Mark A. Clifford
Mark Allen Clifford, 36, of Piney View, died Wednesday, Nov., 29, 2000, following a sudden illness.
Born Sept. 26, 1964, inBeckley, he was the son of Dorothy Clifford of Piney View and the late Orville Clifford.
Mr. Clifford was a cook for Hardees and a graduate of Mount Hope High School.
He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Quincy and Viola Treadway; his paternal grandfather, Luther Clifford; and a brother, Adam Wayne Clifford.
Other survivors include a brother, Daniel Clifford of Beckley; three sisters, Patricia Ramsey of Grayson County, Va., Denise Clifford of MacArthur, and Donna Yurkovich of Duck; paternal grandmother, Grace Clifford of Piney View; 10 nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edward Garten officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Bonnie J. Crouch
OAK HILL - Bonnie June Crouch, 57, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at her home of natural causes.
Born Jan. 10, 1943, in Bud, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Cecil and Tressie Pauline Lusk Quesenberry.
Mrs. Crouch was a medical transcriptionist for the New River Family Health Center. She was a cheerleading sponsor for the Herndon Packers Midget League Cheerleaders for eight years, and formerly a member of the Women's Bowling League, Oak Hill Hospital Team.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lanny R. Crouch Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Crouch Hall of Oak Hill; a son, Lanny R. "Beanie" Crouch of Mount Olive; three grandsons, Nicholas and Noah Hall and Levi David "Lanny" Crouch; three brothers, Ronnie Cecil Quesenberry of Bud, Jerry Dean Quesenberry of Mullens, and Larry Wayne Quesenberry of Gainesville, Fla.; and two sisters, Phyllis Ann Quesenberry of Alpoca, and Vickie Lou Quesenberry Gibson of Bristol, Tenn.
Committal services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with the Rev. William Skeldon officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Lavilla V. Curtis
Lavilla Violet Cox Curtis, 87, formerly of Skelton, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 1, 1913, in Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late John Lewis and Cora Martin Cox.
Ms. Curtis was a retired nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Curtis; two sisters, Edith Cox, Peggy Cox; two brothers, Aubrey and John Cox.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Cox of El Cajon, Calif., and Kenyon Cox of Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Beaulah Hudson of Philadelphia, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for family members.

Ivory F. Farley
Ivory F. Farley, 81, of Mabscott, died 1:37 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born March 25, 1919, in Ellison Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Jim Farley and Ada Bolen Farley.
Mrs. Farley was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, having been a former resident of Cool Ridge, Ghent and Beaver. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Douglas Farley; two brothers, Tom and Ezra Farley; and two sisters, Maude Farley and Vinnie Hatcher.
Survivors include three sons, Roy Eugene Farley and his wife, Cynthia, of Potomac, Md., James D. Farley of Charlotte, N.C., and Don Farley and his wife, Pat, of Angier, N.C.; three daughters, Loretta Farley Wood of Prince Frederick, Md., Jo Ann Williams and her husband, Roy, of Ruther Glen, Va., and Debra Cox and her husband, Roger, of Beckley; two brothers, Clifford Farley of Mount View and Ray Farley of Mabscott; and three sisters, Ora Brammer of North Carolina, Edna Farley of Mt. View, and Della Lively of Beckley; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Ruth E. Jarrell
Ruth Eunice Jarrell, 84, of Glen Daniel, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in Heartland of Beckley following a long illness.
Born Nov. 19, 1916, in Glen Daniel, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert E. Jarrell and Myrtle Calloway Jarrell.
Mrs. Jarrell was a member of the Dry Creek Presbyterian Church and was owner of a grocery store.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bud" Jarrell; and a nephew.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Carl G. Jarrell; a son, Rick Jarrell and his wife, Freda, of Glen Daniel; a grandson, Robby Jarrell and his wife, Gina, of Glen Daniel; a granddaughter, Robin Jarrell of Glen Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Luke Jarrell, both of Glen Daniel; and two nieces in Forida.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dry Creek Presbyterian Church with David Pettry CLP officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley.

Mary V. Kalinoski
Mary Virginia Jarrell Kalinoski, 68, of Dry Creek, died 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley following a long illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1932, at Dry Creek, she was the daughter of the late Perry Jarrell Jr. and Harriet Pettry Jarrell.
Mrs. Kalinoski was postmaster of Dry Creek Post Office with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Dry Creek Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Erna Riley and Eunice Long; and two brothers, Warren and Roscoe Jarrell.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Kalinoski of Dry Creek; a son, Daniel Kalinoski of Anchor Bay, Calif.; a daughter, Debroah Kalinoski of Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, Roy Jarrell and Carl Jarrell, both of Glen Daniel; four sisters, Stella Webb and Polly Harris, both of Arnett, Ethel Porter of Port Deposit, Md., and Betty Milam of Kopperston.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Funeral Home Chapel with David Pettry CLP officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Dry Creek.
Friends may call one hour before the serivces Saturday at the funeral home.

