Katherine S. Bell
Katherine Stuart Bell, a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 64.
Mrs. Bell was a lifelong resident of Mobile.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Bell Walton; a brother, Leslie Harold Stuart Jr., and a sister, Anne Stuart Howard, all of Mobile.
Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. today at Pine Crest Cemetery, with Pine Crest Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel, 4051 Old Shell Road in Mobile.
James B. Dunnam
EIGHT MILE — James Bryant Dunnam, who was employed at Courtauld's for more than 35 years before he retired, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 72.
Dunnam, who resided in Eight Mile, was a native of Green County, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Kathern Dunnam of Eight Mile; two sons, James Dunnam Jr. and Wayne Dunnam, both of Eight Mile; two daughters, Kathy T. Strickland of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Laurie D. Odom of Quitman, Miss.; a sister, Genevive Walley of Mobile; and six granchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes. Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
W.C. Hamburg
SARALAND — W. C. Hamburg, a native of Clarke County and longtime resident of Saraland, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 83.
Hamburg is survived by his two sons, Mack Hamburg of Saraland and Larry Hamburg of West Point, Miss.; two brothers, Leroy Hamburg of Quitman, Miss., and Cleo Hamburg of Claira, Miss.; a sister, Lizzie Allen of Quitman; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Odist E. Weaver
MOUNT VERNON — Odist Eugene Weaver, a scaffold carpenter at Friede Goldman Offshore Inc., died Thursday in a shipyard accident. He was 25.
Weaver, affectionately known as "O'Bo" to family and friends, was a Mobile native. He resided in Mount Vernon, where he attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Carol Hunnicutt Weaver; a son, Willie Odist Eugene Weaver; two daughters, Carrie Breanna Weaver and Morgan Charlene Weaver; all of Mount Vernon; his mother, Margaret Weaver of Mount Vernon; a brother, William Weaver III of Chickasaw; and four sisters, Jessica Ann Newburn of Fairfield, Carrie Christine Davidson of Calvert, Crystal Weaver of Mount Vernon and Lisa Darlene Sheets of Mobile.
Visitation will this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Adlersgate United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, with burial at Byrd Cemetery.

Elbert S. Nichols
GROVE HILL, Ala. — Elbert Strong Nichols, a member of First Baptist Church of Grove Hill, died Saturday at a local health care facility.
Nichols, 91, was a former heavy equipment mechanic for the state of Alabama.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Nichols of Grove Hill and Howard Nichols of the New Prospect community; a daughter, Betty Tomlinson of Blountstown, Fla.; four sisters, Lorrine Nelson of Fayette, Edna Clark and Ruth Ertle, both of Northport, and Cloyce Grissett of Flomaton; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Lucy L. Johnson
ATMORE — Lucy Lambert Johnson, a retired business owner and child-care provider, died Friday at an Atmore hospital. She was 78.
Mrs. Johnson, who resided in Atmore, was a native of Escambia County. She attended Escambia schools and was a member of Jones Street True Holiness Church in Atmore.
She is survived by her son, Richard Johnson of Moundville, Ala.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Viewing will be Tuesday at Jones Street True Holiness Church in Atmore from 1 p.m. until services begin at 2 p.m., with burial at Stallworth Cemetery.

Hayborn S. Hanks
GULF BREEZE, Fla. — Heyborn S. Hanks, a native of Monroe County, Ala., and a lifelong resident of Frisco City, died Friday in Gulf Breeze. He was 89.
Hanks is survived by a son, Harold R. Hanks of Pensacola; a daughter, Jeanette Schiely of Bedford Heights, Ohio; a brother, Willard Hanks of Mobile; and a sister, Blanche Borom of Monroeville.
Graveside services are set for 4 p.m. today at Shiloh Cemetery in Frisco City.
Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.
Jeannie Hester-Mixon
ETOWAH, Tenn. — Jeannie Marie Hester-Mixon, a native of Etowah and a former longtime resident of Mobile, died Saturday at a hospital in Tennessee. She was 49.
Mrs. Hester-Mixon is survived by her husband, Frank "Mike" Mixon of Etowah, and two sisters, Jenna Barratt of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathy Hitchcock of Etowah.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Zeigler Funeral Home in Etowah. Services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Greenhills Cemetery in Etowah.
The family prefers memorials to the donors' favorite charities.
Lillian F. McGillivray
TUSCALOOSA — Lillian F. McGillivray, a former resident of Gulf Shores, died Saturday, August 14,1999, in a local healthcare facility. She was 96.
Mrs. McGillivray is survived by her daughters Joan Brown of Tuscaloosa and Colleen Dunn of Gulf Shores; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa.

STAPLETON — Bobby Wayne Higdon, a native of Oppeleussas, La., died Saturday, August, 14, 1999 at his residence in Stapleton. He was 43.
Higdon is survived by his wife, Eulane Higdon of Stapleton; one son, Bobby Wayne Higdon Jr. of St. Landry, La.; one daughter, Courtney Delores Higdon of St. Landry; one stepson, George Lester York Jr. of Stapleton; his mother and stepfather, Rose Belle and Nolan Pierce of Bunkie, La.; one brother, Michael L. Smith of Bunkie, and one sister, Faye Higdon of Bunkie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale with services at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Stapleton.

