MOBILE COUNTY
Reba Rena Irby
Reba Rena Irby, a homemaker and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, died Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Irby, 98, affectionately known as "Mama Reba" to family and friends, was a native of Alberta, Ala., in Wilcox County, and a resident of Mobile for more than 70 years.
At church, she was a choir member until her health failed.
Survivors include a daughter, Eva Mae Irby Ankrom of Mobile; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services Saturday, with burial at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens and Hodge's Funeral Chapel in charge.
CLARKE COUNTY
Samuel W. Faust
JACKSON 151; Samuel Wilson Faust, a life member of the Jackson Fire Department, died Sunday in a local hospital at the age of 82.
Faust was a lifelong resident of Jackson and a a deacon of First Baptist Church of Jackson. A Mason, he was a member of Santa Fe Lodge No. 226.
He was also a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include his wife, J.E. Faust of Jackson; a son, Sammy Gene Faust of Jackson; a daughter, Sylvia Bumpers of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Jackson today from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson in charge.
Helen Figgemeier
THOMASVILLE 151; Helen Mae Figgemeier, a homemaker, died Saturday in a hospital in Thomasville. She was 61.
Mrs. Figgemeier, a native of East St. Louis, Ill., was a resident of Thomasville.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Joseph Figgemeier of Thomasville; three daughters, Susan Compton of Mandeville, La., Laura Ramsey of Thomasville and Barbara Lowery of Gulfport; a son, Joseph "Joe" Figgemeier of Richmond, Va.; a brother, William Buxton of O'Fallon, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville today from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at 2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas E. Kelley
THOMASVILLE — Thomas Edward Kelley, who worked as a carpenter, died Sunday at a Thomasville hospital. He was 69.
Kelley, a veteran, was a native of Clarke County and resided in Thomasville.
He was a member of Carpenters Local Union No. 971 and Oliver Lodge No. 334.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Kelley of Thomasville; two sons, Thomas Kelley Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., and Glen Kelley of San Francisco; a daughter, Helen Hawley of Sacramento; a stepson, Henry Autrey of Gretna, La.; two stepdaughters, Deborah Kennedy of Bashi, Ala., and Cindy Bergerson of Marrero, La.; a brother, James Franklin Kelley of Tinley Park, Ill.; three sisters, Waurrene Leth of Hayesville, N.C., Janice K. Lopez of Cottonport, La., and Eleanor Ray Gilbert of Orrville, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonightat O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, where services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Kelley Cemetery in Thomasville.

Joel Francis Hardee
MONROEVILLE — Joel Francis Hardee, who had been self-employed, died Sunday at an area hospital. He was 82.
Hardee, a native of Conecuh County, was a longtime Monroeville resident.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Webster Hardee of Monroeville; one son, Scott Hardee of Gadsden; two daughters, Becky Brunson of Jackson, Ala., and Francine Wasden of Monroeville; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroeville, with Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville directing.
Charlie M. Stabler
FRANKLIN — Charlie Mack Stabler, who had worked as a road supervisor for the city of Monroeville for many years, died Saturday at a local nursing facility. He was 91.
Stabler was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
Survivors include four sons, William Stabler and J.C. Stabler, both of Franklin, Alvin Stabler of Atmore, Ala., and Vernon Stabler of Excel, Ala.; two brothers, George Stabler and Albert Stabler, both of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church in Franklin. Burial will be in Bryant Cemetery in Franklin, with Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville in charge.

Eliza Jane Atchison
MILLRY — Eliza Jane Atchison, a homemaker and member of Spring hill Baptist Church, died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Atchison, 92, was an Alabama native and resident of Millry.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Grimes of Millry; her son, Otis Hilton Atchison of Clara, Miss.; three brothers, John B. Jones and Winfield Jones, both of Millry, and Felix Jones of Waynesboro, Miss.; three sisters, Vera Touchstone of Waynesboro, Kate Reynolds of Buckatunna, Miss., and Ada Deamon of Millry; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at New Bethel Holiness Church with burial in New Bethel Cemetery in Millry. Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom, Ala., is handling arrangements.

DAPHNE — Tim Michael, a native of Gadsden and a resident of Daphne, died Sunday, July 25, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Turner Michael of Daphne; his daughter, Brooke Michael of Fairhope; his father, Bill Michael of Huntsville; his sister, Lana Garner of Gadsden and two step-sisters, Tammy Findley and Debbie Lawling, both of Huntsville.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bayview Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately by the family.

