EULEAN MARINO KNIGHT
DAPHNE - Eulean Marino Knight, a native and lifelong resident of Daphne, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000 at a local health-care facility. She was 83.
She was a member of the Shrine of the Holy Cross Church.
Survivors include four nieces, Diedre McNeil of Fairhope, Hazel Solomon and Louise Dubose of Houston and Cally Solomon of Daphne; six nephews, James Johnson, Howard Marino, James Solomon, and Gary Solomon, all of Daphne, and Jerome Solomon and Ronnie Solomon of Long Beach, Calif., and one cousin, Dr. Austin Grisby of California.
Viewing will be from noon until 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Shrine of the Holy Cross Church in Daphne. Visitation will follow from 10 until the 11 a.m. service hour, when mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert McCowan. Burial will follow in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.

ROY STEWART JR.
BAY MINETTE - Roy Stewart Jr., a resident of Bay Minette and a native of Chevrolet, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his residence. He was 73.
Stewart was a retired security policeman from the U.S. Air Force, a veteran of World War II and Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Nell Middleton Stewart of Bay Minette; his son, Ronald Bruce Stewart of Styx River; two daughters, Shelia Ann Ange of Merced, Calif. and Carol Theresa Pimperl of Bay Minette; three sisters, Willie Mae Clark of Pennington, Va., Virginia Piper and Sue Rowe both of Clinton, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday at Norris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Presnall officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.

FREDERICK GEORGE NELSON JR.
FAIRHOPE - Frederick George Nelson Jr., a resident of Fairhope and a native of New Jersey, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at a local health-care facility.
He was 82. Nelson graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1941, was an honorary member of Sigma Psi and retired from ALCOA in 1980 as a research engineer.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Nelson Redlich of Fairhope; two sons, Frederick George Nelson III of Monaca, Pa. and Louis Allen Nelson of Pittsburgh; one sister, Margaret Louise Lankton of Fairhope; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will take place at Highwood Cemetery in Perrysville, Pa.
Local arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
JULIA G. CHRISTIANSEN
FAIRHOPE - Julia Green Christiansen, a native of Mobile and a resident of Battles Wharf, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at a local health-care facility. She was 81 years old.
Mrs. Christiansen was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Petrone of Bel Aire, Md., and Louise Vanderbeck of Binghampton, N.Y.; two sons, Boyce J. Christiansen Jr. of Madison and Thomas H. Christiansen of Fairhope; a sister, Adelaide Tourart of Battles Wharf; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Celebrant of the Mass will be the Rev. Gordon Milsted.
Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Mobile. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 370 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.

GARY A. PURVIS
DAPHNE - Gary A. Purvis, 52, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at his home in Daphne.
He was senior vice president, branch administration, at SouthTrust Bank. Purvis had more than 20 years experience in banking and joined SouthTrust Bank in 1984.
He was a charter member and past president of the Daphne-Spanish Fort Rotary Club and served on the Baldwin County Steering Committee for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Eastern Shore Baptist Church, where he served on the building committee.
Purvis was instrumental in the recent establishment of the Spanish Fort Volunteer Fire Station No. 2, his family said. He also served on the board of directors for The Lighthouse shelter from 1996 to 1998. He was a graduate of Mobile College and the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.
He was a member of the senior advisory committee of Baldwin County Chapter of the American Institute of Banking.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Purvis of Daphne; three sons, Brett Purvis, Clynt Purvis and Jonathan Purvis, all of Daphne; one daughter, Shelly Govan of Daphne; two brothers, Donald Purvis of Semmes and Leonard Purvis of Winchester, Va.; one sister, Petty Purvis of Montgomery and two granddaughters.
The funeral was held Saturday at Eastern Shore Baptist Church and burial followed at Bayview Cemetery in Daphne.

Mira Cromwell
Mira Cromwell, a Maben, Miss., native and a Mobile resident, died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 100.
Mrs. Cromwell was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Crichton, where she served in the Missionary Society. She also was a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 6 at Friendship Baptist Church, 2667 Reaves St. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hodge's Chapel.
William J. Edwards
SATSUMA - William James Edwards, a Mobile native and a Satsuma resident, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 60.
Edwards retired as the district manager of Gulf Life/American General Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. He was a past member of H.E. Blackwell Lodge No. 899 F&AM and a member of the Alabama National Guard. He also was honored as the Young Man of America by the Jaycees in 1967.
He is survived by his wife, Nell C. Edwards.
Visitation will begin at noon and services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Radney Funeral Home of Saraland. Burial will be in Satsuma Cemetery.

