Sadie Margaret Bumgarner of

2004 in Noble. Funeral services will be
held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at
the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church in Norman, Oklahoma with
Reverend Dick House officiating.
Interment
will follow at the I.O.O.F.
Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Bumgarner was born November 3, 1914 in Lindale,
Texas to Fonzo Robert and Hettie Eunice Edwards Covington. At the
age of four, Sadie traveled to Wister, Oklahoma from Texas,
accompanying her father in a covered wagon. Later she moved with
her family to the Goldsby area and graduated from Washington High
School. She attended The University of Oklahoma and received a
B.S. in education. She married John Lee Bumgarner, Jr. on February
15, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Bumgarner was a third grade teacher in Texas and
Oklahoma for over 30 years. She began teaching in Norman in 1956
at Adams Elementary and retired from Cleveland Elementary. She
was a longtime member of the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church and had been active in the visitation ministry. She was a
member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle and the Norman
Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Bumgarner was preceded in death by her husband, John
in 2003; parents; one sister, Avis Wimpy; and two brothers, Bill and
Barney Covington. Survivors include daughters, Linda Lippe and
husband, Dennis of Austin, Texas, Mary June Joseph and husband
Joe of Satellite Beach, Florida; sisters, Nettie Brockhaus and
husband, James of Noble, Oklahoma, Corrine Luther of Midland,
Texas, and Lorene Harris of St. George, Utah; brothers, Burl
Covington and wife, Doris of Whittier, California and Bryan
Covington and wife, Luding of Redwood City, California; and four
grandsons, Aaron John, Tyler Joseph, and Calvin James Lippe, and
Joseph J. Joseph, III. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers of Sadie and John. You have been a true blessing to us and
will always be a part of our family.
Ramona Ruth Keen Edwards
Ramona Ruth Keen Edwards, 74, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 13,
2004. Memorial Services will be held at
11:00 A.M., Monday, May 17, 2004, at
First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma,
with Chaplain Harry Smith officiating.
Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
Oklahoma.
Mrs. Edwards was born August 4, 1929, in Ramona, Oklahoma, to Paul D. and
Elsie L. (Ware) Keen. She married John
Philip (Phil) Edwards on June 25, 1950, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, at the
Linden Street Christian Church. They lived in Oklahoma City for
two years before moving to McAlester, Oklahoma. They moved to
Norman in 1955. Mrs. Edwards was 11-7 night supervisor at
Norman Regional Hospital for thirty-eight years before retiring in
March 1993. She was known to her colleagues as "Eddie". She was
a member of District 16 of the Oklahoma Nurses Association. Mrs.
Edwards was an active member of the First Baptist Church in
Norman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed
sewing and crafts.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents and
husband. Survivors include brother, John Edward Keen and wife, Jo,
of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sisters, Shirley Ann Phillips of Sallisaw,
Oklahoma and Janet Lee Brown of Dewar, Oklahoma; three sons,
John P. Edwards Jr. and wife, Teri, of North Richland Hills, TX; Don
R. Edwards and wife, Pam, of Matthews, N.C.; and Dave L. Edwards
and wife, Melissa, of Norman, OK; eight grandchildren: Heather
Saylor and husband, Chris, Justin and Chase Edwards of Matthews,
North Carolina; Matthew Edwards and wife, Toni of Tulsa,
Oklahoma; Brian and Phillip Edwards of North Richland Hills,
Texas; Josh Edwards and wife, Lindsay of Fort Worth, Texas; and
Erin Paige Edwards of Norman, Oklahoma; and two greatgrandchildren,
Luke Saylor & Madeline Edwards.

