BAY MINETTE - Louise Hadley Mosley, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at her home in the Pine Grove community near Bay Minette. Mrs. Mosley was a seamstress at Mannor Slacks. Survivors include her husband, James E. "Jim" Mosley of Pine Grove; a brother, Elzie Hadley of Rabun; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. The Revs. C.J. Hogan and Chester Clark will officiate and burial follows at Bay Minette Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Norris Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.

Lottice C. Woods
DAPHNE - Lottice Carroll Woods, a lifelong resident of Daphne, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, after a brief illness. She was 82. Mrs. Woods was a member of Mount Aid Missionary Baptist Church of Daphne. Survivors include a son, Warrick Broxton of Banning, Calif.; five sisters, Priscilla C. Perrilliat, Elizabeth Carroll, Letteese C. Beck and Lillian C. Anderson, all of Spanish Fort, and Helen C. Kyles of Cantonment, Fla.; a brother, Jonathan Carroll of Spanish Fort; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Aid Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. George C. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Christian Benevolent Funeral Home of Mobile.

Helen Edna Batchelor
FAIRHOPE - Helen Edna Batchelor, a native of Kinston, N.C., and a resident of Fairhope, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at a local health-care facility. She was 77. Ms. Batchelor was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. She taught at various schools throughout her life including Kansas State University. She also was the assistant to the chancellor at the University of Wisconsin, the affirmative action officer at Humbolt State University in Arcata, Calif., and an English professor at Patterson State University in New Jersey. She is survived by her daughter, Nina Rikoski of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Arlene Williams of Boise, Idaho; three brothers, Richard Batchelor of Boise, Idaho, Woodrow Batchelor of Aberdeen, Texas and Quinton Batchelor of Texas and two grandchildren. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Graveside services will be held beginning at 930 a.m. on Friday in the Barrancas National Cemetery at Pensacola Naval Air Station. The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory. Funeral arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

Olga A. Kocsis
FAIRHOPE - Olga A. Kocsis, a resident of Amherst, Ohio, and a former resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Community Health Partners in Lorain, Ohio. She was 85. Mrs. Kocsis was a 1933 graduate of Lorain High School. She was formerly a member of the St. Ladislaus Church in Lorain and recently a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She enjoyed china painting, cross stitching and cooking. She is survived by two daughters, Gerri Smith and Pat Kinzer of Lorain, Ohio; a son, Keith Kocsis of Amherst, Ohio; her sister, Mary Kun and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday at the Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst, Ohio. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Fairhope.

Edward E. Breaux
Edward Elie Breaux, a former teacher at University Military School, died Monday at a local medical facility. He was 83. Breaux, a native of Melrodia Plantation near Thibodeaux, La., was a resident of Mobile for 49 years. At the age of 13, he joined the Brothers of the Sacred Heart as an aspirant and began his studies at St. Joseph Juniorate and Novitiate in Metuchen, N.J. After completing his studies, he entered religious life as Brother Camille Breaux in 1933, and began serving as an educator and formation master for young men seeking to become Brothers of the Sacred Heart. He taught at numerous schools, including Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La., St. Aloysius in New Orleans, Menard High School in Alexandria, La., and Sacred Heart Juniorate in Daphne. After leaving the religious life in 1958, he began his career at UMS, where he taught math and science until 1978. Upon retirement, he tutored students in the Mobile area. He also was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Among his survivors is a brother, Dr. Van Breaux of Donaldsonville, La. Visitation will be from 530 to 9 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with the rosary recited at 730 p.m. by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Sage Avenue. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Little Sister of the Poor, 1655 McGill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36604.

Pearl Faulkner
AXIS - Pearl Faulkner, a former Prichard resident who lived in Axis, died Nov. 6 at a local nursing home. She was 95. Faulkner, a Sunflower native, was a retired employee of the Mobile County Public School System. She is survived by a sister, Ella McCall of Axis. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, where services will follow at 1230 p.m. Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery in Sunflower.

Juanella W. Nobles
Juanella Watson Nobles, a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, died Sunday at her home. She was 61. Mrs. Nobles was a lifelong Mobilian. Among her survivors is her sister, Ethel W. Henderson of Mobile. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 605 Donald St., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Christian Benevolent Funeral Home.

