Nannie Kitts Thurston Sullivan, 59, of Waynesboro, formerly of Tazewell, died April 22 at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.
Born Jan. 12, 1947 in Tazewell, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Hattie Alley Kitts.
The retired from the Acme Furniture Company in Crozet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; one sister, Victoria Abel and one brother, Richard Kitts.
Survivors: son, Scott Thurston and wife, Fawn, of Waynesboro; grandson, Daniel Thurston; sisters, Edna Howell and husband, Bill, of Elkin, NC, Katherine Griffith and husband, Mike, and Margaret Earls, all of North Tazewell, Jean Deskins of Gretna; brothers, Alfred Kitts and wife, Kay, of Bluefield, VA, Albert Kitts and wife, Carol, of Bastian; special sister-in-law, Rosalie Kitts of North Tazewell; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Apr. 26 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with the Rev. Kenneth Gillespie officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hayes-Sluss Cemetery at Mudfork.

Letha M. Thomas
Letha M. Thomas, 67, of Pound, formerly of Tazewell, died Apr. 21 at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Kingsport, TN.
Born March 6, 1939 at Horsepen, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Thomas Dye, Sr. and Mollie Victoria Baker Dye.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Collins; one sister, Margie Mullins; and two brothers, John Thomas Dye and Carl Lee Dye.
Survivors: son, Ray Collins and wife, Mary, of Harpers Ferry, WV; daughters, Juanita Conley and husband, Ricky, of Pound, Nancy Conley and husband, Carlos, of Harpers Ferry, Barbara Addison of Big Stone Gap, Loretta Rocksandic of Parma, OH; sisters, Lula Blackburn and husband, Howard, of Bealton, Norma Jean Cameron of Front Royal, Pauline Hamilton and husband, Bud, of Clintwood; brothers, Robert Dye and wife, Stella, of North Tazewell, Oscar Dye and wife, Brenda, of Plains, Arthur Dye, Jr. and wife, Robin, of Amherst; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and her pet dog, Prissy.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. April 24 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Pastor Charlie Marrs officiating.
Burial followed at Brewsterdale Cemetery in Brewsterdale, WV.

Ernie Tiller
Ernie Tiller, 54, of Honaker, died Apr. 22 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Apr. 8, 1952 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Elijah and Maggie Gaynell Stevens Tiller.
A lifelong resident of the area, he attended the In The Beginning Fellowship Church and Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a disabled coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tivis Tiller and his wife, Jean, and Roy Scott Tiller; and seven nieces and nephews, Brian Tiller, Regina Tiller, Janet Tiller, Jessica Tiller, Johnathan Tiller, Johnia Hope Tiller and Jason Rasnake.
Survivors: wife of 31 years, Brenda Tiller; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Marie and Roy Eugene Hurt, of Swords Creek; grandchildren, Courtney Nicole Hurt and Christopher Eugene "Bubba" Hurt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Carol Tiller of Bee, Rev. John and Donna Tiller and James and Kathy Tiller, all of Hansonville, Rev. Larry and Judy Tiller of Saltville, William and Tammy Tiller of Rosedale; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Apr. 25 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Tiller and Rev. Larry Tiller officiating.
Interment followed in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.

Betty Waldron
Betty Waldron, 71, of the Dry Fork area of North Tazewell, died Apr. 24 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell.

James Howard West
James Howard West, 88, of Swords Creek, died Apr. 19 in a Richlands hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1917 in Christiansburg, he was a son of the late Robert and Bessie Lovins West.
He had been a resident of the Swords Creek area since 1944 and had owned and operated West Grocery in that area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freeda West, four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Caffie West of Bristol, VA; brother, Harold West of Belfast; granddaughter, DeDe Jones and husband, Mike, of Bristol, TN; grandson, Keith West and wife, Danita West, of Louisville, KY; great-grandchildren, Dustin West, Kennedy Jones, Courtney West, Bailey Jones, and Ian West; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Apr. 21 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Stephen W. Worley
Stephen Wilfred Worley, 66, a resident of Milton, FL, died Apr. 19 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Leemaster, he was the son of the late Raleigh E. and Bonnie Yates Worley, Sr..
He had made his home in Milton for the past 26 years. He had worked for Island Creek Coal Company and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the UMWA Local of Keen Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Kansas Matney Worley; one son, Gary Wayne Worley; and two brothers, Roger and Joseph Worley.

