MOBILE COUNTY
Robert Henry George Jr.
Robert Henry George Jr., who had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years, died Sunday at his home. He was 61.
A native of North Adams, Mass., George was a resident of Chunchula. He was a transportation supervisor with the postal service.
He received his degree in business and administration, and also held teaching credentials in history and social sciences in secondary school.
A decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the American Legion.
George was a member of Fulton Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda G. George of Chunchula; his mother, Eileen Benoit George; four daughters, Yvonne George Pickard and Sherry George Snyder of Pownal, Vt., Lisa George Vanderbilt and Sharon George McLaughlin of Katy, Texas; two stepdaughters, Karen Melissa Etheredge and Lisa A. Bush, both of Mobile; five sons, Ronald George and Robert George of North Pownal, Vt., Brian George of Sarasota, Fla., Mark George of Emmitsburg, Md., and Patrick George of Panama City, Fla.; a stepson, Lemuel B. Crouch III of Alabama; three brothers, Stuart George of Ganesvoort, N.Y., Craig George of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Dale George of Stillwater, N.Y.; and one sister, Deborah Robinson Brainerd of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Fulton Road Baptist Church. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Kathleen Simmons Greggs
Kathleen Simmons Greggs, a native of Whistler and resident of Mobile, died Monday at a local hospital.
Survivors include six children, Walter Greggs Jr., Michael Greggs, John Greggs, Patrick Greggs, Kathleen Knight and Diana Leigh; two sisters; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Revelation Missionary Baptist Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Johnson-Allen Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Marshall Hunt Sr.
Marshall Hunt Sr., a retired civil servant who had worked at Brookley Air Force Base and Pensacola Naval Air Station, died Monday at his home. He was 75.
Hunt, a resident of Mobile, was the first director of Franklin Memorial Clinic.
The World War II veteran was a member of Stone Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, treasurer and president of the senior usher board.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie L. Hunt; four children, Marshall Hunt Jr., Martha Hunt Smith, Gloria Hunt Scott and Roy E. Hunt; two sisters, Abbie Hunt Martin and Alice Hunt; and a brother, Jiles Hunt.
Visitation will be at Stone Street Baptist Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery. Johnson-Allen Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Tunstall Inge Wilson
Tunstall Inge Wilson, a retiree of the Alabama State Docks, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 72.
A lifelong Mobilian, Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his daughters, Zelda Young, Maureen Hickman, Jamelle Wilson, Joyce Wilson and Faybian D. Wilson, all of Mobile; his sons, Angelo M. Wilson of Mobile, Wellington Wilson of Prichard and Tunstall Wilson Jr. of Fort Washington, Md.; his sisters, Frances Abrams of Washington, D.C., Cora A. Wilson and Mary Butler, both of Mobile; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Big Zion AME Zion Church, 112 S. Bayou St., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Johnson-Allen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Martha S. Barton
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Martha S. Barton, a former Mobile resident, died Friday in a Cheyenne-area medical facility. She was 61.
Mrs. Barton, a native of New Orleans, had lived in Mobile before moving to Cheyenne in 1965.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a past member of Holy Trinity Council of Catholic Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Wright of Cypress, Texas, and Dawn Haynes of Las Vegas.
Cremation took place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to United Medical Center Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Cathy Grow Friedberg
PENSACOLA - Cathy Grow Friedberg, a native Mobilian and resident of Pensacola since 1987 died Sunday at her home after a four-year battle with cancer. She was 50.
Mrs. Friedberg spent eight years as a teacher at Orchard Elementary School in Mobile and 10 years teaching at Gulf Shores Elementary School.
She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa honorary teachers' sorority and the National Association of Educators for Young Children.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Warrington, Fla., serving as a member of the vestry, a lay reader and a chalice minister.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, John W. Friedberg of Pensacola; a son, John W. Friedberg Jr. of Mobile; two daughters, Amy Elizabeth Kurz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Emily Ann Friedberg of Talladega, Ala.; two brothers, Davis M. Grow of Daphne and Joseph F. Grow of Pensacola; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Warrington. Oak Lawn Funeral Home of Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund; the American Cancer Society; or the Hospice of Northwest Florida.
Karen Rene McInnis Gay
DESTIN, Fla. - Karen "Candy" Rene McInnis Gay, a resident of Destin and granddaughter of late Prichard Mayor G.V. "Red" Dismukes, died Saturday in a traffic accident in Denver. She was 38.
Ms. Gay, a native of Carmel, Ind., worked as a senior training specialist with Computer Sciences Corp., and traveled worldwide. She was formerly employed with UniversalCom.
A graduate of Carmel High School, she received her bachelor of arts degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
She completed ROTC training and was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.
She was a member of Village Baptist Church in Destin, the International Club in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and numerous other clubs and organizations.
Survivors include her parents, Dot Dismukes Mecca of Indianapolis, and P. Sam and Joyce McInnis of Destin; two sisters, Patricia Wilson of Indianapolis and Sharon Marie O'Connell of Martinsville, Ind.
