William W. Hobbs
ROBERTSDALE — William W. Hobbs, a Robertsdale native and Montgomery resident, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in a Montgomery hospital. He was 87.
He is survived by three sons, C. E. Hobbs of Liberty, Texas, Bobby Hobbs of Houston, Texas, and Arthur Bitts of Dayton, Texas.; three daughters, Edith Hobbs of Dayton, Texas, and Linda Clark and Kathy Hobbs both of Houston.
Hobbs was a World War II and Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mack Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Loxley.
Mary Virginia McKinley
PERDIDO — Mary Virginia McKinley, a Franklin native and a Perdido resident, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 94.
She is survived by nieces and nephews and a number of other family members.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Perdido Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
Robert Edward Davis
ORANGE BEACH — Robert Edward Davis, a Mobile native and a Orange Beach resident, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in a Pensacola hospital. He was 67.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Davis of Orange Beach; two sons, the Rev. Randall Davis of Morris Town, Tenn. and the Rev. Robbie Davis of Arkansas; daughter, Risa Perry of Fairhope; brother, Arthur "Snookie" Davis of Gulf Shores; sister, Lucille Bond of Flomaton; and five grandchildren.
Davis was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a fireman for the city of Mobile. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Orange Beach.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bayview Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rock Cemetery in Flomaton.
Flora Mae White Johnson
FOLEY — Flora Mae White Johnson, a Foley resident, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 80.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Havel of Foley; two sisters, Dorothy James and Betty Logan of Elmore County, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Private graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant View Baptist Cemetery in Foley.

Louise B. Calhoun
Louise Berry Calhoun, a member of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church, died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Calhoun, a native of Delhi, La., was a resident of Mobile.
Survivors include two children, Walter J. Calhoun Jr., and Victor L. Calhoun, both of Mobile; a sister, Viola Slack of Delhi; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be after 9 a.m. Thursday at Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church, 961 Lyons St., until 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery.
Artemise Norwood
Artemise Catherine Norwood, a nurse's aide at Providence Hospital for 26 years, died Monday at a local hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Norwood, a native of Hattiesburg, Miss., was a longtime Mobile resident. She was a member of the Grand Lodge of Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.
Survivors include three children, Patrick Francis Norwood, Michael Willard Norwood and Artemise Ann Savage, all of Mobile; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home today from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. services.
Memorials may be made to the Allen Memorial Home.

Marshall W. Wright
JACKSON — Dr. Marshall W. Wright, who had been self-employed as a doctor of optometry, died Monday at a hospital in Mobile. He was 88.
Wright, a native of Dade City, Fla., was a resident of Jackson.
He was a past president of the Florida state Board of Optometry and a member of the Florida Optometric Association.
Wright was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, where he served on the board of deacons and was a teacher for the men's Sunday school class for more than 60 years. He had also been a lay minister at Jackson Nursing Home for the past 10 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia W. Hoven; and a son, Marshall William Wright Jr., both of Jackson; a sister, Ruth Bowers of Sebring, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, where services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.

Eva L. McIntyre
McINTOSH — Eva Lee McIntyre, a homemaker, died Sunday at her home. She was 90.
Mrs. McIntyre, a native of Jackson, Ala., was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Greer and Evelyn Nader; a son, William Ronald McIntyre, all of McIntosh; two brothers, Billy Robinson of Saraland, Delors Robinson of Chickasaw and C.B. Robinson of Georgetown, S.C.; a sister, Kathleen Miller of Middlefield, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, where services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the McIntyre Family Cemetery in McIntosh.

