Pauline Krisher

MADISON, Wisc. - Pauline Krisher, 90, of Madison, died in her sleep on Saturday, June 16, 2001.
The daughter of Mayme and Albert Fenicle of Kunkle, Ohio, she was a 1928 graduate of Kunkle High School. In 1928 she married Clark Krisher, and he preceded her in death in 1967. Surviving are two sons, Keith and Ted, both near Madison; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, was a son, Kent, in 1999.
Services will be held in Madison, with burial in the Roselawn Cemetery in Madison.
Virginia Marie Underwood
(1932 - 2001)
EDGERTON - Virginia Marie Underwood, 69, of Edgerton, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she had been a patient for one week.
The daughter of Emma (Bracken) and Elmer Moore, she was born June 2, 1932, in Wellington. On June 12, 1948, in Wellington, she married Emanuel E. Underwood, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1994.
Retired as an assembler from AirWay Manufacturing in Edgerton, she had been a member of the Butler, Ind., American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Dean and Donald Eugene Underwood, both of Edgerton; a daughter, Kay Marie Sloan of Alba, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Jean Cutright, formerly of Wellington.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Dwight Bowers officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton.

Lelah B. Clemens

DEFIANCE - Lelah B. Clemens, 86, of Defiance, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in the Defiance Hospital.
The daughter of Viola C. (Fair) and Fred E. Slough, she was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Defiance County. On April 15, 1939, she married Lawrence J. Clemens, and he survives.
A machine operator in the automotive parts industry, she was retired from ITT Highbea in Archbold.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Jim Clemens of Sylvania and Daniel Clemens of Defiance; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Fronk of Defiance and Mrs. Jim (Mildred) Wire of Defiance.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Philip Clemens; three brothers, Theodore, Emery and John Slough; and two sisters, Mabel Butler and Bertha Smith.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home in Defiance. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Braun officiating. Interment
will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Esma E. Miller

Esma E. Miller, 81, of rural Bryan, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at the Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan, where she had been a patient since Saturday evening.
The daughter of Elnora (Shook) and James A. Schoonover, she was born April 7, 1920, in Troy Township in DeKalb County, Ind. On April 27, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., she married Phillip Herman Miller, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1995.
A finisher at Bryan Custom Plastics for 17 years prior to her retirement, she was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bryan.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jody (Phyllis) Caperton of Bryan; two grandsons, John (and fiancee, Julie Sullivan) Caperton and James (and wife, Julie) Caperton, both of Bryan; two great-grandsons, John P. Caperton II and Tyler James Caperton, also of Bryan; and four stepgranddaughters, Jessica, Becky, Natasha and Stephanie.
Preceding her in death were three brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Christopher Hintz officiating.

LeAnna M. Sauder Gautsche

ARCHBOLD - LeAnna M. Sauder Gautsche, 73, Archbold, died Friday afternoon, June 15, 2001, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, where she had resided for 12 days. Born Jan. 25, 1928, near Pettisville, to Viola (Yedica) and Harry Sauder, she married Dale Gautsche on Aug. 22, 1948, and he survives.
A lifelong resident of the Pettisville-Archbold area, she was a Pettisville school bus driver. In 1976, she and her husband opened the Die Alt Scheier Restaurant at Sauder Village. Later she began a bed and breakfast in their home at Pettisville.
In 1996, she retired and moved to a Fairlawn duplex. She was involved in the Mennonite Economic Development Association, Fairlawn Haven and Mennonite Women, and she volunteered at the Fulton County Health Center. She was a charter member of the Tedrow Mennonite Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Kevin (and wife, Angela) Gautsche of Camden, Mich., Luther (Mary Ann) Gautsche of Archbold and LaDell Gautsche of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Alonna) Sprunger of Lancaster, Pa.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Troyer of Elida and Mrs. Allen (Donna) Gnagey of Archbold.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Tedrow Mennonite Church.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Tedrow Mennonite Church with Pastor Randy Nafziger officiating. Interment
in the Pettisville Cemetery will precede services. Short Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of the arrangements.
Lucille B. Beattie