Raymond Cochran
DAPHNE — Raymond Cochran, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Daphne, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 55.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cochran of Daphne; two daughters, Emilee Cochran of Daphne and April Wilson of New Orleans; three sons, Raymond Cochran Jr., Harold Cochran and Ronald Cochran, all of New Orleans; two sisters, Ruth Simms of Laurel, Miss., and Edith Mitchem of England; two brothers, Frank Cochran and Walter Cochran, both of New Orleans and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Bayview Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will be 2:30 p.m. today in Lake Lawn Park, New Orleans.

Glenavis H. Gilbreath
FOLEY — Glenavis Harrison Gilbreath of Foley died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at her residence. She was 54.
Mrs. Gilbreath was a member of the Foley First Baptist Church. She loved to crochet for her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Jesse Gilbreath of Foley; two daughters, Wendy Egebrecht of Foley and Angela Zuluaga of Portsmouth, Va.; her mother, Mavis B. Harrison of Robertsdale; six brothers, Mike Harrison, James Harrison, David Harrison, Tommy Harrison, Billy Harrison and Charles Harrison; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Foley First Baptist Church, with Bayview Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. The Rev. Wayne Gene Linton will officiate.

FOLEY — Bernice Lee Mulder, a native of Gwinnett County, Ga., and a resident of Foley, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. She was 78.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda D. Berrigan of Milton, Fla.; a sister, Kathleen Hickerson of Lincoln, Ill.; a brother, Johnny Titshaw of Foley; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial following in Pine Rest Memorial Park.

Donald O. Armstrong
FOLEY — Foley resident Donald Orville Armstrong died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at his residence. He was 77.
Armstrong was a member of the Elberta Alliance Church for 51 years and belonged to the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Armstrong of Foley; his daughter, Shirley Diane Keith of Greenville, S.C.; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in Lay Cemetery. The Rev. C. Hagger will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by Bayview Funeral Home of Foley.
James Pizzotti
FAIRHOPE — James Pizzotti, a native of Cook County, Ill., and longtime resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in a local health-care facility. He was 83.
Pizzotti was a member of the Elks Lodge of Fairhope and an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Theresa Norris of Fairhope; one brother, Tony Pizzotti of Fairhope; two sisters, Margaret Sartor of Detroit and Teresa Nelson of Florida; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope. Burial will be in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Building Fund.

William Russell Shaffer
BAY MINETTE — William Russell Shaffer, 72, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at his home in Bay Minette.
The Uniontown, Pa., native was a retired member of the water board in Hillsborough County, Fla. Shaffer was also a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara S. Scheepers of Chesapeake, Va.; his son, William A. Shaffer of Bay Minette; his mother, Myrtle Moody of Philadelphia; a brother, Ted Shaffer of Point Marion, Pa.; a sister, Laveda Mathieu of Philadelphia; and a granddaughter.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Infirmary Foundation - Infirmary Hospice Care Fund, 28260 Highway 90 Suite 2, Daphne, AL 36526.

I.J. Baugh
MOUNT VERNON - I.J. Baugh, who had worked as an electrician, died Monday at a local medical facility. He was 80.
Baugh, a native of Grove Hill, Ala., was a resident of Mount Vernon and attended Lockler Memorial Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from Oct. 31, 1943, to Feb. 11, 1947.
Survivors include his wife, Laura J. Baugh of Mount Vernon; a son, George Terry Baugh of Mount Vernon; six brothers, Emmett Baugh, Tommie Lee Baugh, Jesse Ray Baugh, Leon Baugh and Thurman Baugh, all of Grove Hill, and Alvin Clay Baugh of Thomasville, Ala.; two sisters, Ida Mae Boyett and Irene Baugh, both of Grove Hill; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church, where services are set for 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Freeman Funeral Home of Citronelle is handling arrangements.
Christopher M. Eaton
Christopher Michael Eaton, who was employed with the city of Mobile Public Buildings Department, died Monday at a local hospital as a result of a vehicular accident. He was 20.
Eaton was a 1996 graduate of Stanford Christian Academy. He attended Grace Assembly of God.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Cindi Eaton of Wilmer; one brother, David Eaton of Wilmer; and his grandparents, Harry Clausen Jr. of Mobile, Buddy and Betty Welch of Wilmer, and Jeanette Carr of Elllisville, Miss.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Radney Funeral Home. Viewing will be one hour prior to services. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God. Burial will be in Semmes First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rachel Prince Humphreys
BON SECOUR - Rachel Prince Humphreys, a native of Bon Secour and a resident of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Monday, July 26, 1999, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 77.
Mrs. Humphreys was a graduate of Foley High School and a former employee of Farmers and Merchants Bank in Foley. She was a charter member of Morgan's Chapel United Methodist Church and had recently shared information with reorganizers on the history of the church.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bacon and Leisha Nye, both of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Lilla Amos of Foley and India McKeown of Centerville, Pa.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Restoration Fund of Morgan's Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 88, Bon Secour, AL 36511.
Private graveside services were held Tuesday in Oklahoma City with her grandson, Garon Rose, officiating.
Julia Posey
Julia 'Judy' Posey, a lifelong Mobilian and supporter of many cultural activities in Mobile, died Tuesday after a lengthy illness. She was 60.
Mrs. Posey, whose parents were the late Joseph and Mary Janet Roe, was the granddaughter of Gordon and Mary Pollman Smith. Smith was founder of Smith Bakery. Mrs. Smith was the sister of Fred Pollman, the founder of Pollman's Bakery. In addition, another grandfather, Joe Walsh, founded Walsh Stevedoring Co. Survivors include her husband, James H. Posey; a son, James H. "Jimbo" Posey Jr.; two daughters, Mary Josephine "Jody" Skinner and Jane Kirkpatrick; two sisters, Jane Burton and Jackie Posey; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, with visitation in the Marion Center from noon until service time. Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway is handling arrangements.