Memorial services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Village Baptist Church, 101 Matthew Boulevard in Destin. Visitation will be Saturday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. services.

Loma Pettway Lewis
Loma Pettway Lewis, a native of Boykin, Ala., and resident of Mobile, died Aug. 20 at a local nursing facility. She was 75.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of First Baptist Church of Carver Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Oluvia Lewis; two sisters, Anna Young of Boykin and Beatrice Irby of Birmingham; three brothers, Marcus Pettway of Mobile, Fines Pettway and Bruce Pettway, both of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, with services at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Carver Home. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery, with Reese Funeral Home of Prichard directing.
Willie Mae Finch
Willie Mae Finch, a homemaker and member of Sunlight Baptist Church, died Aug. 19 at a local hospital. She was 88.
Mrs. Finch was a native of Marengo County and a resident of Mobile.
She had been active in her church until her health failed.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Finch of Mobile; her sister, Rose Edwards of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at noon Saturday, with services at 1 p.m., at Mosley Funeral Home, 803 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in Prichard. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Amelia S.T. Hollins
Amelia Scott Tate Hollins, a retired educator with the Mobile County Public School System, died Aug. 20 at a local health care facility. She was 77.
Mrs. Hollins, a lifelong Mobilian, was a member of St. Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as past president of the Progressive Workers, past chairwoman of the Sun Beam, and a member of the Holloway-Robbins Guild and Queen Ester Circle.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Hollins of Mobile; her son, William S. Tate Jr. of Detroit; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church, 108 Dearborn St., with visitation at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Lois L. Ellis
ROBERTSDALE - Lois L. Ellis, a resident of Robertsdale, died Wednesday in Robertsdale at the age of 86.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Hanson of Daphne, Linda Palmer of Augusta, Ga., Brenda Eddings of Robertsdale, Sharron Marquis of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Susan Jones of Mobile; a son, Herbert Ellis Jr. of Daphne; two brothers, Jack Bingham of and Murry Bingham, both of Mobile; a sister, Virginia Senius of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen, Ala., with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
Louise P. McGraw
BAY MINETTE - Louise Pierce McGraw, a retired treasurer with Production Credit Corp., died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Mrs. McGraw, a native of Stonewall, Miss., was a resident of Bay Minette. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette, the Pilot Club and the Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include her brother, A.C. Reeves of Mobile.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Lloyd H. Hastings
BAY MINETTE - Lloyd Hallard Hastings, a retired farmer, died Wednesday. He was 82.
A native of Escambia County, Fla., Hastings had lived in the Pine Grove community near Bay Minette for 70 years.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Leveta Hastings of Bay Minette; three sons, Lloyd Gilbert Hastings of Bay Minette, Charles Robert "Bob" Hastings II of Orange Beach and Randall Hastings of Stapleton; four daughters, Joyce Bray of Columbus, Miss., Norma Wiser of Helena, Ala., Lisa Pritchett of Evergreen, Ala., and Lucy Compain of Katy, Texas; a sister, Thelma Gilbert of Bay Minette; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with graveside services at 11 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery. Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore is handling arrangements.

Mattie Robinson
JACKSON - Mattie Robinson, a homemaker and member of St. Union Baptist Church of Jackson, died Monday at a local nursing facility. She was 94.
Mrs. Robinson was a lifelong resident of Clarke County.
She had served on the missionary society at her church.
Survivors include five sons, Jesse Robinson, James Robinson and Marvin Robinson, all of Jackson, the Rev. Bobby Robinson of Indian Head, Md., and David Robinson of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Janie Williams of Jackson, Voncile James of Queens, N.Y., and Betty R. Marshall of Detroit; 32 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson with viewing one hour before. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Henry Earl Daughtry
ATMORE - Henry Earl Daughtry, a retired factory worker, died Tuesday at a hospital in Atmore. He was 50.
Daughtry, a native of Walnut Hill, Fla., lived most of his life in Atmore where he was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. He retired from Standard Furniture Co. of Bay Minette.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a 1968 graduate of Escambia County Training School.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Diane Daughtry of Atmore; a daughter, Elsamore Michelle Hubert of Jacksonville, N.C.; his mother, Ora Bell Daughtry of Atmore; three sisters, Patricia Coles of Denver, Brenda Gibbs of Monroeville, Ala., and Sandra Knight of Atmore; one brother, Charles Edward Daughtry of Atmore; his grandmother, Gertrude Bradley of Walnut Hill; and two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with visitation from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaines Chapel AME Church in Atmore, with viewing one hour before. Burial will be in Lucious Cemetery.
Addie L. Daniels
ATMORE - Addie L. Daniels, a homemaker and member of Greater Mount Triumph Church in Atmore, died Monday at a local hospital at the age of 105.
Mrs. Daniels was a native of Baldwin County, where she attended school. She had lived in Atmore most of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Louise G. McCants of Atmore; two sons, O.B. Johnson of Port Salerno, Fla., and W.G. Johnson of Atmore; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore, with visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Triumph Baptist Church, with viewing one hour before. Burial will be in Lucious Cemetery.
