Bertha E. Newberry, 87, formerly of 252 Bennage Ave., Lock Haven, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. Funeral services will be held in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002, with the Rev. James VanZandt officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Jerry M. Peter Jr.
Jerry M. “Butch” Peter Jr. of Auburn, Cal. entered into rest on April 21, 2002 at the age of 35 years.
He was born in Lock Haven March 14, 1967.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 7 p.m. in the Blanchard Church of Christ, Blanchard. Interment has taken place in New Auburn District Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lassila Funeral Chapels, Auburn, Cal. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Blanchard Church of Christ.

Nelson J. Martz
Nelson J. Martz, 78, of Beech Creek, died at Susque-View Home Tuesday, April 23, 2002.
He was born in Northumberland on July 12, 1923, son of the late John N. and Laura C. (Wiest) Martz.
His wife, June (Chubb) Martz, whom he married on Sept. 26, 1959 in Berrysburg, survives.; Funeral services will be held in the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Troy Kerstetter officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes Fearon Cemetery in Beech Creek. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Her husband of 57 years, Albert F. Newberry Sr., died on Jan. 29, 1986.

Francis G. ‘Barney’ Severino
Francis G. “Barney” Severino, 78, of McElhattan, died after an extended illness on Monday, April 22, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born March 10, 1924 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Pietro and Philomenia Perri Severino.
He married the former Eileen M. Taylor, May 23, 1986. They celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary last year.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in St. Agnes Church, Lock Haven, with Father Neil Dadey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, Pa. 17701, or American Cancer Society, Clinton Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Thomas E. Yorks
Mr. Thomas E. Yorks, 73, of 122 Main Road, Jersey Shore, died Monday evening, April 22, 2002 in the Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
Born Feb. 19, 1929 in Oriole, he was the son of Joseph Yorks and the former Minnie M. “Dora” Confer.
He is survived by his wife, the former Isabel L. Mantle. They were united in marriage Sept. 21, 1951.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Oriole United Methodist Church. The Rev. Thomas C. Jones, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Oval Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oriole United Methodist Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, Pa. 17740.

Frank Sente
Frank Sente, 88, of Salona, died Monday, April 22, 2002 in Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
Born April 26, 1913 in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Stephen Sente and Anna Nochta Sente.
On Oct. 31, 1942, in San Diego, Calif., he married Lydia Furst Sente, who died Aug. 13, 2000.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m., in the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall, with the Rev. Kenneth Page officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Krislund Scholarship Fund of the Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745.

Phillip A. Fox Jr.
Mr. Phillip A. Fox Jr., 32, of Linden, died Saturday, April 20, 2002 in Geisinger Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born Oct., 31, 1969 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Phillip A. Fox Sr. and the former Patricia A. Burns.
His mother, of Linden, survives.
Funeral services will be tonight, Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 8 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 6 p.m. tonight until the time of services, in the funeral home. Rev. Jeffrey P. Howell will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Daryl W. Andrus
Daryl W. Andrus Sr., 54, of 415 Canal St., Flemington, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1947 in Lock Haven, he was the son of Ruth Clark Andrus of Lock Haven and the late Darhl L. Andrus.
He and his wife, Deborah J. Foringer Andrus, were married for 23 years, she survives.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. James VanZandt officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Esther Irvin
Mrs. Esther Irvin, 91, formerly of Lock Haven and Mifflinburg, died Sunday, April 21, 2002 in the Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
Born Sept. 8, 1910 in Portage, she was the daughter of James Metzler and the former Elizabeth Lloyd.
She was united in marriage Nov. 26, 1925 to Andrew J. Irvin. He preceded her in death April 28, 1977.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Brookside Wesleyan Church. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening and from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Robert King, her pastor, will officiate.
Arrangements are being made by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

William P. “Willie” Stout
William P. “Willie” Stout, 44, of 736 W. Third St., Lock Haven, died Sunday, April 21, 2002 in Washington, Pa.
Born Feb. 12, 1958 in Renovo, he was the son of Harry W. and Shirley Ann Gregory Stout, who survive in Mill Hall.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Dr. Edward L. Thigpen officiating. Friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Castanea Community United Methodist Church or the Lock Haven University Boxing Club.

Stout services moved
The funeral services for William P. “Willie” Stout, scheduled for Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m., have been moved from the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home to the Castanea Community United Methodist Church, East Brown Street, Castanea. Visitation will be at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.

Jerry M. ‘Butch’ Peter Jr.
Jerry M. “Butch” Peter Jr., 35, of 11625 Edgewood Road, Auburn, Calif., died April 21, 2002 in Napa, Calif., from a motor vehicle accident.
He was born in Lock Haven on March 14, 1967, the son of Betty L. Peter and the late Jerry M. Peter Sr.
His mother, survives.
Memorial services will be Sunday, April 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Blanchard Church of Christ.
The Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Flemington, is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Sente, 88, a resident of Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte, and formerly of Salona, died Monday, April 22, 2002.

Francis Severino, 78, died Monday, April 22, 2002 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Thomas Hutchison Carothers
Thomas Hutchison Carothers, 44, of Laramie, Wyo., died Sunday, April 21, 2002, while in hospice care at DuBois, Pa., following emergency surgery in Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Thomas was born Aug. 25, 1957 in DuBois, the son of Frederick and Ann Hutchison Carothers, both survive.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, R.R. Mill Hall. The Rev. Robert Siple will officiate. Friends will be received in the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, R.R. Mill Hall, following graveside services. Luncheon will be provided by the women of the church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, Pa., in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall.

