MOBILE COUNTY

Margaret Bonner
Margaret "Red" Bonner, a former certified nursing assistant at Autumn Breeze Nursing Home, died Tuesday at her home. She was 66.
Ms. Bonner, a Washington County native, was a Prichard resident and a member of Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include eight children, Horace Bonner Sr., Algernon Bonner and Gregory Bonner, all of Detroit, Brenda Jenkins of Houston, Elisa Smith of Eight Mile, Gary Bonner and Valarie Bonner, both of Prichard, and Anthony Bonner of Mobile; three sisters, Sandra Henderson of Prichard, and Jacqueline Bonner and Barbara Baise, both of Pomona, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 10 a.m. Saturday at Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church, 316 Max St. in Prichard, with visitation from noon until the 1 p.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane North Cemetery.

Henrietta Falls
Henrietta Falls, a former longtime employee of the John A. Roberts family, died Friday in a local nursing facility. She was 80.
The Mobile resident was a member of Greater Nazaree Baptist Church.
She is survived by her niece.
Services took place Wednesday at Greater Nazaree Baptist Church. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, with Memorial Funeral Home of Prichard in charge.

Steve T. Loyd
Steve Thomas Loyd, a carpenter in the home remodeling business, died of natural causes Tuesday at his home. He was 45.
Loyd was a lifelong Mobile County resident.
Survivors include his mother, Ora Loyd of Grand Bay; three brothers, Larry Loyd and Donald Loyd, both of Grand Bay, and Aubrey E. Lloyd of Prattville, Ala.; and a sister, Yvonne Miles of Grand Bay.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home, with visitation from noon until services. Burial will be in Grand Bay Cemetery.

Bessie Y. Taylor
Bessie Young Taylor, a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 87.
Mrs. Taylor, affectionately known as "Ma Bessie" to family and friends, was a Camden, Ala., native and a Mobile resident.
Survivors include a daughter, Francine Burks, and a brother, Harry Young, both of Mobile; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 609 S. Warren St., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Johnson-Allen Mortuary.

BALDWIN COUNTY

Inez T. McElroy
GULF SHORES — Inez T. McElroy, a homemaker and longtime Gulf Shores resident, died Wednesday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Mrs. McElroy was a native of Tuscaloosa.
Survivors include her husband, A.P. McElroy Sr. of Gulf Shores; three sons, Allen P. McElroy Jr. of Orange Beach, George A. McElroy of Cullman, Ala., and John P. McElroy of Arcadia, Fla.; a daughter, Martha Phillips of Gulf Shores; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. today at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes, followed by graveside services in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

CLARKE COUNTY

Clyde B. Clanton
THOMASVILLE — Clyde Burl Clanton, a former instrument technician for Kaiser Aluminum, died Wednesday in Thomasville. He was 88.
Clanton, a Coffeeville, Ala., native, was a Thomasville resident.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy R. Clanton of Kingwood, Texas, and Clyde Gordon Clanton of Jackson, La.; four brothers, Glover "Dub" Clanton of Saraland, and George W. Clanton and Bobbie G. Clanton, both of Coffeeville, and Darwin Clanton of Leroy, Ala.; a sister, Kathleen C. Dunagan of Coffeeville; and three grandchildren.
Services are set for 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Coffeeville, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Ulcanush Baptist Cemetery in Coffeeville.
Arrangements are by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.
Memorials may be made to a favorite church or charity.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

Coy L. Cain
APPLETON — Coy Lee Cain, a retiree of the Box Division of T.R. Miller Mill Co., died Tuesday at an area hospital. He was 73.
Cain, a Lenox, Ala., native, was a resident of the Appleton community near Brewton since 1958. He was a charter member of the Appleton Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
An accomplished musician and singer, he enjoyed bluegrass gospel music.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Esther Davidson Cain of Appleton; a daughter, Sharmon Johnson of Natalia, Texas; a son, Wayne Cain of Robertsdale; two brothers, L.V. Cain of Castleberry, Ala., and Roy Cain of Appleton; six sisters, Linnie Mae Pettis of Appleton, Pearl Hale of Brewton, Daisy Black of Repton, Ala., Mearlene Powell of East Brewton, Ala., Ruthie Moye of Monroeville, Ala., and Dot Blair of Lenox; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Appleton Free Will Baptist Church, with burial in Cooper Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Radney Funeral Home in Mobile and Eastern Gate Funeral Home in Pensacola.