Bill A. Evans, a native of Lake
Charles, La., and a resident of Axis, died Friday at his home. He was 87.
He was a member of Lafitte Baptist Church and had retired from International Paper Co. after 42 years of service.
Survivors include one son, Bill Ray Evans of Axis; one daughter, Faye Kent of Mobile; six sisters, Odette Jones of Frisco City, Mildred Oswald of Chickasaw, Corrietta Rambo of Spanish Fort, Joyce Smith of Saraland, Lena Warren of Satsuma and Edna Earl Carraway of McDavid, Fla.; four brothers, W.S. Evans of Saraland, Charles K. Evans of Camden, Donald Evans of Mobile and Clifford Evans of Evergreen; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth D. Gunnin
Elizabeth D. Gunnin, a native of Bessemer and a resident of Mobile since 1952, who formerly resided at Gordon Oaks Independent Living Facility, died Friday at the family residence in Richmond, Va.
Survivors include one son, Larry Gunnin of Chester, Va.; one sister, Louise Stephens of Hueytown, Ala.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Milton Middleton
CHICKASAW - Milton "Billy" Middleton, a retired employee of Alabama Power Co. and a member of First Baptist North Mobile, died Saturday at his residence. He was 66.
The Mobile native and Chickasaw resident is survived by his wife, Joy Richards Middleton; four children, Sandy Miller of Chickasaw, Donna Spicknall of Lusby, Md., Tammy Root of Lexington, Ky., and Bart Middleton of Saraland; five brothers, Angus Young of Oxford, Robert G. Middleton of Walker, La., Norman Middleton of Houston and Kenneth Middleton and Richard T. Middleton, both of Mobile; five sisters, Inez Bolen, Edith Lockhart, Ruby Gabel and Claudia Watson, all of Mobile, and Jessie Fitts of Spencer, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Mobile Memorial Gardens. THEODORE - Hanh Thi Nguyen, a Vietnam native and a Theodore resident, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 84.
Survivors include five children, Helen Nguyen, Mai-Huong Holloway-Lowe, Kieu-Lien Atwell, Hai Nguyen and Tuan Le; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Claudia S. O'Cain
Claudia Stevens O'Cain, a Mobile native and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maysville, died Thursday. She was 61.
O'Cain, a retired educator from Mobile County schools, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver Court 210 and the Legion of Mary.
She is survived by four sisters, Autherine S. Harris, Emma S. Mitchell, Geraldine S. Williams and Louella S. Burroughs, all of Mobile; and three brothers, Dr. Clauzell Stevens of Montgomery, Thomas Stevens and Lorenzo Stevens Sr., both of Mobile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maysville. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the rosary will be said prior to the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery. Mary H. Cresap
JACKSON, Ala. - Mary H. Cresap, a retired schoolteacher for Clark County, died Saturday at a Mobile County Hospital. She was 91.
Cresap, a lifelong resident of Jackson, was a member of the local Presbyterian church.
She is survived by a son, Charles E. Cresap of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four daughters, Miriam Schlicht of Southbury, Conn., Gertrude Malbis of Daphne, Carol Parten of Russellville, Ark., and Priscilla Molter of Breckinridge, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation services will take place Tuesday in Mobile. Burial will follow at a later date in Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson, and a memorial service also will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian church in Jackson or to the Jackson Public Library. Arrangements are by Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.
James Cooper Moore
FRISCO CITY - James Cooper "Tuby" Moore, a farmer for many years who served on the board of directors of the Monroe County Farmers Federation, died Friday at Monroe County Hospital. He was 52.
Moore was a native of Raleigh, Miss., and a resident of Frisco City. He was a member of Frisco City Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Moore of Frisco City; his mother, Myrtle Scott Moore of Raleigh, Miss.; one son, Jim Moore of Frisco City; one brother, Gerald Moore of Madison, Miss.; two sisters, Annette Thorton of Raleigh and Jackie Allen of Waynesboro, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Frisco City Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Monroe Chapel Funeral Home in Monroeville.
Mr. Vernon Lamar Case:
A native of Copiah County, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile died on Saturday, D ecember 30, 2000 at a local hospital. Mr. Case was a member of the Episcopal Faith, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. His parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank G. (Op helia Toney) Case and three brothers, Henry Lee Case , Albert Case and Hollis Case preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Martha Evans of McComb, MS and Vera Mae Jones of Brookhaven, MS; one brother, Charles E. Case of Natchez, MS; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ed Edwards:
76, of 120 McKinnon Dr., Rockingham went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 30, 2000 in Raleigh. He was born April 17, 1924 in Sycamore, AL, a son of the late Charles and Dee Pike Edwards. Mr. Edwards was the district manager with Independent Life for a number of years, and later own ed Edwards Interiors in Southern Pines. Mr. Edwards attended the First Assembly of God for many years and was a highly decorated veteran of the US Army with two Silver Stars and a Purple Heart. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2nd at the First Assembly of God with the Rev. Gene Alexander officiating. Burial will be private. Surviving are: his wife, Faye Edwards of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Edwards of Raleigh; a son, Richard Edwards and wife Pam of Point Clear, AL; a brother, Robert Lee Edwards of Sylacauga, AL; a sister, Rose Jane Holman of Odessa, TX; four grandchildren, Nowell Henry of Manhattan Beach, CA, Lyle Henry of Raleigh, Jesse Edwards of Auburn, AL, and Mary Elizabeth Edwards of Point Clear, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Age 70, of Lake Placid passed away Sat urday morning at this home. He was born in Miami, FL and had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1987 coming from Birmingham, Alaba ma. He owned and operated his own business. He was a member of the US Army National Guard and the Lake Placid Elks BPOE Lodge #2661. He was a Methodist by Faith. He is survived by his wife, Vivian (Miller) Turpin of Lake Placid and his children, Rebecca ``Becky'' Bailey of Daphne, AL, Dianne Thomas of Montrose, AL and Edward P. Turpin of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Esther Jacobs of Lake Park, FL. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl DeRemer, brother, Kenard Turpin, and sister, Ruth Bigelow. Age 78, died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at a local health care facility. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Foley. Mr. Winck attended Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church and was partners in ownership of South Wind RV Park in Gulf Shores. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Audrey E. Winck of Foley; two sons, Donald Winck of Foley and David Winck of Orange Beach; one daughter, Cherie Cordell of Mobile; five grandchildren, Farah and Donny Cordell of Mobile, David and Amy Winck of Orange Beach and Lauren Winck of Auburn.
