Lester B. Heller
Lester B. Heller, 94, of 95 Rag Valley Road, Mill Hall, died Saturday, July 16, 2001, in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1906 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late William E. and Fannie A. Blain Heller.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Heller, and his second wife, Lena Phillips Heller, who died in 1996.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, at 11 a.m., in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. Pastor Joseph Lair will officiate. Burial will in Linnwood Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mackeyville United Methodist Church.

Miriam A. Brungard, 79, of R.R. 1 Millmont, formerly of Sugar Valley, who died July 10, 2001 in Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.
Orville W. Peck Jr.
Orville W. Peck Jr., 50, of Lock Haven, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1950 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Orville W. Peck Sr. and Betty Walker Peck.
He was married to Rita Summerson in 1971. She resides in Howard.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, 2001, at 10 a.m., in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. The Rev. Jack Archer will officiate. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Marion Township. Military services will be held at the graveside. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Miriam Spotts Yost
Miriam Spotts Yost, 84, formerly of 67 N. Jones St., Lock Haven, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Susque-View Home, where she had been a resident for the past three months.
She was born in Lock Haven, June 27, 1917, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Leora Hartsock Spotts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest A. Yost, who died June 15, 1985.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 20, 2001, at 11 a.m., in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Theodore L. Cockley of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Williamsport. Interment
will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Dunnstable Township. Friends will be received in the funeral home Friday morning one hour prior to services.

Bernice M. (Osborn) Glossner, 91, of Lock Haven, died peacefully in her sleep at Twin Maples Personal Care Home, Jersey Shore, on Monday, July 16, 2001.
Born Dec. 27, 1909 in Farrandsville, she was the only child of the late William and Mary Kane Osborn.
A Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. Celebrant will be Rev. Daniel O’Neill. Committal will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home, Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., with a Vigil of the Deceased at 8 p.m.

Born Aug. 18, 1904 in Sandy Ridge, he was the son of the late Margaret Cartwright Lynn.
He was married to Edna V. Irvin Cartwright, who died on March 29, 1994.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. July 21, 2001 in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall. The Rev. Donald H. Fornwalt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Bald Eagle Township. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

John C. Thompson, 74, of Melbourne, Fla., died Sunday, July 15, 2001.
He was born Jan. 7, 1927 in Jersey Shore, a son of Annie L. (Kissel) Thompson and Clair D. Thompson. His mother survives.
He was married to Ruth H. Thompson. She survives.
A daughter, Sheree Thompson, preceded him in death.
Services will be private and are being arranged by the South Brevard Funeral Home, Melbourne, Fla.
Rodger Allen Wertz
Rodger Allen Wertz, 67, of Renovo died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Bucktail Medical Center.
Born Feb. 24, 1934 in West Renovo, he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Lucy A. (Fantaski) Wertz.
He married Lavina E. (Royer) Matala on June 30, 1979 in the First United Methodist Church in Renovo.
She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at a place and time to be announced later. Arrangements are under the direction of Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo.
Charles A. Saltsman Sr.
Charles A. Saltsman Sr., 91, of Ponda Street, Renovo, died Monday, July 16, 2001 at Bucktail Medical Center.
He was born June 28, 1910 in Renovo, a son of the late Anthony W. and Maude Hulsinger Saltsman.
He married the former Letha Saxton, his first wife, April 1930. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1966. He then married the former Marjorie Y. Baines June 1971. She preceded him in death April 21, 1999.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 19 at 1 p.m. at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, with the Rev. John Godissart officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Deward W. (Skeeter) Englert Jr., 66, of HCR 80 Lock Haven, died early Sunday morning, July 15, 2001 in ManorCare Health Center, Jersey Shore.
Born Sept. 28, 1934 in Lock Haven, he was the son of Deward W. Englert Sr. and the former Elsie McGill.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary E. Gallo. They were united in marriage Sept. 30, 1956 in Aiken, S.C.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 7 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Willimina J. (Toots) Nicholas, 96, of Susque-View Home, Lock Haven, where she had resided since 1997, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the home.
She formerly resided at 837 W. Third St., and Carter Towers in Lock Haven.
She was born in Williamsport, April 4, 1905, and was the daughter of the late William and Fannie Blain Heller.
She was married to Raymond E. Nicholas who died in November of 1968.
Funeral services for Willimina J. (Toots) Nicholas will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

Betty M. Brickley, 79, of Kephart Plaza, Lock Haven, formerly of Charlton, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Jersey Shore, a daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Nichols Marden. She was a 1939 graduate of Jersey Shore High School.
She married James Edwin Brickley on April 28, 1944. He died in April of 1997.
Family services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2001 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Interment
will be at the family’s convenience in Rest Haven Memorial Park. There will be no visitation.

