Douglas Meek officiating. Burial will be at Newmans Creek Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 6-8 at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home or one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church or Newmans Creek Cemetery Association. Surviving are his wife, Janet; sons, James G. Close of St. Charles, Mo. and Mark (Diane) Close of North Lawrence; three grandchildren, James M., Gregory Scot and Marissa Dawn and a brother, Gary Close of Canal Fulton.

WOOSTER -- Clara E. Cooper, 92, formerly of 539 Forest Creek Drive, died Saturday morning, Oct. 10, at Smithville-Western Care Center, where she had resided since 1991. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mount Eaton Cemetery in Mount Eaton with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home. Surviving are a sister, Beulah M. Barnes of Wooster and several nieces and nephews.

BREWSTER -- Robert M. Englis, 73, of Brewster, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 9, 1998, following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. Also surviving are two daughters, Dr. Catherine Butler Ward of Iowa and Barbara Englis of California; grandson, Jonathan Butler; stepson, Victor Hill of Killbuck; stepdaughter, Susan Hill of Texas and step-grandson, Alexander Hill.

Anna Forney
ORRVILLE -- Anna Elizabeth Forney, 81, was claimed by her Lord on October 8, 1998, following a brief battle with brain cancer. Her younger brother, John, lives in Dallas, Pa. Ann married Richard L. Forney on June 4, 1954 in the old Church of Christ. They have made their home at 328 Washington Blvd. in Orrville for many years. Ann had two daughters from a previous marriage: Billie Terrell Blosser of Erie, Pa. and Gail Ann Hawks of Miami, Fla. Ann is survived by her husband, Richard, her two daughters, and four grandchildren, Richard M. Blosser of California, Carrie T. Scheckelhoff of Ohio, Elizabeth M. Osorio of Florida and Abigail E. Blosser of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Kelsey and Robert Blosser of California, Sebastian Osorio of Florida and Ruby Scheckelhoff of Ohio. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 10, 1998 at the Orrville Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Ledford officiating. Burial took place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525A Back Orrville Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville handled arrangements.

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Clare W. Flickinger, 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Akron General Hospital. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown with the Rev. Dr. David Tennant officiating. There will be no calling hours. WALHONDING -- Norma Alice McCaleb, 90, of State Route 715, died Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with the Rev. John Russell officiating. Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw. WOOSTER -- Garcy A. Aten, 56, 3246 W. Old Lincoln Way, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. at his home. ORRVILLE -- Albert C. "Al" Struck, 89, formerly of 425 S. Main St., died Saturday evening, Oct. 10, at Lincoln Manor Health Care Center in Orrville. Memorial services will be at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Jordan officiating. Cremation has taken place. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Emil and Theodore Struck and a sister, Gertrude Hollis.

NAPLES, Fla. -- Wilbur Eckard, 84, of Naples Florida and formerly of Dalton, died Friday, Oct. 9. There will be private family services. DALTON -- Alyson K. Bates, 3 month old daughter of Donald and Kathi (Shad) Bates of Dalton, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Childrens Hospital Medical Center of Akron. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton with the Rev. Thomas Cebula officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Sylvia Simmons
FAIRBORN -- Sylvia (Beyler) Krites Simmons, 86, of Fairborn and formerly of Orrville, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 1998, at Collinswood Nursing Center in Fairborn. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville with Pastor Karen Oehl officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sylvia's memory to the United Methodist Church of Marshallville. Arrangements are being handled by Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main Street, Fairborn. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Don Haddox; grandsons, Jesse (Nicole) and Shan (Becky) Genetin; great-grandchildren, Shawna, Ryan, Marina and Alisha Genetin; a cousin, Anna Santschi; a nephew, Jim Beyler and dear friends, Carl and Cindy Smith.

Alvin Hershberger
SUGARCREEK -- Alvin A.F. Hershberger, 77, 2734 Township Road 164, died Thursday, Oct. 15, at his residence. Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Hershberger residence with Bishop Abe L. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Surviving in addition to his wife are six sons, Levi (Erma) Hershberger of Sugarcreek, Rudy (Dena) Hershberger of the home, Valentine (Sara) Hershberger, Henry (Malinda) Hershberger, Mahlon (Ada) Hershberger, all of Baltic, Jonas (Anna) Hershberger of Sugarcreek; three daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Wilson, Mrs. Roy (Edna) Burkholder, both of Sugarcreek, and Ella Hershberger of the home; 72 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elmina Yoder and Lizzie Miller, both of Sugarcreek.

MARSHALLVILLE -- Willard I. Steiner, 87, of Coal Bank Road, died Thursday, Oct. 15, at Apostolic Christian Home. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Rittman Apostolic Christian Church with burial in the Apostolic Cemetery. Surviving are his sons, Robert (Betty) Steiner of Marshallville, Carl (Carol) Steiner of Sterling, and Donald (Debbie) Steiner of Rittman; a brother, John Steiner of Marshallville; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

RITTMAN -- E. Ruth (Kincaid) Camp, 88, of 10680 Steiner Road died Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Apostolic Christian Home. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Eventide Cemetery in Spencer, W. Va. Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman. Surviving are a stepdaughter-in-law, Eva Baber of Gautier, Miss; daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Camp of Charleston, W. Va.; five grandchildren; a sister, Ruby (Henry) Swander of Wadsworth; and a half-sister, Oleta Fae Kincaid of Spencer, W. Va.

R. Riggs of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Naoma Funk
LODI -- Naoma F. Funk, 79, of Lodi, died Thursday, Oct. 15, at Akron General Medical Center. Surviving are her husband, Harold; a daughter, Kay (Don) Fisher of Wooster, and a son, Dr. Tom (Connie) Funk of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Matthew (Beth) Fisher, Donnette Fisher, and Jessica and Kirsten Funk; a sister, Jean Willis of Lodi, Calif. In abiding by her wishes, there will be no services held. Surviving in addition to her husband, are sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Brenda Stoner and Steve and Kim Stoner, all of Loudonville, Mike and Mary Stoner of Perrysville, and Kenny and Amy Stoner of Jeromesville; nine grandchildren; and her mother, Mary Culler of Loudonville.

Michael Atherton
LOUDONVILLE -- Michael Allen Atherton, 18, of 435 N. Water St., died Friday morning, Oct. 16, from injuries sustained in a single car accident on State Route 39 near Perrysville. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are his mother, Mary Atherton of Loudonville and his father, John Atherton of Mansfield; a brother, Matthew Atherton of Loudonville; a sister, Patricia Atherton of Loudonville; maternal grandparents, Guy and Sandy Christine of Perrysville; paternal grandparents, Kenneth Atherton of Fredericktown, and Patricia Koss of Tucson, Ariz.; maternal great-grandparents, Irene and John Davis of Loudonville; a paternal great-grandfather, Chester Porter of Loudonville; and one nephew.

MARSHALLVILLE -- Christopher Ronald Haughawout, 36, of Marshallville, died Saturday, October 17, 1998, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster 44691. He married Judy Meade on August 25, 1995. She survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by his mother, Caren Ankrom of Cuyahoga Falls; his father, Clifford Haughawout of Baytown, Texas; brothers, Craig Haughawout of Wadsworth, Clifford Haughawout of Colorado, Cletus Haughawout of Germany and Curtis Haughawout; a sister, Coleen Troyer of Wadsworth; his adopted mother, Edra Yoder of Orrville; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, and friends.