Kelly Raymond Horn
Kelly Raymond Horn, 27, of Wichita
Falls, Texas, and former resident of
Norman, Oklahoma died in an
automobile accident on I-40 near Clines
Corners, New Mexico on May 4th, 2004.
His father, Gary Raymond Horn of
Norman, Oklahoma was a casualty in
that accident as well.
Kelly, the son of Gary Raymond Horn
and Ee Choo Whay (Annie) Horn, was
born May 20th, 1976 in Singapore, Singapore. He graduated from
Norman High School in 1994 and attended the University of
Oklahoma before joining the United States Air Force. He married
Jennifer Olena Parker on October 24th, 1997, in Norman,
Oklahoma. Their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in
the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 24th, 2001. They have two
beautiful daughters, Dominique Raylin Parker and Breanna Helen
Horn. As a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Kelly
served for nine years in the United States, Japan and England. He
had temporary duty in Turkey, Germany, France, Italy and the
United States. He was involved in Enduring Freedom, Operation
Northern Watch, and the Kosovo Campaign. Most recently he was
an avionics instructor for the F-15 air superiority fighter at
Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. On April 23rd,
2004, he received the degree of Associate in Applied Science
Avionic Systems Technology from the Community College of the
Air Force.
Staff Sergeant Kelly Raymond Horn is survived by his wife and
sweetheart Jennifer, their children Dominique and Breanna, his
loving mother Annie Horn, and brothers Kriston Lee Horn,
Kennan Darin Horn, and Kevin Alan Horn. He is also survived by
eight brothers- and sisters-in-law, twelve nieces and nephews, and
his mother- and father-in-law, Jeanene Parker and Gregory A.
Parker. As a devoted husband, father, son and friend he will be
missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 10th, 2004, at
11:00AM at the Norman Oklahoma Stake Center of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1506 West Imhoff Road,
Norman, Oklahoma. Interment
will follow the services at the
Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 2301 East Indian Hills Road.
Family visitation will be held Sunday, May 9th, 2004 from 6:00-
8:00PM at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook,