Jesse L. Presnell
Jesse Leo Presnell, a retired teacher, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 55. Presnell was a native and resident of Mobile. He retired from the Marengo County school system and later worked for Wal-Mart and an Allstate Insurance office. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wright Presnell; his mother, Bonnie Presnell; three daughters, Deirdre Hall of Prichard, Natasha Presnell of Montgomery and Tramekia Hawkins of Birmingham; a son, Demetrius Gardner of Tuscaloosa; a stepdaughter, Michele York; two stepsons, Gregory Overton and Clifton Overton of Atlanta; a sister, Martha Presnell of Slidell, La.; two brothers, Alvin Presnell of Mobile and Donald Presnell of Prichard; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 210 W. Clark St., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Ellen K. Swann
Ellen K. "Betty" Swann, a homemaker and parishioner of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Swann, a native and resident of Mobile, was a member the Pirettes Mardi Gras association. She had been a volunteer for many years at Providence Hospital. Survivors include her husband, George Swann Sr.; two sons, Frank Swann of Fairhope and George Swann Jr. of Mobile; one daughter, Theresa Mixson of Fairhope; two brothers, Robert Kossow of Mobile and Alan Kossow of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Helen Stewart of Baton Rouge, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Tempye A. Foxx
GAINESTOWN - Tempye Ann Foxx, an employee of the Windwood Inn in Grove Hill, died Saturday at her home. She was 21. Ms. Foxx was a native and resident of Gainestown. Survivors include her parents, Jo Ann and William Foxx Jr. of Gainestown; a son, Jonathan Kendell Foxx of Gainestown; a daughter, Chelsie Renae Dozier Foxx of Gainestown; three brothers, William Foxx III, Bennie L. Foxx and Marvin J. Foxx, all of Gainestown; seven sisters, Rita Foxx Roberson and Aretha Foxx, both of Dawes, Stephanie Foxx and Jennifer Foxx Pulliam, both of Elkhart, Ind., Lou Ella Foxx of Auburn, and Rosa Foxx and Melissa Foxx, both of Gainestown; and her grandmother, Lottie Martin of Jackson. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. A private burial is planned.

Adrian Hunt
GAINESTOWN - Adrian Delaney Pritchett Hunt, a construction worker, died Saturday in Gainestown. He was 24. Hunt, a native and resident of Gainestown, was a graduate of Jackson High School. He was a member of Antioch AME Church of Alma, Ala. Known as "Bom" by family and friends, Hunt was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Survivors include his parents, John David and Ardell Hunt of Alma; grandparents, Earl and Minnie Hunt, Rosie Pritchett and Walter Pritchett, all of Alma; a sister, Iris Hunt of Alma; and two brothers, John O. Raymond Donaldson
PONTIAC, Mich. - Raymond F. Donaldson, a retired auto worker and a former Prichard resident, died Friday at his home. He was 64. Donaldson, a native of Frankville, Ala., was a graduate of the Mobile County Training School. He lived in Pontiac for the past 32 years and retired from Pontiac Motor Co. Survivors include his wife, Marian Donaldson of Pontiac; a son, Leon Eaton of Mobile; his stepmother, Jewel Donaldson of Mobile; four brothers, Charles Donaldson and Ralph Donaldson of Pontiac, Elston Donaldson of Detroit and Terrance Donaldson of Mobile; and four sisters, Florence Benoit and Paulette Wright of New Orleans, Brenda Rogers of Willow Grove, Pa., and Emelda Moten of Channel View, Texas. Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cobb's Funeral Home in Pontiac, where services are set for 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac.

Thomas E. Howell
SAN DIEGO - Thomas Edward Howell, a native of Semmes, died Oct. 22 in San Diego after an extended illness. He was 86. Howell was a 1932 graduate of Murphy High School. He served as a private in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1932 to 1936. He later joined the U.S. Army. He retired from the Merchant Marine after many years of service. In addition, he had served as an officer with the Mobile Police Department from September 1940 to August 1941. Howell's family lived in the area for generations. His late grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Howell, deeded the land in Semmes on which the one-room Semmes School was built in 1902, as well as the land across the road on which the original First Baptist Church was built shortly thereafter. The church no longer exists on the site. The schoolhouse was rededicated last year and is being refurbished to serve as a museum. Plans are also under way to build a replica of the church, which was formerly called Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and renamed First Baptist Church in 1904. Survivors include his sons, Thomas Ray Howell of Mobile, Donald Stuart Howell of San Diego and Robert Eugene Howell of Los Angeles; a sister, Beatrice "Bea" Howell Gainie of Houston; and a granddaughter. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Allentown Cemetery in Semmes. Memorials may be made to the Mobile Genealogical Society.

Mary A. Jackson
Mary Ann Jackson, a retiree of Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, died Wednesday at a local nursing facility. She was 79.
Ms. Jackson was a native of Gosport, Ala., and a resident of Mobile.
She was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Willie E. Jackson of Mobile; and a sister, Afersteen Jackson Lambert Grant of Mobile.
Arrangements will be announced by Johnson-Allen Mortuary.

