Alvin ‘Shorty’ Bilby,

JERSEY SHORE — Alvin Leroy “Shorty” Bilby, 86, of Lot 30, Forsythe Trailer Park, Lock Haven, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 in Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born Nov. 19, 1914 in Charlton, he was the son of Oliver Bilby and the former Margaret Dullen.
His wife, the former Vernona Haight, preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1980.

Sterling ‘Dick’ Rossman,
earned black belt, was
focus of community campaign
CONROE, Texas — Sterling R. “Dick” Rossman Jr., 39, of 420 Wilson St., Jersey Shore, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 in the Conroe Regional Medical Center, Conroe, Texas.
His death came as a shock to his family and the local community, because the experimental cancer treatments he had been receiving at Buryznski Research Institute in Texas, appeared to be working. Nearly a thousand individuals, businesses, and organizations showed support for Mr. Rossman and his family by contributing toward the costs of his treatments.
Born March 13, 1961 in Flemington, he was the son of Sterling R. Rossman Sr. and the former Georganna Shade. He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
He and his wife, the former Julie A. Witt, were united in marriage Aug. 27, 1983. She survives.
Charles E. Peck,
avid outdoorsman
LOCK HAVEN — Charles E. Peck, 76, of Lock Haven, died Monday, March 5, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born March 9, 1924 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Charles Samuel and Blanche Driver Peck.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Peck worked in the security department of Hammermill Paper Co. for 45 years, and was also a self-employed farmer.
He was a former member of the VFW, American Legion and Sons of Italy. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Peck was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie J. Peck, in 1983; and by three sisters and a brother.

Harry F. Bower,

LOCK HAVEN — Harry F. Bower, 87, of Long Run Road, Mill Hall, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born July 5, 1913 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late William and Laura Mollenkoph Bower.
He was married to the former Mabel Kreidle in 1934. She preceded him in death in November of 1961.
He later married the former Mary E. Deibler in April of 1979. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1983.
Elizabeth E. Ingram,

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Elizabeth E. Ingram, 75, of 805 S. Moore St., Lakewood, Colo., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 in Lakewood, Colo. She had moved to the Denver area in 1969.
Born Dec. 13, 1925 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Blanche Lapp Yost.
Her former husband, Robert F. Ferree, survives in Mackeyville.

JERSEY SHORE — Mildred E. Spicher, 92, formerly of 1601 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 in ManorCare, Jersey Shore.
Born Nov. 29, 1908 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Cora Hebberling Yost. She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.
She was married to Harold T. “Spike” Spicher, who preceded her in death July 21, 1992.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.

SCOTT, Ohio — Lawrence Dean McCauley, 57, of Scott, Ohio, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in Scott, Ohio.
Born May 5, 1943 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Florence and Miles McCauley.
While living in Lock Haven, Mr. McCauley worked for Champion Parts Rebuilders. In Ohio, he worked as a truck driver.
Burial will be in Dunnstown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

LOCK HAVEN — John Lester Hursh, 86, of Pine Haven Apartments , Lock Haven, formerly of 439 W. Main St., Lock Haven, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the Lock Haven Hospital after being admitted the day before.
Born in Lock Haven Nov. 19, 1914, he was the son of the late George B. and Ollie VanAtta Hursh.
On July 18, 1953, he and the former Betty Dunne, who survives, were united in marriage.

SOUTH RENOVO — Frances D. Serafini, 86, of Renovo, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 in the Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo.
Born in Renovo Aug. 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Christine (Bruno) DeMarte.
She and her husband, Henry P. “Nitty” Serafini, who survives, were united in marriage at St. Joseph Church on Sept. 5, 1936.

She was married to Frank T. Blazina Jr. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1982.
