Lawrence Wayne Whitt
Lawrence Wayne Whitt, 54, of the Earl’s Branch Road section of Cedar Bluff, died July 23 at his home.
He was the son of the late Thomas C. and June Harrison Whitt, both Tazewell County natives.
He was a Richlands High School class of 1970 graduate and had spent his entire life in the area. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran and also later enlisted with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a Retired Coal Miner and a UMWA member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Lee and Thomas Edward Whitt.
Survivors: daughter, Diana Whitt Bowman, and husband, Brock, of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota; son, James C. Whitt of Cedar Bluff; his former wife, Beverly J. Whitt, of Glade Spring; brothers, Charles Melvin Whitt and wife, Cathy, of Rocky Gap, Harry B. Whitt of Cedar Bluff; sisters, Cathy Whitt Bales of Doran, Bernice Whitt Lester of Wytheville, Regina Whitt Smith of Marion, OH; sister-in-law, Ora Whitt of Norfolk; and grandchildren, Brett Allen Bowman, Michael David Bowman, and Alyssia Bowman.
The funeral will be conducted July 26 at 1 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with Minister Chris White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Whitt Family Cemetery located in the Lick Branch section of Cedar Bluff.
Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 of Richlands will conduct military graveside rites.

Norma L. Conner
Norma L. Conner, of Charleston, WV, died July 19 at Hubbard House Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Hattie Nettles; one brother, Harlen Nettles; and one sister, Ernestine Gray.
Survivors: husband of 64 years, Gaylord; children, Glen (Margaret) of Williamson, Loretta (Irvin) of Waverly, Richard (Velma) of Richlands, Gary (Rose) of Clayton, NC; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Imogene Doddrill, Eloise Howard, Maxine Mullins and Relda Jean Shields; and brother, Sterling Nettles.
Services were held July 21 at 11 a.m. at the Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles G. Steele officiating.
Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV.

Kay Blankenship Gibson
Kay Lyn Blankenship Gibson, 69, of Wentworth, MO, formerly of Richlands, died July 22 at home after a long illness.
Survivors: husband, Gary Gibson; sons, Gary, Jr. of the home and Cary and granddaughter Julie of Monett, MO; her mother, Helen Buskill Blankenship of Kents Ridge; brother, James Robert “Lozo” Blankenship, wife Christine of Kents Ridge; sisters, Nita Karan Bales, husband George “Abe” of Richlands, Helen Blankenship Roesch of Auburn, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services were conducted.

Kenneth E. Grimsley
Kenneth Eugene Grimsley, 64, of Meadowview, formerly of Falls Church, died July 23 in Asheville, NC.
Born Feb. 7, 1942 in Red Ash, he was the son of the late Leonard and Virginia Ray Grimsley.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a Navy Seal veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart medal. He was retired from George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Myers Grimsley; and two brothers, Curtis Grimsley and Dennis Grimsley.
Survivors: sister, Carol Horne and husband, Carlous, of Travelers Rest, SC; brothers, Kyle Grimsley and wife, Diane, and Keith Grimsley and wife, Judy, all of Meadowview; step daughter, Kathy Large of Falls Church; step sons, David Myers of Falls Church, Bobby Myers of Florida; nieces, Anita Fisher, Lisa Hellams, Melissa Grimsley and Tiffany Grimsley; nephew, Jay Horne and wife, Joye; and eight step grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. July 27 at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640.
Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret C. Hunter
Margaret Cordelia Hunter, 88, of Richlands, died July 30 at Golden Age Retirement Home following a long illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1917 in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Louis H. Hunter, Sr. and Nannye Martin Clark.
She was a 1935 graduate of Richlands High School and attended State Teacher’s College in Farmville. She received an ABS degree from Concord College. She taught school in Dante, Appalachia and Richlands. She was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. She received her nursing degree from Pennsylvania University in Philadelphia. She retired as nursing supervisor from Mattie Williams Hospital. She was a member of Dye Presbyterian Chapel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Hunter.
Survivors: brother, Louis Hunter and wife, Lucy, of Richlands; nieces and nephews, Margaret H. Jansen of Knoxville, TN, Lucy H. (Boo) Trott of Mechanicsville, Louis H. (Tab) Hunter of Central Asia, Jeffrey Reed Hunter of Tega Cay, SC, Nancy H. Helmke of Manassas; three great nieces; and four great nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 2 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Minister William Cooke and Rev. Dennis Hoffmanofficiating.
Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands.

