SARA BRINSON ANDREWS
Sara B. Andrews passed away Saturday, November 27, 1999, in Pensacola.
Born Sara Allene Brinson, March 8, 1921, in Burke County, Ga. She lived for many years in Augusta, Ga., and Atlanta, Ga., where she retired from Traveler's Insurance Company in 1980. She later moved to Pensacola to live with her son and to be closer to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John D. Andrews, Sr.; sisters, Mrs. Ruby Holland, Mrs. Vonnie Hinton, and Mrs. Nellie Bunn.
Survivors include sons, John D. Andrews, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Wayne Andrews and wife Rhonda, and Donald Andrews, all of Pensacola; daughter, Barbara Neal and husband, Bay of Islamorada; grandchildren, Rachel and Grayson Andrews of Pensacola; sister, Helen Leach of Peachtree City, Ga.
Minister Chris Seidman will officiate memorial services at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 1999.

JOSEPHINE WYNDER CARROLL
Josephine Wynder Carroll, 89, of Pensacola, died Saturday, November 27, 1999 at Baptist Hospital following a recent illness.
Mrs. Carroll was the daughter of the late Willie Bacchuss Wynder and Marion Wynder. She was born October 19, 1910 in Pensacola, Florida. A retired teacher from the State of Florida for 43 years, she was a member of Jordan Street SDA Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mariah (Rene) Pollard; brother, Edwin Leo (Ed) Wynder; and nephew, Joseph Wynder.
Survivors include her husband, R.C. (Skip) Carroll of Pensacola; daughter, Dana Fai Carroll-Gamel of Pensacola; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Fields of Washington, D.C., Isaac Fields of Pensacola, and Joshua Fields of Pensacola; three sisters, Violet H. Gumren of Pensacola, Dorothy W. Anderson of Pensacola, and Gladys E. Wynder of Pensacola; three sisters-in-law, Mary Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Sarah Pearl Barnes of Los Angeles, CA, and Henry Marie Alleyman of Corpus Christi, TX; a host of nieces; nephews; grand-nieces; grand-nephews; friends; and church families.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Jordan Street Seventh-day Adventist with Pastor C.J. McMillian officiating.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Carrie Bell Gibbs, 58, of Pensacola, died Friday, November 26, 1999 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Gibbs was born July 9, 1941 in Camden, AL. She moved to Pensacola in 1959 and resided her until her demise. She was a member of Grace and Truth Prayer Temple, where she served on the Mission Board.
Survivors include three sons, Wilfred Young (Sandra) of Birmingham, AL, CMSGT Bruce Gibbs of Lima, Peru, Rev. L.V. Gibbs (YuVonne) of Pensacola; four daughters, Rosalyn Felton (Dwayne), Petula Aldridge (Alvin), Tracy Autrey, and Ciceley Gibbs, all of Pensacola; two brothers, Rev. Horace Young (Carrie) of Mobile, AL, Charles Young of Birmingham, AL; four sisters, Mary Ross of Birmingham, AL, Betty Miniard of Nashville, TN, Sarah McCord and Hazel Venice (James), both of Pensacola; special sister-in-law, Jessie Sturdivant of Pensacola; 20 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 1999 at New Birth Baptist Church with Rev. L.V. Gibbs, Pastor of Grace and Truth Prayer Temple, officiating.

WILLIE FRANK HEADRICK
Willie Frank Headrick, 70, of Pensacola, died Saturday, November 26, 1999 at a local nursing home.
Mr. Headrick was a native of Chambers County, Ala. and had been a resident of Pensacola for the past 20 years. He was of the baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank C. Headrick.
He is survived by: his wife, Jean Headrick; four daughters, Jamie Tomlinson, Scharley McCart, Elaine Smith and Donna Smith; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy. with Rev. Carl Sanders, officiating.
Interment
will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service.

Mary Magdalene R. McKinney, age 91, of Southport, FL, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at her home.
She has been a resident of the area for 12 years, coming from Pace, FL. Mrs. McKinney was a member of First Baptist Church of Southport and a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pace, FL. Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse James McKinney.
She was survived by her daughter, Frances M. Bailey and her husband, Wayne of Deland, FL; sisters, Audrey Hughes of Vernon, FL and Bea Deal and her husband, J.H., Jr. of Southport, FL; brother, William W. Russell of Bay Minnette, AL; grandchildren, Kimberly Roberts and her husband, Robert, of Moselle, MS, Sherrille Akin and her husband, Dain, of Westerville, OH, James P. Bailey and his wife, Kimberly, of Deland, FL, and Terrell W. Bailey, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Sellersburg, IN; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and loved ones.

