Flonnie N. Brooks
Flonnie Naomi Brooks, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., and resident of Mobile, died Monday at a local hospital. She was 88.
Mrs. Brooks had worked as a secretary at Sears, Roebuck and Co., and was a member of Wesley Heights Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Survivors include her son, Delbert Ray Brooks of Huntsville; her daughter, Sheila Annette Doughtie of Mobile; her brother, R.L. Champion of Sanford, N.C.; her sister, Opal Moore of Sanford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Cornelius Brown Sr.
Cornelius T. "Paper Man" Brown Sr., who retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Co. after 34 years, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 84.
Brown, a native of Citronelle, was a resident of Mobile for 48 years. He had also worked as a newspaper carrier for 20 years in the Toulminville area.
He was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church.
Brown was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Roberts Brown; a son, Cornelius T. Brown Jr.; a daughter, Melvina James of Mobile; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Allen Mortuary, and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 801 Virginia St. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the Roberts Cemetery in McIntosh, Ala.

Elnora Burrell
Elnora Virginia Pinkney Nichols Burrell, who had been employed as a cook with the Mobile County Board of Education, died Saturday at her home. She was 56.
Mrs. Burrell was a native of Escatawpa, Miss., and resident of Mobile.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board, senior usher board and the missionary department, in addition to serving as a counselor for the junior usher board.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Burrell of Mobile; five children, Carolyn Cox, Chantel Allen and Sean Nichols, all of Mobile, Monique Nichols Turner of Linden, Ala., and Trent Nichols of Cortland, Ohio; eight stepchildren, Thomasina Martin of Detroit, Henry Burrell of Lancaster, Calif., Thomas Burrell, Shirley Burrell, Naomi Poole, Janice Stallworth and Teresa Lanier, all of Mobile, and Michael Burrell of Washington; two sisters, Deborah Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary Ann Washington of Mobile; two brothers, Daniel McWilliams and Joseph McWilliams of San Francisco; 24 grandchildren; and 12 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 461 Texas St., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Garden.

Joel W. Chambliss
Joel William Chambliss, who had worked for 25 years as a house painter, died Tuesday at local hospital after a brief illness. He was 61.
A native of Mobile, Chambliss was a resident of Whistler.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Chambliss of Whistler; a daughter, Alice Goodman of Whistler; two brothers, James Alkus Chambliss and Roger Dale Chambliss, both of Semmes; six sisters, Ellise Marie Mizell, Thelma Louise Childerss and Cynthia Ann Ralston, all of Chunchula, Ramona Williams of Semmes, Voncille Jeanette Buxton of Eight Mile and Beverly Sue Chambliss of Whistler; and one grandchild.
The wake is scheduled for 5 p.m. today at the family residence, 2350 Bear Fork Road. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the home. Burial will be in Whistler Cemetery, with Gilmer's Funeral Service on Zeigler Boulevard directing.

Aaron G. Forrest Jr.
Aaron G. Forrest Jr., a retired cement company employee, died Friday at a local health care facility at the age of 97.
Forrest, a native of Calvert, Ala., was a resident of Mobile. He had worked as a truck driver with Smith Kelly Cement Co., and retired from Radcliff Cement Co.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Grand Bay.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Grover Forrest of Seattle and Cecil Turk of Mobile; a sister, Anna Bell Ludgood of Bay Minette; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery in Stockton.

Ira G. Grosser
Ira G. Grosser, a native of Tennessee and resident of Chickasaw, died Monday at her home. She was 88.
Survivors include her cousins, Mary E. Sessions, John T. Blackwell, Ida Lou Bragg and Hollis N. Blackwell.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with graveside services at 11 a.m. in Wilson Annex of Wolf Ridge Cemetery.

Michael Harrison Sr.
Michael Andrew Harrison Sr., who worked as a house painter, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 57.
Harrison was a lifelong resident of Mobile County.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Mae Harrison of Chickasaw; a son, Michael A. Harrison, Jr. of Stockbridge, Ga.; a daughter, Candace Renee Harrison of Chickasaw; his brothers and sisters; and three granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling arrangements.

Elmore Westbrook Jr.
Elmore C. Westbrook Jr., who worked to improve the welfare of Mobile-area youngsters, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 50.
Westbrook, a native Mobilian, was a 1967 graduate of Central High School.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Lynne Westbrook of Mobile; two sons, Elmore C. Westbrook III and Eron Christopher Westbrook, both of Mobile; three daughters, Lynae Marie Westbrook, Jepperneice McKinnis and Katherine Nelson of Mobile; his parents, Elmore C. and Alice Westbrook of Mobile; two brothers, Alvin Westbrook and Miriam Westbrook; four sisters, Mary Alice White of Gary, Ind., Martha Westbrook, Evelyn Foster of Cincinnati and Dorothy Washington; and 10 grandchildren.
Johnson-Allen Mortuary will announce arrangements.

