Gordon Earl Confer, 76, of Howard, died Monday, March 4, 2002, in Centre Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Howard Township, the son of Michael Earl and Eva Leah Schenck Confer.
He was married to Anna Grace Pletcher on Jan. 30, 1949 in the Howard United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2000.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 8, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Howard United Methodist Church, Main Street, Howard. The Rev. David Trostle will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. There will be a Lions Club memorial service at 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Howard United Methodist Church, Main and Groves streets, Howard, Pa. 16841.

Milford W. ‘Skip’ Gardner
Milford W. “Skip” Gardner, 82, of Blanchard, died Monday, March 4, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
He was born Dec. 21, 1919 in Blanchard, the son of the late David and Alice Miller Gardner.
He was married to Marjorie Clair Yufer in May of 1950 in Jersey Shore. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1999.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. The Rev. Russel J. Moldovan will officiate. Burial will be in Baptist Cemetery, Blanchard. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Robert L. Honetor
Robert L. Honetor, 73, formerly of 9 McElhattan Ave., Castanea, died March 5, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit, where he had been a guest for the past 12 years.
He was born March 31, 1928 in Lock Haven, the son of the late George S. and Olive Bryerton Honetor.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, McElhattan. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Unit of the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall.

Janice H. Brown, 72, of Beech Creek, died March 4, 2002, in Lock Haven Hospital.
She was married to Charles H. Brown who survives.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Neff Funeral Home, Howard. Rev. Alan Eckenroad will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Kitchen
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Kitchen, 80, of 351 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born July 24, 1921 in Norfolk, Va., she was the daughter of Henry Cornette and the former Sara Josephine Norville.
She was united in marriage Sept. 1, 1939 to Harold B. Kitchen. He preceded her in death July 5, 1999.
Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, March 7, 2002, at 10 a.m., in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Rev. Gary Dewitt, her pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

Anna E. Wadsworth
Anna Elizabeth Wadsworth, 72, a resident of the Susque-View Home, formerly of Renovo, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Susque-View.
She was born May 5, 1929 in Renovo, the daughter of the late William and Anna Coffee MacGill.
She married Charles Raymond Wadsworth, who died in August of 1995.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Church, North Bend, with the Rev. Mahlon Nevel officiating. Private burial services for the family will be in North Bend Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Flemington.

Amos S. Kauffman
Amos S. Kauffman, 49, of 30 Meadow Lane, Loganton, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in his residence.
He was born Aug. 5, 1952 in Gordonville, a son of John A. and Annie Stoltzfus Kauffman of Loganton.
He was married to Anna Stoltzfoos Kauffman. She survives.
Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in the home of the late Amos S. Kauffman. Burial was in Esh Amish Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Loganton.

John L. Caprio
John L. Caprio, 50, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in White Deer Township, Union County, due to an automobile accident.
He was born Nov. 15, 1951 in Bellefonte, the son of Beulah Herr Caprio of Osceola Mills and the late Frank Caprio Sr.
He was married to Patricia Daniels. She survives.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. Pastor Byron Eisaman will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eugene L. ‘Gene’ Arnold
Eugene L. “Gene” Arnold, 69, of Renovo, died in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit on Saturday, March 3, 2002.
He was born in Renovo on Sept. 3, 1932, a son of the late Ward and Gladys Summerson Arnold.
Funeral services will be in Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor David Korman officiating. Burial will be in Summerson Cemetery at the family’s convenience. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are requested to the Kettle Creek Hose Company, Kettle Creek Ambulance Service or Hope Enterprises.

Theodore W. Rote
Theodore W. Rote, 69, of 119 E. Keller St., Castanea, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1933 in Lockport, the son of the late Robert K. Rote Sr. and Ellen E. Hockman Rote.
He married the former Mary Louise Mitcheltree on Aug. 8, 1953 in the Lock Haven Evangelical Church, who survives at home.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m., in the Dunnstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marie E. Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Linnwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home.

Edward Bomba, 85, of North Bend, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Bucktail Medical Center.
He was born in Nanticoke on Nov. 2, 1916, a son of the late Joseph and Michaeline (Kosciolek) Bomba.
Graveside services will be at St. Joseph Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. with Father Donald Boslett officiating. There will be no public calling hours.
Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., is in charge of arrangements.
The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Bucktail Medical Center or FAST.

Elizabeth I. Graden
Miss Elizabeth Irene Graden, 95, of St. Mark Village Nursing Center, Palm Harbor, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002. She was a former area resident.
Born July 24, 1907 in Salona, she was the daughter of Benjamin F. and Bessie A. (Young) Graden.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Richard A. Cohoon, retired officiating. The family will provide the flowers.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.

Steven D. Bierly
Steven D. Bierly, 52, of 426 Farmhouse Road, Downingtown, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002 of natural causes, after being suddenly stricken at home.
Born Aug. 22, 1949 in Lock Haven, he was the son Charlotte Stamm Bierly of Booneville and the late Richard E. Bierly.
He was married to Ann Sheasley Bierly on Sept. 4, 1982.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, in Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Main and Water streets, Loganton. The Rev. Eric Deibler will officiate. Burial will be St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Booneville. Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Booneville.

