Jonah Franklin Willis Jr.
Jonah Franklin Willis Jr., 80, of Berea, KY, died May 25 at the home of his daughter in Berea.
He was born in Page, KY to the late Jonah Franklin and Betty James Willis.
He was a former coal miner, a US Army veteran and a member of the Crestview Holy Sanctuary.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virtha Mae Dodd Willis; one child, Alice Faye Willis; one grandchild, Brian Willis; two sisters, Opal McKeen and Christine Buck; and two brothers, Harold and Stewart Willis.
Survivors: children, Phyllis Ann Ford and Wayne Harold Willis, both of Berea, Donnie Franklin Willis of McKee, Tony Dewayne Willis of Richmond; brothers, Paul Willis of Page, Hardrick Willis of Cincinnati, OH, Burley Willis of Bishop; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. May 30 at Crestview Holy Sanctuary with Rev. Harold W. Eads officiating.
Burial followed in the Berea Cemetery.

Billy Gene Asbury
Billy Gene Asbury, 76, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Tazewell, died June 1 in a Chapel Hill, NC, hospital.
Born at Tazewell, he was the son of the late Jessie O’Brian Asbury and Annie Louise Asbury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nola Deskins Asbury; one son Charles David Asbury; two sisters Betty Rogers and Pauline Asbury; and one brother Freddie Asbury.
Survivors: daughter, Teresa Asbury Webb of Brenton, WV; sons, Randall Gene Asbury, James Anthony Asbury and Terry Wayne Asbury, all of Lexington, NC; sisters, Rosie Baily of Bluewell, WV, Pearlie Stanford of Bluefield, VA, Peggy Asbury of Tazewell, Shirley Marsh of Lexington, NC; brothers, Danny Asbury and Walter Asbury, both of Tazewell; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. June 4 in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff.
Burial followed in the Harrison Family Cemetery at Baptist Valley.

Barbara Ann Boyd
Barbara Ann Blankenship Boyd, 61, of Route 1, Vansant, died June 1 in a Grundy hospital.
Born Feb. 14, 1945 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Jay Hugh Blankenship, Sr. and Goldie Marie Compton Blankenship.
She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Crane’s Nest Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jay Hugh Blankenship, Jr., two half-brothers and three half-sisters.
Survivors: husband, Arthur F. Boyd; daughters, Hope Leigh Boyd and Penny Boyd and husband, Michael, all of Vansant, Colleen Dunford and husband, David, of Manassas; son, Gregory Boyd and wife, Rebecca, of Winchester; grandchildren, Phantasa Boyd, Tanner Boyd, Shawn Dunford, Katie Dunford, Megan Dunford, and Douglas Arthur Boyd; sister, Janet Ratliff of Davenport; brother, Teddy Blankenship of Honaker; special caregiver, Jennifer Rife; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. June 3 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Elder Garnell Gilbert, Elder Roger Fuller, Elder Price Viers, and Elder Jimmy Lee Smith officiating.
Interment followed in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon.

