MOBILE COUNTY
Josephine A. Brown
Josephine Angelo Brown, a Pensacola, Fla., native and longtime Mobile resident, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the ACCW Dothan Deanery, the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 49 and a mystic society.
She is survived by three daughters, Vicki Reeves, Georgia B. Gartman and Mary Jo Wilder, all of Mobile; one brother, Harry Gordon Angelo-Grellia, and one sister, Cora Louise Angelo Lee, both of Pensacola; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Monday until services begin at 1 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.

Ruby Pugh Jones
CHUNCHULA - Ruby Pugh Jones, a Chunchula resident, died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 68.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall E. Jones of Chunchula; her daughter, Jennifer J. Rockwell of Mobile; three sisters, Elvia Pugh of Pensacola, Fla., Erma Wyrosdic of Mobile and Virgie Mae Ackridge of Lillian; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland and at 1 p.m. Monday at Kushla Baptist Church. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Archie W. Koblas
Archie W. Koblas, a Lesterville, S.D., native and longtime Mobile resident, died Saturday in a local hospital. He was 89.
Koblas was a retired electrical engineer from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Koblas of Mobile; one son, James Koblas of Mobile, six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the services at 11 a.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Mobile. Burial will in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Wanda E. Stoops
Wanda E. Stoops, a Kennett, Mo., native and longtime Chickasaw resident, died Saturday at a local health care facility. She was 64.
Mrs. Stoops was a homemaker and a member of Saraland Kingdom Hall.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Stoops; two sons, David I. Stoops and John D. Stoops; one daughter, Betsy Jackson; two brothers, Billy Wridings and A.I. Wridings; three sisters, Kathleen Bairefield, Margie McLaughlin and Kay S. Wridings; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be announced at a later date. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling arrangements.

Thurston G. Griffin
MEGARGEL - Thurston Gilbert Griffin, a Monroe County native, died Thursday at his home.
Griffin is survived by two brothers, Arnold Griffin of Megargel and Jack Griffin of Goodway; and four sisters, Virginia Turk and Daisy Williams, both of Megargel, Larrine Davidson of Decatur, and Doris Davis of Frisco City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Megargel Assembly Church of God. Burial will be in Sowell Old Field Cemetery in Goodway.

Jackie Jarvis Confer
FAIRHOPE - Jackie Jarvis Confer, 54, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999. She was a resident of Quinton, Ala.
Survivors include her daughter, Tabitha Higginbotham of Fairhope; her mother, Laura R. Bailey of Fairhope; two sisters, Mava E. Jackson of Birmingham and Cynthia A. Danne of Fairhope; a brother, Charles H. Jarvis of Fairhope; and one grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 o'clock today at Montrose Cemetery, and the Rev. Mel Jacobs will officiate.
Arrangements are by Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope.
Marvin Earl Bryant Jr.
BAY MINETTE - The funeral service for Marvin Earl "Muscles" Bryant Jr. of Bay Minette will be held at 2 this afternoon at Norris Funeral Home. The Rev. C.J. Hogan will officiate and burial will follow in Richerson Cemetery.
Bryant, 61, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, in Bay Minette. The Atmore resident was a millwright and had served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Earp of Magnolia Springs and Amy Lynn McDonald of Bay Minette; a brother, Robert Glenn Bryant of Bay Minette; three sisters, Anne B. Knight and Angelous Peaden, both of Bay Minette, and Betty Lyles of Marietta, Ga.; and one grandson.
Funeral arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.
Charles Terrell Fowler
ROBERTSDALE - Charles Terrell "Terry" Fowler, a native of Fayette County and a resident of Mobile, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999. He was 58.
He is survived by his wife, Bernadine Ammons Fowler of Columbia, Tenn.; his mother, Lois Johnston Fowler of Mobile; two daughters, Stephanie Lyn Fowler of San Luis Obispo, Ca. and Stacy Hanback of Columbia, Tenn.; one brother, T. Wayne Fowler of Theodore and one grandson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale, followed by graveside services at 2 p.m. at Baldwin Memorial Cemetery in Robertsdale.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation. Local funeral arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
Albert Simon Hinote
ROBERTSDALE - Albert Simon "Bo" Hinote, a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Robertsdale, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999. He was 78.
He is survived by one daughter, Sue Greek of Robertsdale.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Greek Cemetery in Robertsdale. Funeral arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
Ronald Micheal Diegan
MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - Ronald Michael Diegan Sr., a resident of Mobile, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1999, at a local hospital. He was 61.
He retired as a sergeant with the Mobile County Sheriff's Department after 28 years of service. Diegan was involved in bowling in Mobile, coached junior bowlers and was inducted into the Greater Mobile Bowling Association Bowlers Hall of Fame. In addition he served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Diegan of Mobile; his mother, Clara Diegan of Magnolia Springs; three sons, Ronald M.
Diegan Jr., Michael P. Diegan II and Shon Diegan, all of Mobile; one brother, Richard Allen Diegan; one sister, JoAnn Stewart of Magnolia Springs and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Magnolia Springs. Burial will take place in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Patricia Ruth Adams
FAIRHOPE - Patricia Ruth Adams, a resident of Fairhope, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999. She was 59.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Adams of Fairhope; her mother, Wilma Basden of Huntsville; two sons, Charles Beverly of Pensacola and Patrick Beverly of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Pamela Bradley of Bellaire, Texas; two stepdaughters, Denise Bellezza of Douglasville, Ga., and Beth Cook of Huntsville; two stepsons, Stuart Adams of Fairhope and David Adams of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 tonight at Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield.

