RITTMAN -- Dorothy H. Todd, 68, of 179 Home St. died Friday, Aug. 21, at her home. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. She was born May 10, 1930 in Barberton to David and Daisy (Belkey) Blouir and married Hoyt Todd. He died in 1984. She lived in Rittman since 1960, and was a homemaker and a member of the Rittman First Church of Christ. Surviving are a daughter, Karen (David) Erhard of Sterling and sons, Curtis Todd of Rossville, Ga., Kraig Todd and Keith Todd, both of Rittman; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Blouir of Barberton, and Louie Blouir of South Carolina; sisters, Hettie Mitchell of Sun City, Ariz., Elizabeth Benchott of Dallas, Betty Bramlett and Hazel Phillips both of Akron, and Daisy Rollins of Barberton. In addition to her husband, a son, Kenneth, died in 1995.

Isa Harvey
CRESTON -- Isa D. Harvey, 91, of Coulter Street, Creston, formerly of Rittman, died Saturday, Aug. 22, at Meadowview Care Center in Seville. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Surviving are daughters, Jeanne (Julius) Rosenberg and Pat (Ellis) Stepp, both of Creston; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Howell of Rittman.

William Croskey
SHREVE -- William Gary Croskey, 65, 393 E. Robinson St., died Friday, Aug. 21, at Wooster Community Hospital. A memorial graveside service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Shreve, with military rites being conducted by Shreve American Legion Post 67. There will be no calling hours. Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements. Surviving are children, Michael K. Croskey, Deb Miller and Darcy Croskey, all of Shreve; stepchildren, Annette Deneke, Gregory Dalessandro and Sharon Crosser, all of Orrville; four grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Croskey of Lothian, Md.

WOOSTER -- Beaton F. Pettengill, 75, 336 Dorchester Road, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 21, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. The Rev. Ralph Fogel and Samuel W. Speck will officiate. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to Muskingum College. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, John B. and Lloydean Pettengill of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a son, Kip Pettengill of Wooster; a granddaughter, Gwyneth Pettengill; and a brother, John W. APPLE CREEK -- Elmer S. Miller, 28, 3914 S. Kohler Road, died Saturday, Aug. 22, at MetroHealth Medical Center. Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Dan Zook officiating. Homer Lowe
SMITHVILLE -- A memorial service will be held at the Smithville United Methodist Church, Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m., for Homer James Lowe, 77, formerly of Smithville, who died very shortly after being admitted to Wooster Community Hospital. Friends and acquaintances may pay their respects at 8 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Homer's life of giving culminated in his final gift of his body to Case Western Reserve University. Surviving are his six children, Mrs. Howard (Jennifer) Martin of Kansas City, Kan., Dennis and Richard Lowe of Coshocton, Jerry Lowe of Creston, Mrs. Joseph (Lynda) Berman of Athens, Ohio, and Mrs. Joseph (Myra) Leeper of Smithville; 10 grandchildren; and his twin sisters Mrs. Gaylen (Dorothy) Hochstetler of Smithville and Mrs. Syl (Donna) Hentschel of Canton. HOLMESVILLE -- Austin Cody Hostetler, two-day-old son of Nathan E. and Angela (Glick) Hostetler, 8730 Township Road 564, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. Services were held this morning, Aug. 27, at 10 at Bethany Mennonite Church Cemetery, Holmesville, with Eli Hostetler officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Surviving in addition to his parents are grandparents, Albert and Elaine Glick of Massillon and Emanuel and Katie Hostetler of Finger, Tenn.; great-grandparents, Roy Zook of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Yost T. and Fannie Hostetler of Holmesville and Emma Shetler of Fredericksburg.

ORRVILLE -- Juanita C. Halteman, 100, formerly of 409 S. Main St., died Thursday, Aug. 27, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in North Canton. ORRVILLE -- Fae Opal Fischer, 94, 714 Garfield Ave., Orrville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, May 11, 1998. She had been residing at her daughter's home, Kathleen Poyer, 292 Alturas Ave., Sunnyvale, Calif., for the last 4 1/2 years. Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at 3 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, with Pastor Dennis Woodruff officiating. Surviving are twin daughters, Kathleen Poyer and Marleen Mangle of Sunnyvale, Calif; grandsons, Kenneth, Robert and George Mangle, Steven and Jeffrey Poyer and a granddaughter, Karen (Poyer) Cabral, along with a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and seven great-grandchildren.

