Roy Lybold

Roy Lybold, 70, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.
He was born February 15, 1932 in Belle Center to George and Marie (Miller) Lybold.
He first married Rosemary Hofer and she is deceased. He married Emma Mae Craig on July 29, 2000 and she survives in Ada.
Also surviving is a daughter, Bonnie (Chris) Friend of Lima; three stepsons: Glen (Jan) Williams of Lima; Dean Williams of Tucson, AZ; and Vaughn (Debra) Williams of Florence, SC.; eight step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Miller and Delores Hanthorn and one brother, Bill Lybold.
He retired from Dot Truck Line as a truck driver. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada and attended the Ada Church of Christ Disciples. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 908 and a member of the Eagles, as well as the Fraternal Order of Aeries #370 of Lima. He was also a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533 and a member of he Springbrook Gardens Dance Club.
Services were held September 16 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Jerry Craig officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Shirley A. Willeke
Died: Saturday, September 7, 2002
Shirley A. Willeke, 64, of Dola, died Saturday, September 7, 2002 at her residence.
She was born January 27, 1938 in Hardin County, to Earl and Imo (Crooks) Boecher.
On February 2, 1958, she married Lowell Willeke, who survives in Dola after 44 years of marriage.
Other survivors include a son, Timothy (Susan) Willeke of Westerville; two daughters: Debra (Robert) Bollinger of Plain City and Connie Willeke of Perryburg; three grandchildren: Adam Bollinger of Plain City and twins - Amy and Scott Bollinger of Plain City; and a sister, Wilma (Wilbur) Willeke of Ada.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Willeke.
Mrs. Willeke retired after 22 years from Hardin Northern Local Schools as the Assistant Treasurer.
She graduated from Hardin Northern High School in 1956. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dola.
Services were held on Wednesday, September 11 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dola with Pastor Jeffrey Elmquist officiating.
Burial was in Dola Cemetery, Dola.

Avanelle V. Huff

Avanelle V. Huff, 61, of Alger, died Thursday, September 5, 2002 at her residence.
She was born on May 22, 1941 in Hardin County, to Bailey and Bessie (Moore) Fierabend.
Survivors include two sons: Chalres Edward (Viola) Huff of Alger and William Earl Huff of Alger; a daughter, Jackie Lynn (Tim) Deters of Ottawa; three grandchildren: Stacy Deters of Ottawa, Matthew Deters of Ottawa, and Nichole Huff of Alger; two sisters: Dixie Jean (John) Hunt of Alger and Carol Ann (Willard) Hipsher of McCutchensville, Ohio.
Mrs. Huff retired after 40 years as a nurse. Avanelle had worked at the Gulf Coast Center in Florida. She was a member of the Flat Branch Church of Christ in McGuffey. She also worked at the Lima State Hospital as a nurse.
Services were held on Saturday, September 7 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. Tom Kahley officiating.
Burial was in Norman Cemetery, Kenton.

Ronald O. Barnes
Died: Tuesday, September 3, 2002
Ronald O. Barnes, 66, of Ada, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at his residence.
He was born October 16, 1935 in Hardin County, to Mack and Thelma L. (Freshcorn) Barnes.
On August 15, 1954, he married Janis L. Smith, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include two sons: Ronald Keith (Cheri) Barnes of Huntsville, and Jeff Barnes and fiance� Maria Pallett of Marshall, Michigan; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Barnes of Battle Creek, Michigan, Seth Barnes of Huntsville, Allison Barnes of Huntsville, and Erika Barnes of Ada; a brother, Joe Barnes of Ada; and a sister, Patty (Roger) Burkholder of Bryan.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Leroy Max Barnes.
Mr. Barnes retired in 1996 from Cole Motor Sales, Inc. after working there for 40 years.
He was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ, McGuffey. He was a graduate of Roundhead High School in 1953.
At his request there will be an immediate cremation with no funeral service or visitation.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Claude Greer
Died: Monday, September 2, 2002
Claude Greer, 68, of Alger, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born May 13, 1934 in Prestonburg, Kentucky, to Ballard and Linda (Meade) Greer, both of whom are deceased.
On September 26, 1953 he married Vernice Compton, and she survives in Alger.
Other survivors include a son, Claude "Steve" (Jean) Greer of Ada; four brothers: Harold (Jean) Greer of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Burl (Joan) Greer of Findlay, Alvin (Julie) Greer of ElCajon, Calif., and Melvin Greer of Kenton; seven sisters: Phyllis (Chris) Barrientos of Red Boiling Spring, Tenn., Sylvia (John) VanAtta of Williamstown, Ohio, Gwen (Paul) Crowe of Williamstown, Ohio, Marlene (Ray) Hurt of Kenton, Neola (Richard) Zechman of Sturgis, Mich., Geraline (Ross) Draper of Forest, and Audry Greer of Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren: Heather Greer of Cridersville, Robert Greer of Fremont, and Emily Greer of Ada; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Rose Saunders, and the first great-grandson is expected in November.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Merlin Ray Greer, Carl Dean Greer and Adonis Greer.
Mr. Greer retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. in Findlay after 30 years. He was a private pilot for 37 years. He was owner and operator of Greer Motor Sales of Alger throughout the 1980's. He was an avid fisherman. He and his wife spent the winter months in Leesburg, Florida.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 5 at 11 a.m. at the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger, with Rev. James Holbrook, Rev. A. B. Rowe, and
Rev. Tony Lyon officiating.
Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call on the family from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