SHERWOOD - Lucille B. Beattie, 90, Sherwood died Friday morning, June 15, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 3, 1910, in Mark Center, to Bessie Mae (Ostander) and Walter Rohn, she was married to Clifford J. Beattie and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1967.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Ney Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Defiance, and the Sherwood Evangelical United Brethren Church. She collected chickens for over 50 years and was an avid fisherwoman. Also, she was all-county forward from 1927 to 1928 for the Mark Center basketball team.
Surviving are two sons, Norman L. (and wife, Lorraine) Beattie and John W. (Gilda) Beattie, both of Defiance; two daughters, Colleen Noragon and Mrs. Francis (Patricia) Mast, both of Sherwood; two sisters, Susie Phillips and Esther Robinson, both of Hicksville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Negley Rohn. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. in the Rice Funeral Home-Sherwood. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Defiance Area Hospice and Visiting Nurses or to an agency of the donor's choice.
Vivian G. Bernath

STRYKER - Vivian G. Bernath, 78, of Stryker, died late Thursday evening, June 14, 2001, in her home.
The daughter of Frances (Hall) and Aubrey Replogle, she was born May 13, 1923, in Stryker. On May 29, 1942, she married Richard Bernath, and he survives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stryker and the Stryker American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Roger Bernath of Layton, Utah, Charles (and wife, Rosemary) Bernath of Battlecreek, Mich., and William (Pam) Bernath of Stryker; three daughters, Sharilyn Black of Ada, Okla., Mrs. Timothy (Pamela) Oberlin of Stryker and Mrs. Jan (Laura) Schlosser of Bryan; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis "Dutch" Replogle of Evansport; and two sisters, Gonda Shade of Bryan and Mary Fleagle of Stryker.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker on Monday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Stryker at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Douglass and the Rev. Ernest Belella officiating. Burial will follow in the Evansport Cemetery.

Harold D. Wasson, Sr.
AUBURN, Ind. - Harold D. Wasson, Sr., 58, of Auburn, Ind., died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at RML Specialty Hospital, Hinsdale, Ill.
Born in DeKalb County, he was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 305 for 39 years and was also a past business agent with the labor union. Surviving are his wife, Rosa Marlene; a son, Harold D. "Buzz" Jr. of Indianapolis; a daughter, Dawnyail Marie Ahrndt of Waterloo; a brother, Thomas Wallace of Chicago; two sisters, Glenda Sanchez of Bryan, Ohio and Sue Ann McKean of Butler; a stepbrother, Richard Lee Roberts of St. Joe; a stepsister, Jessica Haifley of Angola; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, Auburn. There are no calling hours.

Dennis F. Moog

Dennis F. Moog, 89, of Bryan, died early Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2001, in Community Hospital Williams County-Bryan where he had been a patient.
Born Jan. 12, 1912, in Ney, to Lottie (Boyer) and Frank R. Moog, he married Anna M. McCutcheon on May 18, 1935 and she survives.
A member of the First Brethren Church, Bryan, he retired from the former Pet Milk Company, Bryan after 19 years of service.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Richard (and wife, Linda) Moog and Lyle (Helene) Moog, both of Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Mary Anne) Stickney of Hicksville; eight grandchildren, Peggy McCarty, Glenn Moog, Martha Hamre, Stacey Gumbert, Amy Hamilton, Daniele Rickert, Tony Moog, Jennifer Stanney and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy L. Moog and a brother, Clarence Moog. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in the Rice Funeral Home-Bryan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the First Brethren Church, Bryan with the Rev. Troy Cummins to officiate.

David James Ruple

DELTA - David James Ruple, 52, of Delta, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital in Toledo, following a lengthy illness.
The son of Christine Helen (Huber) and Merlyn James Ruple, he was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Wauseon. On Aug. 1, 1970, he married Janet K. Guilford in Ada, and she survives.
He was employed as a mason for the Greisinger Concrete Contractors of Delta.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Abbey Christine Ruple and Lauren Michelle Ruple; two sons, Nathan James Ruple and Adam Wesley Ruple, all of Delta; his mother, Christine Helen (Huber) Ruple of Delta; two sisters, Rebecca Ruple (and Frank Riegelman) of Huber Heights and Mrs. Michael (Rhoda) Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father, Merlyn James Ruple in November 1968.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home in Delta, and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Delta.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the church, with the Rev. Randy Ginn of Way International of Perrysburg officiating. Interment