DAYTON -- William R. Shelton, 78, of Dayton, died Thursday, Aug. 27. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Dayton, with the Rev. Richard Coldwell officiating. Private entombment for the family only will be at Woodland Mausoleum. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. He was owner and operator of Shelton's Pharmacy and Medical Supply for 55 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Ohio Pharmacists Association, Wayne Avenue Business Association, Miami Valley Pharmaceutical Association, National Association of Retail Druggists, the Dayton Country Club, and a member and chaplain of American College of Apothecaries. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth L. Shelton; sons and daughter-in-law, William R. Shelton II of North Carolina and Jonathan P. and Nancy R. Shelton of Dayton, and a daughter, Susan Shelton of Dayton; four grandsons, Jeffrey M. and Kristen of North Carolina, Richard C. II of California, Jonathan II of Dayton, and David W. of Dayton; three granddaughters, Sarah E. of Florida, Kathleen A. of North Carolina, and Erin G. of Dayton; and one great-grandson, William Tyler. A son, Richard C. Shelton, died in 1990

Ralph Fogel officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. He was born June 17, 1920 in Henderson, Ky., to Willis Wesley and Ruby (Bryant) Stone and was married to Phyllis (Devers) Jenkins Stone for 39 years. She survives. He had been a former oil and gas driller with W.B. Armstrong Drilling. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Clarice Coker and Mary Watson, both of Kentucky, Dianna Krepps and Sue Wescover, both of Indiana, John V. Stone of Shreve, Sandra Fath, Ronald and Donald Stone, all of Wooster; stepchildren, Richard Jenkins, Kay Bascom and Barbara James, all of Wooster and Doris Johnson of Shreve; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Watson of Henderson, Ky.; brothers, Thomas Stone of Mississippi and Marlin Stone of Bradford, Pa.; a half-brother, Earl DeLong of Illinois; and a half-sister, Ann Moyer of Maryland. A brother, David, died previously.

Ruth McKinney
NORTH CANTON -- Ruth M. (Falk) McKinney, 84, of North Canton, died early Friday morning, Aug. 21, at St. Luke Lutheran Home. Services were held Monday morning, Aug. 24, at Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home in Canton. The Rev. Thomas C. Smith officiated. Private burial was at North Lawn Cemetery. She was born in Orrville and was a retired registered nurse from Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Canton. Surviving are sons, Terrence J. McKinney of Connecticut, John C. McKinney of Massillon and Gregory P. McKinney of Hudson; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, John I. McKinney, died in 1972.

Gene Johnson
WOOSTER -- Gene E. Johnson, 74, 444 E. Beverly Road, died Thursday, Aug. 27 at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, following a two month illness. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Parkview Church of Christ, with the Revs. Gary Pettyjohn and Pat Hartson officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Township Cemetery in Holmesville. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Northeastern Ohio Assn. of Helpers, P.O. Box 8251, Canton 44711 or to Parkview Church of Christ, 1912 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691. He was born on Sept. 10, 1923 in Benton to Nels and Florence (Rowe) Johnson and married E. Maxine Butler on March 19, 1943. She survives. He graduated from Holmesville High School and served in the Army during World War II with the 104th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. He retired in 1988 from Frito-Lay and continued part time as a consultant until his illness. He was a member of Parkview Church of Christ and L. C. Boles Friday morning Seniors Golf League, and a former director of Northeastern Ohio Assn. of Helpers (NOAH). Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Thomas Nisius of Westlake, and Beverly and Gregory Siek of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Michael Nisius of Westlake, Kimberly Nisius of Greenville, N.C., and Gregory Nisius of Bowling Green; a sister, Marjorie Williams of Mantua, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Stan Grant of Lodi, and brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Dorothy Johnson of Navarre, Ronald and Vicki Johnson of Savannah, James and Chris Johnson of Parkman, and Timothy and Marilyn Johnson of Mansfield. A sister, Betty Dewalt, died previously.