Helen Lois Crouse Young
Helen Lois Crouse Young, 66, of Tazewell, died Apr. 20 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born July 5, 1939 in Tazewell County, she was a daughter of the late Timothy Richard Crouse and Gracie Brooks Crouse.
She was of the Holiness faith. She was a member of the Tazewell Community Hospital Auxiliary and worked with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) and volunteered with A Child Shall Lead Them Food Pantry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee (Shorty) Young; one sister, Frances Thompson; and two brothers, John Richard Crouse and Kenneth Harold Crouse. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors: daughter, Karen Melvin and husband, Brian, of Tazewell; son, Senior Chief Robert Young, USN and wife, Cathy, of Chesapeake; grandsons, Brandon Young and Ryan Young; sisters, Mary Butt of Bluewell, WV, Vivian Riley of North Tazewell, Juanita White of Martinsburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine Addison
Catherine Addison, 86, of Richlands, died Apr. 29 at a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Anawalt, WV, she was a daughter of the late Robert Silas and Agnes Mitchell Miller Puckett, both Tazewell County natives.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Richlands. She had lived all her life in the Richlands area. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin "Ken" Addison; two brothers, Hoyt and Clint Puckett; and one grandson, Joseph Addison.
Survivors: daughters, Sue Addison Compton and Melissa Yvette Addison, both of Richlands; sons, Jerry Kenneth Addison and wife, Shirley, of Cedar Bluff, Thomas Wayne Addison and wife, Lara, of Pounding Mill, Larry James Addison of Richlands; sisters, Dorothy Coe of Pounding Mill, Louise Fain of Portsmouth, Helen Woody of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Katrina Caywood, Craig Compton, Keiara Stiltner, Kenneth Addison, Roy Lee Addison and Jerri Kaye Mabe; two great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Helen LoEdith Dye Alicie
Helen LoEdith Dye Alicie, 80, of Tazewell, died Apr. 24 at Westwood Health Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Bluefield, VA, following a long illness.
Born at Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Robert and Cordellia Vance Dye.
She had made her home in Tazewell and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
She was the last member of her immediate family. She was the widow of Charlie Bryce Alicie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Crockett Murphy and grandson, Brian C. Hildebrand.
Survivors: daughters, Deborah Murphy of Tazewell, Addavene Alicie of the home; grandchildren, Pamela Clark and Jeff of Telford, TN, Tina Farmer and Daniel Keith of Pounding Mill, Amy Renee Lambert and William of Tazewell; great grandchildren, Haley and Morgan Farmer, Taylor Renee Lambert and Jacob Clark; and step-great grandchildren, Kelsie and Jenna Clark, and Kathryn and Brittany Lambert.

Tony Bava
Tony Bava, 84, of Richlands, formerly of Beckley, WV, died Apr. 30 in Clinchville Medical Center.
The son of Italian immigrants, he was one of nine children born to Joseph and Catherine Costanzo Bava. He was born Jan. 27, 1922 at New Kingston, PA.
He spent his childhood at Glen White coming there from New Kingston at the age of six. A resident of the Mt. Tabor community since 1956, he was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1943. A veteran of WWII, he served under General George Patton. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; American Defense Service Medal; and the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon.
He was a retired inspector with WV Dept. of Highways with 21 years of service. A member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church, he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. An avid WVU fan, he was a member of the Crab Orchard – MacArthur Lions Club. He had been a resident of Richlands the past five years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Clara Dwiggins, Angie Sanders, Francis Caruso, Anna Pannell and Lena Stiner; and three brothers, Sam Pilliteri and John and Charles Bava.
Survivors: beloved wife, Mary Ann Davis Bava; he was the loving father of Karen Hudson and husband, Richard, of Richlands, Joseph Bava and wife, Diane of Lady Lake, FL; and the dear grandfather of Sara and Emily Hudson and Ashley Adams and Jessica Bava. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be conducted May 3 at 3 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. David Brannock officiating.
Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
Military rites will be conducted at the Oak Hill Post 3110 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Myrtle "Dorothy" Blankenship
Myrtle "Dorothy" Blankenship, 76, of Raven, went to be with the Lord Apr. 29, following a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of the late Arch and Bonnie Pink Rasnake Blankenship, both Tazewell county natives.
She was well known for her cooking and was a cook for the Hilltop Restaurant for many years. She always had a smile, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Lee Blankenship; one brother, Ellis Johnson; and two sisters, Cutie Coxton and Shirley Keen.
Survivors: daughters, Barbara Dennis and husband, Allen, of Kingsport, TN, Diane Hess and husband, Kenneth, and Connie Dye, all of Doran; sons, Sidney Sparks and wife, Carlena, and Dennis Sparks and wife, Eva, all of Raven, Benny Sparks and wife, Diedra, of Road Ridge; step-daughter, Michelle Stillwood of Florida; step-son, Stevie Blankenship and wife, Cindy, of Texas; sister, Edith Osborne of Richlands; brothers, Stevie Horton of Kentucky, Howard Johnson of Florida; special friend, Sylvia Osborne; 11 grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; 12 grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Reba Dean Blevins
Reba Dean Atkins Blevins, 66, of Raven, went to be with the Lord Apr. 24 at Clinch Valley Medical Center.
Born Feb. 24, 1940 in Ash Camp, KY, she was the daughter of Nellie Dehart Atkins of Tazewell and the late Virgil Atkins.
She lived 40 years in Jewell Valley and the last 26 years in Raven. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Atkins.