McKinley Boyd
McKinley Boyd, 90, of the Horton Ridge section of Swords Creek, died May 31 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Swords Creek, he was the son of the late Oscar and Sara Ann Dye Boyd.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a disabled coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was of the Baptist Faith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Louie Boyd; five sisters, Martha Jane Miller, Pearl Webb, Tori Dye, Margie Dye, and Maudie Miller; one brother, Dewey Boyd; one grandson; and one granddaughter.
Survivors: wife, Kathleen Perkins Boyd; daughters, Brenda Shortt of Honaker, Janice Hess and husband, Danny, of Swords Creek, Janet Clark and husband, Jr., of Cleveland, Doloras Miller of Richlands, Linda Wells and husband, Donnie, of Raven, Judy Keen and husband, Danny, of Swords Creek; sons, Lester Boyd of Richmond, Darrell Boyd and wife, Deloras, of Richlands, Larry Boyd and wife, Linda, of Cedar Bluff; stepsons, James Strouth and Sherman Strouth of Maryland; 22 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted June 2 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Ritchie T. Coleman
Ritchie Terrance Coleman, 32, of Rosedale, formerly of Buchanan County died June 1.
Born in Tazewell County, he was a son of Richard Lee Coleman of Vansant and Lorraine Stacy Coleman of Abingdon.
He had been a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and was a member of Little Prater Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Grundy High School Class of 1991 and was a former employee of Noah Horn Drilling Co.
Additional survivors: wife, Monica Justus Coleman; daughter, Alexis McKenzie Coleman of Rosedale; son, Ritchie Tyler Coleman of Rosedale; sister, Kim and husband, Eddie Lindsay, of Vansant; and brother, Eric and wife, Teresa Coleman, of Vansant.
The funeral was conducted June 5 at 3 p.m. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Eddie Lindsay, Larry Ratliff and Evg. Michael Trent officiating.
Burial followed in the Coleman Cemetery on Leemaster near Vansant.
Friends called at the funeral home June 3 after 5 p.m. with services June 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Evangelist Margaret "Peggy" Clements Dennis
Evangelist Margaret "Peggy" Clements Dennis, 52, of Tazewell, died May 30 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1953 in Tazewell, she was a daughter of Virginia Johnson Clements of Tazewell and the late Herman B. Clements, Sr.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tazewell and was employed with the Save A Lot Grocery Store of North Tazewell.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas (Bubbles) Dennis.
Additional survivors: daughter, Valarie Rena Dennis-Shepherd and husband, Troy, of North Tazewell; sons, Malcolm Douglas Dennis of Charlotte, NC, Devon DeShaun Dennis of the home; sister, Mary Griffin of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Charles Clements of Alexandria, Steven Clements and wife, Dinah, of Martinsville, Herman Clements, Jr. and wife, Phyllis, and Larry Clements and wife, Ranae, all of Tazewell; and grandchildren, Shereace LaShaun Dennis, D’Andre Shakur Dennis, Anna Marie Paris, Isaiah James Boulware, and Trinity Dreama Faith Shepherd.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. June 2 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with Pastor Jerry Esters officiating.
Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.

Wayne R. Fields
Wayne R. Fields, 86, of the Flatrock section of Honaker, died June 4 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born March 16, 1920 on Big A Mountain in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Nancy Stamper Fields.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith and a member of Gent’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for 35 years where he served as a deacon. He was formerly employed as a truck driver at M.O. Warner’s and Russell Oil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Hazel Compton Fields; two brothers, George "Buckskin" Fields and Ellis Burke Fields; two sisters, Bessie Fields Stump and Lona Fields Price; two infant siblings, Leurie Fields and Charlie Fields; and one nephew, Clifford Hicks. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors: daughter, Rita Roark and husband, Daniel, of Honaker; grandson, Douglas Wayne Roark of Honaker; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 8 p.m. June 6 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Majors of Fairborn, OH and Rev. Burke Hess officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. June 7 at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill.
Interment will follow.

Melissa (Lisa) Hale
Melissa Lynn (Lisa) Hale, 45, of Claypool Hill, died May 30 at a Richlands hospital.
Born July 22, 1960 in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Gaynell Richardson Hale of Claypool Hill.
She attended Pine Creek Holiness Church at Swords Creek.
Additional survivors: sister, Sherry Cunningham and husband, Barry, of Pounding Mill; niece, Josie Cunningham of Pounding Mill; and nephew, Barrett Cunningham of Pounding Mill.
The funeral was conducted at 7 p.m. June 1 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff with Rev. Jim Richardson and Brian Richardson officiating.
Graveside services were private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clinch River Kiwanis Club for the Tazewell County Special Field Day.

Charles Edward Hall
Charles Edward Hall, 72, of Bluefield, VA, died May 30 at his home.
Born in Tazewell County, he was a son of the late Bert C. Hall and Bessie Jane Farmer Hall.
He was a former employee for Kwik Kafe Co. in Bluefield, VA and enjoyed working with his flea marketing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne, Clarence, Jack and Howard Hall, and one sister, Elma Fern Hall.
Survivors: daughter, Nancy Thomas; son, Tracy Hall; sisters, Louise Holcomb of Baltimore, MD, Mary Alley and Hazel Stasheen, both of Bluefield, VA; and brothers, Curtis Hall and Orrin Hall, both of Bluefield, VA.
In honoring his wishes, he has been cremated. There will be no services or visitation at the funeral home.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA was in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Harris
Herbert Harris, 83, of Hansonville, died May 30 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Nov. 9, 1922, in Russell County, he was a son of the late Henry and Eula Mae Compton Harris.
A lifelong resident of the Russell and Buchanan county areas, he was a disabled coal miner, having been employed by Skeen Coal Company. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Gay Harris, and one grandson, Jackie Wayne Harris.
Survivors: daughters, Judy Carol Maynard of Crum, WV, Sandy Tuggle of Honaker; sons, Richard Harris, Jack Harris, Glen Harris, and James Harris, all of Honaker, Davy Harris of Lebanon, Larry Harris of Hansonville; sister, Altie Roman of Spring City; brother, Dickie Harris of Honaker; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. June 1 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Pastor Larry Brooks and Rev. Harless Hess officiating.
Interment followed in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain.

