DELTONA - Catherine J. McArdle, 74, of Laredo Drive, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
A homemaker, Mrs. McArdle was born in Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1983 from Toledo, Ohio.
She was Catholic and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and horseback riding.
Mrs. McArdle is survived by her husband, John H.; four sons, Delmer and Brad Gresham, both of Toledo, John McArdle of Oceanside, N.Y., and Larry McArdle of Valley Stream; six daughters, Kathy Pacynski and Virginia Shuckwiler, both of Deltona, Patricia Gresham of Medford, Long Island, N.Y., Patricia O'Connell of Coram, N.Y., Kathy Mullen of Valley Stream and Alice Keefe of Lynbrook, Long Island, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

DELAND - Dorothy J. McNash, 90, of North Boston Avenue, died Jan. 13, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. McNash retired as a registered nurse. Born in Bourbon County, Ky., she moved to this area in 1969 from Cleveland.
She was Baptist.
Mrs. McNash is survived by a daughter, Nancy M. Green of Alpharetta, Ga.; three brothers, Virgil Johnson of DeLand and Gaines and Albert Lee Johnson, both of Cynthiana, Ky.; three sisters, Ruby Isgrig of Paris, Ky., Lillian LaFrana of Frankfort, Ky., and Thelma Goodin of Lexington, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

Fran Moore
DELAND - Fran Moore, 84, of Armstrong Avenue, died Jan. 12, 2000, at an area care center.
Mrs. Moore retired as a kindergarten teacher. Born in Mango, she moved to this area in 1994 from Plant City.
She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Plant City.
Mrs. Moore is survived by a stepdaughter, Frances Junge of Anchorage, Alaska, and a niece who provided for her care, Betty Naff of Altoona.

Lois Mauldin New
ORANGE CITY - Lois Mauldin New, 85, of Emerald Avenue, died Jan. 15, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. New retired as a seamstress for the State of North Carolina. Born in Lenoir, N.C., she moved to this area in 1980 from Kinston, N.C.
She was a member of The Sanctuary-DeLand Church of God. and the church's Prime Timers Club.
Mrs. New is survived by a son, Ronald Mauldin of Orange City, a daughter, Betty D. Thomas of Orange City, a sister, Clara Cullum of Orange City, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Helene B. Nickens
DELAND - Helene B. Nickens, 72, of Hontoon Road, died Jan. 13, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Nickens retired as an emergency-room head nurse in Kentucky. Born in Monterey, Tenn., she moved to this area from Kentucky in 1985.
She enjoyed cooking, travel and collecting books.
Mrs. Nickens is survived by her husband of 54 years, Fred L.; two daughters, Janet Curtis of DeLand and Virginia Smith of Middlesboro, Ky.; three brothers, Edward Barton of Miami, Charles Barton of Nashville, Tenn., and Ronald Barton of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister, Joan Carrington of Fort Lauderdale; and two grandchildren.

Naomi Pezzillo
DEBARY - Naomi Pezzillo, 85, of Barclay Court, died Jan. 15, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Pezzillo retired as a waitress. Born in Woodbury, N.J., she moved to DeBary in 1993 from Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
She was a member of New Beginnings Outreach Center in Deltona. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Mrs. Pezzillo is survived by a daughter, Joan Veneziale Baller of DeBary, a sister, Hazel D. Meade of Orlando, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MAITLAND - Beatrice Annette Pfeiffer, 74, a former resident of Tilburg Avenue in Deltona, died Jan. 14, 2000, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Community.
Mrs. Pfeiffer retired as office manager for Interlake Steel Co. in Riverdale, Ill. Born in Chicago, she moved to Deltona from Dolton, Ill., in 1985 and to Maitland from Deltona in 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Paul D. of Winter Springs and Edward of St. Louis, a brother, Howard Mayer of Aspen, Colo., and four grandchildren.