Bernard Marion Bratton
Bernard Marion Bratton, 81, of Abingdon, formerly of Bluefield, VA, died Apr. 26 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Born Oct. 18, 1923 at Bluefield, VA, he was a son of the late Rexford Houston Bratton and Naomi Austin Bratton.
Survivors: sisters, Ruth Bratton of Bluefield, VA, Nannie Becker of New York, Betty Lee Adams of Cleveland, OH, Normanda Thompson of California; brothers, Ivon Bratton and Austin Bratton, both of Detroit, MI, John Bratton and Keith Bratton, both of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Apr. 28 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell with the Rev. Michael Bratton officiating.

Grady Franklin "Frank" Colley
Grady Franklin "Frank" Colley, 69, of Council, died Apr. 24 at his home following a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Born May 3, 1936 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Ayers and Sally Johnson Colley.
He had spent his early life in the area, moving to Indiana, and moving back here 35 years ago. He was a 1956 graduate of Council High School. He was a retired section foreman with Pittston Coal Company. He was a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Arson Colley, Edward Colley, Ferrell Colley and Clifford Colley; one sister, Nellie Colley Rife; his father-in-law, Jency Dye; three sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors: wife of 48 years, Betty Dye Colley; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Adrin McGlothlin of Council, Sherry and Rick Presley of Davenport; sons, Randall Colley and Timmy Colley, both of Council; grandchildren, Douglas McGlothlin of Council, Shandi Presley of Davenport; brother, Ayers Colley and wife, Sue, of Richlands; sisters, Mary Taylor of Georgia, Emma Gaye Johnson and husband, Andrew, of Raven; his mother-in-law, Clara Dye of Raven; special niece, Rita Mallott of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews whom were special to him.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Apr. 28 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Kyle Ratliff and Rev. Carl Burmeier officiating.
Interment followed in the Colley Cemetery at Murphy.

Michael Owen Cruey
Michael Owen Cruey, 53, of Bardstown, KY, formerly of Tazewell, died Apr. 27 at his residence.
Born May 26, 1952 in Tazewell, he was the son of Owen Albert Cruey and Lucy Phillips Cruey of Tazewell.
He was a graduate of Tazewell High School and had been previously employed by Consolidation Coal Company for 25 years. He had served as the Assistant Fire Chief for the Town of Tazewell Fire Department for many years. He was of the Methodist faith.
Additional survivors: wife of 33 years, Rose Hamilton Cruey; daughter, Sarah Hill and husband, Keith, of Bardstown; son, Paul Cruey of Bardstown; grandchildren, Morgan and Jaiden, both of Bardstown; sister, Mary Ruth Laxton and husband, Larry, of Tazewell; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 10 a.m. May 1 at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown.
Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. May 3 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Tazewell.

Ruth Wanda Elkins
Ruth Wanda Elkins, 81, of Honaker, died Apr. 25 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Dec. 5, 1924 in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late Jerome B. and Nora Compton Elkins.
She was a registered nurse with over 50 years of service for the Washington Eye Clinic. She was a member of the Washington Cathedral Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Madeline Boyd, Gail Davis, Ethel Keene and Magnolia Elkins, and four brothers, Jay Elkins, Swain Elkins, Luther Elkins and Claude Elkins.
Survivors: sister-in-law, Mrs. Luther (Ruth) Elkins; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Bernice Hess.
The funeral was conducted at 10 a.m. Apr. 27 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Father Dan Brady officiating.
Burial followed in the Elkins Cemetery at Horton Ridge.