Frances Irene Kestner
Frances Irene Kestner, 81, of Tazewell, died May 30 at her home.
Born June 28, 1924, in Tazewell County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Glover Whitt and Elizabeth Crouse Whitt.
She was a member of the Tazewell Presbyterian Church and had been a volunteer with the Tazewell Community Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde O. Kestner, and four brothers, Claude Whitt, Clyde Whitt, Jack Whitt, and Tom Whitt.
Survivors: son, Max L. Kestner and wife, Teresa, of Castlewood; daughter, Violet Cassett and husband, John, of Ashland; sister, Madaline Blevins of Seven Mile Ford; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. June 1 at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill with Dr. James H. Grant, Jr. officiating.

Lucy Sandra Kutz
Lucy Sandra Kutz, 67, of Inverness, FL, and formerly from Bluefield, VA, died May 27 at Citrus Health Care System in Florida.
She was a native of Glen Rogers, WV, and was a daughter of the late Earl Erskine, Jr. and Ann Erskine.
She was formerly employed as a clerk by Mack Trucks in Winnsboro, SC, for 14 years and then worked as a clerk at Walgreens in Citrus Hills for two years. She was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed working with her flowers and gardening in her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Thompson in Oct. 2005, and by one stepson, Edward Kutz in 1994.
Survivors: husband of eight years, Robert E. Kutz of Inverness; son, Mark Thompson and wife, Kimberly, of Kill Devil Hills, NC; daughter, Sherri Jones and husband, William, of Winnsboro; stepdaughter, Cheryl Wagner and husband, Joseph, of Deltona, FL; brother, Earl Erskine III and wife, Sherry, of Bluefield, VA; sister, Marilyn Miller of Rockville, MD; brother-in-law, Chares T. Kutz and wife, Ann, of Allentown, PA; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral was conducted June 3 at 12 noon at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA with the Rev. Larry Ramey officiating.
Burial followed in the Monte-Vista Cemetery in Green Valley, Bluefield.

Dustin Roby Lester
Dustin Roby Lester, 6-day-old son of Roby Luther and Roxanne Honaker Lester of Dry Fork, went to be with the Lord June 2 at a Johnson City hospital.
He was born at Johnson City, TN, May 27, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roger Lester.
Additional survivors: sisters, Savanna and Summer Lester of the home, and maternal grandparents, Russell and Susie Honaker of Bandy.
The funeral was conducted June 5 at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell with Rev. Roger Barnett officiating.
Interment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill.

Okey E. McClanahan, Sr.
Okey E. McClanahan, Sr., 61 of Abingdon, formerly of Richlands, died May 29 at a Health Care Center in Lebanon following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Verner, WV, and was the son of the late Stuart E. McClanahan and Pauline Mitchell Woosley.
He was a lifelong resident of the Richlands and Abingdon areas and was a mechanic for Jack Sykes Chevrolet in Richlands for 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Chester McClanahan.
Survivors: sons, Okey E. "Sam" McClanahan, Jr. and wife, Kelley, and Tobin Shane McClanahan and wife, Tammy, all of Abingdon, Barry Keith McClanahan of Shippensburg, PA; step-father: Hassell Woosley, Sr. of Richmond; sisters, Martha Elder and husband, Dave, and Paula Wells and husband, Lloyd, all of Richmond; brother, Hassell Woosley, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Richmond; special friends, Staff of Maple Grove Rehabilitation Health Care Center; grandchildren, Brandie Matney, Danielle Johnson, Rachel McClanahan, Kourtni McClanahan and Okey "Trey" McClanahan III; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conduced May 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands.
Interment was held June 1 at 11 a.m. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill.

