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the noon services. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

CLARKE COUNTY

Hobson Gates Jr.
WHATLEY, Ala. — Hobson Percy "H.P." Gates Jr., who had been self-employed as a logger, died Wednesday in a hospital in Grove Hill. He was 69.
Gates was a native and resident of Whatley and was a member of Amity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Haug Gates of Whatley; three sons, Jimmy Gates of Thomasville, Ala., Billy Gates and Mike Gates, both of Whatley; one daughter, Patricia Gates of Wetumpka, Ala.; one brother, Thomas George Gates of Helena, Ala.; six sisters, Lola Jean Reid of Campbell, Ala., Louise Lowery of Magnolia, Texas, Johnie M. Dugan of Coffeeville, Ala., Betty Jo Bradford of Dickinson, Ala., Rubye Andrews of Grove Hill and Evelyn Green of Thomasville; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Amity Baptist Church with burial in Amity Baptist Cemetery in Whatley.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

Willie C. Watson
ATMORE — Willie C. "Buck" Watson, who had been self-employed for many years in the logging business, died Sunday at his home in Atmore. He was 64.
Watson, formerly of Monroeville, was a longtime farmer and had also worked at PAC in Peterman, Ala., and Vanity Fair for nine years.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie Watson of Monroeville, Cleveland Thomas of Castleberry, Ala., and Melvin Lee of Burnt Corn, Ala.; five brothers, John C. Watson of Moss Point, Miss., Thomas E. Watson of Atmore, Charles Watson of Decatur Ala., Fred Watson and James Watson, both of Monroeville; one sister, Ernestine Lee of Monroeville; and eight grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest AME Zion Church in Burnt Corn with burial in the church cemetery with Penn's Funeral Home of Monroeville directing.

MONROE COUNTY

Berda Mae Knight
WAINWRIGHT, Ala. — Berda Mae Knight, a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Finchburg, Ala., died Monday at a Mobile hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Knight was a lifelong resident of the Wainwright community near Franklin.
Survivors include four sons, Lloyd Knight, Larry Knight and Herbert Knight, all of Wainwright, and Trenton Knight Jr. of New York City; three sisters, Andretta Suggs of Monroeville, Mary Brown and Betty Abney, both of Wainwright; one sister, Emma McCall of Mobile; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Good Hope Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Jones Unity Funeral Home of Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.

OTHER

Eunice V. Johnson
FAIRHOPE — Eunice V. Johnson, a resident of Fairhope and native of Clark County, Miss., died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 79.
She is survived by two daughters, Waudine Williams and Marlene Thomas, both of Fairhope; two brothers, Culis D. Hayes of South Carolina and James D. Hayes of Mississippi; one sister, Lynn Trowbridge of Florida; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Quitman, Miss.
Arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

Damerius R. Pickens
FOLEY — Infant Damerius R. Pickens died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was 2 weeks old.
Survivors include his mother, Tracy Pickens of Foley; his father, Willie Holmes of Foley; a sister, Gina Pickens of Foley; a brother, Travis Pickens of Foley; and his grandparents, Marie Pickens of Foley and Daisy and Willie Holmes of Foley.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Beulah Heights Cemetery in Foley.
The family suggests that flowers be sent to Bayview Funeral Home in Foley for delivery to the grave site.
Bayview Funeral Home of Foley is handling arrangements.

Benjamin Taylor Black
LILLIAN — Lillian resident Benjamin Taylor Black died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Foley Nursing Home. He was 90.
Black was a member of the Lillian United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a stepson, Edward J. Lambert Jr. of Woodbridge, Va.; and a niece, Edith Davidson of McEwen, Tenn.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene May officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Bayview Funeral Home of Foley.