Helen Rivers Murphy
Helen Rivers Murphy, 88, of Norman, Oklahoma, died
Friday, May 7. 2004, in Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will
be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Noble I.O.O.F.
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral
Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Murphy was born April 9, 1916 in Purcell, Oklahoma,
to J.E. and Alma (Collins) Jackson. She grew up in the Purcell area
and attended schools in the Johnson community in McClain County,
Oklahoma. Helen married Harve Murphy on January 5, 1932 in
Purcell. They lived around the Purcell and Washington, Oklahoma
area most of her life. She returned to Norman from the McClain
county area in 1978.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Murphy of Washington, OK and
James Howard Murphy and wife, Floy of Norman, OK; two
daughters, Loretta Ketner and husband, Carl of Norman, OK and
Eulene Melton and husband, Dalton of Perry, Oklahoma; sister, Ma
Jo Noblett of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Frank Jackson of Purcell,
OK thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
FRANCES LANGSTON RADFORD
Frances Langston Radford, 99, died at ManorCare Nursing
Home on May 9, 2004 after a brief illness. Graveside services
and burial will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at
the Radford family plot in Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee with
Reverend Dick Virtue officiating. Services are under the direction
of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Radford was born on October 27, 1904, in Shawnee,
Oklahoma, to Sidney J. Langston and Alice Jeannette Witt
Langston. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1922 and
in 1923 was married to Ernest Emmett Radford, founder and
president of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of
Shawnee. Upon their marriage they moved to Oklahoma City,
where Mr. Radford transferred his business interests. The
Radford’s had two children, Doris Jeanne Radford (Morris), and
John Hinton Morris.
Mrs. Radford and her children moved to Norman in 1949,
following Mr. Radford’s death in 1948. From 1950 until her
retirement, in 1965, Mrs. Radford was employed by the University
of Oklahoma and from 1953 was Assistant to the Dean of the
College of Business Administration. In 1964, the Alpha of
Oklahoma Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business
society, unanimously voted to recognize her contributions to the
College of Business Administration by awarding her the
unprecedented honor of membership in the society.
Preceding Mrs. Radford in death, besides her parents and
her husband, was her son, John Hinton Radford and her daughter,
Doris Jeanne Radford (Morris). Frances is survived by her two
grandchildren, David John Morris and his wife, Charlene, both of
Norman, Oklahoma; and Frances Joanna Morris and her daughter,
Faith Jumei Radford Morris, of Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Radford was a member of First Presbyterian Church in
the years when Dr. Kenneth Feaver was minister there, and her
grandson was baptized in that church. She was a lifelong liberal
Democrat, intensely interested in the political life of the nation, and
was a great admirer of President and Mrs. Bill Clinton. She was an
avid reader and an amateur painter. In the earlier years of her
retirement she cultivated an extensive rose garden, featuring early
and rare species of roses.
Thelma Iola (Balch) Simpson
Thelma Iola (Balch) Simpson, 95, died
Tuesday, May 18, in Norman. Services will
be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at
Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, with
grandson, Reverend Eric Snyder and First
Baptist Church Senior Adult minister Vickie
Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Restland
Cemetery in Boswell, Oklahoma. Honorary
pall bearers will be Dr. Christian Sieck,
Mark Hollingshead, and Tom Bishop, all of
Norman, who took such good care of her for
so many years.
Mrs. Simpson was born February 19,
1909, in Soper, Oklahoma, to Alexander Benson and Carrye
(Hartgraves) Balch. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Soper (OK) High
School, where she was salutatorian of her senior class and played on
the basketball team. She received an award for the past several years
as the oldest graduate attending the reunion of her highschool. She
also graduated from Southeastern State (Teacher's) College and
attended the University of Oklahoma. She did student teaching at the
University of Oklahoma Laboratory School. Mrs. Simpson had a
varied work history. She taught school at Nelson in Southeastern
Oklahoma. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base during WWII as a
radio repairman on B17 airplanes. She was secretary and bookkeeper
for Buster Simpson Plumbing in Norman. She worked at the Norman
Transcript Press for many years and retired from there. Mrs. Simpson
was one of the first members of Trinity Baptist (then mission) Church
of Norman and a long time member of First Baptist Church of
Norman. She was one of the last surviving members of the Deborah
Sunday School Class.
She was a lifelong tither--in her later years giving her money directly
to someone who needed it rather than through her church. She was
active in her church choirs. In her later years she was a member of the
Fellowship Singers Senior Adult Choir at First Baptist until she was
no longer able to participate.
Mrs. Simpson traveled extensively with her husband and
daughter in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Hong
Kong, Mexico, Iran, and Canada. Mrs. Simpson was an avid sports
fan, attending all of the University of Oklahoma Football games
(including bowl games) as long as she was physically able. She kept
up (via TV and The Norman Transcript) with basketball, baseball,
and football on the collegiate and professional level--especially the
University of Oklahoma, Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Eastern Star of Norman. Family
was always very important to Mrs. Simpson. She enjoyed visits from
her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a talent
and love for music, which she passed on to family members.
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Buster Simpson; brother, Alexander Benson Balch, Junior; sisters,
Mary Ellen Balch Markham and husband, Wyman; Doris Balch
Patrick and husband, Pat; Anita Balch Atkinson and husband, W.A.
Atkinson, Junior; brother-in-law, Harold Hawkins; and greatgranddaughter,
Sarah Protiva. She is survived by sister, Gladys Balch
Hawkins of Hartford, Connecticut; sister-in-law, Ann Welchert
Balch, of Norman; son, Bernon Ben Simpson, of Moore; daughters,
Nita Simpson Bill, of Santa Paula, California, Dallas, Texas, and
Norman; Ina Simpson Snyder, of Norman; son-in-law Les Snyder, of
Norman; and cousin Annis Robinson, of Soper, Oklahoma. She is also survived by
grandchildren, Burl Simpson, of Norman; Jacque Simpson Protiva
and husband, Jim, of Texarkana, Texas; Bruce Simpson, of Phoenix,
Arizona; Sergeant First Class Berry Simpson and wife, Gina, of Fort
Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas; Lester Sherman Snyder II and
wife, Tanda, of Norman; Sean Simpson Snyder and wife, Sherri Jo,
of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Reverend Eric Todd Snyder and wife,
LeAnna, of Ft. Scott, Kansas; and Craig Fitzgerald Snyder, of
Norman. In addition, she is survived by great-grandchildren, Bryan
Simpson and wife Amy of Oklahoma City; Jonathan Protiva and Amy
Protiva, of Texarkana, Texas; Amanda Lairson and Levi Lairson, of Norman; Cody and
Ashley Simpson, of San Antonio; Alex Hixson, of Norman; Jeremiah
William Snyder, of Norman; Mary Jo Snyder, of Ardmore; Jackson
Tyler Snyder and Abigail Renee', of Fort Scott, Kansas. Mrs.
Simpson will also be missed by numerous other family members and
friends from throughout the United States.

Theron G. Simpson, Jr., 66, of
Norman, Oklahoma died early Thursday
morning May 6th, 2004 peacefully at home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M.,

Theron was the only child born to T.G. "Coot" Simpson and
Willie Simpson and moved to Norman in 1959. Prior to his move he
served in the army and married his wife of 45yrs, Glenda Simpson.
Mr. Simpson attended East Central University and Oklahoma State
Univ. After college, he spent 15 years working at OG&E before
joining his father in Coot Simpson Construction Co. Inc. And
Simpson Properties, Inc. His hobbies included FISHING, hunting,
traveling, spending time with friends and FISHING!
Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his father, T.G..
Survivors include his mother, Willie; wife, Glenda; and their two
sons, Travis T. Simpson and wife, Petra, of Colorado Springs, CO
and Terry D. Simpson and wife, Beth of Studio City, California. He
has four fantastic grandchildren, Tanner, Matthew, Raelyn of
Colorado and Alene of California and sister-in-law Geneva Black of
Ada.