JOHN PHILLIP RIEHM
John Phillip Riehm, 64, of Pensacola, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at home following a short illness.
Dr. Riehm was born at Fergus, Ontario, Canada to Henry Philip and Almeda Benedict Riehm. He received a B.S.A. from the Ontario Agricultural College of the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Michigan State University. He was a member of the faculty of UWF since 1970. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and ARC Escambia. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John, Jr.; and daughter, Elizabeth.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Pensacola; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and James Tarwater of Franklin, TN; son, William of New Orleans, LA; brother and wife, Paul and Marguerite Riehm of Canada; step-sister and husband, Barbara and Charles Bennett of Canada; step- brother and wife, James and Val Smith of Canada; cousin and wife, Ralph and Katherine Benedict of Canada; grandchildren, Eliza, Jerry and Martha Rose Tarwater of Franklin, TN; and nieces and nephews, Laura Riehm, Michael Riehm, Michelle Bennett and James Bennett, all of Canada.

Chester D. Tickle, 66, of Pensacola, died November 27, 1999 at a local hospital following a lengthly illness.
He was a long time resident of Pensacola, FL. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an Army Veteran and a retired Restaurant Manager.

Walter C. Balkom, 73, of Pensacola, went to be with His Lord on November 29, 1999.
Walter was a member and deacon of Liberty Church. He retired from Monsanto on December 1, 1982. Mr. Balkom was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Julia Balkom, and a brother, Wendell P. Balkom.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pauline; a son, Gerald Alan (Susan) Balkom; four granddaughters, Patricia (Nick) Young, April Balkom, Mary Ellen Balkom and Julia Balkom; three great grandchildren, Crystalyn Balkom, Cyrus Alan Balkom and Haleigh Young; three nieces, Margo (Dennis) Welter, Shari (Derrick) Ladner and Lydia Balkom.

Henry Thomas "Tom" Crowder, 79, of Pensacola, passed away Monday, November 29, 1999 at a local hospital.
Mr. Crowder was a native of Tennessee and served proudly with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and Korea. He retired after 45 years service from the Bell System. He was a member of Al Chymia and Hadji Shrine organizations, Telephone Pioneers and Olive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriette Sue.
Survivors include his wife, Lil Crowder; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas B. and Carol Crowder; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Bourne; daughter-in-law, Carol H. Crowder; three grandchildren and many friends.

Clarice E. Gordon, 78 of Pensacola died Monday, November 29, 1999.
Mrs Gordon was a native of Baker FL and had been a resident of Pensacola for over 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Hemphill; son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Leesa Gordon; a sister, Hazel Watson; and four grandchildren, Trevor Gordon, Julia Gordon, Claire Hemphill and Allison Hemphill.

Byron Jennings Lane, 79, of Pensacola, died Monday, November 29, 1999.
Mr. Lane was born in Dothan, AL and had resided in Pensacola since 1946. He retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co., and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Lane served his country in the Army Air Corps. for four years, during WWII. Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his son, Roger Byron Lane.
He is survived by two sisters, Vivian Thomas of Columbus, GA, Mary Ann Stockwell of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Wilburn and Kenneth Lane, both of Dothan, AL, and Bolen Lane of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Ruby Holiday of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 1999 at the Barrancas National Cemetery with Rev. Allen Newton officiating.

Deborah McCargish, 34, of Pensacola, died Sunday, November 28, 1999.
Deborah was a member of the Church of Christ at Scenic Hills.
She is survived by her husband, George McCargish, and her three children, Nicole, Steven and Phillip. Deborah also leaves her father and step-mother, Tyrelle and Shirley Sacra of Texas; three brothers, Ronald Wells of Texas, Darrell Sacra of Virginia, and Duane Sacra of Nevada; and one sister, Connie Griggs of Ohio.

JAMES MACK "JIM" McCASKILL
James Mack McCaskill, Sr., 78 years old, died Monday afternoon, November 29, 1999 after a lengthy illness. Jim was a life- long resident of Jay, Florida.
He enjoyed farming his family's estate for most of his life, but in his later career, he served as foreman for the District III Santa Rosa County Road Department, retiring in 1989. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he enjoyed memorable and pleasurable times fishing and hunting with old friends and relatives. He loved the river, woods, and swamps of Santa Rosa and Escambia counties. He was a descendant of some of the first settlers of Santa Rosa County.
Mr. McCaskill served in the U.S. Army during the latter part of WWII. He was a member of VFW, American Legion Post #121, and an honorary member of the Williams' Lake Hunting Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-four years, Mary Nell Bowman McCaskill; his father and mother, Benjamin Montgomery McCaskill, Sr., and Marie Auvil McCaskill; his two brothers, Montgomery McCaskill and Harry McCaskill; two grandsons, Rhett McCaskill and Blake McCaskill; and many special friends.
Survivors include his six children, James "Jimmy" Mack McCaskill, Jr., and his wife, Letha, Cynthia Youngblood, Rosemary Caraway, and her husband, Keith, Larry McCaskill, Gary McCaskill and his wife, Teresa, all of Jay, and Jeffery McCaskill of Pensacola; nine grandchildren, Jay Youngblood, Jessica McCaskill, Mark LeFlore, Megan Youngblood, Lindsey McCaskill, Scott Caraway, and Karissa, Haden, and Holden McCaskill; and one great-grandchild, Alexus Janae; a twin brother, Jack McCaskill of Molino; two sisters, Mary Morris of Pensacola and Joy Kemble of Milton; and a brother, Van McCaskill of Pace; and many nieces and nephews.

