Eva D. Bryson
TROUGH FORK - Eva D. Bryson, 79, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born July 29, 1920, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Johnson and Millie Byrd Brooks.
Mrs. Bryson was a homemaker and member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She lived most of her life in Wyoming County.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry H. Bailey; her second husband, James Bryson; an infant son, Clarence Bailey; a son, Harry Creeve Bailey; and a granddaughter, Malana Bailey.
Survivors include two sons, Danny R. Bailey of Trough Fork and Verne Bailey and his wife, Priscilla, of Ravencliff; three daughters, Jean Clark of Beckley, Bethel Toler and her husband, Carnell Toler of Shady Spring, and Judy Hornsby and her husband, Jimmy, of Joppa, Ala.; one brother, Vaughn Brooks of Hinton; 18 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dewayne Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Georgia June Huffman
MONTGOMERY - Georgia June Huffman, 84, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Fayette Continuous Care Center following a long illness.
Born Dec. 5, 1915, in Nicho-las County, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose Hawkins and Lillie Summers Hawkins.
Mrs. Huffman was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.O. Huffman, in November 1974; a daughter, Patty Darnell; and a son, Ken Philpott.
Survivors include one daughter, Colleen Crist of Oak Hill; one stepdaughter, Jeannie Dunlap of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, Richard Huffman of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Opal Dahlin of Twinsburg, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be noon Tuesday at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with the Rev. Freddie Parkins Sr. officiating.

Dora Mae Boone Moten
HINTON - Dora Mae Boone Moten, 95, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000, at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital in Fairlea.
Born March 25, 1905, she was the daughter of Andrew Robert and Madora Alice Gill Boone of Judson.
Mrs. Moten was married to the late Earl B. Moten, who passed away June 1, 1985. She had lived all of her married life in Hinton. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton.
In addition to her parents and husband of 58 years, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, Oscar Lee, Thomas Granvil, John Frances, Isac Allen, Freddy Cloah, Wilbur Ray, Beauford Andrew and Wilford Howard; four sisters, Maggie Jane Boone Brag, Amy Olive Boone Dodd, Gloria Fay Boone Pomeroy, and Erma Bell Boone Bailey; and two grandsons, James Earl Harris and Larry Joe Harris.
Survivors include one son, Earl Ray Moten and wife, Wanda, of Peterstown; a daughter, Alice Mae Moten Harris and husband, Hugh, of Alderson; two sisters, Wanie Cloe Boone Bowden of Cedar Grove and Hallie Pearl Boone McClung of Quinwood; one granddaughter, Sheila Ann Harris of Asbury; three grandsons, Garland Hugh Harris and wife, Sharon, Jerry Lee Harris and David Michael Harris and wife, Barbara, all of Alderson; eight great-grandchildren, Tracy Harris Allen and husband, Mike, of Alderson, Shawn Michael Harris and Larry James Harris, both of Charleston, Leslie Dawn Harris Reid and husband, Russell, of White Sulphur Springs, Laurel Hannah Alderson of Asbury, Caleb Michael Harris, Stacy Jo Harris and Holli Ann Harris, all of Alderson; four great-great-grandchildren, John Michael Allen and Ryan Lee Allen, both of Alderson, McGuire Reid and Noah Reid, both of White Sulphur Springs.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor D.D. Elwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Gwinn Cemetery, Alderson.

Phillip E. Neal Sr.
OCEANA - Phillip E. Neal Sr., 71, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, following an extended illness.
Born July 8, 1928, in Matewan, he was the son of the late Homer and Vada Huffman Neal.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Neal and James A. Neal; and a sister, Sue Crum.
Mr. Neal was a retired coal miner of 34 years, a former Oceana chief of police, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ethelene Hensley Neal; four daughters, Donna Thacker and her husband, Roger, of Milford, Ohio, Joyce Neal of Charleston, Norma Harless and her husband, Larry, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Debbie Cook and her husband, Larry, of Fairdale; one son, Phillip E. Neal Jr. and his wife, Mary, of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; one sister, Yvonne Mills of Circleville, Ohio; one brother, Jerry Neal of Hilltop; six grandchildren, Kristy Thacker, Lori Harless, Jessica and Jus-tin Neal, and Amy and Patrick Cook; and a host of loving relatives, friends and neighbors.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Evans Memorial Chapel with Pastors Jackie Grimmett and Randall Topping officiating. Entombment will follow in the Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Matheny.

