MOUNT HOPE - Laura Hannah, 71, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
Born March 4, 1932, at Dunloop, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Bessie Hannah.
Mrs. Hannah was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Glen Jean.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Warren Hankley; and a granddaughter, Miyako Tomasa Allen.
Survivors include three daughters, Dolly Champion of Mount Hope, Elizabeth Glover and husband, Michael, of Harvey and Eartha Davis Bradford and husband, Gerry, of Mount Hope; a brother, Frank Hannah and his wife, Michelle, of Indianapolis; a sister, Emma Jean Sanders and husband, Clarence, of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Glen Jean, with the Rev. Peter Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour before service Saturday at the church.

Exa 'Peggy' Kennedy Horrocks
ATHENS, Tenn. - Exa "Peggy" Kennedy Horrocks, 87, passed away Thursday evening, April 3, 2003, at her home near Athens.
She was born in Marion County, Ala., and had lived the past 43 years in the McMinn/Bradley County area.
She was the daughter of the late Mark and Georgann Kennedy.
Peggy had been a member of the Church of Christ since childhood, attended Madisonville Church of Christ in Madisonville, Tenn., and was a retired beautician.
Preceding her in death were her two brothers, Orville and Carvel; and a sister, Millie.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, A. Joseph "Joe" Horrocks, formerly of Lansing; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Service was 7:30 p.m. April 6 at Grissom Funeral Home, Cleveland, Tenn., with Minister Kirby Hinds officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside service was April 8 at Winston Memorial Cemetery, Haleyville, Ala., with Minister Kirby Hinds officiating and nephews serving as pallbearers. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. April 7 at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville.

Roe Dairell Kirby
Roe Dairell Kirby, 49, of Beckley, formerly of Rupert, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a sudden illness.
Born Oct. 22, 1953, in Rainelle, he was the son of William Roe Kirby of Rupert and the late Eva Dosier Kirby.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lana Caldwell Kirby; and a brother, Joe Kirby.
Mr. Kirby was a self-employed carpenter. He was a 1972 graduate of Greenbrier West High School, Charmco, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, William Roe Kirby and Norma Kirby of Rupert; a daughter, Alisse J. Kirby of Beckley; three brothers, David Kirby and wife, Bonnie, of Newark, Del., Emmett Kirby and wife, Tebbi, of Rupert and John Kirby and wife, Chris, of Georgetown, Ky.; three sisters, Drema Coulter and husband, Charles, of Milford, Del., Rebecca Canterbury and husband, Wayne, of Hines and Ruth Gordon and husband, Gary, of Charleston; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Youel Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Addition of Alderson Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rose Mary Lilly, 50, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2003, after a long battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 23, 1952, at Williamson, she was the daughter of the late Dewey McCoy and Ruth McCoy.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Moore of Columbus, Ohio, and Roberta Lanford of MacClenny, Fla.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, George E. Lilly Sr.; a son, George E. Lilly Jr. and wife, Lora, and their children, Ethan Hunter and Logan Samuel, all of White Oak; a daughter, Badonna Mae Stasium and husband, Joshua, and their soon-to-be son, Ayden Riley, of Sicklerville, N.J.; and brothers, Ray Closter McCoy of Columbus, Ohio, and John D. McCoy and his wife, Drema, Dewey Neal McCoy and Jerry McCoy, all of MacClenny, Fla.
Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Melvin Wills officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Steven K. Ritchie
CIRCLEVILE, Ohio - Steven K. Ritchie, 53, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Berger Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1949, at Oak Hill, the son of Kendall and Joyce Morton Ritchie.
Mr. Ritchie was employed by Roadway Express as a truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hickman Ritchie; two sons, Sean Ritchie and Brandon Stewart of Circleville; two daughters, Beth Ritchie and Jessica Woodrum of Circleville; a sister, Vicki Miller and her husband, Bob, of Oak Hill; and a brother, Timothy Ritchie of Oak Hill.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill.

Maycell Hume Rogers
Maycell Hume Rogers, 91, of Second Avenue, Beckley, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in Newport News, Va., following a short illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1911, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Winfield Scott and Daisy Lilly Rogers.
Miss Rogers was a lifelong resident of Beckley. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Concord College, and she did post-graduate work at West Virginia and Marshall universities. She held a degree in elementary education, and she taught throughout Raleigh County. She was a life member of the West Virginia Teachers Association and also a member of First Christian Church, Courthouse Square, Beckley.
A sister, Pearl Rogers Howell, preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1988.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include a nephew, William E. Howell and his wife, Dorothy, of Seaford, Va., their children, Woodrow Howell II and Patricia Ann Howell; and several cousins.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. James D. Lowe Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Beckley.

Epefania Madrangca Sulay
Epefania Madrangca Sulay, 85, of Beckley Avenue, Beckley, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born July 12, 1917, in Jimenez Misamis Occidental, Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Inocencio and Adriana Valle Madrangca.
Mrs. Sulay grew up in the Philippines as a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She moved to the U.S. in 1972, settling in San Francisco, where she was a member of St. Andrews Parish, Daly City, Calif. In 2000 she returned to the Philippines and moved to Beckley in 2002. Here she was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Her husband, Teodoro Yting Sulay, preceded her in death on April 27, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Wilfredo M. Sulay and his wife, Luzvita, and their children, Gifrey John and Fregilu, all of Daly City, and Capt. Antonio M. Sulay and wife, Rosario Sia, and their children, Raymond and his wife, Lisa, Stefan and his wife, Rina, Antonio Jr. and wife, Vanessa, and Kendrick and wife, Nina Ricci, all of Cebu, Philippines; two daughters, Catherine S. Malon and her husband, Vicente, and their children, Kathleen Marie and her husband, Michael Butcher, Vincent John and Christopher Theodore, all of Beckley, and Carmencita S. Dizon and her husband, Oscar, and their children, Mary Ann and Gregory, all of Roseville, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Stephen, Sarah and Ras; and her siblings, Pedro Madrangca, Hemesie Madrangca and Fsidro Apao, all of Jimenez Misamis Occidental.
Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, where a vigil prayer service and rosary was recited at 8 p.m.
Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Daly City. Rite of committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

BALLARD - Susan V. Tolliver, 64, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at her home following a long illness.
Born at Fall Rock, Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucinda Meadows Cox.
Mrs. Tolliver had lived most of her life in Delaware. She and her husband retired to Ballard in 1994. Mrs. Tolliver had worked many years as an inspector for the W.L. Gore and Associates, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkton, Md.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Teddy L. Tolliver; a son, Teddy L. Tolliver Jr. of Ohio; two daughters, Tammy Rutter of California and Nichole Tolliver of Delaware; a sister, Marie Merideth of Charleston; a brother, Dewey Cox of Rhodell; and four grandchildren, Tara and Evan Rutter, Holland and Teddy Cooper Tolliver.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery, Nimitz.