Johnnie was born September 13, 1939, in Carnegie,
Oklahoma to John and Fyrn (Duran) Bachlor. She grew up in
Northern New Mexico and moved to Norman in 1954. She
attended schools in New Mexico, Norman and Oklahoma City. She
was retired from the IBEW Seventh District.
Johnnie was a loving and devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and sister. She was a member Alameda Church of
Christ and the Nareme Chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed
reading, cross stitch, O.U. basketball and most of all, spending
time with her family.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors
include her husband, Loyd, of the home, one daughter, Terri Lynn
Fowler and husband, Michael, of Norman; one step-son, Craig Cox
and wife, Robin of Shreveport, LA; two step-daughters, Kimberly
Sparks of Halton City, TX and Kelly Womack and husband, Sam
of Boonsville, TX; brother, Ted Bachlor of San Francisco, CA;
sister, Sue Dollar of Norman; two grandsons, Jonathan Fowler of
Norman, and Ryan Gage and wife, Amber of Naples, FL; stepgrandson,
Jackson Cox; and three step-granddaughters, Cydnee

Tommie Robert Marple, 73, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, May

Mr. Marple was born December 6,
1930 in Headrick, Oklahoma, to Treavor M. Marple and Covie Katy
Lou (Williams) Marple. He grew up in Headrick and attended
schools there. He joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the
Korean War. He later joined the U.S. Navy Reserves where he served
for sixteen years. Tommie married Mary Janell Crandall in 1951 in
Lawton, Oklahoma. They moved to Norman in 1960 from Oklahoma
City. He worked for many years as an iron worker and was a member
of Iron Workers Union #48. Tommie attended the Southside
Holiness Church. He enjoyed a number of hobbies including fishing,
hunting and gardening.
Mr. Marple was preceded in death by his parents, Treavor &
Covie Marple; wife, Mary and sister, Neva Hall. Survivors include
son, Robert Dean Marple and wife, Kathy of Norman, daughter,
Doris Ann Marple of Norman; two sisters, Eveline Rhine of
Enterprise, Alabama and Dude Sholedice of Lawton, OK; and two
grandchildren, Stephanie and Ashley Marple; and many nieces and
nephews.
Gertrude T. Irving
Gertrude T. Irving, age 86, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed
away Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Holiday Heights Care Center in
Norman. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 18,
2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reggie Dowdy,
pastor, Northside Church of God, officiating.. Interment

Gertrude was born on December 29, 1917 to Amberson CCourier
and Geneva May Thurman. She grew up in the Norman area and
attended school at Robinson School, Northeast of Norman. She
married Pat Irving on May 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on July
20, 1991. Gertrude was a bookkeeper and checker at McCall’s and
Greenleaf Grocery Stores for over eighteen years. Gertrude was a
volunteer for many years at Central Mid-High in Norman. She
attended Northside Church of God and enjoyed her friends and the
outdoors. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two
brothers, Darcey & A.C. Thurman; and a sister Minnie Foreman.
Gertrude is survived by a sister-in-law, Opal Thurman of Norman and
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathryn Sue (Howard) May
Kathryn Sue May, 45, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral Services

2004 at Wildwood Community Church with
Reverend Bruce Hess officiating. Services

Mrs. May was born March 6, 1959 in
San Antonio, Texas, to Thomas Ewing Howard and Norma Doris
(Whetstone) Howard. She married Larry May on June 20, 2002.
God’s light radiated from Kathy to all who came into contact with
her. Her greatest wish was for that light to continue to shine and
reflect in the lives of those she loved so much.
Mrs. May was preceded in death by grandparents, Paul
Whetstone, and Carl and Dora Howard. Survivors include her
husband, Larry May of the home; her parents, Thomas and Norma of
Norman ; son, Jacob Zuker of Norman; four daughters, Jennifer
Cochell and husband, Chad of Norman; Casey May of Miami, OK;
Stacey May of Midwest City, OK and Amy Crossfield of New York
City, NY; two brothers, Tim Howard and wife, Jackie, of Tracy,
California and Thomas Howard and wife, Julie of Alexander,
Virginia.