Madeline Kelso
Madeline Kelso, 76, of 216 Thompson St., Jersey Shore, died Friday evening, April 19, 2002, at the home of her daughter Dorothy Cunningham in Avis. Her daughter Sallie E. Kelso had died just 10 days earlier.
Madeline was born in Williamsport, May 30, 1925, a daughter of Samuel Y. and Sarah Manley Adams, both deceased.
She was married to Glenn B. Kelso, who died June 11, 2000.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday April 22, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Jersey Shore, with her pastor, the Rev. Keith Rockwell, officiating. Interment will be at her family’s convenience at Greenlawn Memorial Park, R.R. 1 Montgomery. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, Pa. 17701. Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.

Herbert W. Ruch
Herbert W. Ruch, 98, of 126 Maple St., Jersey Shore, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 in Manor Care in Jersey Shore, where he had been a guest since March 23. He was formerly of Dover, Del.
Born April 21, 1903 in Scranton, he was the son of William and Olwen Reese Ruch. His first wife, Lois Griner, preceded him in death. He married his second wife, Harriet Morgan Ziegenfuss, April 20, 1983, she survives.
Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Funeral Home,” in Jersey Shore. A visitation will also be held at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, Del., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., with services on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Catherine E. Page
Catherine E. Page, 80, of 419 Fourth St., South Renovo, died Friday, April 20, 2002 in the Bucktail Medical Center in South Renovo.
Born Aug. 6, 1921 in Renovo, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Becher Cook.
She and Luther R. Page were married in Renovo on Aug. 11, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1988.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in Christian Community Church, South Renovo. Pastor Rusty Blessard, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Renovo. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Community Church, South Renovo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo.

Evelyn H. Stahl
Evelyn H. Stahl, 95, a resident of Sycamore Manor Nursing Home in Williamsport, died at the manor April 19, 2002.
Born in Williamsport Feb. 27, 1907 she was the daughter of John S. Hetherlin and Nellie Thibadeau Hetherlin.
Mrs. Stahl was married to Francis V. Stahl, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1981.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport. Officiating will be the Rev. Thomas Shoback, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel of Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport. The family suggests that an act of loving kindness may be made to North Central Sight Services, 901 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Justin Mark Lomax
Justin Mark Lomax, 19, of 35 North Pond Lane, Cogan Station, died April 14, 2002 in San Bernadino County, Calo., following an automobile accident.
Born Oct. 15, 1982 in Coudersport, he was the son of Mark J. and Linda K. Gavlock Lomax,both survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Neil R. Dadey as celebrant. Burial will follow in New Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy Township, Clinton COunty. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. A private prayer vigil service will be held Sunday.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Justin Lomax Memorial Fund, care of SUN Bank, P.O. Box 345, Montoursville, Pa. 17754.

Herbert W. Ruch
Herbert W. Ruch, 98, of 126 Maple St., Jersey Shore, died April 18, 2002 at Manor Care in Jersey Shore, where he was a guest since March 23.
He was the husband of Harriet Ziegenfuss Ruch, who survives. Funeral arrangements are by the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore.

May D. Wagner
May D. Wagner, 91, of Howard, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 in the Beverly Health Care Facility in Shippenville.
Born July 8, 1910 in Madera, she was the daughter of Calvin and Lillian Beneer Dreese.
She was married to Malcolm William “Bill” Wagner, who preceded her in death in April of 1993.
S Funeral services will be April 21 at 3 p.m. in the Howard United Church of Christ, East Main Street, Howard. The Rev. Dale L. Sattizahn will officiate. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Beatrice Ruth Green
Beatrice Ruth Green, 96, formerly of the Rich Manor, Woolrich, died April 18, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital, after having resided there since 1991.
Mrs. Green was born June 5, 1905 in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Susan Mayes Custred.
Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Albert L. Green, who died Feb. 13, 1971.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 21, 2002, at 1:30 p.m., in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be the Rev. Norman Evans from the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Woolrich Cemetery. Friends will be received in the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Woolrich church through the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home.

Stanley L. Rippey
Stanley L. Rippey, 75, of 11 Jones St., Lock Haven, died April 17, 2002, in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Aug. 15, 1926 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Helen Fox Rippey.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 20, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. Pastor Keith Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Free Methodist Church.

Marianne P. Barner
Marianne P. Barner, 73, of 79 Beagle Road, Mill Hall, died April 18, 2002, in Geisinger Medical Center.
Born Jan. 12, 1929 in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late William S. Peterson and Nellie A. Clark.
She married Allan B. Barner, who preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1985.
Private services will be Monday, April 22, 2002. There will be no visitation. Rev. Ellen Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County Hospice.

Barbara Mezack
Memorial services for Barbara Mezack, 65, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, of Lubbock, Texas, will be 5 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2002, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church with Father Grey officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
She was called home to her Lord on April 13, 2002 in Carbondale, Ill. She was born on Feb. 12, 1937 in Palmerton to the late Claire and Francis Myers. She married Michael Mezack III on Dec. 27, 1958 in Lock Haven, he survives.
The family received friends at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002. The family suggests memorials to the Barbara Mezack Scholarship Fund at American State Bank, P.O. Box 1401, Avenue Q, Lubbock, Texas 79408.
