Gussie M. Lofton
MOUNT VERNON - Gussie Mae Lofton, a homemaker, died Thursday at a local medical facility. She was 70.
Mrs. Lofton was a native and resident of Mount Vernon. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her husband, Adrian Lofton of Mount Vernon; seven sons, Adrian Lofton Jr., Steve Lofton, Jack Lofton, Mack Lofton and Zack Lofton, all of Mount Vernon, Neal Lofton of Semmes and Robert Lofton of McIntosh, Ala.; nine daughters, Elsie Weaver, Rita Byrd, Amy Weaver, Loriann Lambert, Delia Lomax, Mary Byrd, Jackie Weaver and Ginnie Byrd, all of Mount Vernon, and Eva Hollaway of Saraland; two brothers, Joe Orso and James Orso, both of Mount Vernon; 45 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, with services at 130 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery in Mount Vernon, with Freeman Funeral Home of Citronelle in charge.
Artie F. Botter
Artie F. Botter, a member of Zion Baptist Church for several years, died Thursday at a local nursing facility. She was 87.
Mrs. Botter was a native of Grand Bay and a longtime resident of Mobile.
Survivors include five children, Waring H. Botter and Eugene S. Botter, both of Wilmer, Marilyn B. Parker of Lucedale, Miss., William H. Botter and James M. Botter, both of Mobile.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, with services at 2 p.m., at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Quinton O. Phillips
Quinton O'Neal Phillips, a freshman at Davidson High School, died Monday in Mobile after a battle with cancer. He was 15.
Phillips was native and resident of Mobile. He was a member of Word of Life Community Church and had been active with Operation Mobile Sidewalk Sunday School.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Pearl Phillips of Mobile; his father, Henry O'Neal Gibby Sr.; and his grandparents, Henry and Hattie Gibby, all of Barlow Bend, Ala.; his great-grandmother, Hattie Phillips of Camden, Ala.; a brother, Marvin Phillips of Fort Stewart, Ga.; a stepbrother, Henry O. Gibby Jr. of Barlow Bend; two stepsisters, Lashunda R. Gibby of Barlow Bend and Alecia Marie Shelton of Vista, Calif.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson, Ala. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Fork Baptist Church in Suggsville, Ala., with viewing at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Roy E. Guthrie
Roy E. Guthrie, a native of Jefferson County and longtime resident of Chickasaw, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 69.
Survivors include his children, Linda Weaver and Cindy Parson, both of McCalla, Ala., and Rosemarie Seeley of Chickasaw; a sister, Geraldine Cook of Pace, Fla.; a brother, George Guthrie of Beardstown, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at noon today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with graveside services at 1 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
James McCormick Sr.
James "Mac" Arthur McCormick Sr., a retiree of Military Reserve No. 226 Field Depot, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 67.
McCormick was a lifelong resident of the Mobile area. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Louise Brown McCormick of Semmes; a daughter, Sheryl M. Stokes of Wilmer; a son, James Arthur McCormick Jr. of Mobile; his mother, Marguerite Arns McCormick; four brothers, Joseph Daniel McCormick Jr., Edward G. McCormick, Paul O. McCormick and Robert Daniel McCormick; and three grandchildren.
Service are set for 11 a.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Brandon M. Newberry
Brandon Michael Newberry, a newborn, died Tuesday morning at a local hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Tina Newberry; his grandfather, Thomas H. Newberry Jr.; and his great-grandparents, Doris and Thomas H. Newberry Sr., and Grace Johnson.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with graveside services at 2 p.m. in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Emma Todd
GROVE HILL - Emma Lee Martin Todd, a homemaker, died Saturday at her home. She was 68.
Mrs. Todd was a native and resident of Grove Hill, where she was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church No. 2.
Survivors include her husband, Hoover Todd of Grove Hill; a daughter, Daphine Abston of St. Stephens, Ala.; two sisters, Jessie Dickinson and Clara Bell Pugh, both of Grove Hill; a brother, Bernard Martin of Gulfport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, with services at 1 p.m., at Mount Zion Baptist Church No. 2 in Grove Hill. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, with Andrews Funeral Home in charge.
Sidney Jackson Sr.
CARLTON - Sidney Jackson Sr., a retired cook, died Tuesday at his home. He was 88.
A native of Rockville, Ala., Jackson was a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Mae Jackson; and a son, Andrew Jackson Sr., both of Carlton; five daughters, Lemelia Collins and Deloise Coleman, both of Mobile, Lillian Nettles of Jackson, Ala., Annie Thomas and Mattie James, both of Carlton; a sister, Arlene Foreman of Fairhope; a brother, Champion Jackson Sr. of Rockville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, with viewing two hours before. Burial will be in the church Cemetery,with Andrews Funeral Home directing.
William R. Emrich
INDIO, Calif. - William R. Emrich, a Mobile native and a resident of Indio, Calif., died Saturday at his home. He was 70.
Emrich, a Navy veteran, was a former cryptographer with the State Department and was stationed in Rome, Italy.