Karl J. Ripp
DELAND - Karl J. Ripp, 73, of Gaylord Drive, died Jan. 12, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Ripp was a building contractor in West Volusia since 1962. He moved to this area in 1958 from his hometown of Long Island, N.Y.
When not helping others, he enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
Mr. Ripp served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart in Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Faye; a son, Allen of Marco Island; two stepsons, Michael A. McMillon of North Dakota and Timothy McMillon of Orange City; five daughters, Susan, Nancy, Mary Ann, Dorrie and Kathy, all of Marco Island; two brothers, Frank and Jack Cola, both of DeLand; two sisters, Betty Fairburn of Rockledge and Katie Catapano of Spring, Texas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Monroe 'Tommy' Rogers
ENTERPRISE - Thomas Monroe "Tommy" Rogers, 39, of Lincoln Street, died Jan. 11, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Rogers was a laborer in the construction industry. Born in Smyrna, Tenn., he moved to this area in 1968 from La Vergne, Tenn.
He was Baptist.
Mr. Rogers is survived by two sisters, Doris Rogers of DeLand and Diane Rogers of Seville; and three brothers, Eddie Harrington of Killeen, Texas, Harvey Rogers of Daytona Beach and Russell Rogers of Deltona.

Julius A. Simon
DELTONA - Julius A. Simon, 82, of Norwood Drive, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mr. Simon retired as a building inspector for the City of New York. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to this area in 1979 from the Bronx, N.Y.
He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
Mr. Simon is survived by his wife of 25 years, Miriam, two sons and one sister.

Benjamin Hayes Stanton
DELAND - Benjamin Hayes Stanton, 86, of Dartmouth Road, died Jan. 13, 2000, at an area care center.
Mr. Stanton retired as the owner and operator of Slocum Fuel Co. in Long Branch, N.J. Born in Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J., he moved to this area in 1975 from Atlantic Highlands, N.J.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Avon-by-the-Sea and Elks Lodge 1463 in DeLand. He was a longtime member of the DeLand Country Club and a past president of Long Branch Rotary Club.
Mr. Stanton served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Harriett, and a sister, Irene Reid of Avon-by-the-Sea.

DELTONA - Melitta M. Strobl, 65, of East Fowler Drive, died Jan. 13, 2000, at her home.
A homemaker, Mrs. Strobl was born in Vollersode, Germany, and moved to this area in 1988 from Freeport, Ill.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of Providence in Deltona.
Mrs. Strobl is survived by two nieces who cared for her, Mildred Kanfer and Linda Meyn, both of Deltona.

DELAND - Josephine M. Weston, 87, of Edgewood Boulevard, died Jan. 11, 2000, at an area care center.
A homemaker, Mrs. Weston was born in Ossining, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1995 from Newton, Kan.
She is survived by a son, William Remsen of DeLand, five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

George LeRoy Wetmore
ORANGE CITY - George LeRoy Wetmore, 68, of Citrus Tree Drive, died Jan. 11, 2000, at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
Mr. Wetmore retired as a teacher for Bryan City Schools in his hometown of Bryan, Ohio, after 27 years. A summer resident of Bryan, he had been a winter resident of this area since 1988.
He was a life member of the Ohio Education Association, the National Education Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Williams County Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Williams County Genealogical Society. He grew orchids and made quilts.
Mr. Wetmore served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean L.; a son, Jeff L. of Bryan; a daughter, Janet Williams of Jacksonville; his mother, Altha Mast of Bryan; a brother, Gerald of Bryan; two sisters, Thelma Newcomb of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Audrey Bigger and her huband, Leonard, of Fremont, Ind.; and one grandchild.

Heath Wilbanks
DELAND - Heath Wilbanks, 83, of Hartford Drive, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mr. Wilbanks retired as a salesman for Birmingham Stove and Range. He moved to this area in 1959 from his hometown of Gadsden, Ala.
He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in DeLand, the French Huguenot Society in South Carolina, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of the War of 1812, and the Sons of the Confederacy.
Mr. Wilbanks is survived by his wife, Sarah, two daughters, Lila Sandstrom of Merritt Island and Virginia Chasey of Orange Park, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in DeBary.
Mrs. Zittermann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Frank; a brother, Thomas Corrigan of Ireland; and three sisters, Sarah Magennis of New York City, Gretta Morris of Ireland and Roseleen Thompson of Santa Barbara, Calif.