William A. Jones Jr.
William Andrew Jones Jr., a former commander of American Legion Post No. 76, died Tuesday at his home. He was 69.
Jones, a lifelong Mobilian, was a past president of the Sertoma Club of Mobile and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a graduate of Spring Hill College.
Survivors include nine children, William Mark Jones, Philip M. Jones, Robert A. Jones, Patrick R. Jones, Richard D. Jones, Glen S. Jones, Paul T. Jones and James D. Jones, all of Mobile, and Catherine J. Crawford of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a brother, John V. Jones of Mobile; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where services are set for noon Saturday. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Lonnie J. McCants
Lonnie Joseph McCants, a native of Bayou La Batre and resident of Mobile for the past 50 years, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 50.
Among his survivors is his half-brother, Thomas B. Clampet Sr. of Theodore.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Oddfellow Hall in Bayou La Batre. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday in Oddfellow Cemetery. Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Winston R. Minchew
CITRONELLE Winston Ray Minchew, an assistant terminal manager for Safeway Transportation, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 64.
Minchew, a native of Brewton, Ala., was a resident of Citronelle. He attended Forest Lawn Baptist Church in Saraland.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Minchew of Citronelle; four sons, Winston Minchew of Millington, Tenn., Jimmy Minchew of Forked River, N.J., Raymond Minchew of Dauphin Island and Randy Minchew of Mobile; three daughters, Cindy Shoemaker of Atlanta, Lisa Hutchenson of Pensacola and Mari Ann Gehris of Birdsboro, Pa.; a stepson, William Polk of Jay, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Bryant of Creola; a brother, Sanford Minchew of Cranbury, Texas; a sister, Lorain Cook of Mobile; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle. Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Baptist Church, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland.

Mary Parham
Mary "Lil" Parham, a parishioner at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, died Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 69.
Mrs. Parham, a native and resident of Mobile, was a former member of a mystic society. She also was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 99 in Mobile for nearly 27 years and an alumna of the Convent of Mercy class of 1948.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Parham, Debbie Parham and Cindy Aspinwall; a son, Jerry Parham; and a sister, Dolores "Buddy" Statkewicz, all of Mobile; a brother, George Browne of Fairhope; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Parham donated her body to the University of South Alabama for medical research.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church.

James D. Jones
BAY MINETTE James Delma Jones, a retiree of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 68.
Jones, a native of Marks, Miss., was a resident of Bay Minette. He had worked as a computer programmer with the Corps of Engineers.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II .
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jones of Fairhope; two sons, Randall Dwight Jones of Florida and James Darrell Jones of Texas; four daughters, Janet Denise Tolan and Lisa Annette Smith, both of South Carolina, and Melanie Jones Roberts and Melinda Kay Ham, both of Alabama; two stepsons, Joe Ray Lovitt of Alabama and Mike Lovitt of Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes, followed by services at noon. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

James B. Hollington
WAWBEEK James Brenton "Jim" Hollington, an employee of Desoto Oil and Gas Co., died Monday in Brewton. He was 36.
Hollington, a native of the Moyeville community, was a resident of Wawbeek for the past eight years. He was a 1981 graduate of Flomaton High School.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Marie Hollington of Wawbeek; a son, John Brenton Hollington of Wawbeek; his parents, Shirley and Andrew W. Hollington of Flomaton; three brothers, John Darrell Hollington of Hazelgreen, Ala., Kenneth Walter Hollington of Ashland, Mass., and David Wiley Hollington of Flomaton; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hollington Perritt of Molino, Fla., Jennifer Lynn Breckenridge of Atmore, Ala., Andrea Carpenter of Century, Fla., and Joyce H. Holley of Flomaton.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Moyeville Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery in Flomaton. Flomaton Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Cammie Norris
LINDEN Cammie Gwendolyn Jones Norris, a former seamstress with Vanity Fair, died Wednesday at a local nursing facility. She was 79.
Mrs. Norris was a native of Marengo County and resident of Linden. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Sweet Water, Ala.
Survivors include four stepsons, Charles Norris of Linden, Walter Norris of Butler, Ala., Larry Norris of Sweet Water and Mike Norris of Dixons Mills; a brother, William H. Jones Jr. of Dixons Mills; 13 step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday in Shiloh Cemetery in Dixons Mills.