Robert Stephen (Steve) Sharp
Steve Sharp, 52, of Noble,
Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at
home. Memorial Services will be held at
10:00 A.M., Monday, May 24, 2004 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Richard Burris officiating.

Steve was born September 22, 1951
in Madison, Wisconsin, to Ottis and Marie
(Willeford) Sharp. After moving to
Norman in 1960, he attended Norman
Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1970. He
then attended Rose State College, Abilene Christian University and
the University of Oklahoma. In 1980, Steve purchased Wells
Cleaners in Purcell, Oklahoma and operated it as Sharp’s Cleaners for
twenty years.
Steve loved sharing his home with friends and family and had
a special love for Yellowstone National Park visiting it many times
during his lifetime. He attended St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eva and
Harry Johnson. Survivors include his parents, Ottis and Marie Sharp;
son, Bryan Stephen Davis of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Allison
Marie Sharp and Katherine Frances Sharp, both of Norman; one
brother, David Sharp and wife, Brinda, of Norman, Oklahoma and
close friend, David Blair of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma.

Jerry Otis Smith, age 67, of Norman,
Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, May 15,
2004 at Norman Regional Hospital. Funeral
service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday,
May 19, 2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home
Chapel, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman
with Rev. Joe Grizzle, officiating. Interment
will follow at Lexington Cemetery in
Lexington, Oklahoma. Services are under
the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home
of Norman, Oklahoma.
Jerry was born January 28, 1937 in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, to John Ott and Ethel (Thompkins) Smith. He was raised
in the Corbett - Spring Hill area east of Lexington until the age of ten,
when he moved to Norman. Jerry married Georgia Franklin on
August 28, 1972 and had thirty-two years together. The lived in the
Lexington area for twenty-five years before moving back to Norman
seven years ago. Jerry worked at the Gilt Edge Dairy before
becoming a plumber and a contractor. He owned and operated S &
J Mechanical in Norman for twenty-eight years. He was a member
of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 344 for over thirty-five years.
Jerry was a member of the Moose Lodge in Norman for thirty-seven
years. He enjoyed fishing and was a huge O.U. football and
basketball fan.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers,
Raymond, Edward and his twin, Jean; and two sisters, Gladys
Straughan and Marjorie Hewitt. Survivors include by his wife,
Georgia of the home; three sons, Terry Smith and wife, Linda of
Norman, Ronnie Smith and wife, Lisa of Lexington, and Michael
Franklin and wife, Cindy of Norman; daughter, Gayla of Portland,
Oregon; three grandchildren, Aerial, Saige and Jace; two sisters,
Wanda Odom and husband, Jack, of Sulphur, and Madella O’Neal
and husband, Jesse, of Norman and brother, Jimmie Joe Smith and
wife, Rosalee of Oklahoma City; many nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends.
Marjorie Katherine Broughton
Marjorie K. Broughton, 86, of Norman, died
Thursday, April 29th, at Norman Regional
Hospital. A Memorial Mass will be held at
St. Thomas More Catholic Church on
Wednesday, May 5th at 10 A.M. with the
Rev. Bill H. Pruett officiating. Family will
receive friends at an evening visitation on
Tuesday, May 4th, from 6 - 8 P.M. at
Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Mrs. Broughton was born September 20,
1917, in Rockford, Illinois, to Joseph and
Rose (Rossi) Scandroli. She graduated from Central High School in
Rockford and worked for many years as a medical assistant for Dr.
Rankin, an OB/GYN Physician. She lived and worked in Rockford
for many years raising and enjoying her family. Marjorie moved to
Norman in the 1970’s to be near her daughters and grand children and
managed "The Potpourri" and "The Big Red Shops" on Campus
Corner for several years. She was a volunteer at the Fred Jones Art
Museum and the Norman Regional Hospital Auxiliary. At the
hospital, she made baby hats for the nursery with her signature being
a tiny pink rosebud on the hats for girls and a blue bow on the hats for
the boys. She was also an active supporter of the Mary Abbott
Children’s House.
Marjorie was a talented artist and spent years painting for family and
friends providing wonderful memories on canvas and holiday
ornaments. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great
Grandmother. She was loved by her family and friends and will be
greatly missed.
Mrs. Broughton was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, and
two sisters, Katherine and Alice.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Kemmet Greenleaf and
husband Lea of Norman and Barbara Broughton Monat and husband
Phil, of New York City, Grandson, Rob Kemmet and wife Lori, of
Norman, Granddaughter, Jennifer Kemmet Jordan and husband
David, of Houston, Texas. Great Grand Children, Kate, Bo, and Meg
Kemmet of Norman.