Mary L. Baldwin
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Mary Lockett Baldwin, a retiree and a former Mobile resident, died Thursday in Columbia. She was 56.
Ms. Baldwin was a native of Marengo County, Ala., and a resident of Columbia.
She was a member of Aimwell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Carrie M. Kidd of Mobile; her father, James Lockett of Detroit; three daughters, Sensan Lockett Smiley and Kimberly Baldwin Brooks of Columbia, and Michi Grayson of Mobile; a sister, Neita Kidd of Mobile; a stepsister, Anita Burnette; and a brother, Alphonse Kidd, both of Chicago; two stepbrothers, Charles James Duncan of St. Stephens, Ala., and Robert Kidd Jr. of Chicago; and six grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be held after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Aimwell Baptist Church, 500 Earl St., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
Sarah Porter Tait
BRANDON, Miss. — Sarah Porter Tait, a native of Mobile and a resident of Brandon for the past 15 years, died Saturday at a health-care facility in Vicksburg, Miss. She was 82.
Mrs. Tait worked at the International Paper Co. bag mill for 35 years. She was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a past worthy matron of Eastern Star Chapter No. 420.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Pinkerton of Brandon; and three grandchildren.
At Mrs. Tait's request, her body was donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for research.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Carolyn Ann Earley
FAIRHOPE — Carolyn Ann Earley of Fairhope, a native of Washington, D.C., died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999. She was 65.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Earley; two sons, Gary Wendell Earley and Terence Patrick Earley, both of Fairhope; one daughter, Anita Louise Garza of Theodore and two grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, with Dr. Mort McMillan officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 tonight at Fairhope Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements.
Galvin Christopher Seale
FAIRHOPE — Galvin Christopher Seale of Fairhope died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999. Seale, 31, was a native of Pensacola and served eight years in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Englehart Seale of Fairhope; two sons, Christopher Lee Seale of Bessemer and Matthew Seal of Fairhope; a daughter, Amanda Englehart of Fairhope; his mother and stepfather, Ann and Raymond Beaty of Fairhope; his father, Otha Seale of Silverhill; a stepson, Christopher Englehart of Rosinton; a sister, Rebecca Beaty of Fairhope; grandfather, B.J. Leonard of Marlow; and grandmother, Lois Leonard of Fairhope.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope, which is handling the arrangements.
John Anthony Lucia
GULF SHORES — John Anthony Lucia of Gulf Shores, a native of Louisiana, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at his home. He was 42.
Lucia was an avid fisherman and worked for American General Life Insurance Co. for many years, receiving honors and awards. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 666 and held various local and state offices.
He was awarded Knight of the Year and his family was awarded Family of the Year in Alabama.
A longtime member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church , Lucia was a youth director who conducted an annual Halloween Party and Haunted House and Christmas Party for St. Mary's Home.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Beverly Ann Lucia of Gulf Shores; three daughters, Deanna Marie Lucia, Annice Marie Lucia and Amanda Lee Lucia; a son, Jonathon Carey Lucia; his mother, Merry Lou Lucia; three sisters, Cecilia Archer, Rosanne Olmstead and Barbara McDonough; two brothers, Joseph Anthony Lucia and Dr. Michael A. Lucia; and a grandson.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 tonight at Baldwin Funeral Home in Gulf Shores. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in the chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Mobile. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow funeral services at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the John Lucia Benefit Account at any Regions Bank.

Bernard Breland McClusky
GULF SHORES — Bernard Breland McClusky, a native of Birmingham and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1999. He was 41.
McClusky was a maintenance supervisor for Brett-Robinson and a volunteer fireman with the Gulf Shores Fire Department. He served as an instructor at Bessemer State Technical College in appliance repair.
He was the owner of McClusky Appliance Repair for a number of years in Gulf Shores, and he and his family worshipped at the First Presbyterian Church in Foley.
Survivors include his wife, Ann McClusky of Gulf Shores; a daughter, Grace Leigh McClusky of Gulf Shores; and a sister, Elizabeth Howell of Ashville.
Visitation will be held from noon until 8 p.m. today at Baldwin Funeral Home in Gulf Shores. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
Following burial, a witness to the resurrection service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Foley, with the Rev. Samford Turner officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Funeral Home.
William P. Whitman
FAIRHOPE — William P. Whitman, a native of Brockton, Mass., and a resident of Enterprise, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999. He was 84.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Abernethy Whitman of Enterprise; four daughters, Carol W. Saltz of Fairhope, Laura Kelly of Montgomery, Mary Louise Harry of Ozark and Patience Susan Logan of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SILVERHILL — Louise M. Raines, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a resident of Silverhill, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999. He was 87.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Raines Sr. of Silverhill; one daughter, Winnie M. Jones of Silverhill; three sons, Joseph Raines Jr. of Foley, William L. Raines of Sonora, Calif., and Garrett H. Raines of Portola Valley, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mack Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Barnhart officiating.

SUMMERDALE — Ruth E. Gooch of Summerdale died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999.
The native of Peterborough, N.H., was 77.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol A. Phelps of Summerdale; two sisters, Frances Hubbard of South Paris, Maine, and Eva Barney of Clinton, Mass.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. today at the Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale. Funeral arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
Eva Luella Stuart
STOCKTON — Eva Luella Stuart, 79, of Stockton, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at USA Medical Center in Mobile.
The Frankfort, Ky., native had worked as a secretary at the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega.
She is survived by her son, Charles Stuart of Talladega; a daughter, Luann Rutledge of Stockton; a sister, Ann Davenport of Tuscaloosa and three grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.
Lyle Donald Burrus
MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — A memorial service will be held Friday for Lyle Donald Burrus of Magnolia Springs.
The 74-year-old native of Buchanan, Mich., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy L. Burrus of Magnolia Springs; two daughters, Paulette Hays of Ohio and Marilyn Russell of Magnolia Springs; one son, David Burrus of Elberta; one sister, Donavie Whitaker of Fairhope; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Magnolia Springs, with the Rev. John Phillips officiating.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the home of Cathy L. Burrus, 12076 Pecan Grove St., Magnolia Springs.