Louis F. Adler Jr.
Louis F. Adler Jr., a career accountant, died Monday at the family residence. He was 81.
Adler, a lifelong Mobilian, was an accountant for 43 years with International Paper Co., and for 16 years with Johnstone-Adams Law Firm.
He was a former Faithful Navigator of the Archbishop Thomas J. Toolen Council of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council No. 666, the Cavalier Club and the National Association of Accountants.
The 1936 McGill Institute graduate was a lifetime parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Mcatee Adler of Mobile; a daughter, Lennie Adler of Mobile; two brothers, Edward J. Adler of Mobile and Robert D. Adler of New Jersey; a sister, Rose Adler Woodman of New Jersey; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery.

Laura Estelle Crowder, who had worked as a seamstress for Mobile Rug and Shade Co. for several years, died Monday in Alabaster, Ala. She was 89.
Mrs. Crowder, a native of Meridian, Miss., was a longtime resident of the Mobile area. She was a member of Theodore First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Edna Kelley of Pelham, Ala., and Harold Crowder of Saraland; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Sister Mary Matilda Donivan
Sister Mary Matilda Donivan, R.S.M., a former Catholic school teacher and principal, died Monday at a local hospital. She was 89.
The native Mobilian entered the Sisters of Mercy Sept. 8, 1935, and professed her final vows Aug. 16, 1938.
In Mobile, she taught at St. Ignatius School, St. Mary's School and St. Joan of Arc School, where she also served as principal.
She had taught at St. Vincent's School and Sacred Heart School in Baltimore; St. Aloysius School in Bessemer, Ala.; St. Anthony's School in Ensley, Ala.; Blessed Sacrament School in Savannah, Ga., and St. Michael's School in Pensacola.
Among her survivors is her sister, Mary Frances Donivan of Mobile.
Visitation will be Wednesday at the Convent of Mercy from 4 to 6 p.m., with the rosary to be recited at 5:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Convent of Mercy, with burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Iota F. Green
Iota F. Green, who formerly worked in sales at Gayfer's Department Store for many years, died Sunday at a local nursing facility. She was 92.
Mrs. Green, who resided in Mobile, was a native of Mississippi.
Survivors include her nephew, Lawrence W. Green of Mobile.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mobile Memorial Gardens, with visitation at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until services begin.
Lonnie Kyles
PRICHARD — Lonnie Kyles, who had worked as a cement finisher, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 63.
Kyles, who resided in Prichard, was a native of Daphne.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Kyles of Prichard; three children, Alexis McGinney, Cekita McGinney and George McGinney, all of Mobile; a stepdaughter, Shaliaheia Conner; three sisters, Diane Ellis and Elizabeth Mayes, both of High Springs, Fla., and Gloria Ann Barber of Trenton, N.J.; six brothers, William Kyles of Detroit, Johnnie Parker of Fort Worth, Texas, Theophus Hixon of Trenton, James Hixon of Long Island, N.J., Pedro Hixon of High Springs and Charles Hixon of Gainesville, Fla.; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Reese Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Plateau Cemetery.
Sister Mary Placida Swann
Sister Mary Placida Swann, R.S.M., who had taught at a number of Catholic schools in Alabama and Florida, died Sunday at a local medical facility. She was 86.
The Mobile native entered the Sisters of Mercy on Sept. 8, 1930, and professed her final vows Aug. 16, 1936.
She had taught at St. Joseph's School, St. Mary's School and St. Joan of Arc School as well as schools in Selma and Apalachicola, Fla. She served as principal at St. Mary's School in Huntsville and at St. John's School in Warrington, Fla.
She is survived by her brother, George Swann of Mobile.
A Mass of Christian burial is set fort 3 p.m. today at the Convent of Mercy, with burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Timothy J. Jenkins
GILBERTOWN — Timothy Jay Jenkins, who worked as a lift truck operator with Fort James, died Monday at a hospital in Birmingham. He was 39.
Jenkins, a lifelong Choctaw County resident, resided in Gilbertown and was a member of Mosley Bridge Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Jenkins; a son, Timothy Jacob Jenkins; three daughters, Mandy Michelle Jenkins, Angie Cleveland and Robbie Mitchell; and his parents, Julie Marie Downey and J.W. Jenkins, all of Gilbertown; and two sisters, Evon J. Holander of New York and Karen J. Doggett of Gilbertown.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown.

Wilburn M. Wasden
PETERMAN — Wilburn Marion "Sonny" Wasden, who had worked as a welder in the construction industry, died Saturday. He was 42.
A native of Monroe County, Wasden resided in Peterman.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Wasden; two sons, Derek Wasden and Justin Wasden; a daughter, Marilee Wasden, all of Peterman; three sisters, Eldora Jernigan of Fort Worth, Texas, Annice Cowart of Dawson, Ga., and Debra Tucker of Mary Esther, Fla.; and a grandson.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Monroeville First Baptist Church, with burial at Rumbley Cemetery in Peterman.