June A. Polter
Died: Monday, August 26, 2002
June A. Polter, 77, of Ada, died Monday, August 26, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 5, 1925 in Jackson Township, Allen County, to Weldon and Lucille (Copeland) Parlette.
On May 16, 1943, she married Robert O. Polter, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include two sons: Dennis L. (Mary) Polter of Grand Rapids, Ohio and Ted (Sue) Polter of Loveland; and four grandchildren: Lisa (Ray) Tennant of Amherst, New Hampshire, Matthew (Tammy) Polter of Delaware, Kurt Polter of Lebanon, and Keith Polter of Loveland.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Parlette.
Mrs. Polter was a very hard-working farm wife and homemaker.
She was a member of the Southside Christian Church of Lima and also attended the First United Methodist Church of Ada. She was a Sunday School teacher for 23 years at the Southside Christian Church.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School in 1943 and a graduate of the Northwest Business College.
June was also a member of the Jackson Grange and a member of the Ohio Polka Boosters. A number of her hobbies included: needlework, playing the organ, shell collecting, she loved to travel and was very fond of dancing.
June was an extremely caring person who took the time to reach out and remember others. June was a loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Wayne Albertson and Rev. Doug Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday, August 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and until the time of the services on Friday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.

Flossie B. Holbrook

Flossie B. Holbrook, 100, of Ada, died Saturday, August 24, 2002, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.
She was born June 26, 1902 in Floyd County, Kentucky, to Andrew Jackson and Mahala (Music) Snavely.
On February 10, 1921, she married Jessie Holbrook, and he died July 19, 1995.
Survivors include a sister, Lora Mae Derossett of Reading, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Holbrook was a homemaker. She was a member of the Auglaize United Baptist Church of Maysville.
Services were held on Tuesday, August 27 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Russell Manns and Rev. Willie Collins officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Diana Kay Aguirre
Died: Sunday, August 18, 2002
Diana Kay Aguirre, 35, of Alger, died Sunday, August 18, 2002 on State Route 235 due to an accident.
She was born September 13, 1966 in Kenton, to John and Melinda E. (Nichols) Bailey. Her father and step-mother, John and Wilma Bailey, survive in Alger. Her mother and step-father, Melinda and Michael Carpenter, survive in Huntsville, Ohio.
She first married Robert Leiber and they are divorced. Mr. Leiber survives in Alger. She later, on February 19, 2001, married John "David" Aguirre, and he survives in Columbus Grove.
Other survivors include a son, Jeremiah D. Leiber of Alger; a daughter, Ashley N. Leiber of Alger; two brothers: Johnny D. Bailey of Ada and Thad Bailey of McGuffey; two sisters: Jackie Bailey of Bellefontaine and Angie (Joseph) Freytag of Alger; her maternal grandmother, Doris M. Nevers of Bellefontaine; her paternal grandmother, Maxine Patrick of Alger; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Otis Bailey.
Mrs. Aguirre was a homemaker. She attended the Victory Chapel of Praise in rural Alger. She was a graduate of the Upper Scioto Valley High School in 1985.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastors David and Sandra Schneer officiating.
Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call on the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21 and until time of service on Thursday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.