Hazel Leigh Lane
Hazel Leigh Lane, 91, of Raven, departed her earthly home to take residence in her Heavenly home July 30.
Born Dec. 5, 1914 in Berwind, WV, she was the daughter of the late William and Tina Strouth Elswick.
She had been a long time member of Clearview United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 104 of Richlands.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert R. (Ebb) Lane, Sr., two brothers, one sister, two infant sons and one infant granddaughter.
Survivors: sons, Elbert R. (Sonny) Lane, Jr. and wife, Lois, of Raven, Jackie Lee Lane and wife, Teresa, of Gastonia, NC; three grandsons; two granddaughters; one step granddaughter; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Paul Griffith officiating.
Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Eastern Star rites were held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the funeral home.

Gary Ernest Leake
Gary Ernest Leake, 46, of the Tunnel Hill area of Cucumber, WV, died July 25 at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV.
Born Sept. 6, 1959 in McDowell County, WV, he was a son of the late Raymond Leake and Sylvia Hicks Leake.
He was of the Holiness faith. He attended Big Creek High School. His first employment at age 16 was at Jones & Spry Co. in War, WV. He later worked in coal mining at Gary 14 mine. His latest employment was with Lackawnna Leather and Halstead Industries of Conover, NC.
Survivors: son, Gary Ernest Leake, Jr. of Flagstaff, AZ; sisters, Junie Burke and husband, Donald, of Cucumber, Sharon Leake of Georgetown, SC; brother, Jessie Leake and wife, Linda, of Georgetown; girlfriend, Donna Harman of Squire, WV; aunt, Ethel Baker of Cucumber; nieces, Angel Rasnake, Monica Mitchell, Michele Cook, Starnette Leake, Latisha Leake, Ginny Leake, and Amanda Leake; nephews, Robbie Mitchell and Bud Muncy; great niece, Larissa Leake; great nephews, David, Frank, Skyler, Auston, Joseph, and Gabriel; and numerous cousins and friends.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. July 29 at the Berwind Revival Center with the Rev. Hobert Cook, Rev. Roger Hicks, and the Rev. Kathleen Stanley officiating.
Burial followed at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV.

Mary Louise Lively
Mary Louise Lively, affectionately known as Mama Mary, 84, of Princeton, WV, formerly of Lindside, WV, and Peterstown, WV, died July 29 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton.
Born June 5, 1922 at Lindside, she was the daughter of the late George and Roxie Harvey Dunn.
She was a homemaker, former employee of the Celanese Corp. and devoted most of her life working with children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Roscoe P. Dunn; two sisters-in-law, Beda Dunn and Alta Dunn; and one niece, Mabel Sue Madeson.
Survivors: loving husband of 53 years, Ernest Lively; twin daughters, Drema Burleson and husband, Richard, of Statesville, NC, Dorothy Tatum and husband, Henry, of Tazewell; sister-in-law, Wilma Dunn of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery and Rev. Bill Wyrick officiating.
Burial followed at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Helen Arwood Martin
Helen Arwood Martin, 71, of the Martin Mountain section of Drill, died July 27 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Jan. 22, 1935 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Tim and Rose Shortt Arwood.
She spent her early life in the area prior to moving to Cleveland, OH, and then moving back to Martin Mountain in 1991.She was a member of the Outreach Temple Church in Wysor Valley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Martin, June 29, 2006; one brother, Carl Arwood; and four sisters, Hazel Street, Bea Miller, Lois Cook and Edgar Patton.
Survivors: daughters, Judy Deskins of Lebanon, Patty Price of Rowe; sons, Joe Martin of Honaker, Billy Martin and Teddy Martin, both of Rowe; brothers, Lawrence Arwood of Honaker, Rev. Arvil Arwood, and Roy Arwood, both of Rowe; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. July 30 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Arvil Arwood officiating.
Interment followed in Martin Cemetery on Stinson’s Ridge.

