Cecil Loyce Adams
ORLANDO - Cecil Loyce Adams, 78, a former resident of DeLand, died Sept. 30, 2000, at Beverly Health Center in Winter Garden.
Mr. Adams retired as branch manager for Chatham Steel Corp. in Orlando. Born in Graysville, Ga., he moved to DeLand from Savannah, Ga., in 1975, and to Orlando from DeLand in 1990.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Savannah and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a son, James of Stephens City, Va.; a daughter, Jan Elaine Taylor of Orlando; a brother, Joseph of Panama City; two sisters, Katrina Mastowy of Cocoa and Betty Jo Adams of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.

Jeanne Margaret Arciere
ORANGE CITY - Jeanne Margaret Arciere, 53, of Hamilton Avenue, died Sept. 29, 2000, at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial.
Mrs. Arciere was a hairdresser for Rachel's Hair Designs in DeBary. Born in Queens, N.Y., she moved to this area in 1990 from Long Island, N.Y.
She is survived by her father, John Carr of Margate; a son, William of East Rockaway, N.Y.; a daughter, Jodi Neckles of Inwood, N.Y.; three sisters, Joyce Caracciolo and Margaret Salute, both of Long Island, and Dorothy Gray of Georgia; and one grandson.

Joseph H. Davies
EQUINUNK, Pa. - Joseph H. Davies, 91, a former resident of Deltona, died Sept. 26, 2000, at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, Pa.
Mr. Davies retired as an executive for Exxon Corp. in Pelham, N.Y., after 35 years. Born in Wales, he moved to Deltona in 1967 from Bergenfield, N.Y. He lived in Deltona until his wife died a few years ago.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Community in DeLand and its Holy Name Society, and was one of the founders of the Deltona Art Club. He enjoyed oil painting, bowling, golf and fishing.
Mr. Davies is survived by three daughters, Patricia Kaszner of Equinunk, Frances Strang of Bergenfield and Eileen Holbert of Orlando, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Anthony Louis DelGatto
DEBARY - Anthony Louis DelGatto, 52, of DeBary Drive, died Sept. 24, 2000, at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
Mr. DelGatto was a mechanic for the City of Sanford. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he moved to this area in 1974 from the Bronx, N.Y.
He was Catholic and enjoyed working on and restoring cars.
Mr. DelGatto is survived by four daughters, Cindy McGinnis, Monica DelGatto and Heather DelGatto, all of Tamarac, and Lesa Marie DelGatto of Orange City; his father, Louis Sr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, James of Endicott, N.Y., and Louis Jr. of Palm Bay; a sister, Doreen Nichols of DeBary; and two grandchildren.

Samuel L. Eagle
DELAND - Samuel L. Eagle, 83, of West Armstrong Avenue, died Oct. 2, 2000, at the Alliance Center for Health Care.
Mr. Eagle retired as a molder and custodian in Orange County. Born in Stowe, Pa., he moved to this area in 1968 from Pottstown, Pa.
He was Lutheran and enjoyed bowling and motorcycles.
Mr. Eagle served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; a son, Ernest R. of Landrum, S.C.; two daughters, Emily Barthel of Orlando and Genevieve A. Barthel of New Smyrna Beach; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Zenaida Espinoza Hipolito
DELTONA - Zenaida Espinoza Hipolito, 69, of Windsor Heights Street, died Sept. 29, 2000, at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
Mrs. Hipolito retired as a teacher in the Philippines, her country of birth, after more than 40 years. She moved to this area from the Philippines in 1994.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona.
Mrs. Hipolito is survived by her husband, Ricardo C.; three sons, Ricardo C. Jr. and Noelito, both of Deltona, and Ariel of the Philippines; three daughters, Helen H. Abiera of DeBary, and Irma Cruz and Carmina Brigella, both of Deltona; and 11 grandchildren.

Walter Stewart Keable
DELAND - Walter Stewart Keable, 61, of Country Club Park Drive, died Sept. 27, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Keable worked in sales for Farmers Furniture in Orange City. He was the owner of Mr. K's Restaurant in DeLand 1978-84. Born in Iron Bridge, Ontario, Canada, he moved to this area from Canada in 1978.
He is survived by three sons, Duane of New York City, and Jason and Justin, both of DeLand; a daughter, Shelly Duguay of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Olive Armstrong of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and three grandchildren.

Aileen Longo
DELAND - Aileen Longo, 81, of Concord Road, died Sept. 28, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Longo retired as a clerical worker for a telephone company. Born in Wilmington, Del., she moved to this area in 1972 from Washington, D.C.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mrs. Longo is survived by a daughter, Sara L. Dryer of DeLand, and one grandchild.