Mary Mae Sipes, 82, of Snow Shoe, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 in Centre Community Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Anna Winslow.

Lynn L. Sorgen
Lynn L. Sorgen, 70, of 1032 Plunketts Run Road, Mill Hall, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 in the Lock Haven Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born May 29, 1931 in Lock Haven, a son of the late Allie and Kathryn Henninger Sorgen. He was a 1949 graduate of the Lock Haven High School.
He and his wife, M. Gladys Hull Sorgen, were married Nov. 8, 1950 in Mill Hall. She survives at home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, with Rev. James B. Redmon, his pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mill Hall. Visitation will be Sunday in the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1921 in West Buffalo Township, a daughter of the late Richard E. Aikey and Margaret Wirth.
She married the late Lynn H. Brungard in Sept. 17, 1960. He died Nov. 29, 1990.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home in Loganton with the Rev. Anke Deibler of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2001 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment
will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Booneville.

Born May 4, 1908 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Alva and Bessie Lachat Seybold.

Born March 30, 1938 in Williamsport, he was the son of Gladys Emert Van Horn of Loganton and the late Howard Van Horn.
He and his wife, Katherine I. Rhine Van Horn, were married in 1962, she survives.

William Grant Weaver
William Grant Weaver, 56, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Eagleville, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at the Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg.
Born April 18, 1945 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Jacob “Bud” Weaver and Esther Weaver DeHaas. He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1963.
His former wife, Ann Whiteleather Wagner, survives in Lock Haven.
A companion with whom he resided, Connie Miller of Blanchard, survives.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14 at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, with Rev. Karl Steele officiating. Interment

Thomas L. Seyler, 52, of Cambridge, Mass., died Sunday evening in Cambridge Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1948 in Lock Haven, he was the son of Robert L. Seyler of Mill Hall and the late Mrytle Seyler.
He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1967 and officer training school in 1970.
He was married to the late Marion Seyler in 1974 in the Salvation Army Citadel, New York.
He served as a Salvation Army officer for 14 years in the New England states, from 1970 to 1984.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment
will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the cancer society.

Dorthea J. Overdorf, 98, of R.R. 1 Lock Haven, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in her home.
Born Nov. 12, 1902 in McElhattan, she was raised by maternal grandparents Leonard and Laura Johnson of McElhattan, and was the daughter of Robert Wilson and the former Carrie Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Overdorf, on May 2, 1971. They were united in marriage in 1920.

Janet Marie (Traugott) Davis, 79, of Heartland Personal Care Home, 201 E. Water St., formerly of Church Street, died today, in the home. She had been in failing health. She had entered Heartland in March.
She was born in Abington on Sept. 19, 1921, and was the daughter of the late J. Mortimer and Sara Clothier Traugott. She attended Drexel University for two years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick S. Davis, who died Sept. 27, 1998.
Private services and burial in the Dunnstown Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ross Library through the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, Lock Haven.
Ruth Hoberman
Ruth Hoberman, 82, formerly of Kane, died July 7, 2001, after a long illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1918 in Kane, she was the daughter of the late David and Miriam Beinschevitz Kanovsky.
She was married to Ellis for 53 years. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Services were held at Beth Yehuda Cemetery on July 8, 2001. Helt Hanna Kline Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gardner S. Barner
Gardner S. (Gabe) Barner, 88, of R.R. 1 Jersey Shore, died Monday, July 9, 2001, in ManorCare Health Services, Jersey Shore, after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1912 in Antes Fort, he was the son of the late Gardner O. and Eva Schuman Barner.
He was married to the former Bernice C. Shields on April 3, 1941. They had celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
Funeral services will be Thursday at the church, 1515 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, at 10:30 a.m. His sons, Rev. John and Robert Barner, assisted by his pastor, the Rev. Edgar Manns, will officiate. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