Lillian I. Nevins
Lillian I. Nevins, 95, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in the Bucktail Medical Center.
She was born April 1, 1906 in Hyner, a daughter of the late Norman and Bessie Rogers Bradney.
She and James G. Nevins were married in the rectory of St. Joseph’s Church by Rev. Gerald Deeghan, now deceased, cousin of Mr. Nevins. They observed their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 15, 1981. Mr. Nevins died on Dec. 31, 1994.
Private family funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.
Contributions may be made to Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo, Pa. 17764, in Lillian’s memory.

Ralph L. Barger
Ralph L. Barger, 73, of South Williamsport, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
His wife, Judith A. Tomko Barger, survives.
A Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, South Williamsport. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Shrine Cemetery, Bitumen, with military honors. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Sharon L. Brion
Mrs. Sharon Louise Brion, 53, of Mountain View Estates, Avis, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in the Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg.
Born Aug. 3, 1948 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of Richard C. Bonner and the former Margy Musheno.
She is survived by her husband, Terry L. Brion. They were united in marriage Aug. 19, 1967.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 10 a.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Christopher G. Milarch, her pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of Reed and Highland streets, Avis, Pa. 17721.

Irene B. Peterman
Irene B. Peterman, 100, formerly of Park Street, Avis, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Sycamore Manor, where she had resided the past four years.
Born April 16, 1901 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Warren and Maggie Ogden.
She was married to Thomas R. Peterman. He preceded her in death in 1970.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. The Rev. Donald H. Fornwalt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Avis Church of Christ, P.O. Box 481, Avis, Pa. 17721.

Billy A. Neff
Billy A. Neff, 88, of 2450 Eagle Valley Road, Mill Hall, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Dec. 22, 1913, in Mill Hall, he was a son of the late John A. and Fannie Jodun Neff.
He and his wife, the former Louise V. Gardner, were married July 2, 1941. She preceded him in death May 17, 1988.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Mill Hall, with the Rev. Donald Fornwalt officiating. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piper Aviation Museum in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall.

Walter W. Boone, 92, of Bellefonte, died Monday.
He was born Feb. 27, 1909 in Curtin Township, and married to Iva M. Young.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Neff Funeral Home, Howard. Rev. Doug Lichty will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.

Dorothy E. Williams Birney, 82, of Upper Providence, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Middletown.
Born in Monument, she was a daughter of the late Walter Scott and Helen Swartz Williams.
Services will be Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 1 p.m., in Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.

Anna M. Welker
Mrs. Anna M. Welker, 95, formerly of R.R. 1 Jersey Shore, died early Monday morning, Feb. 25, 2002, in the Fulmer’s Personal Care Home in Dunnstown.
Born May 20, 1906 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Orie Spotts and the former Joanna Markle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Welker, on Nov. 14, 1991. They were united in marriage on Feb. 9, 1925 in Lock Haven.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at 10 a.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Burial will be in Linnwood Cemetery in McElhattan. Rev. Donald Fornwalt will officiate.

B.W. Coltrane
Mr. B.W. Coltrane, 83, of 7175 Downs Field Road, Randleman, died Feb. 25, 2002, in Wesley Long Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1918 in Guilford County, N.C., the son of the late Lynsy Kyle Coltrane and Nate Farrington Coltrane.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, 1900 Vanstory St., Randleman.

Maryanna (Painter) Hill
Maryanna (Painter) Hill, 80, of 705c Ridgefield Circle, formerly of 25 Glenview Drive, Harvard, Conn., died Sunday, Feb. 24, at her residence.
Mrs. Hill was born in Jersey Shore, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Seibring) Painter, and lived in Harvard for 30 years, before moving to Clinton, Conn., nine years ago.
Her husband, Lt. Col. Glenn H. Hill, U.S. Army (retired), died in 1989.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Harvard Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard. There are no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, 1120 Connecticut Ave., Washington, D.C. 20036.
The T.J. Anderson and Son Funeral Home, 46 Washington St., Ayer, Conn., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bessie J. Waltz
Bessie J. Waltz, 81, of 322 Washington Ave., Jersey Shore, formerly of Lamar, died Feb. 23, 2002, at her residence.
Born Nov. 5, 1920 in Woolrich, she was the daughter of the late Reynolds and Esther Berry Miller.
She married Raymond R. Waltz on Jan. 24, 1941. He died May 26, 1978.
Funeral services will be Feb. 27, 2002, at 4 p.m., in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. Pastor Jenette Wertz, her pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Mill Hall. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Helen B. Drabic
Helen B. (Boyd) Drabic, 72, of Milford and formerly of Renovo, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at the home of her son in Newton, N.J.
She was born Oct. 17, 1929 in Renovo, a daughter of the late Robert and Helen Friel Boyd.
She was married to Thomas E. Drabic, who preceded her in death in 1973.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, with Father Donald Boslett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo.

Edna Ruth Warner
Edna Ruth Warner, 91, died Feb. 23, 2002 in ManorCare in Jersey Shore.
She was born Jan. 9, 1911 in Jersey Shore, the daughter of Edward and Mae Buss Sechrist.
Her husband, George H. Warner, died in 1975.
Funeral service and interment will be at the family’s convenience. Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, is in charge of the arrangements.

Emory C. Rarick
Emory C. Rarick, 88, of 846 E. Winter Road, Loganton, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born in Zion Grove on Oct. 8, 1913, he was the son of the late Cora Singley Rarick and Edwin C. Rarick.
He was married to Winona B. Rarick, now deceased.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Main and Water streets, Loganton, with the Rev. Anke Deibler officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rosecrans. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