Paul Pugh
Paul Pugh, a former silver miner, died Monday at a local hospital at the age of 87.
Pugh, a native of Burnt Corn, Ala., was a resident of Mobile.
Survivors include four children; two sisters, Stella Williamson and Ann Robinson; and three brothers, Elijah Pugh, Carl Pugh and Vernon Pugh.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with graveside services at 10 a.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Casey E. DuBose Jr.
JACKSON - Casey Earl DuBose Jr., who had worked as a self-employed farmer, died Monday at a Mobile hospital. He was 88.
DuBose, a native and resident of Jackson, was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Ollie Dee DuBose of Jackson; and his son, Joe DuBose of Jackson.
Visitation will be at at 1:30 p.m. today at Stave Creek Baptist Church, followed by services at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Stave Creek Baptist Church.

MYRTLEWOOD - Margaret Elouise Fitts, a member of Myrtlewood Baptist Church, died Tuesday at an area hospital. She was 68.
Mrs. Fitts, a native of Sylacauga, Ala., was a resident of Myrtlewood.
Survivors include a son, Don Fitts of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Shelia Leonard of Indianapolis; a brother, William Ernest Winslett Jr. of Montgomery; a sister, Jean Chandler of Montgomery; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6:30 this evening at O'Byrant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden, Ala. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Myrtlewood Baptist Church, with burial in Myrtlewood Cemetery.

Aaron Turk
URIAH - Aaron Turk, who had worked as a machine operator at Vanity Fair Mills, died Sunday in a traffic accident in Baldwin County. He was 18.
Turk, a resident of Uriah, was a graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, William and Marie Turk of Uriah; his grandparents, Loretta Turk of Atmore, Ala., and James and Lucille Timothy of Uriah; two brothers, Cliff Turk of Uriah and Tim Turk of Franklin, Ala.; four sisters, Jennifer Turk, DeAnn Cumbie and Pamela Gregson, all of Uriah, and Paula Robinson of Huxford, Ala.

Allen H. Reed
CAMDEN - Allen Howell Reed, a former self-employed carpenter, died Monday in Camden. He was 99.
Reed was a former resident of Evergreen and had recently moved to Camden.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Reed of Camden; a daughter, Edith Nell Hamil of Madison, Miss.; five sons, James Willard Reed of Huntsville, John H. Reed of Northport, Ala., Phillip W. Reed of Franklin, N.C., Oscar H. Reed of Gulf Shores and Louis S. Reed of Evergreen; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen, with burial in Holly Grove Cemetery.

Lewis Davis
DETROIT - Lewis Davis, a native of Carlton, Ala., in Clarke County and a resident of Detroit, died Sunday. He was 78.
Davis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Davis of Detroit; four sons, Terry Davis, Melvin Davis, Kenneth Davis and Keith Davis, all of Detroit; a brother, Rufus Davis Jr. of Mobile; and a number of grandchildren.
Service are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lockett Memorial Church of God in Christ in Detroit, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit. Stinson Funeral Home, 16540 Meyers, Detroit, MI 48235, is in charge of arrangements.