Ferrel Walter Pinion
Ferrel Walter Pinion, 77, of Raven, died July 29 at his home.
Born in Swords Creek, he was the son of the late Pled and Callie Vance Pinion, both of Swords Creek.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of Clearview United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, June Pinion, Virginia Pinion, and Frances Smith, and two brothers, Estil Pinion and Arnold Pinion.
Survivors: loving wife, Ada Smith Pinion; daughter, Teresa Thompson and husband, Wayne, of Raven; sons, David Pinion and wife, Joyce, and Wayne Pinion and wife, Cheryl, all of Raven; brother, Porter Pinion and wife, Helen, of Bucyrus, OH; sisters, Irene Honaker, Lorene Musselwhite, Lucy Smith and husband, Audrey, and Ruth Strouth and husband, Gene, all of Bucyrus; sister-in-law, Edna Pinion of Mansfield, OH; brother-in-law, Roger Smith of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Sherry Pinion Breeding, Jonathan Pinion, Nick Pinion, Chris Pinion, and Matthew Thompson; and special caregiver, Neica Stiltner.

Kendall P. Robinson
Kendall P. Robinson, 66, of Cedar Bluff, died July 26 at his home.
Born Aug. 8, 1939 in Pilgrim Knob, he was the son of the late Luther Ellis and Evelyn Dorton Robinson.
He was a graduate of the class of 1958 of Whitewood High School and was a United States Army Veteran. He was a former employee of United Coal Company and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Robinson and Dale Robinson.
Survivors: wife, Shirley Cole Robinson; children, Jeff Robinson and wife, Tina, of Bluefield, VA, Keisha Robinson of Greenville, SC, Kendall P. Robinson II of Kingsport, TN, Michea Prescott and husband, John, of Pulaski, Michael Robinson and wife, Cindy, of Lexington, KY, Dana Robinson and fiancée, Carla Dale, of Bluefield, VA; brothers, Kyle Robinson and wife, Edith, of Whitewood, Karl Robinson and wife, Jean, of Piney Flats, TN, Nathan Robinson and wife, Donna, of Cedar Bluff, Mark Robinson and wife, Linda, of Winter Haven, FL; special sister-in-law, Janice Robinson of Lynchburg; and 15 grandchildren.

Troy Justin Smith
Troy Justin Smith, 34, of Alabster, went home to be with his Lord July 26 in Birmingham, AL, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He lived a life of self-sacrifice toward God, his family and friends. He served First Baptist Church of Pelham as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He taught Computer Science at Spain Park High School. He loved running and biking and was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech.
He was awarded the Robert Finley Award by the Hoover City School System for excellence of character in 2006 and was nominated for the Jacksonville State Teacher Hall of Fame, where he was one of the top five finalist in the state.
He was preceded in death by one son, Zachary Justin Smith.
Survivors: wife, Shanna Smith; sons, Isaiah and Jonah Smith; daughter, Hannah Grace Smith; father and mother, Basil and Diane Smith of Helena; brother, Todd (Lena) Smith of Helena; one niece; and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Pelham, 2867 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124.
The celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. July 29 at First Baptist Church of Pelham.
Interment followed at Southern Heritage Cemetery.

Retha Tiller
Retha Tiller, 65, of Council, died July 25 at a Richlands hospital.
Born May 21, 1941 in Council, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Earl Tiller and Mary Marie Wilson Tiller.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Freewill Baptist faith and had attended Russell Fork Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Randall Clayton Tiller and Ricky Tiller, and one daughter, Teresa Marie Tiller.
Survivors: husband of 50 years, Clayton Tiller; daughter, Loretha Barton and husband, Gary, of Council; step-son, Daniel Duty and wife, Nina, of Davenport; grandsons, Gary Clayton Barton and wife, Teresa, and Ricky Wayne Barton, all of Council; granddaughter, Kelly Christina Bostic and husband, Billy, of Council; step-grandson, Daniel Duane Duty of Davenport; sister, Lois Edwards of Birchleaf; brothers, Swanson Tiller of Claypool Hill, Willis Tiller of Council, Raymond Tiller of Holston Lake, and Ronald Tiller and wife, Elsie, of Breaks; great-grandsons, Dustin Clayton Barton, Brandon Craig Barton, and Michael Cody Bostic; great-granddaughters, Sadie Lenea Barton, Sarah Marie Barton, and Alexia Paige Bostic; step-great-granddaughter, Samantha Morgan Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment followed in the Clayton Tiller Family Cemetery at Council.

