Matthew Englund
Matthew Carson Englund died Wednesday at a local hospital at the age of 18 months.
He was a member of Creekwood Church of Christ on Schillinger Road.
Survivors include his parents, Regina Carson Englund and Bruce M. Englund; a brother, Mitchell Carter Englund; and two sisters, Courtney Lynn Englund and Monica Leigh Englund, all of Mobile; and his grandparents, Murdock and Ona Mae Carson of Gulfport, Miss., and Doris Mae Englund of Mobile.
The wake is scheduled at 9 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Creekwood Church of Christ. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Ella Mae Harrison
Ella Mae Harrison, a homemaker, died Thursday. She was 78.
Mrs. Harrison was a native of Washington County and a longtime resident of Semmes.
Survivors include three daughters, Sara Gutierrez of Prattville, Ala., Voncile Snider of Semmes and Martha Wilson of Kingwood, Texas; two brothers, John Harvison of Grand Bay and Elmore Harvison of Semmes; a sister, Elizabeth Anderson of Semmes; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with services at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
Allie Platt
Allie Platt, a homemaker, died Wednesday in a local convalescent center.
Mrs. Platt, 88, was a native and resident of Citronelle.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin P. Platt, Beverly D. Platt and Phillip P. Platt; and a sister, Adele Melton, all of Citronelle; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Citronelle. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle.

Nellie Van Bryant
ATMORE - Nellie Van Bryant, a member of Christ Temple EPC Church, died Tuesday. She was 60.
Mrs. Bryant was a native of Linden, Ala. She had lived in Atmore for the past 43 years.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy B. Johnson and Jacqueline V. Bryant, both of Houston, Angela Tabb, Janice Bryant and Van Lisa Bryant, all of Atmore; four sons, Ronnie L. Bryant of Bryan, Texas, Charles E. Bryant of Worms, Germany, Kenneth R. Byrant and Marlon Stallworth Bryant, both of Atlanta; three sisters, Lois Lawson of Detroit, Eva Burrows of Gautier, Miss., and Bertha Denis of Portland, Ore.; four brothers, Roosevelt Stallworth, Bennie Stallworth and Issac Stallworth, all of Moss Point, Miss., and Cemarian Stallworth of Gautier; and 10 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with visitation from 7 to 8 p.m., at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church, with viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Willie Easley
Willie Easley, a retired longshoreman with ILA Local No. 1410, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 71.
Easley, known affectionately as "Bo-Weaver" to family and friends, was a Marengo County native and a Prichard resident.
He was a member of Greater Nazaree Baptist Church No. 1, where he served as a trustee, a member of the usher board and vice president of the male chorus.
Survivors include three daughters, Emma Black of Selma, Ida Jackson of Thomasville, Ala., and Irma Jackson of Mobile; six sons, Carl Poellnitz, Michael Poellnitz and Cleophus Grimes of Mobile, Joe Easley of Sweet Water, Ala., Curtis Rogers of Linden, Ala., and Johnnie Easley of Cincinnati; a brother, Alex Easley of Mobile; a sister, Martha McIntosh of Linden, Ala.; and 25 grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Nazaree Baptist Church No. 1, followed by services at noon. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Reese Funeral Home.
Herbert L. Michael
Herbert L. Michael, a retired math and science teacher for the Mobile County Public School System, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 63.
Michael, a Prichard native and Mobile resident, was a 1953 graduate of Mobile County Training School. He was a roofer by trade and a teacher-counselor for Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of Samuel Chapel AME Church, where he served as both secretary and treasurer. He was a member of the Lions Club of Cedar Grove No. 628, Prince Hall Grand Lodge of A&FM
He is survived by his wife, Susie Ward Michael of Mobile; one son, Ephriam Michael of Atlanta; his mother, Eunice Michael of Prichard; one sister, Helen Hudnell of Prichard; two brothers, Curtis Michael of Mobile and Leroy Michael of Detroit; and two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Reese Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Samuel Chapel AME Church, follwed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dotsie E. Hastings
KUSHLA — Dotsie Elderan Hastings, a native of Gulfport, Miss., died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 97.
Mrs. Hastings was a member of Semmes First Assembly of God, the Kushla Garden Club, the World War I Women's Auxiliary and American War Mothers of World War II. She was also a volunteer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Biloxi.
She is survived by four sons, Ernest L. Campbell and Samuel A. Campbell, both of Chunchula, Loren S. Campbell of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Charles W. Hastings of Citronelle; two daughters, Olivette Kelley of Leakesville, Miss., and Ina C. Shaw of Mobile; one brother, Orin Harvey Parker Jr. of Mobile; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, and services will be at 10 a.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Burial will be in Elam Cemetery in Eight Mile.
Grady Rutledge
SEMMES — Grady Rutledge, a retired shipbuilder, died Sunday at a local health care facility. He was 89.
Rutledge was a native of Nettleboro, Ala., and a resident of Semmes.
He is survived by two daughters, Patsy Foster of Wilmer and Dorothy Scott of Houston, Texas; one son, Billy J. Rutledge of Semmes; one brother, A. Rutledge of Clarke County, Ala.; one sister, Lorena Nelson of Thomasville; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
Marie Weitzel
SEMMES — Marie Weitzel, a native of Michigan and a resident of Semmes, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 84.
Mrs. Weitzel is survived by one son, Donald Weitzel of Chesterton, Ind.; one daughter, Patricia Johnson of Semmes; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Wynette R. White, a native of Birmingham and a former resident of Daphne, died in Lexington, S.C., Saturday. She was 84.