Christine Louise Fish

Christine Louise Fish, 57, of Dunkirk, died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at her residence.
She was born August 29, 1944 in Bucyrus, to Eugene O. and Eleanor L. (Mowery) Bower. Her father is deceased and her mother survives in Upper Sandusky.
On August 13, 1966 in Upper Sandusky, she married Kenneth D. Fish, who survives in Dunkirk.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lisa Fish of Kenton; a sister, Jane (Michael) Richards of Bluffton; and a brother, Stephen (Alice) Bower of Claridon.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brian.
Mrs. Fish was a former teacher. She was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and Bluffton College.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Kenton. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 366 in Upper Sandusky.
Services were held Wednesday, August 21 at Price Funeral Home, Dunkirk, with Pastor Tom Hite officiating.
Burial was in Dunkirk Cemetery.

Gregory A. Guinn

Gregory A. Guinn, 44, of Kenton, died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at his residence.
He was born March 1, 1958 in Dayton, to Roy B. and Rosemary (Smith) Guinn. His father survives in Dayton. His mother is deceased.
Other survivors include a daughter, Desiree Curtsinger of Springfield; a son, Joey (Anita) Guinn of Springfield; four grandchildren: Jordan Guinn, Michael Curtsinger, Zachary Curtsinger, and Spencer Guinn; his significant other, Cathy M. Guinn of Lakeview; a brother, Gary Guinn of Dayton; and many aunts and uncles.
Mr. Guinn was a buck skinner.
Services will be held on Friday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Van Horn Funeral Home, 115 N. Main, Lakeview.

will be in Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville.

Ruth Elizabeth Kay

Ruth Elizabeth Kay, 94, of St. Mary's and formerly of Ada, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Otterbein of St. Mary's.
She was born October 8, 1907 in Elyria, to Frank P. and Anne (Henson) Blakeslee.
On January 18, 1927 she married George G. Kay, and he died on December 1, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters: Ruth (Charles Tom) Cassell of Ada, and Mary Lou (James) Nay of Zelienople, Penn.; a sister, Anna Mae Fisher of Norwalk, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Thomas Cassell, Denise Walsh, Mark Nay, Marilee Beebe, Laura Yarzebinski, James Nay, Beth Howard, and Amy Fixis; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Frank, Howard, Harold and Russell Blakeslee; and a sister, Harriett Shoulter.
Mrs. Kay was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 60 years and had been active in the United Methodist Women.
Services were held on Saturday, August 3 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Pat Searfoss officiating.
A memorial service was held for family in Norwalk, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 7.
Burial was in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio, at the discretion of the family.

Orville Prater

Orville Prater, 73, of Middlepoint, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at VanWert County Hospital.
He was born January 29, 1929 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to Newte and Essie (Holbrook) Prater.
On October 10, 1952 he married Ruth Thatcher, who survives in Middlepoint.
Other survivors include three brothers: Luther Prater of California, Hershel (Eileen) Prater of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Don (Helen) Prater of Cleveland, Georgia.
Mr. Prater was in charge of Ward 21 at Lima State Hospital. He was a member of the Auglaize United Baptist Church, Maysville.
Services were held Sunday, August 4 at the Auglaize United Baptist Church, Maysville, with Rev. Russell Manns and Rev. Willy Collins officiating. Funeral home in charge of arrangements was Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Elizabeth Prine Ross

Elizabeth Prine Ross, 74, of Harrod, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born September 5, 1927 in Hardin County, to Louis Poe and Hazel (Ford) Patrick.
She married Richard Prine on April 23, 1949 and he died on October 27, 1975. She then married Rodney Ross on April 3, 1981 and he died on March 7, 1992.
Survivors include two sons: Stephen (Sherry) Prine of Ostrander, Ohio, and Thomas (Jackie) Prine of Harrod; four grandchildren: Staci Prine of Sidney, Scott Prine of Delaware, Ohio, Ric (Christina) Prine of Kenton, and Jayna (Jason) Fry of Harrod; two great-grandchildren: Abbey Fry of Harrod, and Lindsay Fry of Harrod; eight step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Prine.
Mrs. Ross worked for the West Ohio Gas Co.; was a store clerk for Adams Market in Alger for 25 years; and later was a secretary for the Highway Oil Co.
She graduated from Alger High School and attended Ohio Northern University for two years. She was a member of the West Newton Methodist Church and she was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Alger Royal Neighbors. She was also a member and past president of the West Newton Garden Club for 25 years.
Services were held Friday, August 2 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating.
Burial was in Roundhead Cemetery, Roundhead.
