MOBILE COUNTY
Robert C. Bayles
Robert C. Bayles, a native of Grove Hill and resident of Saraland, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Bayles, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was retired from Courtaulds.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Nall Bayles of Saraland; a son, Gary Bayles of Saraland; two daughters, Deborah Wainwright of Kushla and Sharon Phillips of Saraland; four brothers, Willard Bayles, Marvin Bayles, Alfred Bayles and Jimmy Bayles; two sisters, Mary Skipper and Bernice Hicks; seven grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Services will be at noon Tuesday at Radney, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Curney R. Jones
Curney R. Jones, a native of Hobson, Ala., and resident of Mobile, died Friday in a local hospital. He was 77.
Jones was a member of Azalea City Church of Christ. He retired from the civil service at Brookley Air Force Base after 21 years of service. Jones also served the Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens for 20 years. He was a member of the James G. Rast Lodge No. 893 A&M and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Helen N. Jones; four sons, James Donald Jones Sr., Tom Neal, Jim Neal and Dan Neal; four daughters, Mary Ann Friedlander, Shirly Blair, Debbie Johnson and Joanna Schell; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with interment
in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be made to Azalea City Church of Christ, 3550 Schillinger Rd. N., Semmes, Ala. 36575 or the Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens, 2424 Gordon Smith Drive, Mobile, Ala. 36617.

Benjamin Bradford Barnes
GROVE HILL- Benjamin Bradford "Ben" Barnes, a native of Birmingham and resident of Grove Hill, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 22.
Barnes was a member of Grove Hill United Methodist Church and the Grove Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica D. Barnes; his parents, Jimmy Wayne and Phyllis Barnes; two sisters, Jessica Barnes and Jennifer Johnson; and his grandparents, Clyde Bradford and Tommy and Phoebe Barnes, all of Grove Hill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Grove Hill Baptist Church, with burial in Allen Cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emma Russell Lucas
BIRMINGHAM - Emma Russell Lucas, a native of Mississippi and resident of Birmingham, died Friday at a Birmingham hospital. She was 79.
A homemaker, she was a member State Line United Methodist Church and State Line Coffee Club.
She is survived by two children, W. Lynch Lucas of Birmingham and Thomas J. Lucas of Fayetteville, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Miss., with burial in the State Line Cemetery.

Lee Robert Angelos
BAY MINETTE — Lee Robert Angelos died Monday, June 21, 1999. Angelos was a longtime resident of Florida before moving to Bay Minette in 1985.
He was a truck driver and a master chef, and in his later years helped to care for the elderly. He was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church in Rabun.
Survivors include two brothers, Dr. George Angelos of Billings, Mont., and John S. Angelos of Saratoga, Wyo.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Providence Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Lewis will officiate and burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight, from 6 to 9 o'clock, at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Marie C. Trione Rivard
DAPHNE — Lifelong Daphne resident Marie C. Trione Rivard died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at her home. Mrs. Rivard, 86, was retired from the U.S. government after working for 43 years at the Daphne post office.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne.
Survivors include her three stepchildren, Guy Rivard, Bob Rivard and Faye Rivard, all of Florida; three sisters, Helen Calla way, Theresa Trione, both of Daphne, and Rachel Fancher of Birmingham; and two brothers, Leonard Trione of Daphne and Alex "Tumpsie" Trione of Lake Martin.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 o'clock today at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Timothy Deasy will serve as celebrant and burial will follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or School or a charity of choice.
Arrangements are by Wolfe Funeral Home in Daphne.
Emilie Roseler
FAIRHOPE — Emilie Roseler, a native of Jersey City, N.J., and a resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at a local health-care facility. She was 88.
Mrs. Roseler was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Edna Brunnen of Fairhope; two sisters, Juliette Vargas of Texas and Elsie Johnson of Florida; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service for family members will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope.