ARCHBOLD - Doris E. Liechty, 78, of Archbold, died Friday evening, Aug. 3, 2001, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had been a resident since July 26.
The daughter of Tillie (Stalter) and Rudy Schertz, she was born June 24, 1923, at Roanoke, Ill. On May 22, 1945, she married Herman Liechty, and he survives.
Living most of her life in the Archbold area, she was a homemaker and a member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church near Pettisville.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Allen (and wife, Ginny) Liechty of Archbold and Eric (Debbie) Liechty of Edgewood, Ky.; five daughters, Mrs. Galen (Carolyn) Wenger of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Mryl (Phyllis) Nofziger, Mrs. Jay (Barbara) Detweiler, Mrs. Kurt (Rachel) Eby and Mrs. Jud (Rita) Gingrich, all of Goshen, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Lola) Basinger of Bluffton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant granddaughter, Karla Liechty; a brother, Marvin Schertz; and a sister, Alta Glick.
Visitation was to have been Sunday from 3-9 p.m. at the West Clinton Mennonite Church. Memorial services were to have been held today at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastors James Roynon and Ronald Guengerich officiating. Interment

The daughter of Mary (Popa) and John Chelsea, she was born in Massillon on May 29, 1939. She attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon.
Surviving are four sisters, Carol, Cecilia of Montpelier, Elizabeth and Ellie; and a brother, John of Marion.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister; and a brother.

SHERWOOD - Kenith Ronald "Ron" Crisp, 60, of Evansport, died suddenly early Friday morning, Aug. 3, 2001.
The son of Pearl (Setser) and Perry Crisp, he was born April 13, 1941, in Davisport, Ky. On June 1, 1962, he married Clara N. Gamble, and she survives.
A member of the Stryker United Brethren Church and a former member of the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, he was employed as a truck driver for Isaac Metal Management. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Ronald D. Crisp of Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rhonda) Brown of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Tom Crisp of Sharples, W.Va.; eight sisters, Josephine Lane of Danville, W.Va., Lorraine Weikle of Perrysville, Leona Gamble, Carolyn Wells, Yvonne Ward and Sandra Wells, all of Tomahawk, Ky., Dorothy Bostelman of Haviland and Zanna Rash of Auburndale, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, McKenley and Harold Crisp. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Rice Funeral Home in Sherwood. TOLEDO - Rosaline A. (Curtis) Buehrer, 76, of Toledo, and formerly of Bryan, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Flower Hospital.
The daughter of Gertrude (Coy) and John M. Curtis, she was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Stryker. On Aug. 6, 1941, she married William E. Buehrer in Williams County, and he preceded her in death in May 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Robin) Smith of Perrysburg; a son, William (and wife, Margaret) Buehrer of Nashville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, including Chantel Buehrer of West Unity and Mrs. Brian (Chrissy) Godfrey of Stryker; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Mike (June) Curtis of Sherwood and Tom (Betty) Curtis of Riverview, Mich; and a sister, Mrs. John (Florence) Grime of Archbold.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were a daughter, Bonnie S. Mills; a brother, Curly; and four sisters, Ella, Mae, Eve and Izzy.
There will be no visitation, and a memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home in Perrysburg, with Pastor Jim Wenger officiating. Burial will be private.

NEY - Roma Lee Hageman, 66, of Ney, died late Thursday evening, Aug. 2, 2001, in the Brookside Healthcare Center in Defiance, where she was a resident.
The daughter of Elsie (Fitzenrider) and James Van Nuys, she was born in Defiance on Oct. 5, 1934. On May 10, 1957, she married Richard Hageman, who preceded her in death on May 18, 2001.
A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherwood, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for several Defiance businesses.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Duane (Sandy) Dukes of Bryan; and several other nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Rice Funeral Home in Bryan. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Eble officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.

TOLEDO - Steven Louis Evearitt, 40, of Toledo, and formerly of Bryan, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
The son of Arlene and Jack Hageman, he was born Jan. 19, 1961, in Toledo. A self-employed carpenter, he served in the United States Army.
Surviving are a son, Timothy Steven Evearitt of Bryan; eight brothers, Dale, Jr., Rex and Billy Evearitt, all of Toledo, and John, Gene, Jesse and Nick Hageman, all of Bryan; and five sisters, Connie Theilan and Julie Evearitt of Toledo, Cindy Fowler of Edon, Mishelle Rice of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jody Cliffton of Bryan.

