Evia J. King
Evia Johnson King, a Mobile resident and Escambia County native, died Saturday. She was 87.
King was a homemaker and she also worked with first Baptist Church Nursery Department.
She is survived by one son, Jesse Lassiter Jr. of Milton, Fla.; five daughters, Jewell Belisle of Milton, Fla., Eloise Tyree of McCullough, Jean Steele and Georgia Owens, both of Pensacola, and Hilda Booth of Mobile; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Level Cemetery.

Maggie M. Kirkland
Maggie M. Kirkland, a Montgomery native and longtime Mobile resident, died Friday at a Montgomery hospital. She was 71.
Kirkland was a member of Airport Boulevard Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Homer H. Kirkland; one son, Jimmy Butler; one brother, Roy J. Mills; one sister, Katie Mae Williams; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.

Emma F. Kurtz
Emma F. Pysher Holmes Kurtz, a Stroudsburg, Pa., native and longtime Mobile resident, died Friday. She was 95.
She is survived by one son, Robert T. Holmes of Temple Hills, Md.; one daughter, Lois H. Stokes of Mobile; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Monday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be at 9 a.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity or the American Heart Association.

George L. Little
George Lamont Little, an employee of Mobile Rosin Oil, died unexpectedly Monday at a local hospital. He was 24.
A Mobile native, Little was a Prichard resident and had attended Mobile County public schools.
Survivors include his daughter, Breanna Harris; a stepson, Tychious Everett; his parents, Ira and Joe Little Sr.; four sisters, Doris Kennedy, Keyshe Clay of Talladega, Ala., Ira Campbell and Diges Little; and three brothers, Joe Little, Archie Little and Terrance Little.
Services are set for noon Monday at First Church of God in Christ, 1308 St. Stephens Road, with viewing from 10 a.m. until services. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BALDWIN COUNTY

Lorene S. E. Holder
FAIRHOPE - Lorene Sealy Eudy Holder, a Fairhope resident, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at a Daphne hospital. She was 93.
Mrs. Holder was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairhope.
She is survived by one son, Charles W. Eudy of Mobile; one daughter, Ethelyn Barrow of Fairhope; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Wolfe Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fairhope, 300 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL, 36532, or Mercy Medical, P.O. Box 1090, Daphne, AL, 36526.

Peggy Sue H. Jacobs
MAGNOLIA SPRINGS - Peggy Sue Houser Jacobs, a native of Anniston and resident of Doraville, Ga. and Magnolia Springs, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Doraville, Ga. She was 58.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Ray Jacobs of Doraville, Ga. and Magnolia Springs; one son, Michael Jacobs of Trenton, N.J.; one daughter, Suzanne Kent of Tampa, Fla.; her mother, Sue Houser of Magnolia Springs; four brothers, Charles Houser and John Houser of Magnolia Springs, Morty Houser of Foley and David Houser of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley. The family will receive friend immediately following the funeral service at the home of Charles Houser in Magnolia Springs.
Memorial may be made to The Leukemia Society of America, Georgia Chapter, 2625 Cumberland Parkway, Suite 205, Atlanta, GA 30339.

Doris E. Connors
FAIRHOPE - Doris Elizabeth Taylor Connors, a native of Womack Hill in Choctaw County and a resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 63 years old.
She is survived by her husband, James J. Connors of Fairhope; her mother, Remer Johnson Taylor of Womack Hill; two sons, James J. Connors Jr. of Fairhope and John W. Connors of Orange Beach; two sisters, Ann Taylor Lindsey of Mobile and May Jewel Taylor Moore of Womack Hill; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 tonight with the rosary at 7 p.m. at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope. The Rev. Gordon Milstead will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Memory Gardens in Fairhope.

Warren T. Jirik
LILLIAN - Warren Thomas Jirik of Lillian died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at his residence. He was 78.
Jirik was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Winnifred Jirik of Lillian; three sons, David Thomas Jirik of Santa Ana, Calif., Allen Richard Jirik of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Andrew William Jirik of Lakewood, Calif.; a brother, Eugene Jirik of Conch Key, Fla.; a sister, Viola Plascjak of Costa Rica; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley with the Rev. Gene A. May officiating.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to Mercy Medical Hospice or the Lillian Community Library.

Merle Shows
FOLEY - Merle Shows, a native of Foley and a resident of Midland, Texas, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at a nursing home in Midland, Texas. He was 86 years old.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Jean Shows of Midland, Texas; three daughters, Morna Strengholt of Key West, Fla., Elaine Holt of Bedford, Texas, and LaRue Dawson of Paradise, Texas; his stepdaughter, Charlotte Seay of Midland, Texas; three stepsons, Ron Craig of Louisville, Texas, Coy Craig of Rockwall, Texas, and Ted Craig of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, both of San Antonio; three granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Midland, with the Revs. Molly Krueger and Bob Hopkins officiating.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 3389, Midland, TX 79702.

