Wilma L. Green
MADERA, Calif. - Wilma L. Green, 91, Madera, Calif., formerly of Carthage, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Madera Community Hospital.
Mrs. Green was born in Polk County, Mo., to James Edward and Gertrude Clark Lyman. She grew up at Carthage, and married Cecil Williams. They made their home in California. He died in 1953.
In 1960, she married Milo Green. He died in 1960. She retired after 23 years as a file clerk for FMC Corporation at San Jose, Calif. She moved to Madera in 2002, to make her home with her son.
Survivors include a son, Steven Green, Madera, Calif.; a brother, Eugene Lyman, Carthage; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Henry.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Lallarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kan., under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, Kan.
Cletta May Hansen
Funeral services for Cletta May Hansen, 85, Carthage, who died June 13, 2003, were held June 16 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bob Teegarden officiated.
Cindy Huntley accompanied Katherine Snyder who sang "Whispering Hope" and "Where We'll Never Grow Old."
Pallbearers were Bob McDaniel, Blondie Butler, Dick Sunderland, Levi Snyder, Charles Potter, Gene Huff.
Burial was at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage.

Laurene M. Smith
HIGGINSVILLE, Mo. - Laurene M. Smith, 76, Higginsville, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Medical Center in Independence, Mo.
Mrs. Smith was born on Nov. 4, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Frank Smith and Ruby Snyder Smith. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
On June 15, 1944, she married Junior Paul Smith in Walnut Ridge Ark. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Bette Brown, Buckner, Mo., and Debbie Schaller, Carthage; two sons, Robert P. Smith, Corder, Mo., and Brent Smith, Higginsville, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, June 21 at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, Warrensburg. Burial was in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Junior Buster
E. Junior Buster, 72, Carthage ,went to be with the Lord at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.
Mr. Buster was born April 25, 1931, in Jasper County, Mo., to Charles E. and Mary L. Kahl Buster. He was a mechanic for Flex-o-lators and Big Smith, retiring in February 1992. He also raised cattle. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church and the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class, Carthage.
He was united in marriage to Martha Baker on Jan. 13, 1952, in Carthage. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Joe Buster, Carthage and Mike Buster, Columbia, Md.; a daughter, Marti Burkhart, Neosho; two sisters, Betty Alexander, Carthage, and June Ruland, Tulia, Texas; five grandchildren, Adam Buster, Sarah Buster, Kristi Goldman, Tana Burkhart and Alaina Burkhart.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at First Christian Church, Carthage. Burial will be in Fasken Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
Memorial contributions will be at the Cardinal Class Hospital Fund at First Christian Church, or Center Point Christian Church building fund.
E. Junior Buster
Services for Junior Buster, who died Sunday, June 22, 2003, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003, at the First Christian Church, Carthage. Minister Bob Lyttle and Minister Bob Teegarden officiated. Mary Ann Gremling was the pianist. Sarah Buster, Junior's granddaughter, sang "Shine Jesus Shine." The congregation sang "One Day at a Time," and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Joe Buster,Mike Buster, Roger Burkhart, Adam buster, Ron Baker, Phil Wilson, Glenn Cunningham, Kevin Smith, Elgan Snyder, Junior Snyder, Lloyd Kahl, Bill Kahl, Lloyd Thorn and Joe Weng.
Burial was held at Fasken Cemetery, located east of Carthage.
Arrangements were under the direction of Weng Funeral Home.
George Case
Services for George E. Case, who died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper. Minister Walter Wicklund officiated. Winona Knight was the organist. Case's grandchildren, nieces and nephews sang "Precious memories," "How Great Thou Art," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Christopher Frantz, Allen Case, Chad Case, Daniel Osborne, Joshua Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Jim Gresham, John Larson, Bill Knight, Gale Knight, Cy Knight and Bill Howell. Military rites were given by the Missouri Honors Program.
Burial was held in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Marilyn L. Barrow
Marilyn L. Barrow, 61, Princeton, Iowa, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Barrow was born May 20, 1942 at Belleview, Wash. to Charles and Hazel (Fugate) Kruse. She moved to Princeton, Iowa in January of 1998.
She was of the Christian faith, and was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. She married Gary Barrow July 3, 1981 at Golden City, Mo. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Billy Schnaufer of Lamar and Craig Schnaufer of Fort Stewart, Ga.; three daughters Kathy Whitemyer and Angela Barrow of Jasper, Mo. and Beverly Claypool of Lamar, Mo.; ten grandchildren, a brother, Roy Kruse of Lake City, Fla.; and two sisters, Aletha Brown of Yacima, Wash., and Dorothy Carter of Las Vegas, Nev.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003 at Nigh Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home.
Judy J. Sneed
Our loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, Judy J. Sneed, Carthage, Mo., went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 26, 2003. Judy was born on April 19, 1943 in Bremerton, Wash. to John and Grace Bays. Both preceded her in passing.
She married Richard L. Sneed on Nov. 16, 1963. They have four children and 11 grandchildren. She lived her life loving others and opening her home to friends and family.
She was an employee of McCune-Brooks Hospital for the past 25 years. She was also a member of BYKOTA Church. Judy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard Sneed, a daughter, Joni Shivley and husband, Brian, and three sons, Richard E. Sneed and wife, Andi, Bill Sneed and wife, Dawn Marie, and Jim Sneed and wife Nancy.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life, one of whom preceded her in death, Little Meagan. From oldest to youngest, they are Grace, Kayla, Alex, Anthem, Preston, Morgan, Joshua, Meagan, Hope, Avery, and Justin.
Judy is also survived by two brothers, John Bays and wife, Becky, of Carthage, Mo., and Jim Bays and wife, Tasha. Her nieces and nephews are John Anthony, Shannon, Kent, Kendra, Shawn, and Leslie. There are also many brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends that will miss her.
Visitation will be at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 29, at 4 p.m. at BYKOTA Church.
George E. Case
George E. Case, 82, Carthage, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at St. Luke's Nursing Home.
Mr. Case was born June 6, 1921 in Jasper County, Missouri, to George R. and Edith Mae (Frost) Case.
He lived in Jasper County his entire life, and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church of rural Carthage.
He married Dana Grieb on May 11, 1947 in Carthage. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, George A. Case of Carthage; a daughter Diann Frantz of Alexandria, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Weng Funeral Home in Jasper.
Visitation is set for 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Carthage.
Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Jasper.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Moriah Methodist Church.
Charlton L. Anderson
JASPER, Mo. - Charlton L. Anderson, 92, Jasper, died at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 19, 1910, in Neosho, Mo., to Albert Linley and Mamie J. Schader Anderson. He was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church, Jasper, where has served as a deacon since 1947.
He married Ruby Alice Conrod on Feb. 6, 1932, in Neosho. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, David Anderson, Riverview, Fla., a daughter, Catherine Leaming, Jasper; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery, east of Jasper.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