Paul C. Mitchell, Jr.
Paul C. Mitchell, Jr., 43, of Bandy, went home to be with the Lord Apr. 27.
Born Nov. 23, 1962 in Tazewell County, he was the son of Bessie White Mitchell of Bandy and the late Paul Mitchell, Sr.
He was a member of Hill Creek Baptist Church and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a firefighter for Bandy Volunteer Fire Department.
Additional survivors: wife of 20 years, Pamela L. Houchins Mitchell; sons, Joshua K. Mitchell and Tristan A. Bucklin, both of the home, Steven P. Mitchell of Ft. Bragg, NC, Christopher S. Perkins of Kents Ridge; granddaughter, Bethany A. Mitchell; brothers, Douglas Mitchell of Bandy, Thomas Mitchell and Walter Mitchell, both of Taylorsville, NC; sister, Bobbie Keen of Bandy; many nieces and nephews; and special family, the Houchins family, J.A. William Peery, Jr. (Beido)
William W. Peery, Jr. (Beido), 71, of Bluefield, WV, died at his home Apr. 25 of heart complications.
Born Jan. 17, 1935 in North Tazewell, he was a son of the late William W. Peery and Rose Brown Peery.
He was a life long member of the North Tazewell United Methodist Church.
A 1953 graduate of Tazewell High School, he received a BS in Social Science from Concord College and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from East Tennessee State University.
One of his memorable accomplishments began as a member of Tazewell High School’s only undefeated football season.
Following his graduation from Concord College in 1960, he accepted the coaching job at Dunbar High School in Dunbar, WV. During the 1960-61 season the team turned in a 7-3 record. For the 1961-62 and 62-63 seasons he was the assistant to Head Coach Merrill Gainer along with John Chmara and George Erps at Beaver High School, where they had records of 9-1 and 11-1 and were crowned West Virginia State Champions.
He accepted the head football coaching position at Giles High School taking the Spartans from the bottom of the New River District to one of the leagues top performing teams in his first year. Following that year, Coach Peery moved to Richlands to lead the Blue Tornados Football team and won the Southwest District Championship title.
The next year, Coach Peery joined Casto Ramsey’s coaching staff at Emory & Henry College as the offensive coordinator. During his four year tenure with the Wasps they set eight offensive National Records. Coach Peery also served as Head Baseball Coach for Emory & Henry.
He resigned his passion for coaching in order to support his growing family and accepted a position with Norfolk and Southern Railroad. During that time, he was promoted up the ranks and retired in 1994.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Luther Peery.
A beloved father and friend, he is survived by daughters, Cathy Evans and son-in-law, Jim, of Bluefield, WV, Beth DeLaney and son-in-law, Mark, of Mansfield, OH; son, Bill Peery, III and daughter-in law, Jill, of Bluefield, VA; brothers, Jesse Peery and wife, Ann, of North Tazewell, John Peery and wife, Delane, of Arlington, TX; sister, Clair Ann Peery Mays and husband, Fuzz, of Missouri; grandchildren, Melissa DeLaney, Emily Peery, Mark DeLaney, II, Andy Peery, Nathan Evans, Casi Nobel and Bethany Evans; and great grandson, Ethan DeLaney.
The family received friends at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell Apr. 28 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Pastor Bill Brown conducted services at the funeral home at 2 p.m.
Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
His children have established the "Bill Peery Athletic Scholarship Fund" for Tazewell High School Students. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bank of Tazewell County, P.O. Box 687, Tazewell, VA 24651.
He never met a stranger, his compassion for all human kind and enduring generosity has touched many hearts and will never be forgotten. It only seems fitting to continue his genuine kindness with an Athletic scholarship that will help support the future generations of deserving athletes.