Julie Stuart Anderson
Julie Stuart Anderson, 52, of Bastian, went home to rest in the arms of Jesus Aug. 5 at Giles Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1953 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of Donald Forbes of Covington and Anne S. Forbes of Roanoke.
She was a longtime member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tazewell. She was a graduate of Radford University and had been a volunteer with the Historic Crab Orchard Museum. She was a home schooling mother who home schooled her children through graduation and was in the process of educating her third child.
Additional survivors: husband, Doug Anderson; daughter, Alana Anderson of the home; sons, Andrew Anderson and Alexander Anderson, both of the home; brother, Michael Forbes of Salem; and sister, Karen Kollech.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Henry Johnson officiating.
Burial followed at the Anderson Family Cemetery at Grapefield.

Gregory Ray Bryant
Gregory Ray Bryant, 52, of Roanoke, formerly of Tazewell, died July 31 at Avante Nursing Home in Roanoke.
Born at Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late William "Bill" Vernon Bryant, Sr. and Wilma Jean Price Bryant.
He had made his home in Roanoke for the past nine years and before that in Tazewell. He was disabled all his life. He had attended Dunford Town Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Vernon Bryant, Jr.
Survivors: aunt, Margie Gibson of Tazewell; uncles, Bobby Price of North Tazewell, Frank Price of Bishop; and several cousins.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 2 at 12:30 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Tazewell with Brother Wayne Poston officiating.
Interment followed at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA.

Nina Sharon Carroll
Nina Sharon Carroll, 65, of Richlands, died Aug. 6 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born Sept. 10, 1940 in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Raleigh Houchins and Della Smith Osborne.
She was a member of Raven Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jettie Shelton.
Survivors: daughters, Tammy Elswick and Ginger Elswick, both of Lebanon, Susan Michelle Sawyers of Bluefield, WV, Vickie Lassiter of West Point; son, Johnny Wesley Carroll of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Joseph Elswick, Kimberly Carroll, Wesley Johnson, Amanda Pierce, Martin Pierce and Ryan Carroll; brother, Jack Horton and wife, Connie, of Cedar Bluff; and sister, Betty Leonard and husband, E.W., of Abingdon.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Raven Assembly of God Church at Raven with Rev. Barry Absher officiating.

Betty Josephine Day
Betty Josephine Horn Day, 73, of the Chicken Ridge section of Jewell Ridge, went to be with the Lord Aug. 2 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Whitewood, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Brassie McKinney Horn, both Buchanan County natives.
She was a graduate of Whitewood High School, Class of 1951, and was a former Deli supervisor for the Acme Supermarket at Doran. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was of the Presbyterian faith and had resided in the area for 55 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy White, Mable Ratcliff, Georgia Brown, and one grandson, Joshua Day.
Survivors: loving husband, Vincent Day of Chicken Ridge; daughter, Connie Keene and husband, Gerald, of Pinnacle, NC; sons, Randy Day and wife, Susan, of Rural Hall, NC, Greg Day and wife, Diane, of Millbrook, AL, Andrew Day and wife, Susan, of Advance, NC; sister, Watie Cantrell of Richlands; brother, Tommy Horn, of Richlands; grandchildren, Matthew Keene, William Day, Jacob Day, Dusty Joyce, Sarah Jo Day, Nora Stacy Day and Gabby Ruth Day; special friends, Home Nursing Company, Wanda Martin; and sister-in-law Gladys Horn.

Internment followed at the Day Family Cemetery located on Chicken Ridge near Jewell Ridge.

Judy Layne Ferrell
Judy Layne Ferrell, 64, of Richlands, died Aug. 2 at her home.
Born Jan. 19, 1942 in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of Flornie Baldwin Ferrell of Tazewell and the late Boyd Ferrell.
She was a graduate of Bluefield State College and Radford Teacher’s College. She was a retired school teacher from the Russell County School System. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a half brother, Harvey Ferrell.
Additional survivors: sisters, Eloise Scott and husband, Johnny, of Front Royal, Sharon Ferrell Hurley and husband, Bob, of Looney Creek; brother, Roger Ferrell and wife, Shirley, of Claypool Hill; helpful and loving friend, Joyce White of Richlands; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Robert E. Gilley
Robert E. Gilley, 75, of New Richmond, WV, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 5, after a long hard fought battle.
Born July 8, 1931, at Davy, WV, he was the son of the late Earl Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Bailey Gilley.
He was a retired coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Eugene Gilley.