MONROE COUNTY

Thomas Ackerman Sr.
FRISCO CITY Thomas Donald Ackerman Sr., who worked for more than 40 years in the paper industry, died Monday in Rutherglen, Va. He was 70.
Ackerman, a native of Cottageville, S.C., was a resident of Frisco City.
He studied engineering at Clemson University, then began his career in the paper industry. In 1991, he retired as manager of maintenance at Alabama River Pulp.
He spent more than 30 years in the Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of captain.
Ackerman was a founding member of New Life Church of Monroeville, Ala., where he served as chairman of the board and treasurer. In addition, he had been instrumental in establishing New Life Christian School.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Myra Spradley Ackerman of Frisco City; three sons, Thomas Donald Ackerman Jr. of Merryville, La., George Paul Ackerman of Rutherglen and Richard Mark Ackerman of Cohutta, Ga.; a daughter, Deborah Ackerman Burns of Conway, Ark.; a sister, Elizabeth Ackerman Grimsley of Charleston Heights, S.C; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home in Monroeville, where services are set for 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pineville Cemetery in Monroeville.

Jesse W. Englett
HOHENWALD, Tenn. Jesse Willard Englett, a former longtime resident of the Mobile and Semmes areas, died Oct. 31 at a hospital in Linden, Tenn. He was 84.
Englett was a native of Pine Hill, Ala. While in living in the Mobile area, he had worked at International Paper Co. He also worked at Brookley Field until it closed, then went to work for Haas Davis Packing Co. He later moved to Melbourne, Fla., before settling on a ranch in Hohenwald.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Englett; and a son, Joseph Englett, both of Hohenwald; a daughter, Margie Ann Myers of Merritt Island, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Services took place Nov. 2 at First Baptist Church, with burial in Swiss Cemetery in Tennessee.

Ella L. Williams
DETROIT - Ella Louise Cooper Williams, a native Mobilian and longtime resident of Detroit, died Oct. 22 in a local hospital. She was 75.
Mrs. Williams also formerly lived in Chicago.
She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Detroit, where she served as a choir member, a president and vice president of the Busy Bee Club and chairwoman of the pastor's anniversary committee.
Survivors include a son, George Alfred Ankrom of Detroit; one sister, Daisy Elizabeth Duke of Mobile; two brothers, John B. Cooper and George Cooper of Mobile; her stepmother, Odessa Cooper of Prichard; and two half-sisters, Bertha Parker of Maywood, Ill., and Theresa Kirpatrick of Lynwood, Calif.
Services were held Oct. 29 at Unity Baptist Church, with burial in Detroit Memorial Park. McFall Brothers Funeral Home in Detroit handled arrangements.

DOROTHY IRENE SMITH
ROBERTSDALE - Dorothy Irene Smith, a resident of Robertsdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. She was 58.
Survivors include her daughter, Naomi McCurdy of Bradenton, Fla.; her son, Terry Smith of Bradenton; a sister, Helen Drummond of Elberta; two brothers, Bert McCurdy Jr. of Pace, Fla., and Benjamin Clayton McCurdy of Hillsville, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial following in Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.

LAMONT EDWARD TREGO
FAIRHOPE - Lamont Edward Trego died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at his home in Fairhope. Trego, 82, was a native of Rushland, Pa. He graduated from Morrisville, Pa., High School in 1937 and received his diploma in electrical training from the School of Industrial Arts in Trenton, N.J., in 1942.
Trego worked as a foreman/electrician for various transformer companies in the Trenton area including Trenton Transformer, B.F. Miller and Power Magnetics, prior to his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Yardley United Methodist Church in Yardley, Pa., where he served on the board of trustees for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Trego of Fairhope; two daughters, Sandra Hemphill of Morrisville, Pa., and Cheryl Dubiel of Fairhope; a son, Lloyd Trego of Orefield, Pa.; and three grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home in Yardley, Pa. The Rev. Barbara Pence will officiate and burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery in Newtown, Pa.
Local arrangements are being handled by Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope.

LUCILLE STHRELE WILLIS
GULF SHORES - Lucille Sthrele Willis, a resident of Gulf Shores, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Florida. She was 70.
Ms. Willis was a member of Lagoon Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence Willis of Bon Secour, Bill Willis of Gulf Shores and David Willis of Katy, Texas; two sisters, Mary DeBlasi of Daley City, Calif., and Edna Averitt of Foley; a brother, Alvin Sthrele of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial following in Miller Memorial Cemetery in Gulf Shores. The Rev. Ben Hayes and the Rev. Fred Freeman will officiate.

STEPHEN ALBERT BENDER
ELBERTA - Stephen Albert Bender, a resident of Elberta, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. He was 81.
Bender was a member of the Foley American Legion, the Elberta Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lillian Country Club. He was an avid bingo player and was well known throughout Baldwin County.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Louise A. Bender of Elberta; six nieces and three nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial following in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery in Elberta.