MARENGO COUNTY

Annie Hale
MAGNOLIA — Annie Grey Slade Hale, proprietor of the Magnolia Hotel, died Monday in Magnolia. She was 87.
Mrs. Hale was a Magnolia native and resident and a life member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.
She spearheaded efforts through then-Attorney General Don Siegelman to keep the Magnolia Post Office open, and the office was eventually reopened by a presidential proclamation, according to relatives.
Other memberships included the Magnolia Civic Club and the board of trustees of The Essentially His Foundation.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Hale of Magnolia; a daughter, Jacqueline Grey Pierson of Orange, Calif.; and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at The Magnolias in Magnolia. Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Magnolia United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia. Arrangements are by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, Ala.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Essentially His Foundation in care of Regions Bank or First United Security Bank of Thomasville.

Leslie J. Cieutat
PENSACOLA BEACH — Leslie Joseph Cieutat, a longtime resident of Pensacola Beach, died Monday at a hospital in Gulf Breeze, Fla. He was 63.
Cieutat founded a social club dedicated to the preservation of the Sandspur Republic, a local benevolent association. He was also a member of Pensacola Beach No. 2256 Elks Lodge and the Pensacola Beach Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Cieutat of Pensacola Beach; a stepdaughter, Sara Hosey of Pensacola Beach; a daughter, Michele Young of Mobile; a son, David Cieutat of Gulf Breeze; two brothers, Mike Cieutat and Pat Cieutat, both of Mobile; three sisters, Charlotte Patrick of Thomaston, Ga., and Mary Jo Duff and Theresa Vaughn, both of Mobile; and one grandson.
A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. today at Pensacola Beach United Church of Christ. A private burial is planned aboard the Lively One II. Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Pensacola Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

Josephine Edith Coleman
POINT CLEAR — Josephine Edith Coleman, a native of Mobile and a resident of Point Clear, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at a local health-care facility.
Mrs. Coleman, 64, was a member of the Church of Christ in Fairhope.
She is survived by her son, Veryl Coleman of Fairhope; two daughters, Yolanda Asberry of Daphne and Constance Stallworth of Mobile; her mother, Emily Allen Jones of Point Clear; two sisters, Grace Quaites of Point Clear and Mary Jetson of Fairhope; one brother, Joseph Robert Jones of Fairhope; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Fairhope. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Allen officiating.
Burial will take place in Twin Beech Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Hodges Funeral Chapel in Mobile.

MOBILE COUNTY

Keith L. Howard
Keith Lawayne Howard, a Mobile native and resident, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 39.
Howard was a 1978 graduate of Williamson High School.
He is survived by his parents, Andrew J. and Sara Howard of Mobile; three sisters, Cynthia Curry and Annissa Gamble, both of Mobile, and Lisa Howard of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, the Rev. Gregory Howard of Mobile and Michael Howard of Arlington, Texas; and his grandfather, Dock Rand of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church. Services will begin at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Reese Funeral Home.

Judith A. Parsley
CODEN - Judith Ann Parsley, a Coden resident and Florida native, died Friday in a local hospital. She was 60.
Mrs. Parsley was a member of St. Elmo Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Parsley of Coden; two daughters, Susan K. Morrison of Lincoln, Neb., and Phillis L. Simmons of Ankeny, Iowa; one sister, Nancy Rigler of Pasadena, Calif.; one niece; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elmo Seventh Day Adventist Church, followed by services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Bayou La Batre.
Arrangements are by Gilmer's Funeral Home of Mobile.