Mrs. Clark was born August 18,
1915 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to
Homer Livingston and Bess Ellen (Southern) Lindsay. They moved
to Tulsa in 1929. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in
1933. She married Leroy Veale in Tulsa on August 5, 1933. She and
her husband, Pete Clark whom she married in 1942 lived in Pryor,
Oklahoma for almost twenty years where they owned the Dodge
Dealership. In 1965 she moved to Tulsa where she worked as a
cashier for St. John’s Hospital for fifteen years and received the
Outstanding Employee Award in 1981. She was a volunteer with the
St. John’s Auxilary for many years. In 1997 she moved to Norman
and lived at Rivermont until September 2003. She enjoyed playing
bridge, dominoes and other games. Evelyn was a member of the First
Christian Church in Tulsa and in Norman.
Mrs Clark was preceded in death by her parents and two
sisters, Martha Belle McEuen and Helen Williams. Survivors include
her daughter, Martha Jane Fullerton of Norman, OK; two
grandchildren, John Arnold and wife, Stacy of Norman and Kathy
Piland and husband, Mike of Oklahoma City; and six greatgrandchildren,
Chris and Ally Arnold, Matthew and Audrey Piland,
and Carly and Katelyn Hodges
The family is grateful to Hospice of Oklahoma County for
their kindness and care and the excellent care provided by Jeanette
Bell and Veda James.

Fred was born October 14, 1928, in Lookeba, Oklahoma, to
Lloyd Edgar and Lula Hal (Walling) Hildebrand. He married
Dorothy R. Charles on April 4, 1953 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. They
moved to Norman in 1984 from Newcastle. Fred was retired from
General Motors and was a very proud Korean War veteran. He
enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Rest easy now for you are in
the comfort of God’s loving arms.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clay
and Claude; sister, Oneta Horn; and grandson, Justin D. Rawson.
Loved and survived by his wife, Dorothy, of fifty-one years; two
daughters, Cindy Woods and husband, Eldon of Oklahoma City, OK
and Brenda Jo Rawson and husband, Jonas of El Centro, CA; son,
Gary Ray Hildebrand and wife, Vickie, of Tuttle, OK; sister, Oweeda
Smith and husband, Ray, of Oklahoma City, OK; seven beautiful
granddaughters, Trisha, Stephanie, Brittan, Josie, Summer, Chelsea
and Taylor; and an extensive number of other relatives and friends
already missing him.

Billie was born in Norman, Oklahoma on November 4, 1928
to Otho and Lola (Smith) Seawright. She grew up in Norman and
graduated from Norman High School. Billie married William "Bill"
Leffler on November 19, 1951 in Norman. Together, they lived and
raised their son in Norman. Billie worked as a bookkeeper for the
Norman Transcript and for several auto dealership in Norman. She
was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed
supporting her son and grandsons in their various sporting events.
Billie was an avid University of Oklahoma sports fan. She was a
loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Lola
Seawright and a sister, Peggy Jo Setzer. She is survived by her
husband William "Bill" Leffler of the home; son, Greg Leffler and his
wife Cerry of Norman; two grandchildren, Kyle and Jacob Leffler and
many nieces and nephews.

Stan was born January 22, 1940 in Oklahoma City to Lena
and Robert McCourry. He was a graduate of Norman High School
and the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Norman
High band and the Pride of Oklahoma marching band. Stan
married Martha Walton on January 26, 1963 in Norman, OK. He
was employed for 20 years as Assistant Chief of Engineering of
the Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals and almost 10 years as Plant
Engineer for the Natural Water Bottling Company in Norman. He
served in the community as Cub master, District Pinewood Derby
chairman, Scoutmaster and Explorer Postmaster. He enjoyed
hobbies of golfing, hunting, fishing, snow and water skiing and
making golf clubs. He was active at Berry Road Baptist Church,
Norman. He served as chairman of the Deacons and at one time
served as a Sunday School teacher.
He is preceded in death by son, Stanley Jr.; father, Robert;
and brother Robert Jr. Stan is survived by his wife Martha of the
home; mother, Lena; three children and their spouses Stanton and
wife Nancy of Norman, John and wife Dawn of Round Rock,
Texas, Melanie Thacker and husband Jon of Twenty-Nine Palms,
California; and seven grandchildren.

71, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away

Maggie was born on July 12, 1932 in Silo, Oklahoma to
Emmons and Earline (Schultz) Barton. She graduated from Calera
High School in 1948. She worked as a homemaker, then operator for
Southwestern Bell until she retired in 1985. After retirement, she
moved to Durant, Oklahoma and worked for the public school system
as an aide in the special education department. Eventually, she
moved to Denison, Texas to be close to her daughter Sheryl, then she
moved to Norman to share time with her youngest daughter, Pam.
Maggie’s greatest pleasure in life was her children, grandchildren,
family and pets. She always loved them unconditionally. Maggie
enjoyed a good laugh and was known for the gleam in her eye and her
keen sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmons and
Earline Barton, five of her siblings and a grandson, Tim.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Bowen and her
husband Randell, of Denison, Texas; Pam Boeck and her husband
Dave of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Richard Melson and his wife Amy
of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Melson, Daniel
Harper, Nathan Hursh, Katy Knight and Sam Boeck; three great
grandchildren, Corbin, Taylor and Kylie; a brother, Buddy and a
sister, Lola, and her "special, blue-eyed daughter," Carla. A heartfelt
thanks goes out to the staff at Manor Care Nursing Home and to
Mission Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Special Olympics.

THOMAS D. LEDGERWOOD, II,
AGE 56, of Norman, Oklahoma, beloved
son of the late Tom and Jacquelyn
Ledgerwood, passed away at 7:07am on
Wednesday, April 7 from Nemoline Rod
Myopathy, a rare form of muscular
dystrophy. Grave side Services will be held
at 10:00 AM, Saturday at Wetumka City
Cemetery Wetumka, Oklahoma with
Reverend David Spain officiating. Family
visitation will be Friday evening April 9th
2004 from 6-8pm. at Havenbrook Funeral
Home.
A native of Norman, T-II graduated from the College of Business at
the University of Oklahoma and the O.U. School of Law. He served
briefly as a reservist during the Vietnam era and then established his
private law practice in Norman. During his 1990 campaign for
Governor, he garnered the most votes ever recorded for an
independent candidate in this state. He was a dedicated Norman
resident and a member of the Cleveland County and Oklahoma Bar
Associations. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in
Norman.
To his friends and family, T-II was the pinnacle of charity, love and
devotion. He was a kind and grateful spirit who befriended his family,
his colleagues, and scores of those less fortunate than he. Our world
is a better place for all those whose lives that were touched by T-II.
Although he will be sorely missed, his presence was a true blessing.

Alvie was born January 24,
1922, in Stratford, OK to Elmer and Mammie Price. He
attended Moore Schools and Boeing Aircraft School. He
served in the U.S. Navy from November 1942 until he was
discharged in July 1944. Alvie married Lura Mae Tener on
September 15, 1944 in Moore, OK and moved to Norman in
January 1945. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 9
years, for Armor Meat Co. for 3 years, Tinker Air force Base,
where he retired in 1981, and then Primrose Funeral Home
until June 1988.
Alvie loved antiques, working on antique clocks,
fishing, and aggravating his grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
He helped start Suburban Baptist Church in Moore
and has been a member and greeter at Immanuel Baptist
Church since 1973.
Alvie is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Jo
Nell Lunow and husband, Gary, of Moore; son, Jerry Price
and wife, Martha of Norman; two sisters; one brother; four
grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews, and a host of friends.

Gene William Sayers
Gene Sayers, 71, of Norman, Oklahoma,
died Sunday, April 18, 2004. Services will
be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 22,
2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel
in Norman with Reverend Cal Brannon
officiating.
Gene was born August 1, 1932, in Oklahoma
City, OK to James Carey Sayers and Mildred
Irene (Barlow) Sayers. He spent his life
working in the land surveying/ engineering
field. He attended the University of
Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army (guided missiles) from 1953
to 1955. Gene married Patsy Ann Saunders on September 18, 1964,
in Del City, OK. He worked for Rea Engineering 6 years and then
served as the 1st Director of Public Works for the City of Norman 4
years. He returned to Rea Engineering until he and partners bought
the business and formed Design Engineers, Inc., where he retired
from in 1998.
Gene earned his Eagle Scout at 14 years old. He was the 1st President
of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Public Works Association.
He was a member of many other organizations including the
Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors,
Toastmasters, The Ancient and Beneficent Order of the Red Red
Rose and Eakly Gobbler Lodge. He loved aviation, vacationing in
Aruba, Sooner football and his family. He is a member of the
McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a very well
respected man by all that knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughter, Jean Ann Lehman and
husband, Steve, of Spring, Texas; son, Steven Douglas Sayers and
wife, Gaye of Norman; his brother, J.C. Sayers and wife Suzanne; his
aunt, Wanda Speed; and uncle, Herman Barlow. Gene has four
grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Lehman, Braden Douglas Sayers,
Madison Ann Lehman and Gannon William Sayers, a niece, a
nephew, several cousins and a host of friends.