JoANNE VERNA "MRS. RAGS" RAGGHIANTI
JoAnne Verna "Mrs. Rags" Ragghianti, 65, of Pensacola, died Saturday, November 28, 1999 at her home in Pensacola following an extensively tiring battle with cancer.
Mrs. Ragghianti was born in Penn Yan, New York, the oldest of three children of Kenneth DeForest and Evelyn Mary Rapalee. She was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from September 1952 to February 1956 as a Navy Yeoman. in 1957, she entered Federal Civil Service specializing in Educational Services and Test Control for the U.S. Navy. She was the Educational Services Officer of PERSUPDET Corry Station, Pensacola, FL in July of 1988, when she retired after 26 1/2 years of combined Military and Civilian Service.
Since her retirement, she has been actively dedicated to WIMSA, (Women in Military Service for America) and Waves National. She was extremely instrumental in the origination and dedication of the SEA SERVICE WOMEN memorial stone at Barrancas National Cemetery, and equally as involved in the WIMSA monument and museum in Arlington National Cemetery, the Navy Museum in Great Lakes, II, and the LONE SAILOR monument in Washington, D.C. In 1991, she was elected as the President of Waves National Unit #52. Her tireless sense of commitment and duty lead her through election as the Florida State Director of Waves National, the Waves National Regional Representative of Region 12, and appointment to the National Board of the Executive Board of Waves National. She was currently the President of Waves Unit #52 and the Deputy for Veterans Affairs.
She was a member of the U.S.S. Hancock CVA-19 Association, Fleet Reserve Branch 22, American Legion Post 240, Warrington Elkettes No. 2108, AMVETS Post 292, The Honor Society of Women Legionnaires, DAV Chapter 23, Daughters of the Nile, Shimron Temple No. 133, Eastern Star, a Charter member of WIMSA, and her measuring tool for her struggle with cancer, an active bowler with the Corry Fun Seekers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank "Rags" Ragghianti, Sr.
Survivors include her son, Charles Frank "Butch" Ragghianti, Jr.; daughters, Barbara Annette Ragghianti and Deborah Lynne Ragghianti; mother, Evelyn Mary Baker; brother, Kenneth Gary Rapalee; sister, Karen Jean Maldonado; step-brother, Ronal N. Baker; nephews, Eric L. Maldonado, Paul and Steven Rapalee; niece, Michelle Rapalee; great niece, Kathryn Ann Maldonado; watchful and loving pets, Muffin and Beaux; and a multitude of friends and Navy family.

BETTY PRINZ RUBIN
Betty Prinz Rubin, 84, died November 28, 1999 after a brief illness.
Betty was born May 5, 1915 in Duluth, Minnesota and lived most of her life in Ft. Worth, Texas with her first husband, Francis Prinz until his death in 1984. In 1986, she married Dr. Nathan Samuel Rubin and moved to Pensacola, Florida. After Dr. Rubin's death, Betty spent her last years in Pensacola, thankful that for the years of happiness she had in later life with Dr. Rubin.
Betty is survived by her son, Richard Prinz; granddaughter, Linda Prinz; and grandson, Joseph Gabriel, all of Houston, Texas; and her granddaughter, Elka Gilmore, who she treated as her daughter, of San Francisco, California.
There will be a memorial service for Betty at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, December 6, 1999 at 9:30 a.m.

Fred Everett Sollie, 81, of Pensacola, died Sunday, November 28, 1999.
Fred was born June 29, 1918 in Myrtlewood, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Sollie, three brothers and one sister.
Fred enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939. He served in World War II aboard various ships. He was on board the USS Schley during the Pearl Harbor attack. He retired after 22 years of distinguished service as a Chief Petty Officer, A.D.C. He then went on to serve 20 years of Civil Service at NAS Pensacola.
Fred was an active member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, serving as the Secretary at the time of his death and as president in the past. He was the owner of Cindy Jane Music Company and was a songwriter and producer. He was a member of Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church.
Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebie Margaret Sollie; one son, Fred Everett Sollie, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, Orlando, FL; three daughters, Iris Plowman and husband, Bruce, Kewanna, Indiana, Betty Turnipseek and husband, Tom, Pensacola, and Cindy Mayes and husband, Frank, New Orleans, Louisiana; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 1999 at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce Sheffield officiating.
Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