Carlos C. Richmond
Carlos C. Richmond, 86, of Pluto, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the home of Noel Riffe of Daniels, from cancer.
Born Jan. 31, 1914, in Pluto, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ollie Mann Richmond.
Mr. Richmond was a retired farmer, a lifelong resident of Pluto, and the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers, Dean, Earl, Dorsey, Opie, Cody, Paul, Arlie, Ernest and Richard; and four sisters, Lottie, Hester, Lucille and Vella.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews, Freda Meador, Dr. Richard Richmond, Lyn-ville Meador, Louise Gates, Jerry Richmond, Mary Grace Richmond, James Preston Richmond, Mary Ellen Willi-ams, and Billy Plumley.
There will be a private burial today at the Meador Cemetery in Pluto.

Leslie O. Skaggs
Mr. Leslie O. Skaggs, 81, of Ansted, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1918, in Ansted, he was the son of the late William Oscar and Leota Cole Skaggs.
Mr. Skaggs was a retired tow motor operator from Vulcan Materials aluminum plant in Sandusky, Ohio. He was also a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, a member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church of Chimney Corner, a member of the Ansted VFW, and a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Skaggs, on June 21, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Randall Skaggs and his wife, Susan, of Woodbury, Ga., and their children, Travis and Gabrielle Skaggs; two sisters, Ella Skaggs of Charleston and Frances Fleshman of Ansted; and one brother, William R. Skaggs of Ansted.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel in Ansted with the Rev. Philip Dent officiating. Burial will follow in the Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ansted VFW and the Gauley Bridge VFW.

Richard R. Smith
Mr. Richard R. "Smitty" Smith, 73, of 355 Mankin Ave., Beckley, died Thursday, March 20, 2000, in Orlando, Fla., following an apparent heart attack.
Born Feb. 17, 1927, at Sullivan, he was the son of the late Hugh Percy and Lela Runyon Smith.
At various times during the past 50 years, Mr. Smith was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Methodist Men's group, served as a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, and had also served on various committees of the church. He was a former instructor at Beckley College, and had taught Red Cross classes in Raleigh County. He also aided in the establishment of the Lilly Family Reunion Association.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and also Morris Harvey College. He was a former part-time employee at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley.
Mr. Smith was a retired employee of Appalachian Power Co. (now AEP) with 38 years of service in the engineering department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII, and had been a Beckley resident most of his life.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel McGraw.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Juanita Workman Smith; a daughter, Pame-la Bengier and husband, John, of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kelly Bengier of Ocala, Fla., and John Patrick Bengier of Clemson, S.C.; two brothers, Melvin Smith and wife, Sue, of Beaver, and James Smith and wife, Janet, of Elyria, Ohio; two sisters, Myrtle Yates and husband, Robert, of Newport News, Va., and Virginia Pershern of Cleveland, Ohio.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Beckley with Dr. Gregory Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley and one hour before services at the church.

Cecil E. Tabor
Cecil E. Tabor, 77, of Beckley, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at the VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Sept. 26, 1922, at Bramwell, he was the son of the late Chester M. and Ana Tabor.
Cecil was a member of the Eccles Community Church, where he served as a Sunday school superintendent for several years.
He was a highly decorated World War II veteran, 32nd Infantry Division, and received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star for bravery, the Presidential Unit Citation, a South Pacific Campaign Medal with three Battle Stars and a Beach Head, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion.
After being discharged from the Army, Cecil married Edna Mae Patton May 20, 1950, and worked in Beckley as an auto mechanic. Later he worked at the Beckley Veterans Hospital as the food service supervisor, and retired there after 11 years of service.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester "Fuzz" Tabor, Stanley Tabor and Joseph Tabor.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Edna Mae Patton Tabor of Beckley; a son, Michael E. Tabor of Beckley; two grandsons, Daniel J. Tabor and wife, Cindy, of Beckley, and David J. Tabor of Charleston; three sisters, Mary James and husband, Bill, of Beckley, Ethel Beattie and Annalee Hofenbrdel, both of Eugene, Ore.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastors Merle Browse and Earl Lightfoot officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
The Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110 will conduct military graveside honors.
Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Zenith Marie Young
Zenith Marie Young, 96, of Beckley died April 19, 2000, of natural causes.
Born Dec. 3, 1903, at Stanaford, she was the daughter of the late John Logan Bratton and Bessie Kelly Bratton Carrow.
She was a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Young also served as state treasurer of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union for 12 years, and served as president of Stanaford WCTU.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Young; a brother, Kelly Bratton; and a sister, Beulah Bratton.
Survivors include two nephews, Kelly Bratton Jr. and Robert Bratton, both of Charleston; and a niece, JoAnn Bratton Fields of South Charleston.
Services will be 6 p.m. today at the Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip A. Lilly officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stanaford Cemetery.
Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. today at the church prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, Box 294, Stanaford, WV 25927.