CLARKE COUNTY

Addie R. Allday
COFFEEVILLE — Addie Ray Allday, a former cafeteria worker with the Clarke County Board of Education, died Monday at a health care facility in Jackson, Ala. She was 89.
Mrs. Allday, a native of Alabama, was a resident of Coffeeville and a member of Ulcanush Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Allday of Jackson and Jimmy Allday of Coffeeville; a daughter, Betty Joyce Pugh of Coffeeville; a sister, Lillie B. Pelham of Coffeeville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Ulcanush Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Flo Platt
CHATOM — Flo Platt, a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church in Chatom, died Sunday at a local nursing facility. She was 79.
Mrs. Platt was an Alabama native and resident of Chatom.
Survivors include her husband, Ormond R. Platt of Chatom; two sons, Wade Platt of Chatom and Henry Platt of Odessa, Texas; a sister, Cecile Williams of Moundville, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Chatom Cemetery.

OTHER

Leonard R. Stockman
ST. FRANCIS, Ark. — Leonard Royal "Buddy" Stockman, a native of Pascagoula, died Monday at a hospital in Kennett, Mo. He was 64.
Stockman, a resident of St. Francis, was a retired welder. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0064 in Little Rock, Ark., and the International Boilermakers.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Etta Stockman of St. Francis; three children, Pearl Hall and Johnny Stockman, both of Grand Bay, and Angela Gale Stockman of St. Francis; three stepchildren, Carl Ray Thrasher of Arlington, Texas, Katheren Jean Weaver of Piggott, Ark., and Angel Joy Holloway of Campbell, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Stockman and Deloris Rattcliff; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell, where services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition in Campbell.

Utha V. Vice
DEMOPOLIS — Utha Victoria Vice, a homemaker and native of Marengo County, died Monday at a Demopolis nursing facility. She was 82.
Mrs. Vice was a resident of Demopolis and formerly of Aimwell, Ala.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Vice of Sweet Water, Ala.; a sister, Leeda Walker of Sweet Water; three brothers, Leron Wallace Pruett of Quitman, Miss., Maurice Pruett of Montgomery and Perry Wallace "Boots" Pruett of Huntsville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Aimwell Baptist Church in Sweet Water, with burial in the church cemetery. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, Ala., is in charge of arrangements.

Wallace Thompson
STOCKTON — Wallace Alman Thompson died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Summit Hospital in Bossier City, La.
The Stockton resident was a retired millwright and a veteran of World War II. He was 72.
Survivors include his wife, Mable Hall Thompson of Stockton; four sons, Donnie Thompson of Perdido, Jimmy Melton and Bruce Melton, both of Bay Minette, and Gerald Melton of Stockton; two daughters, Rose Nealy of Coushatta, La., and Jean Hall of Bay Minette; four sisters, Laura Lee Harville, Helen Ferrell and Opal Drinkard, all of Bay Minette, and Joyce Nall of Stockton; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. The Revs. Keith Cardwell and Hunter Hall will officiate and burial will follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.

Paul Rider
BAY MINETTE — A graveside service will be held Thursday for Paul Rider of Bay Minette. The 10 a.m. service will be held at Cook Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery in Bromley.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.
Rider, 59, died Monday, July 5, 1999, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope. He was a supervisor at the Alabama Shipyard and served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sophia Wallace of Crossroads and Leslie Grimes of Bay Minette; three stepdaughters, Terri Owens of Tillman's Corner, Dianne Brantley of Foley and Christine Jaye of Daphne; two brothers, Kenny Rider of Bromley and Rusty Rider of Minor Hill, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cook Presbyterian Memorial Chapel, 50080 State Highway 225, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
Norris Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Hoke Bruce
FOLEY — Hoke Bruce, a resident of Foley and native of Lineville, died Monday, July 5, 1999. He was 87.
He is survived by his wife, Elva A. Bruce of Foley; his son, Charles Jere Bruce of Fairhope; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
Pine Rest Funeral Home of Foley is handling arrangements.

Judy L. Jernigan
FAIRHOPE — Judy A. Lowery Jernigan, a native and life-long resident of Fairhope, died Monday, July 5, 1999, at a local hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Jernigan of Fairhope; a son, Henry Crocker of Fairhope; two daughters, Melissa Steele of Fairhope and Melissa Hill of Foley; her mother, Alneta Hill of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Douglas Lowery Jr.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope is handling arrangements.