CLARKE COUNTY

Hannis G. Prim
JACKSON - Hannis Gray Prim, a Salitpa native, died Saturday at a health care facility in Jackson. He was 89.
Prim, a longtime resident of Grove Hill and Jackson, was a graduate of Auburn University, where he played football. He was a teacher and coach at Clarke County High School for many years and retired as principal of the school. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn King of Salem, Va., and Nancy Wasdin of Mobile; one brother, Harry Prim of Dothan; one sister, Elizabeth Johns of Wetumpka; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Grove Hill. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
Arrangements were handled by Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill.

MONROE COUNTY

Anita Walters
MEXIA - Anita Helen Rawls Walters, a Collins, Miss., native and Mexia resident, died Friday at a Mobile hospital. She was 77.
Mrs. Walters was a retired operator at Vanity Fair Mills and a member of Mexia Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Willard Walters of Mexia; two sons, Clarence Gibson Jr. of Perdue Hill, Ala., and Michael Gibson of Mobile; three daughters, Carol Prouty of Monroeville, Charlotte Hall of Atmore and Sandra Kavulla of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Edward Rawls of Mexia; two sisters, Evelyn Love and Sarah Coxwell, both of Panama City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with burial in McConnico Cemetery.

OTHER

Daisy G. Phillips
TAMPA, Fla. - Daisy Gillis Phillips, a self-employed church organist, died Thursday at a health care facility in Tampa, Fla. She was 100.
Phillips, a Grove Hill native and a Tampa resident, was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by three daughters; Patricia Phillips of Tampa, May Phillips Seth of Evanston, Ill., and Jean Phillips Maclin of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Lathan Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Malena Rudd Bryant
Malena Rudd Bryant, a Kinston native and Theodore resident, died Saturday at local hospital. She was 86.
She was a cake decorator in a bakery for 43 years. She also was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Lilli R. Waltman of Theodore and other relatives.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church at Tillman's Corner. Services will begin at noon at the church. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Peters Martin
Gertrude Peters Martin, a Whistler native and Chickasaw resident, died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 61.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Martin of Chickasaw; two daughters, Paula White and Deborah Oaks, both of Saraland; a brother, Paul Peters of Whistler; and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Lyle Eugene Reisner
Lyle Eugene Reisner , a Hammond, Ill., native and resident of Coden, died Thursday at his home. He was 72.
Reisner owned Bayou Electronics in Bayou La Batre. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force; having served in Europe, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He also was a member of the board of directors of Mostellar Medical Center and served as chairman for the last several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Heron Bay.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Juanita Kennerson Reisner; five sons, Lyle M. Reisner of Irvington, James E. Reisner, Richard D. Reisner and R. Royce Reisner, all of Mobile, and Gary M. Reisner of Heron Bay; a daughter, Edwina K. Reisner Bates of Coden; a brother, David Reisner of Atwood, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oddfellow Cemetery.

Waudine French Smith
Waudine French Smith, a Carthage, Miss., native and Mobile resident, died Sunday at a local hospital. A retired nurse, she was 75.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Smith of Eight Mile; a son, Larry Kinlough of St. Louis; a daughter, Charlotte Duncan of Mobile; four brothers, Neal Grogan and Gordon Grogan of Jackson, Miss., and Bob Grogan and Wallace Grogan of Mobile; and a sister, Jean Huddleston of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

BALDWIN COUNTY

John C. Guy
John C. Guy, a native of Wayne County, Miss., and a resident of Baldwin County, died Saturday at a Mobile hospital. He was 82.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Dudley Guy; seven sons, Dudley Guy, John D. Guy, Gene Guy, Don Guy, Henry Guy, Dean Guy and Tommy Guy; six daughters, Elizabeth King, Barbara Giddens, Sharon Guy, Shelia Guy, Ann Campbell, and Debra Norris; a brother, Roscoe Guy; two sisters, Ruth Vice, and Ruby McDonald; 29 grandchildren; and 11great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church in Mobile with visitation immediately following the service. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials made be made to Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

CHOCTAW COUNTY

Arthur T. Hodges
PENNINGTON - Arthur T. "Buddy" Hodges, a Pennington resident, died Saturday at his residence. He was 71.
He was a retired commercial fisherman and a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a half-sister, Cloma Wheeler of Hartford, Conn.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler is in charge of arrangements.

CLARKE COUNTY

Devon Bryant
WALKER SPRINGS - Devon Bryant died Saturday at a Jackson hospital. He was an infant.
He is survived by his parents, Greg and Carla Brown of Walker Springs; a brother, Greg Brown, and a sister, Jasmine Bryant, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his grandmothers, Elnora Brown of Sunflower and Bessie Bryant of Walker Springs.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Brown Family Cemetery in Sunflower in Washington County.
Jackson Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Deborah Ann Nichols
JACKSON - Deborah Ann Nichols, a native of Georgia and a resident of Jackson, died Saturday at her home. She was 43.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, David Nichols; a son, Jason Nichols; a daughter, Chelsey Nichols, all of Jackson; her parents, James and Elvera Robinson of Elberta; a brother, James O. Robinson of Texarkana, Ark.; and a sister, Nancy R. Fowler of Texarkana, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