Chester J. Bauer, 83, of Bryan, died early Thursday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2001, in the Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan, where he had been a patient.
The son of Laura (Tierney) and Carl Bauer, he was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Utica, N.Y. On June 26, 1943, he married Fanny E. Heer, and she survives.
A U.S. Navy Sea Bees veteran of World War II, he had been employed as a tool and die maker with the Defiance Machine Works, 50+5, Fifty Corporation and Bryan Custom Plastics.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Joan Bauer of Findlay and Mrs. David (Pat) Smith of Leo, Ind.; and a grandson, First Lieutenant Lyncoln Smith of El Paso, Texas.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Mrs. Wilford (Ruth) Brunnock.

WEST UNITY - Mary Lou Prentice, 93, of West Unity, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Hillside Country Living in Bryan.
The daughter of Lidy (Givin) and Edward Carrington, she was born May 30, 1908, in Illinois. Surviving is a brother, Vernell (and wife, Arlene) Carrington of West Unity.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Tom Carrington and John Carrington.
Graveside services were held Wednesday in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette, with the Rev. Fr. John Shiffler officiating.

BERRYVILLE, Va. - Brandon DeGroff Blake, 16, of Berryville, died Monday, July 23, 2001, in Clarke County.
The son of Lynn (DeGroff) and Robert Palmer Blake, he was born Oct. 12, 1984. He was a member of the junior class at Clarke County High School and was a member of DECA and the Clarke County High School football and baseball teams. He was also treasurer of the Interact Club.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, Garrett Palmer Blake at home; a sister, McKenzie Devon Blake at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce DeGroff of Leesburg; paternal grandmother, Gretha Blake of Leesburg; and great aunts and uncles, Polly and Morton DeGroff of Stryker, Ohio, Barb and Norm DeGroff and Roma and Clarence DeGroff, all of Bryan, Ohio. Visitation was Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.

MONTPELIER - Bernice H. Casesbere, 93, of rural Montpelier, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, 2001, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, following a brief illness.
The daughter of Anna (Strong) and Edmund G. Piper, she was born March 25, 1908, in Stryker. She was the widow of Harold O. Casebere, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1969. A homemaker and Montpelier resident most of her adult life, she was a 1927 graduate of Stryker High School.
Surviving is a sister, Pauline Morris of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two sisters, Frances Langenderfer and Eva Grime; and two brothers, Lawrence Piper and Edmund Piper.
The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier, with a scripture service at 8 p.m.

BLAKESLEE - Virginia R. Muehlfeld, 75, of Blakeslee, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in the Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, where she was a patient.
The daughter of Marguerite (Bourgus) and Everett Ruhlman, she was born March 28, 1926, in Royal Oak, Mich. On Feb. 7, 1948, she married Paul R. Muehlfeld in Edgerton, and he survives. A homemaker, she also worked in the St. Joseph Catholic School cafeteria for many years. A 1944 graduate of Edgerton High School, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, the Rosary Altar Society and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four sons, Van (and wife, Cathy) Muehlfeld of Blakeslee, Tim Muehlfeld of Flagstaff, Ariz., Jeff Muehlfeld of Miami, Fla. and Skip (Rachel) Muehlfeld of Edgerton; a daughter, Mrs. Terry Eckard (Cindy Radke) of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Trent, Heidi, O.J., Brian, Kylie, Kelsey and Megan Muehlfeld; six great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Dorothy Ruhlman of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Ruhlman of New Baltimore, Mich. and Joe (Jean) Ruhlman of Milford, Mich.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mose (Dorothy) Mohre of Blakeslee and Carol Davison of Greers Ferry, Ark.
Preceding her in death were a son, Joseph, in 1992; a brother, Bill Ruhlman; a sister, Mary Lou Ruhlman; and a great-grandson, Seth Muehlfeld.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, with scripture services at 8 p.m.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, with the Rev. Fr. Frederick Duschl officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School or to Sarah's House.