Micheala Lochrica
ELBERTA — Infant Micheala Lochrica, a resident of Elberta, died Saturday, August 21, 1999 in a New Orleans hospital. She was five weeks old.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Aimee Lochrica of Elberta; her grandparents, Robert and Sandra Vasko, Jacquelin Lochrica; and her great-grandmother, Lillian Harrison.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swift First Presbyterian Church with services at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home of Foley.
Richard Malcolm Arnold Sr.
SUMMERDALE — Richard Malcolm Arnold Sr., a native of San Diego, Calif. and resident of Summerdale, died Saturday, August 21, 1999 in a local hospital. He was 57.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen R. Arnold of Summerdale; three sons, Keith Thomas Arnold of Foley, Michael Kevin Arnold of Summerdale, and Richard Malcolm Arnold of Foley; two daughters, Catherine Colleen Arnold of Mobile and Leslie Arnold of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Thomas Roger Arnold of Titusville, Fla., and Robert Angus Arnold Jr. of Fairview; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley with services at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Pine Rest Memorial Park. The family requests any memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., Suite 1100, New York, NY 10016.

Robert Henry George Jr.
Robert Henry George Jr., who had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years, died Sunday at his home. He was 61.
A native of North Adams, Mass., George was a resident of Chunchula. He was a transportation supervisor with the postal service.
He received his degree in business and administration, and also held teaching credentials in history and social sciences in secondary school.
A decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the American Legion.
George was a member of Fulton Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda G. George of Chunchula; his mother, Eileen Benoit George; four daughters, Yvonne George Pickard and Sherry George Snyder of Pownal, Vt., Lisa George Vanderbilt and Sharon George McLaughlin of Katy, Texas; two stepdaughters, Karen Melissa Etheredge and Lisa A. Bush, both of Mobile; five sons, Ronald George and Robert George of North Pownal, Vt., Brian George of Sarasota, Fla., Mark George of Emmitsburg, Md., and Patrick George of Panama City, Fla.; a stepson, Lemuel B. Crouch III of Alabama; three brothers, Stuart George of Ganesvoort, N.Y., Craig George of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Dale George of Stillwater, N.Y.; and one sister, Deborah Robinson Brainerd of Mobile.

Sean Michael Morrison-Swain
Sean Michael Morrison-Swain, a student at Satsuma High School, died Thursday near Mount Vernon. He was 18.
The Saraland native and resident was a member of Saraland AOH Church where he was choir member.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Carmen Swain of Saraland; five brothers, DeAngelious Morrison of Boston, David Morrison, Charles Morrison, Patrick Swain and Brandon Swain, all of Saraland; and his grandmother, Estelle Slay of Mobile.
The wake will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Saraland United Methodist Church on McKeough St. in Saraland, where services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Bailey Cemetery in Saraland with Memorial Funeral Home of Prichard directing.
Robert James Scott
Robert James Scott, a native and resident of Grand Bay, died Sunday, Aug. 22 in his residence. He was 66.
Known as "Spriggie" to family and friends, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean War and was a Merchant Seaman. He was an active member of local C.B. clubs.
He is survived by one son, Robert Gene Scott of Grand Bay.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Serenity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Idean D. Simpson
Idean D. Simpson, a native Mobilian, died Aug. 16 in Los Angeles at the age of 87.
Mrs. Simpson had lived in California the past several years.
She was a seamstress and enjoyed baking cakes for neighbors. She had been a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mobile.
Survivors include her son, James. C. Simpson Jr. of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 304 Sengstak Avenue.