Milton L. Rhodey Jr.
Milton Lee Rhodey Jr., an employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding for 26 years, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 58.
Rhodey was a lifelong Mobilian. He was a graduate of Southern Mississippi College and a member of a local mystic society.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Sue Rhodey of Mobile; four daughters, Tonya Nelson of Grand Bay, Teresa Watson of Citronelle, Wanda Sweatt of Theodore and Evette Rhodey of Gautier, Miss.; two brothers, Alan Rhodey of Pensacola and Joel Rhodey of Cummings, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where services are set for 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Linda D. Weaver
CITRONELLE - Linda Diain Weaver, a native of Washington County and a resident of Citronelle, died Friday at a Citronelle health care facility. She was 50.
She was a member of Happy Gospel Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Larry Weaver and Horace Weaver III, both of McIntosh; two sisters, Lillie Irene Rivers and Susie Simmons, both of Mount Vernon; and her grandmother, Gertrude Davis of McIntosh.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Freeman Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Happy Gospel Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Reed's Chapel Cemetery in McIntosh.

BALDWIN COUNTY

R.N. Campbell
DAPHNE - R.N. Campbell, a Jackson, Miss., native and Daphne resident, died Friday at his residence. He was 79.
Campbell served with the Corps of Engineers briefly as a civil engineer and then with the U.S. Air Force. He was discharged with the rank of captain. After completing flight training, he served as a fighter test pilot at the Air Force Proving Ground Command at Eglin Field in Florida.
He formed the consulting engineering partnership, Ewin & Campbell, with offices in Mobile and New Orleans. He later became a full-time consultant for Sea Land Service Inc. in New York. He was also an assistant manager of First Colony Farms Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jeffrey Campbell of Daphne; three sons, Robert N. Campbell III, Stuart Campbell and Jonathan Campbell; one daughter, Genebruce Campbell Arnold; two sisters, Dot Ann Rayford and Catharine Thurber; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church. Memorials may be made to Save the Children Foundation, 54 Wilton Road, P.O. Box 940, Westport, CT 06881.
Arrangements are by Wolfe Funeral Home in Daphne.

CHOCTAW COUNTY

Vergie W. Nordan
NEEDHAM - Vergie Whittington Nordan, a Needham native and resident, died Saturday at her home. She was 87.
She is survived by a son, George Nordan of Butler; two daughters, Mary Turner of Needham and Sylvia Clark of Pine Hill; a brother, Johnnie Whittington of Eugene, Ore.; and a sister, Julia Manley of Needham; and two stepsisters, Oenone Hearn of Butler and Marcell Carney of Muscle Shoals.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brightwater Methodist Church. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery in Needham. Arrangements are by Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler.

CLARKE COUNTY

Jack L. Dozier
THOMASVILLE - Dr. Jack Lanier Dozier, a retired physician who had served as chief of staff at two area hospitals, died Thursday. He was 80.
Dozier, a Chance native and Thomasville resident, was a member of Cane Creek United Methodist Church. He was an assistant surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He served as chief of staff at Thomasville Hospital and Grove Hill Memorial Hospital, and also had an office in Fulton.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Dozier of Thomasville; one son, Jack Wesley Dozier of Thomasville; one brother, Ed Vaiden Dozier of Thomasville; and two sisters, Daisy Lucy Warren of Nashville, Tenn., and Ida Bee Lowry of Montgomery.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Charles D. Cassady
LEROY - Charles Dennis Cassady, a butcher for Wal-Mart Supercenter in Jackson, died Thursday in his home. He was 42.
Cassady, a Colorodo native and Leroy resident, was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
He is survived by his son, Calvin Cassady of Leroy; one stepdaughter, Paige Hughes of Jackson; his father, C.R. Cassady of Coffeeville; his mother, Elizabeth Etheredge of Leroy; his stepfather, Ray Etheredge of Leroy; one brother, Richard Cassady of Milner, Ga., and one sister, Pat Etheredge of Leroy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at at Lathan Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Leroy Baptist Cemetery.

Mamie G. Flynt
ABBEVILLE - Mamie Gibson Flynt, a Choctaw County native and Abbeville resident, died Saturday at her home. She was 80.
She was a former resident of Mobile and Chatom, and was a member of New Testament Holiness Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Virginia Evans of Brewton, Annette Carpenter and Sharron Wiggins of Abbeville, Emma Beech of Mobile and Janet Zam of Moline, Ill.; five brothers, Rufus Gibson, Abraham Gibson, Martin Gibson and Donald Gibson of Robertsdale and Thomas Gibson of Watson, Mo.; three sisters, Minnie Kilpatrick of Robertsdale, Winnie Tew and Alice Singleton of Chatom; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Springhill Cemetery in Chatom.