George Lang
ASHLAND -- George Rex Lang, 77, of Township Road 1104, Ashland, died Friday morning, Aug. 28, at his residence, after a long illness. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Pflueger officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland, or one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army or Hospice of North Central Ohio. He was born March 31, 1921 in Loudonville to George and Catherine (Yarman) Lang and married Mary Jo Linn on Dec. 9, 1945. She died on June 10, 1994. He had been a resident of Ashland and Holmes Counties all of his life and was involved with farming. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Leaders Sunday School Class, Ashland Coin Club, National Farmer's Organization, Natural Farming Activist, and on the board for Federal Land Bank. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Denbow of Wooster, sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Lang of Savannah, Ronald and Judy Lang, Jon and Wendy Lang, and Gary and Linda Lang, all of Ashland, and Joe and Wanda Lang of West Salem; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a twin sister, Ruth Leeper of Wooster.

Oliver Logston
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- Oliver Z. Logston, of Parkersburg, W. Va., and formerly of Orrville, died Thursday, Aug. 27 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rockport Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Everett Snyder officiating. Burial will be at Limestone Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman in South Parkersburg. He was born in Pennsylvania to Everett and Mary (Pifer) Logston and married Dorothy Griswold. She survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 15. He had been employed by Shafer Valve in Orrville as a welder. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Janet Crockett of Bealeton, Va.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One brother, Howard Logston, died previously.

Charles Hoy
WOOSTER -- Charles R. "Dick" Hoy, 70, formerly of East Moreland Road, Wooster, died Friday, Aug. 28, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Westerville. Graveside services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster. He was born April 15, 1928 in Wooster to James and Ruth (Seib) Hoy. He was the owner and operator of a sawmill in Moreland. Surviving are his daughter, Connie McWilliam of Sutterlin, Ore.; a grandson, Troy Bell of Columbus; and half-sisters, Shirley Beckler of Wooster and Pat Miller of California. His father and mother, Ruth Seib Hoy Miller, died previously.

RITTMAN -- John Updegrove, 70, 291 N. Main St., died Saturday morning, Aug. 29, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Dr. J. A. Burton officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are a niece, Mary Updegrove of Rittman with whom he had made his home; a brother, Leroy of Amhurst and a sister, Rose Swoyer of Pottstown, Pa.

WOOSTER -- Regina A. Kriner, 64, 905 Portage Road, Apt. 247, died Friday evening, Aug. 28, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a short illness. LINCOLN, Neb. -- Robert E. Cupp, 65, of Lincoln, Neb., died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998. Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, Neb. with the Rev. Dr. Don McCall officiating. There will be no calling hours. Surviving are his wife, Marlene; daughter and fiance, Mary and Tom Makar of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and C.T. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Douglas Wantz officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Surviving are sons, Eugene (Dawn) Ziegler of Creston and Philip (Gretchen) Ziegler of Sheffield Lake; three grandchildren; and his stepfather, Cletus Kurtz of Smithville.

WOOSTER -- Thelma K. Oliver, 79, of Williamsburg Court, died Sunday, Aug. 30, at Cleveland Clinic. SHILOH -- Lois Pennell, 89, of Shiloh, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 30, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard, after a short illness. She was the mother of Lucille (Don) McLaughlin of Burbank. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich, with the Rev. Linda Heinlen officiating. Burial will be at Edwards Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwich Public Library, 4 New St., Greenwich 44837; or to Shiloh United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home. Surviving in addition to her daughter are a son, Rich (Peggy) Pennell of Plymouth; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Amstutz of Bailey Lakes and Dean Amstutz of Shiloh; and a sister, Dorothy Humbert of Shiloh.

Surviving are children, Ronald Akin and Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Harford, both of Killbuck, Eileen Ackeret of Adam Mills and Mrs. Larry (Jeanne) Phillips of Danville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Majora Rodhe of Walnut Creek.