Magaline G. Roberts
Magaline G. Roberts, 72, of the Mudfork area of Bluefield, VA "beloved mother" departed this world Apr. 29 to enter the arms of Jesus.
She was born Jan. 26, 1934 at Iaeger, WV. She was a devoted member of the Stoney Ridge Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha Roberts, Sr.
Survivors: son, Elisha Roberts, Jr. of Mudfork; daughters, Betty Pruett and husband, Joseph Harold Pruett, of Abbs Valley, Linda Carr of King George, Brenda Roberts of Fredericksburg, Tammy Fleming and husband, Steve Fleming, of Chattanooga, TN; precious grandchildren, Crystal Sawyers, Kelly Bandy, Jennifer Pruett, Eddie Carr, Nick Fleming, Sydney Fleming, Kim Nunley, Chris Dillon and Madeline Fleming; and five great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 3 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Whitley Pruett officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Sandra Kay Smith
Sandra Kay Campbell Smith, 55, of Bristol, TN, formerly of Buchanan County, died Apr. 24 in a Bristol, TN, hospital.
Born Jan. 1, 1951 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of Gaynell Baldwin Campbell of Oakwood and the late Rolley Campbell.
She had lived in Buchanan County, moving to Bristol in 1989. She was a 1969 graduate of Garden High School and was currently employed as a Material Handler with Exide. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sidney Guy Smith and Virginia T. Smith; two brothers-in-law, George Smith and Paul Bartram; maternal grandparents, Cleveland and Mae Osborne Baldwin; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Margie Meadows Campbell.
Survivors: husband of 37 years, Kelly Joe Smith; daughter, Sherry Smith Rhoton and husband, James, of Bristol, TN; sons, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Sitina, and Brian Smith and wife, Kristi, both of Bristol, VA; sisters, Freda Griffith and husband, Joe, and Kitty Griffith, all of Richlands; brothers, Wendell Buddy Campbell and wife, Teresa, of Honaker, Chris Campbell and wife, Tammy, of Oakwood; grandson, Evan Reed Smith; granddaughters, Hayley Smith, Josie Smith, Mollie Lowery-Smith, Sydney Rhoton, and Lauren Rhoton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Apr. 27 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Roy Yelton officiating.
Interment followed in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands.

Eunice B. Street
Eunice Blankenship Street, 81, of Independence, formerly of Buchanan County, died Apr. 27 in an Independence nursing facility.
Born Mar. 7, 1925 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Rhoda Lily Belle Blankenship.
She had spent most of her life in the Buchanan County area moving to Independence eight years ago. She was formerly employed as a cook at the Derby Café and the Rainbow Restaurant. She was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Street; one son, Harlis Edward Street; six brothers and sisters, Pearlie Blankenship, Grace Street, Virgie Street, Ora Street, Velva Duty and Pershing Blankenship; and two grandchildren.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Marvin Ratliff of Ivanhoe; son, James Elbert Street of Spring Hill; brother, Roosevelt Blankenship of Saltville; sisters, Leathia Street of Tazewell, Vida Street of Cedar Bluff, Pauline Chaffins of Mouthcard, KY, Ola Gay Morris of Glen Allen; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Apr. 30 at the Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Arvil Arwood officiating.
Interment followed in the Street Cemetery at Rowe.
Honaker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mincie Bonnita Taylor
Mincie Bonnita Taylor, 42, of Richlands, died Apr. 30 at a Richlands hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Tazewell County, she and was a daughter of Ruby Hagy Younts of Richlands and the late Junior Wesley Farmer.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the area.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Latasha Nicole Farmer; one sister, Wilma Farmer; and her grandparents, Andy and Lucy Hagy and Wesley and Susie Farmer.
Survivors: sons, Michael Taylor of Ahoskie, NC, Randal Taylor and fiancée, Sunshine Hawkins, of Abingdon, Jeramy Farmer of the home; sisters, Velma Martin and husband, Tim, of Richlands, Sylvia Johnson and husband, Johnny, of Raven; brothers, Ralph Farmer and wife, Jonoka, of Ahoskie, Preston Farmer of Wardell, Perry Farmer and wife, Peggy, of Conway, NC; grandson, McCauley Taylor of Galax; special friend, Frank Walters; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The funeral will be conducted May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Chester Perricllia officiating.
Burial will follow in the Reynolds Ridge Family Cemetery on Reynolds Ridge.
Friends may call at the funeral home May 2 and 3 from 6-9 p.m.

Ethel Alverta Viney
Ethel Alverta Viney, 75, of North Tazewell, died Apr. 26 at a Bluefield, WV hospital.
Born Apr. 2, 1931 in Tazewell, she was the daughter of the late Walter Franklin Smith, Sr. and Ethel Carroll Smith.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Wilbur Memorial United Methodist Church in Tazewell, where she served as the church organist and pianist. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and helped organize many church related events. She volunteered many hours to her community, the Crab Orchard Museum, and the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens. In 1989 she was the honored recipient of a Volunteer Citizen of Virginia Award.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Franklin Smith, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 43 years, John Blane Viney, Jr.; daughters, April Carroll Viney and special daughter, Donna Viney-Watkins and husband, Jamey, all of Hampton; sons, Jon Blane Viney, III of North Tazewell, Walter "Geezer" Viney of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Christian Tyler Viney, Spencer Elizabeth Viney, Cameron Cain Viney, Hayden Blane Aliff, Jonathan Viney, and Uniqua Viney; special grandson, O.J. Reed; and a host of other family and friends.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. May 2 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Browning officiating.
Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