Lura C. McClung
HICO - Lura Cela McClung, 79, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at her home following a long illness.
Born Sept. 24, 1921, at Clifftop, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Della Hizer McClung.
Ms. McClung was a retired nurse and a long time member of the Lookout Baptist Church of Lookout.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice McClung and Freda Reeves; and three brothers, John William McClung, John Roy Jones and Edawrd "Hick" Jones.
Surviving members of Ms. McClung's family include a sister, Hope Day of Mocksville, N.C.; and three brothers, Eliot McClung of Medina, Ohio, Warren McClung of Fayetteville, and Oland McClung of Cleveland, Ohio.
Services will be noon Saturday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Pastor David Bennett and Pastor Elmer Day officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Boyd Mills
BASIN - Boyd Mills, 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in the Princeton Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 8, 1934, at Osborn's Ridge on Herndon Mountain, he was the son of the late Jim and Cherlotta Frances Bell Mills.
Mr. Mills was a lifelong resident of Basin and a disabled coal miner.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Mills, Michael E. Mills and Jeffery B. Mills, all of Ohio; a sister, Velma Morton of Athens; a brother, Dillard Mills of Basin; and six grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Lonnie C. Mullins Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in John Riley Shrewsbury Cemetery, Herndon.
There will be no visitation.

Donald W. Murray Sr.
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - Donald William Murray Sr., 74, prominent civic leader and community businessman, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following an extended battle with cancer.
Born May 1, 1926, in White Sulphur Springs, he was the son of the late Michael and Thelma Murray.
Mr. Murray was a lifelong resident of White Sulphur Springs. He was a greatly admired and beloved member of the local community for his many years of civic-mindedness, personal integrity, compassionate spirit, and widely known sense of humor.
Mr. Murray retired as Senior Vice-President of the Bank of White Sulphur Springs in 1992. Except for a four-year stint with Burlington Industries, he was employed at the bank from 1947-1992, spending over 41 years in the banking industry. Murray was a 1945 graduate of White Sulphur Springs High School and completed numerous hours of banking courses through the West Virginia Bank Association. He worked in every department of the bank, prior to moving to Senior Vice-President, during the last 20 years of his tenure. During his extensive banking career, Murray served as President of the Bank Administration Institute, Southwest Virginia Chapter and President of West Virginia Group III Bankers Association.
Mr. Murray was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, for more than 62 years, having joined the church at the age of 12. On Nov. 6, 2000, Mr. Murray was honored by the West Virginia Annual Church Conference of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in a proclamation electing him an Honorary Member of the Church Council for Life, in accord with paragraph 248.3 of The 1996 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church. Murray was recognized as having "...lived a life exemplary of the highest ideals of Christian discipleship...and a lifetime of Christian Service and example to all." The proclamation further identified Mr. Murray as "...a business leader in this community known for the highest ideals of fairness, morals, and ethics."
He served as president of the United Methodist Men, chairman of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee, and both member and chairman of the Finance Committee at the church. He was actively involved in many of the church's charitable functions and activities. Murray is the first known member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church to receive such an honor in the church's storied 113 year history.
Mr. Murray was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the United States Army under General George Patton's 3rd Army in the European Theater from 1944-45. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Beni Kedem Temple of Charleston, and the Allegheny Lodge No. 136 of White Sulphur Springs. He was elected to two terms as City Recorder for White Sulphur Springs during the 1980s.
He was devoted to and beloved by his family. His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Genevieve Elizabeth Hilton Murray of White Sulphur Springs; a son, Dr. Donald William Murray Jr. of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Elivia Lee Suttle of Lost Creek, and Lisa Nathalie Ward of Nicholasville, Ky.; three grandsons, Christopher Daniel Suttle of Phoenix, Ariz., Donald William Murray III of Plano, Texas, and Ryan Alexander Ward of Nicholasville, Ky.; a granddaughter, Reagan Rene Rutherford of College Station, Texas; a sister, Jo Ann Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Brent Sturm, O.S.I., officiating. Internment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, immediately following the service.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in sympathy and honor of Mr. Murray be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 25 Tressel St., White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986.

Jeanette O. Reed
SHADY VALLEY, Tenn. - Jeanette Osborne Reed, 76, of 950 Wallace Rd., formerly of Egeria, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Born May 7, 1924, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Sheets and Hess Osborne Sheets.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Shady Valley Baptist Church, and a native of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Reed; and two sons, Ray and Buford Reed.
Survivors include a son, Troy Enich Reed of Stephenson; eight daughters, Vannie Reed of Shady Valley, Tenn., Rachael Thompson of Chicago, Ill., Lottie Blanchard of Amigo, Lucy Frazier of Welch, Sally Meadows of Odd, Avis Lusk of Stephenson, Bonnie Parsons of Shady Valley, Tenn., and Genie Robertson of Egeria; four brothers, Jim Sheets and his wife, Julie, Jerry Sheets and his wife, Peggy, and Bob and Bill Sheets, all of North Carolina; 33 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews;
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in French Cemetery, Egeria.

James B. 'Jim' Stuart
LEWISBURG - James B. "Jim" Stuart, 95, died 10:17 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a short illness.
Born Sept. 17, 1905, at Maxwelton, he was the last J.W. and Lillie Smith Stuart.
Mr. Stuart was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Greenbrier Lodge No. 42 AF and AM, a member of The American Numismatic Association, a retired employee of The West Virginia Department of Highways with 25 years of service, member of the National AARP and Senior Citizens of Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Monroe Stuart; a brother, Robert Stuart; and a sister, Edna Legg.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline P. Stuart of Lewisburg; a daughter, Laura Jane Walls of Baltimore, Md.; a son, Bradford M. Stuart and wife, Jackie, of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, [cut off...]