The service was conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel in Pineville, WV, with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating.
Burial followed in Gilley Family Cemetery, Clear Fork, WV.

Elizabeth Ann Hale
Elizabeth Ann Buckland Hale, 64, of Honaker, died Aug. 5 in a Richlands hospital.
Born April 4, 1942 in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Palmer J. "P.J." and Nasba Geneva Wheatley Buckland.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1959 graduate of Honaker High School. She was formerly employed at Tillers/Big M Discount Store for over 30 years and had most recently worked at K-Mart for three years. She attended Valley View Freewill Baptist Church in Honaker.
Survivors: husband of 44 years, Luther Winford "L.W." Hale; daughters, Brenda Jean Hale and T.J. Baumgart, Nancy Leanora Keen and husband, Tim, and Karen Ann Lowe and husband, Terry, all of Honaker; grandchildren, Jacob Nathaniel Coleman and Allie Elizabeth Lowe; step-granddaughter, Kayla Keen; brother, David Buckland and wife, Charo of Elkton, MD; special friends, Sarah Love McReynolds and Betty and Bill Stevens; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Taylor, Rev. Steve Perkins and Rev. Clyde Rose officiating.
Graveside services were conducted at 12 noon Aug. 8 at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill.
Interment followed.

Roy C. Hess
Roy C. Hess, 82, of Kingsport, TN, formerly of Raven, died Aug. 6.
Born April 7, 1924 in Russell County, he was the son of the late Charles Robert and Jessie Fitzgerald Hess.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired foreman miner for Island Creek VP #2.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Jenny) Vandyke Hess; one son, Ronnie Hess; six brothers, Johnny Hess, Cleotus Hess, Paul Hess, Clarence Hess, Richard Hess and Columbus Hess; and two sisters, Ollie Coleman and Beulah Keene.
Survivors: daughters, Ruth Anne Vandyke of Kingsport, TN, Faye Fitzwater of Norfolk, Judy Bradshaw of Richlands; sons, Jerry Hess of Hurley, Cecil Hess of Richlands; brothers, Winfred Hess of Paintlick, Ervin Hess of West Kavina, CA; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Stafford Compton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill.
Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 a.m. Aug. 10.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the funeral home.

Mary Margaret Johnson
Mary Margaret Johnson, 86, of the Big Creek section of Richlands, died Aug. 1 in a Lebanon retirement home.
Born in Mayberry, WV, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Rurie Hickman Crigger.
She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life and was a member of West Fork Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Johnson, and four sisters, Gertrude C. Shell, Anne Copper, Dickie Crigger, and Hazel Crigger Lane.
Survivors: daughters, Sarah Sluss and husband, Joe, of Gray, TN, Wanda Wade and husband, Robert, of Loganville, GA, Linda Whitt and husband, Herman, of Ashland, Betty Lee Lane and husband, Jim, of Jonesboro, TN; sons, Ken Johnson and wife, Sarah, of Abingdon, Raymond Johnson and wife, Juanita, of Richlands, Danny (Butch) Johnson and wife, Linda, of Salem; sister, Dorothy Frazier of Kingsport, TN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Rick Herald and Rev. Bill Fletcher officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.

Freda Kay Justice
Freda Kay Justice, 49, of Rosedale, died Aug. 1 in a Lebanon hospital.
Born March 4, 1957 in Richlands, she was a daughter of Alice McCloud Justice of the home and the late Billy Junior Justice.
A lifelong resident of the area, she had moved to Rosedale three years ago from the River Mountain section of Honaker. She was a 1975 graduate of Honaker High School and was currently employed by Lear Corporation. She was a member of Blackford United Methodist Church and currently attended Honaker United Methodist Church.
Additional survivors: brothers, Lynn Justice and wife, Barbara, of Rosedale, Jeff Justice and wife, Erin of Bristol, VA; nieces, Cyndi Whited and Abbie Elizabeth Justice; nephew, Adam Justice; and grand-nephew, Peyton Whited.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jody Breeding officiating.
Interment followed in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon.