He had been a counselor at Mission of Hope in Mobile. He was also an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his sister, Evelyn Perry.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne.
Victor Carroll
A native of Kenton, TN and a resident of Mobile died Wednesday, November 17, 1999. Mr. Carr oll was a veteran of the US Army and was a sales manager in the auto industry fo r many years. Funeral services will be held November 20, 1999 at 10AM from the chapel. Interment

Donnie Lynxwiler Harbaugh
A native of Marysville, K ansas and a long time resident of Mobile died on Mon day, November 15, 1999 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville P. Harbaugh of Mobile and her father and mother, Burnell and Myrtle Lynxwiler of Marysville, Kansas. She is survived by two stepchildren, Dr. Paige Harbaugh and Aaron Harbau gh; two daughters-in-law, Dr. Tara Wah and Celeste Harbaugh; four grandchildren, Ian, Britni, Jacque and Sara Harbaugh. Survivors al so include, aunts, Fern Barker and Delora Young; an uncle, Bill Lynxwiler; life long friends, Patricia Rodgers, Jerry and Janet Roge rs, Gloria Turner and Bill and Bettye Carpenter. The family and friends particul arly appreciate and wish to recognize the warm, loving care provided by many caregivers, especially, Joan Parnell and Carmen Hill. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road. Mrs. Grace K. Long
Age 82. A native of Clarke County, Qui tman, MS and long time resident of Eight Mile died on Thursday, November 18, 1999 at her residence. She was a member of Life Church. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert H. Long of Eight Mile; two sons, Charles V. (Angele) Fleming of Chunchula, George B. (Jacaline) Fleming of Fort Walton Beach, FL; two brothers, James J. Kemp, Mobile, George E. Mr. Thomas Patrick McArdle, Jr
A native and life long resident of Mobile, AL died on Thursday, Novemb er 18, 1999. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, member of the Little Flower Golden Age Club, Buccaneer Yacht Club, American Legion, and WWII Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hall McArdle. Survived by brother, Msgr. Joseph G. McArdle of Mobile, AL; sister-in-law, Anne H. Hall of Mobile, AL; nieces, nephe ws, and other relatives. Mr. James ``Mac'' Arthur McCormick, Sr.
Fune ral services were held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Friday, November 19, 1999 at 1100 A.M. with Rev. Ed Beachum and Rev. John Aherne and Rev. Monsignor Joseph Jennings officiating. Pallbearers were Adam Brunson, Dennis Levene, Robert Wo rley, David White, Tom McCormick and Mat McCormick. Full military honors were conducted at the gravesite by VFW post #49. Interment

Kathryn Anne Randall
A native of Mobile, AL and a resident of S. Orange, NJ died Tuesday, November 16, 199 9. Ms. Randall was born October 1, 1957. She was 42 at the time of her death. Ms. Randall was the Vice President of Communications with Prudential Insurance at their headquarters in Newark, NJ. Before moving to New Jersey, Ms. Randall was Communication Director of Prudential Bank and Trust in Atlanta, GA. She attended St. Ignatius, was a 1975 graduate of Julius T. Wright Preparatory School, and also a graduate of American University, Washington, D.C. She was preceded in d eath by her father, George W. Randall. She is surviv ed by her mother, Jane McGarry Randall of S. Orange, NJ; two sisters, Jane Randa ll Leonard and Peggy (Ken) Rosenberg, all of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Robert (Pat) Randall, Point Clear, AL; nephews, Daniel (Lee ) Rosenberg, Chicago, IL and Mac Randall, Point Clea r; nieces, Megan Rosenberg, St. Louis, MO, Meredith Randall and Anne Randall, both of Point Clear. A native of Wheelervi lle and a resident of Grand Bay, AL died at his resi dence on Thursday, November 18, 1999. He was a charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a member of VFW Post #49. Martha Lou Davis Smith
Longtime resident of Mobile, died November 17, of a heart attack. Martha Smith was a Christian, a faithful member of Hollinger's Island Baptist Church for many years and of Semmes First Baptist the past year. Martha Smith was a homemaker, writer, accomplished pianist, Sunday School teacher, and worked for many years as counselor to troubled youth through the Christian Home Service Board. She leaves her loving husband of 63 y ears, E. Howard Smith, Semmes, AL; son, Howard L. (Linda M.) Smith, Semmes, AL; daughter, Martha Ann (Dr. Phillip C.) Posey, Liberty , MO; grandchildren, Teresa Posey Miller, Kansas Cit y, Scott Posey, San Francisco, Dawn Posey, Cincinnati, John E. Mr. Mitchell graduated from Jefferson, TX. schools. He was a retired Lt. Commander with the US Navy. He was a district manager with H&R Block Tax Service. He was a member of the Summerville Masonic Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a member of Oakbrook Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Franae Maples Mitchell of Summerville, SC; 2 daughters, Debra R. Smith of Bayonne, NJ, and Tandy M. Moye of Mt.
