MOBILE COUNTY
Dave Kyser
Dave Kyser, who retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. after more than 25 years, died Tuesday at his home.
Kyser, a native of Uriah, Ala., was a longtime Prichard resident. He was a member of El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Mamie McQueen; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services.
Julius L. Degive III
Julius L. DeGive III, a former resident of Hoschton, Ga., who was living in Mobile, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999. He was 63.
He is survived by two sons, Julius Louis DeGive IV of Talapoosa, Ga., and James Lee DeGive of Stockbridge, Ga.; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Rexhauser of Hoschton, Ga., and Rebecca Ann DeGive of Talapoosa, Ga.; two brothers, Dennis Westmoreland DeGive and Dudley Brian DeGive, both of Atlanta, and three grandchildren.
A memorial service for DeGive will be held at 4 p.m. today at Fairhope Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are by Fairhope Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
Ora C. Phillips
Ora Charlene Phillips, a native of Dry Creek, Miss., and resident of Chickasaw, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 75.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by one son, Gerald Thomas Phillips of Birmingham; two daughters, Lillie Kay Phillips of Birmingham and Carol Monk of Mobile; two brothers, Hershell Murley and Perry Murley Jr., both of Zion, Ill.; one sister, Irene Hutchison of Holley Springs, Miss.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Artie Lee Blackard
FOLEY - Artie Lee Blackard, a native of Carrizo Springs, Texas, and a resident of Foley, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999. She was 70.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Blackard of Foley; one daughter, Verna Cobern of Orange Beach; two sons, Glenn Blackard of Phoenix and Vernon M. Blackard Jr. of Orange Beach; two sisters, Jean Love of Carrizo Springs and Anna Claire Moorman of Houston; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held today at the Leonard Funeral Home in Carrizo Springs with burial to take place in Carrizo Springs Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory in Robertsdale.
Lucille Rose Bauman
SILVERHILL - Lucille Rose Bauman, a native of Brewton and a resident of Silverhill, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999. She was 71.
She is survived by her husband, Roy W. Bauman and her son, Michael Bauman, both of Silverhill; her daughter, Myra Sheridan of Tallahassee, Fla., and a sister, Ethel Smith of Brewton; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.

Annell H. Miller
NEEDHAM - Annell H. Miller, a local seamstress, died Wednesday at her residence in Needham. She was 59.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Burman Miller of Needham; one son, Rickey Miller of Butler; one daughter, Lisa M. Carney of Gilbertown; three brothers, Clayton Hoffman of Amarillo, Texas, Winston Hoffman of Stephenville, Texas, and Joe Hoffman of Citronelle; two sisters, Helen Mosley and Fannie Brantley, both of Saraland; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonightat Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Friday at Needham Gospel Center. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery in Needham.

Winnie Satterfield
ATMORE - Winnie Lee Smith Satterfield, who had worked as a waitress at Pizza Hut, died Wednesday in Pensacola at the age of 68.
Mrs. Satterfield, a native of Clay County, was a resident of Atmore.
Survivors include three sons, Robert E. Maughon and Jerry E. Maughon, both of Atmore, and Jimmy M. Maughon of Stockton; a daughter, Wendy L. Wright of Atmore; two brothers, Delton Jack Smith of Atmore and James Olen Smith of Wetumpka, Ala.; two sisters, Nona Porterfield of Uriah, Ala., and Adel Futral of Mobile; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, where services are set for 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Willie Odom
MEXIA - Willie Odom, a native of Sweet Water and resident of Mexia, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 65.
Odom was employed by Harrigan Lumber Co., where he was supervisor of the saw mill.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Odom of Mexia; two sons, Willie Randall Odom of Frisco City and Christopher Scott Odom of Mexia; one daughter, Barbara Ann Hicks of Saraland; one stepson, Daniel Glenn of Monroeville; one stepdaughter, Lisa Legear of Monroeville; three brothers, Royce C. Odom and Wallace Odom, both of Thomasville, and Otis Odom of Citronelle; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial will be in Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.
Lee K. Stuckey
MEGARGEL - Lee Kendrick Stuckey, a native of Farmerville, La., and resident of Megargel, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 34.
Mrs. Stuckey worked as a pulp grader at Alabama Pine Pulp.
She is survived by her husband, Scottie Stuckey of Megargel; her parents, Richard and Thelma Kendrick of Frisco City; one brother, Douglas E. Kendrick of Frisco City; and one sister, Wanda Bailey of Frisco City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, with services scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Sowell Old Field Cemetery in Goodway.

Kathleen Barrington
CULLMAN, Ala. - Kathleen M. Barrington, a native of Mobile and resident of Cullman, died Sunday at her residence. She was 38.
Survivors include five sisters, Elizabeth Marenghi of Los Angeles, Cheryl White of Wyoming, Mich., Linda Wooden of Pierson, Mich., Yolanda Hyndman of Bowdon, Ga., and Regina Tallman of Mobile; and five brothers, Michael Barrington of Jackson, Ga., Tony Barrington of Sarasota, Fla., and Stephen Barrington, Scott Barrington and Joey Barrington, all of Chickasaw.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with graveside services at 1 p.m. Friday in Catholic Cemetery.
Lester R. Pippen
OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. - Lester R. "Pip" Pippen, a former tugboat deckman, died Wednesday at his residence. He was 56.
Pippen is survived by his daughter, Dell Olene Wallen of Ocean Springs; his mother, Lois Pippen Levins of Satsuma; three brothers, Timothy A. Levins of Chunchula, and William Gaylon Levins and Lloyd Leslie Levins, both of Satsuma; one sister, Mary Lee Kilpatrick of Saraland; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. in Satsuma Cemetery.
JoAnn Slovak
ENNIS, Texas - JoAnn Slovak, a native Mobilian and resident of Ennis, died Sunday at the age of 41.
Mrs. Slovak was a receptionist with the Dallas Morning News for more than 15 years.
Survivors include her husband, Joe David Slovak of Ennis; her father, Willie James Foster of Pace, Fla.; her mother, Marjorie Daugherty of Ennis; two stepdaughters, Lisa Renae Slovak of Mansfield, Texas, and Krissie Marie Hoselton of Azle, Texas; three brothers, Guy Foster and Richard D. Foster, both of Mobile, and Willie J. Foster Jr. of Ennis; a stepbrother, Matthew Foster of Pace; a half-sister, Crystal Cota of Milton, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be at noon today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with graveside services set for 2 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
William J. Rimes, S.J.
OAK HARBOR, WASH - William J. Rimes, S.J., former president of Spring Hill College, died July 27 at his sister's home. He served as the 32nd president of the college from 1966 to 1972. During that time, he was responsible for numerous changes, including the construction of Yancey Hall, the biology building; O'Leary Hall, the women's dormitory; and Diegnan Hall, the chemistry building.
Before and after his tenure as president, he served as a chemistry professor. He began his career there in 1951, retiring in 1982 to take a position as parish priest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help then later pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, both in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Rimes attended Spring Hill College as an undergraduate in 1935, then left to receive his religious training in Grand Coteau, La. He returned to the college and received his bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1943.
Rimes had been a Jesuit for 63 years and a priest for 50 years.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Washington in July.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Chapel. His cremated remains will be buried in the Jesuit Cemetery at Spring Hill College.