Taeko Sekiguchi Sparger
Taeko Sekiguchi Sparger, 73, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Saturday, April 24,
2004 in Norman, Oklahoma. A private
service will be held on Saturday, May 1,
2004 with Reverend Paul Castell officiating.
Mrs Sparger was born October 20,
1930 in Tokyo, Japan, to Juzo and Tokie
(Endo) Sekiguchi. She married Captain
John Robert Sparger in Tokyo, Japan on
October 22, 1952. She moved to Norman in
June 1964 from Ardmore, Oklahoma and
graduated from the University of Oklahoma,
receiving a Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts degrees. She pursued
a career as an educator.
Mrs. Sparger was preceded in death by her parents and
husband. Survivors include son, John Robert Sparger II and wife,
Susan of Houston, TX; three daughters, Julia L. Gray of Ft. Gibson,
OK; Kelley Sparger Hightower of Terrell, TX and Aelli Sparger of
Norman, OK; sister, Susuko Sekiguchi and brother, Yo-Ta Sekiguchi
of Tokyo, Japan; six grandchildren, Amy Robertson, Cory and Sean
Gray, Kyle Sparger, Leah Storey and Michael Bagwell; and four
great-grandchildren, Tyler and Iyleah Gray, Morgan and Garret
Robertson.

James Charles "Jim" Williamson, 62, of
Norman, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, April

Mr. Williamson was born July 22, 1941 in
Indianapolis, Indiana, to Riley J and Mary Mildred
(Brownware) Williamson. He graduated from
Phoenix Union High School in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Williamson
was a member of a number of community organizations including the
Elks and Moose Lodges, the American Legion and the Phoenix
Jaycees. He married Alice M. Rodrigues on June 13, 1998 in Purcell,
Oklahoma. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents
and his wife, Carolyn Kay Damiano. Survivors include his wife,
Alice M. Williamson of the home; two sons, James Andrew
Williamson and wife, Christine, of League City, TX and Audie
Bennett Burns of Norman, OK; three daughters, Stella Louise
Brickman and husband, Joe, of Phoenix, Az, Andrea Annette Bowles
and husband, Bobby, of Purcell, OK and Elizabeth Rose Windon and
husband, Steve, of Purcell, OK; brother, Larry Robert Williamson;
and nine grandchildren, Chelsea Bowles, Tyler and Cale Winton, all
of Purcell, OK, Easton Burns of Jones, OK, Emma Burns of Norman,
OK, Steven Burns of Moore, OK; Sunny Burkholder of Arizona,

Roberta Whitney Farris
Roberta Whitney Farris, 63, of Norman, Oklahoma died April
18, 2003 in Norman. Mrs. Farris was born May 13, 1939 in Houma,
Louisiana to Hayes and Judith Baddauex Whitney. She grew up in
Houma and graduated from Terrebonne High School. Afterward, she
graduated from business school in New Orleans, Louisiana. Roberta
married Billy Farris on March 2, 1958 in Houma, Louisiana. She
moved to Norman in 1961 from Houma. She was Executive
Administer for Barbour and Short Company for thirty four years.
Roberta was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph
Women’s Club, St. Monica Guild and was on the Religious Education
Board. Her hobbies included crocheting, genealogy and playing cards.
Mrs. Farris was preceded in death by her parents and one son,
David. She is survived by her husband, Billy, of the home; three sons,
Randy Farris and wife, Naomi, of Atoka, OK, Brian Farris and wife,
Debbie, of Wichita, KS and Douglas Farris and wife, Kim, of Norman,
OK; four daughters, Deanna Ruch and husband, Harry, of Norman,
OK, Rhonda Grizzle and husband, Tim of Norman, OK, Christa
Thompson, of Oklahoma City, OK and Dawn Riff and husband, Chet
, of Edmond, OK; one brother, Milton "Bud" Whitney; four sisters,
Judith W. Guidoz, Rose W. Long, Anne W. Guenoit and Anita W.