Inge W. McGuire
Inge W. McGuire, 70, of Squire, WV, died June 4 at Tazewell.
Born Sept. 14, 1935 in Wiesbaden, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Hermann and Maria Otterbein Elsenberger.
She was Committee Chairperson for the Women of the Moose, Chapter #1803 of the Tazewell Moose Lodge #198. She was also a member of the Tazewell Liars Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon B. McGuire; one sister, Gisela Fletcher; and two brothers, Horst Elsenberger and Dieter Elsenberger.
Survivors: daughter, Maria V. "Sissy" Lawson of Radford; sons, Eric Robert McGuire of North Tazewell, Harry Dieter McGuire of Roanoke; sister, Maria Pillsbury of Saginaw, MI; brother, Winfried Elsenberger of Wiesbaden, Germany; grandchildren, Eric G. McGuire, Amy M. Lawson, McKenzy McGuire, and Noah McGuire; and special friends, Sue Puckett, Libby Kiser and Dale Meadows, all of Tazewell.
The family will receive friends at the Tazewell Moose Lodge from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. June 8, where a memorial service, along with a special recognition by the Women of the Moose, will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Pastor Curtis Shrader officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Women of the Moose Chapter #1803, PO Box 337, Tazewell, VA 24651.

James Parrot Sisk
James Parrot Sisk, 80, of Raven, died May 30 in a Richlands hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1925 in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Lidda Davis Sisk.
He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Sisk; two brothers, Charlie Sisk and Oliver Sisk; one sister, Perley Rose; and two great grandchildren, Domick Deskins and Kyle Cook.
Survivors: wife, Helen Sisk; sons, Gene Sisk of Rt. 1 Raven, Leon Sisk of Doran; daughters, Harriet Nicewander of Richlands, Linda Deskins of Belfast, Margaret Gillespie of Doran; sisters, Ocie Davis and Maria Sisk, both of Richlands, Goldie Rose of Rt. 1 Raven; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. June 3 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff with Pastor Shane Breeding and Pastor Tim Ward officiating.
Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 DAV.
A service was conducted June 2 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Judith Tharlene Stacy
Judith Tharlene Stacy, 65, of the Green Acres Estate of Pounding Mill, died June 4.
Born April 24, 1941 in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Mildred Collins Hibbitts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Snyder.
Survivors: husband of 48 years, Curtis Stacy; sons, Gregory Allen Stacy of Pounding Mill, Timothy Curtis Stacy and wife, Lori, of Spindale, NC; daughters, Anita Tharlene Parton and husband, Gary, of Asheboro, NC, Cynthia Lynn Stacy Earls of Pounding Mill; brothers, James Hibbitts and wife, Margaret, of Anniston, AL, Donald Hibbitts, Jr. and wife Glenda, of Dunnellon, FL; sisters, Mary Frances Cordle and husband, Melvin, of Pounding Mill, Brenda Byrd of Salisbury, NC; and grandchildren, T.C. Kit Carson Stiltner
Kit Carson Stiltner, 85, of Belfast, died June 1 after a brief illness in Russell County Medical Center.
Born March 19, 1921 in Grundy, he was a son of the late Lewis Stiltner and the late Martha Sweeny Stiltner.
He was a former coal miner and truck driver and was the owner of Stiltner’s Trailer Park in Belfast. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Gregory; two step-sons, James and Johnny Foster; two brothers, Arlen and David Stiltner; one infant brother, William Stiltner; step-granddaughter, Jodi Ann Foster.
Survivors: wife of 39 years, Betty Boyd Stiltner; daughters: Bernice Marshall and husband Bobby, of Lebanon, Joyce E. Stanley, of Grundy, Lexie I. Davis and husband, Larry, of Vansant, Sharlene L. Betty Daniel Dickens
Betty Daniel Dickens, 68, of Hiltons, formerly of Horsepen, died June 12 at her home after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1938 at Horsepen, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Anna Whitman Daniel.
She was a member of the Hiltons United Methodist Church and was previously a member of the Horsepen Church of Christ. She was an avid flower gardener and bird watcher who loved antiquing. She had a big generous heart and was a gracious hostess that always made everyone feel welcome at her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clinton Dickens.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. June 15 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.

Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell was in charge of arrangements.

Otis Wayne Dillow
Otis Wayne Dillow, 58, of Bluefield, VA, died June 9 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Otis and Hildred Hartwell Dillow.
He was of the Methodist faith and in his youth had attended Thompson Chapel in Bluefield. He was self-employed and until 2001 had operated Liberty Paving Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Malcolm Dillow, and two sisters, Bernice Dillow and Goldie Kidd.
Survivors: wife, Wilma Dean Hunt Dillow; sons, Joe Dillow and wife, Jennifer, and Brian Dillow and wife, Vanessa, all of Bluefield, VA, Crist Dillow and wife, Lynn, of North Tazewell; daughters, Cassie Dillow and Samantha Dillow, both of Bluefield, VA; brother, Robert Dillow and wife, Shirley, of Bluefield; sister, Debbie Fletcher and husband, Claude, of Bluefield; former wife and special friend, Carolyn Dillow; special friends, Clarence and Brenda Cataline, Howard and Donna Call, David Floyd and Ernie Kidd and wife, Melissa; and grandchildren, Lisa, Brandon, C.W., Casey, Kristen, Autumn, Charity, Chelsea, Dakota, Courtney, Mitchell, Candice, Tabatha, Billy, Melissa, Jordan, Joey, Ladosca and Crystal.
Memorial services were held June 11 at 6 p.m. at Thompson Chapel on John Nash Blvd. in Bluefield with Pastor Steve Branch officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetic Association, P.O. Box 1115, Dunbar, WV 25064 or to the Mercer Co. and Tazewell Co. Animal Shelter.
Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Marie Grindstaff
Ruth Marie Grindstaff, 88, of North Tazewell, went to be with her savior June 16 at the home of her daughter in Shenandoah, following a short illness.
Born at the Gratton section of Tazewell, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Ethel Louise Rutherford Bales.
She had made her home in Tazewell all her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Assembly of God Church for over 50 years.
She was the widow of Emory Jerome Grindstaff. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Bales and Paul Bales, and one sister, Katherine Sprinkle. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors: daughters, Pat Christian and husband, Thomas, of Richmond, and Marilyn Ratcliff and husband, Daniel, of Shenandoah. Her legacy includes nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bales of Tazewell; and special friend, whom she loved like a daughter, Wilma Collins of Tazewell.
The funeral was conducted June 19 at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell with Rev. John Branch officiating.
Interment followed at Maplewood Cemetery of Tazewell.

Charlotte Ann Gross
Charlotte Ann Gross, 45, of Richlands, died June 18 at her home.
Born Oct. 8, 1960 in Richlands, she was the daughter of Betty Jean Marshall Gross of Cedar Bluff and the late Conley Junior Gross.
Additional survivors: daughter, Ashley Shelton and husband, James, of Swords Creek; sisters, Barbara Justus and husband, Bill, of Hickory, NC, Linda Short and husband, Calvin, of Cedar Bluff, Kathy Mullins and husband, Scott, of Paintsville, KY; brothers, Junior Gross and wife, Pat, of Richlands, Jimmy Gross and wife, Teresa, of Raven; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted June 20 at 7 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Clarence Brown officiating.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. June 21 at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1 p.m. June 21.

Bernard Johnson
Bernard Johnson, 72, of the Combs Ridge section of Council, died June 13 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1934 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Marvin Johnson and Ora Hurt Harris Johnson.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Hobert Johnson and Homer Johnson, six brothers and three sisters.
Survivors: wife of 52 years, Julia Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Ellen Johnson of Church Hill, TN; grandson, Nathan Johnson and wife, Michelle, of Honaker; great-granddaughter, Mariah Johnson of Honaker; sisters, Maudie Johnson of Berwind, WV, Monnie Wilson of Council; brothers-in-law, Jerry Stevens and wife, Mary, Carl Stevens and wife, Clara, and Leroy Stevens and wife, Susie; special nieces, Brenda Wampler, Wanda Dye, Tamara Harris, and Barbara Rollins; special nephew, Brady Stevens and wife, Shirley; special friends, Carol Sykes and Michelle Sykes; and several additional nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. June 15 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating.
Interment followed in the Johnson Cemetery on Combs Ridge.