Etta Scharlat
MARGATE - Etta Scharlat, 86, a former resident of Deltona, died Sept. 25, 2000, at University Hospital in Tamarac.
A homemaker, Mrs. Scharlat moved to Deltona from her hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1973. She lived in Deltona until 1996.
She was a member of Temple Shalom of Deltona. Her greatest interest was her family.
Mrs. Scharlat is survived by her husband of 15 years, George; two daughters, Marsha Allen of Worthington, Ohio, and Esther Morrow of New York City; a brother, Irving Cohen of Sunrise; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Victor Patrick Spina
DELAND - Victor Patrick Spina, 70, of West Euclid Avenue, died Sept. 29, 2000, at University Center West.
Mr. Spina moved to this area in 1975 from his hometown of Westport, Conn.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand.
Mr. Spina served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death in 1988 by a brother, Samuel. He is survived by a brother, Carmine of Clermont; three nieces, Susan Nette of St. Petersburg, Sharron Irons of New Smyrna Beach and Karen Rowe of DeLand; and three nephews, Joseph Spina of Deltona, Tony Spina of Waldorf, Md., and Jeff Spina of DeLand.

Mark D. Steo
DELAND - Mark D. Steo, 84, of Armstrong Avenue, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia.
Mr. Steo retired as a paper cutter for Licari Press in the Bronx, N.Y., after six years. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to this area from the Bronx in 1975.
He attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona and St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand.
Mr. Steo was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a medical corpsman.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Fay of Lake Worth; a brother, William of Brooklyn; a sister, Mary Autorino of Deltona; a niece who provided for his care, Elizabeth Butera of Longwood; and three grandchildren.

Marion Ardelle Stevens
DELAND - Marion Ardelle Stevens, 89, of Whitehurst Road, died Sept. 29, 2000, of cancer, at her home. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of DeLand, on a date to be announced. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester, N.H., on Oct. 19.
A homemaker, Mrs. Stevens was born in Bradford, Mass., and moved to DeLand in 1978 from Westport, Conn.
An avid golfer, she established the Marion Ardelle Stubbs-Stevens Endowed Women's Golf Scholarship at Stetson University in 1992. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of DeLand, where she was moderator of the Women's Circle, sang in the choir and was social chairwoman.
Mrs. Stevens was an artist, and she took courses at New York University and studied with Hal Walcott of Westport.
She was a member of the Woman's Club of DeLand, the Halifax Club in Daytona Beach, the DeLand Country Club and the Lake Beresford Yacht Club, where she was president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of several hereditary societies, including the Major Simon Willard Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, the National Society Magna Carta Dames, the Order of Washington and the Society of the Friends of St. George's and Descendants of the Knights of the Garter, Windsor Castle, England, where she was their guest in 1997 and 1998.
Mrs. Stevens was a supporter of Sands Theater Center and Shoestring Theatre and was involved in a number of charities for years.
She loved to give parties for her friends and family, and had a joyful, outgoing personality and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Heaney of DeLand; two nieces, Lyle Green (and her husband, George) of DeLand, and Jean Scribner (and her husband, Daniel) of Jacksonville; two nephews, Winthrop Stubbs (and his wife, Sandy) and John Stubbs, all of New Hampshire; and a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Frances Thomas
DELAND - Frances Thomas, 76, of North Woodland Boulevard, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Mariner Health of DeLand.
Mrs. Thomas was a registered nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando. She worked as a foster grandparent at Woodward Avenue Elementary School in DeLand and at the Duvall School. Born in Bainbridge, Ga., she moved to this area from Orlando in 1976.
She was a member of Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand. She was active in the choir and enjoyed cooking and caring for others.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by two sisters, Hilereth Richards of Tallahassee and Jackie Cathren of Louisville, Ky., and a granddaughter who was her caretaker, Ellen Thomas Cochrane of DeLand.

William Herman Wachter
HOLLY HILL - William Herman Wachter, 63, died Sept. 25, 2000, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Mr. Wachter retired as an aircraft mechanic. Born in Lakewood City, Ohio, he moved to this area in 1961 from Dunkirk, N.Y.
He was Catholic and was a member of American Legion Post 120 in Holly Hill. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, he enjoyed flying planes, boating and fishing.
Mr. Wachter served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He is survived by two sons, Eric of Alamogordo, N.M., and William of DeLand; two daughters, Robin Mileski of Guyton, Ga., and Diane Morris of Lake Helen; a brother, Ernest of Port Orange; a companion who provided for his care, Barbara Woodman; and six grandchildren.