Eldon E. Stowe
CENTRALIA, Mo. - Eldon Everett Stowe, a veteran of World War II, died Wednesday in Centralia, Mo. He was 80.
Stowe, a native of Holbrook, Neb., and a former resident of Mobile, worked as an electrician and for the Missouri National Guard as an aircraft mechanic. He also won numerous state and national championships in horseshoe pitching.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Carl Stowe of Dalton, Ga., and Gary Lee Stowe of Mobile; three stepsons, Toney Bryson, Lawrence Bryson and Lester Bryson, all of Centralia; four grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Charles Henery Yessick Jr.
ATLANTA - Charles Henry Yessick Jr., a resident of Atlanta, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999. He was 55.
Yessick grew up in Birmingham where he attended Woodlawn High School. He was a 1967 graduate of the University of Alabama. After graduating, Yessick moved to Atlanta where he was a businessman.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Miller Yessick of Atlanta; two daughters, Marylane Yessick and Emily Ann Yessick, both of Atlanta; his mother, Mary P. Yessick of Foley; a sister, Joyce Ann Nelson of Seminole, Fla.; and two brothers, Steven Glenn Yessick of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Duane Richard Yessick of Mobile.
A memorial service was held Sept. 7 at Sandy Springs Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Auger G. Baetje
Auger Gunhild "Hilda" Baetje, a native of Indiana Harbor, Ill., who resided in Mobile, died Saturday at a local nursing facility. She was 91.
She is survived by a son, Merle R. Baetje of Saraland; two daughters, Frances Baetje of Semmes and Anna Lillian White of Mobile; a sister, Rae Maness of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 until 8 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Harold G. Wilson
Harold G. Wilson, a retiree from GM&O Railroad and from Camel 66 Express, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 88.
A native of Mississippi, Wilson was a longtime resident of Mobile.
He is survived by his wife, Eddie Ruth Hyde Wilson of Mobile; a daughter, Ruth Wilson Albercht of Kingsport, Tenn.; a brother, Frank J. Wilson of Macon, Ga.; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 at Baldwin Funeral Home in Pontotoc, Miss. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pontotoc Memorial Park Cemetery.

Therrel D. Brown
SILAS — Therrel DeVane Brown, a Fort James retiree, died Sunday at his Silas residence. He was 65.
Brown was affectionately known as "T-Bo" to family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Boykin Brown of Silas; three daughters, Donna B. Cornett of Gilbertown, Teresa L. Brown of Meridian, Miss., and Beverly B. Skinner of Toxey; three brothers, Ronald Brown of Saraland, J.W. Brown of Columbus, Ohio, and Terry Brown of Saraland; three sisters, Delois McLain of Waynesboro, Miss., Jean James of Silas and Linda Gibson of Gilbertown; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, with services there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Isney Cemetery in Isney.
James H. Chester
James Harry Chester, a native of Decaturville, Tenn., who resided in Lisman, Ala., died Saturday at a hospital in Meridian, Miss. He was 84.
Chester is survived by his wife, Ruby Hall Chester of Lisman; a daughter, Carolyn Chester Harrell of Meridian, Miss.; a sister, Louise Fisher of Greenbrier, Tenn.; two grandsons; and a granddaughter.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler, with burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Butler.

Dorothy Turberville
Dorothy Taylor Turberville, who was retired from Vanity Fair Corp., died Friday at her Monroeville home. She was 77.
Mrs. Turberville, a native of Monroe County, was a member of Monroeville First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Turberville of McAllen, Texas, and James Turberville of Montgomery; two daughters, Nancy Humphries of Northport, Ala., and Ann Farish of Monroeville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Monroeville First United Methodist, with burial at Monroeville Methodist Cemetery.