Mamie L. Brown
Mamie Lewis Brown, a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 2, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 83.
Mrs. Brown, who resided in Mobile, was a native of Marengo County.
Survivors include her daughter, Beatrice McCants of Mobile; six siblings, Pearl Bradley, Sadie Cooley and J.C. Hawkins, all of Chicago, Robert Lewis and Ed Lewis, both of Mobile, and Bessie Peterson of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 2 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.
David K. Davis
David Kermit Davis, a former brick mason, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 84.
A native of Old Red Rock, Fla., Davis resided in Semmes. He was a member of Bowen Lodge in Eight Mile and a past master of Springhill Lodge No. 896.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline L. Davis of Semmes; two sons, David H. Davis of Centreville, Va., and Julius M. Davis of Semmes; two daughters, Carolyn Doan and Elaine Faggard, both of Theodore; six stepchildren; four sisters, Verni Lee Hoffman of Holt, Fla., Francis Till of Montgomery, Florence Davis of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jean Schofield of Greenville, Ala.; 29 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services are set for noon today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by Masonic graveside services at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Mary Jane Lockett
Mary Jane Lockett, mother of former city attorney and newly appointed Mobile Circuit Judge John Lockett, died Tuesday. She was 69.
A native of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Lockett was a longtime resident of Mobile.
She had worked as a sales consultant at Parisian, retiring in 1993.
Besides her son, she is survived by her other children - Karen Stacy of Hueytown, Ala., Murphy Elliott of Mobile, Pat Lesnick of Tucson, Ariz., Mike Lockett and Lisa Lockett, both of Birmingham, and Kevin Lockett of Lake in the Hills, Ill. - and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney-Belmany Funeral Home on Grelot Road. A Mass of Christian burial is set for 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
John W. McLendon
John William McLendon, a member of the Arronic Priesthood of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
McLendon, 46, was a native of Selma and a longtime resident of Saraland. He was a former member of Toastmasters and the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle B. McLendon of Saraland; two children, Elizabeth Wright of Saraland and Cassandra Hudson of Satsuma; a stepdaughter, Renee Deakle of Theodore; his parents, Winnie and William R. McLendon of Saraland; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Services are set for 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Elmore Pate Jr.
Elmore Pate Jr., owner of Pate's Electric Service, died Monday of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was 36.
Pate, a lifelong Mobilian, was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. He also attended Good Will Church Ministry.
A 1980 graduate of Vigor High School, Pate attended Southwest Technical College in Mobile and Moss Point Junior College in Moss Point, Miss.
He was a member of St. John's No. 2 Masonic Lodge and served as a Little League football coach at Trinity Gardens Park.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Pate; four children, Jarvis Grayson, Shanette Gunn, Tonique Gunn and Tony Gunn, all of Mobile; his parents, Carol and the Rev. Elmore Pate Sr.; his grandmother, Rebecca Johnson; two sisters, Tyna Harris and Shelia Dubose, all of Mobile; and a brother, Sheldon Jordan of Dallas.
Viewing will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 707 Mount Sinai Avenue in Whistler, on Saturday from noon until the 2 p.m. services begin. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Leola A. Wiggins
Leola A. Wiggins, a member of Truevine Baptist Church, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Wiggins, a native of Camden, Ala., resided in Mobile for many years. She was a grand matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 6.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Catherine Williams of Mobile; two great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin, with burial at Roper Cemetery on U.S. 43 in Mount Vernon .

George W. Vice
BUTLER — George W. Vice, a sales manager with Butler Broadcasting Inc., died Tuesday at a hospital in Meridian, Miss.
Vice, 58, was a native of Aimwell, Ala. He resided in Butler.
Survivors include his mother, Utha Victoria Vice of Demopolis, Ala.; two sons, Van Vice and Roy Oliver Vice, both of Butler; a daughter, Desiree V. Pritchett of Mobile; a brother, Jerry R. Vice of Aimwell; and six grandchildren.
Services are set for 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Butler, with burial at Aimwell Cemetery in Aimwell.

Tommie Barnes
WHATLEY — Tommie Barnes, a former truck driver with the state of Alabama, died Wednesday at his Whatley home. He was 81.
Barnes, a native of Alabama, was a member of Cave Creek Methodist Church in Chance, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Phoebe Skipper Barnes of Whatley; two daughters, Carolyn Singley of Grove Hill and Jane B. Rush of Thomasville, Ala.; a son, Jimmy Wayne Barnes of Grove Hill; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services are set for 4 p.m. today at Magnolia Assembly of God, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Davis M. Henson Sr.
HAWTHORN — Davis M. Henson Sr., who had served for many years as a conservation officer with the state of Alabama, died Wednesday at an area hospital. He was 94.
Henson, a lifelong resident of Hawthorn, was a member of Chatom Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Schell; a daughter, Harriette Owen of Montgomery; three sons, Davis Henson Jr. of Chatom, Dr. Joe Henson of Chatom and Warren "Gus" Henson of Birmingham; a brother, Robert Henson of Hawthorn; a sister, Bernice Henson Schell of Chatom; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, with graveside services at 11 a.m. in Chatom Cemetery.

Ginevra Ellen Laux
BON SECOUR — Ginevra Ellen Laux, a native of Hoodriver, Ore., and a resident of Bon Secour, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Laux is survived by one son, Gordon Green of Bon Secour, and one grandchild.
Cremation arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory in Robertsdale.
Lucas W. McIlwain
WAYNESBORO, Miss. — Lucas Wendall McIlwain, who had been self-employed, died Tuesday at a hospital in Waynesboro.
McIlwain, 59, was a Mississippi native and resided in Waynesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn McIlwain of Waynesboro; two sons, Keith McIlwain and Kelby Taylor, both of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Charles Hudson and Rodney Hudson, both of Gulf Shores; two daughters, Kara McIlwain of Waynesboro and Kim Lofton of Pascagoula; a stepdaughter, Shelia Touchstone of Gulf Shores; two brothers, Alex McIlwain and Rudolph McIlwain, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Elizabeth Carlisle of Waynesboro; and five grandchildren.
Services are set for 3 p.m. today at Abundant Life Church, with burial at Community Southern Methodist Cemetery.

Kenneth Wayne Morris
FAIRHOPE — Kenneth Wayne Morris, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 42.
Survivors include his wife, Starlee Morris of Fairhope; his parents, Bob and Betty Morris of Fairhope; and two brothers, Michael Morris and Steve Morris, both of Fairhope.
Funeral services will be held 10 today in the chapel of at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope. Burial will follow in Marlow Methodist Cemetery.