James R. Hatfield Sr.
JASPER, Mo. - James R. Hatfield Sr., 56, died at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home following a six-month illness.
Mr. Hatfield was born May 2, 1947, in Carthage to Raleigh Hatfield and Odell Coady Hatfield. He was a cooler attendant at Schreiber Cheese.
He married Joyce "Jody" Asbell on June 4, 1966, in Joplin. She survives.
Additional survivors include his mother, Odell Hatfield, Carthage; two sons, James Hatfield Jr. and wife, Gina, Jasper; Clayton Hatfield, Jasper; a daughter, Tracy Vance and husband, David, Jasper; a sister, Judy Kim, Carthage; three grandchildren, Alanea Brock, Jesse Vance and Mason Hatfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery, Jasper.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Services for James R. Hatfield Sr, 56, Jasper, who died on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27 at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage.
Rev. Bob Jones officiated, with song selections including "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, "Go Rest High on that Mountain," by Vince Gill, and "Amazing Grace," on the bagpipes.
Pallbearers included James Hatfield Jr., Clayton Smith Hatfield, David Vance, Larry Graham, Lonnie Knight, O.T. Brewer and Tracy Vance.
Burial was at Water's Cemetery in Jasper. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
Wayne Allen Peck
JOPLIN, Mo. - Wayne Allen Peck, 33, Joplin died Friday, July 4, 2003, due to a traffic accident.
Mr. Peck was born Dec. 13, 1969, in Joplin. He graduated in 1989 from Sarcoxie High School and attended Crowder College. He service in the U.S. Army for four years and was employed at FAG Bearings, Joplin. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Joplin.
He married Chun Six on Feb. 14, 2001. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Andrew Dean Peck, Joplin; three stepsons, Thomas Curtis, Jonathan Curtis and Stephen Curtis, Joplin; his mother and father, Robert and Carol Peck, Sarcoxie; a brother, Tyler Peck, Sarcoxie; a sister, Suzanne Jessip, Joplin and a grandfather, Kenneth Davies, San Diago, Calif.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 at First Baptist Church, Sarcoxie, The Rev. Quintin Davis and Dr. Phillip McClendon will officiate. Burial will be in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Jessip, Brandon Jessip, Tyler Peck, Tom Curtis, Paul Gish and Matt Jessip.

Glenn E. Roark
SARCOXIE - Glenn E. Roark, 88, Sarcoxie, died at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at his home in Sarcoxie.
Mr. Roark was born July 7, 1914, in LaRue County, Kentucky, to Turner and Alice (Howell) Roark.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the N.F.O. National Farmers Organization.
He married Frances Phelps on April 6, 1939 at Davenport, Iowa. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Lorine Fryer of Kansas City, Mo. and Hazel Whittaker of West Jersey, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Heisten, who died October 18, 2001; and two brothers, Richard Roark and Jacob Roark.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27 at Sarcoxie Cemetery.

WICHITA, Kan. - Wanda Bentley, 84, Wichita, Kan., a former Carthage resident, died on Sunday, June 29, 2003.
Mrs. Bentley was a retired expediter for Boeing.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Bentley, Wichita, Kan., a daughter, Jennifer Summers, Derby, Kan., two sisters, Darlene Napier of the state of Oklahoma and Betty Salisbury, El Dorado, Kan., and two grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Services are at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita.
