Phillip R. Gilmore
Died: Monday, November 11, 2002
Phillip R. Gilmore, 68, of Maumee passed away peacefully on November 11, 2002 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, his loving family by his side, after a long struggle with emphysema.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1934 to Mary and Benjamin Gilmore. Phil grew up in Ada, OH. and graduated in 1952. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Texas and Louisiana. On returning home to Ada, he worked briefly at Lenox Furnace in Lima, then opened his own Model Raceways in Fremont and Bowling Green. In 1968 he started work at Surface Combustion, taking various positions, the most recent being electrical purchasing agent until retiring in 1999.
Phil's greatest loves were his family and Ohio State football. Granddaughters Alexa and Madison were his sunshine. Phil was preceded in death by his first wife Emily Ann (Cribley), son Jeffrey Lynn, sister Johana Mallow, mother Mary Burke, father Benjamin Gilmore, and step mother Marion Gilmore. He leaves behind his loving wife Kathleen A.(Stewart) of 30 years, his children Cindy M. and Susan of Toledo, Kathleen R. (Dan) Reis of Maumee, Thomas R. of Boston, Phillip J. and his special love Jadey of Albany, OH.
Visitation will be in the Peinert Funeral Home 7220 Dutch Road Waterville, OH from 2-9 p.m. Thursday November 14, 2002. A Memorial Service will be held at the Haskins Federated Church Haskins, OH.on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Mary Wood officiating.
The family would like to give special thanks to Frank Vereecke and Larry Koepplinger, his best buddies. They also would like to thank Corry and Julie Ann of NW Ohio Hospice for their loving, compassionate care. Daisy Rayl
Died: Monday, November 11, 2002
Daisy Rayl, 67, of Lima, died November 11, 2002 at her residence.
She was born on April 22, 1935 in Lima, to Clifford E. M. and Eunice Exline VanDyke.
On December 18, 1953, she married Elmer G. Rayl, who survives in Lima.
Other survivors include a son, Adam H. (Tina) Rayl of Elida; a daughter, Connie (Roger) Hoffer of Bluffton; five brothers: Willis VanDyke of Lima, Raymond VanDyke of Lima, Donald (Louise) VanDyke of Springfield, Oregon, Gerald (Lavina) VanDyke of Delphos, and Richard (Lou) VanDyke of Temple, Texas; two sisters: Maxine Cope of Claramont, New Hampshire, and Virginia (Vernon) Stebleton of Lima; seven grandchildren: Adrianna and Zach Hoffer; Brittany, Roy, Tyler, Bethany and Amber Rayl.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronald, Chesney and Paul VanDyke; and by a sister, Myrtle Crow.
Mrs. Rayl was a homemaker. She attended County Line Church of the Brethren & First Missionary Church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15 at Chiles & Sons-Laman Wayne St. Chapel, Lima, with Rev. David Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Hasson Cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call on the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 14 at Chiles & Sons-Laman Wayne St. Chapel, Lima.

Brian A. Motter
Died: Sunday, November 10, 2002
Brian A. Motter, 27, of Lima, died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born July 17, 1975 in Lima, to Alan and Jarilyn (Stoll) Motter, both of whom survive in Elida.
Other survivors include three sisters: Karen (Brian) Lecurgo of Elida, Mary (Joe) Jones of Lima, and Deborah (Davit) Steele of Lewisville, TX; a paternal grandmother, Louise Motter of Cridersville; his maternal grandparents, Calvin and Audre Crouse of Ada; and two nephews: Kody Lecurgo and Keegan Jones.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Venard W. Motter and by a niece, Kelci Amber Lecurgo.
Brian worked for Marimor Industries. He graduated from Marimor on May 30, 1997. He was a resident of Champaign Residential Services, formerly Mary Ann Brown.
Services will be held Thursday, November 14 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Nichols officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call on the family Wednesday, November 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, and on Thursday, November 14 one hour prior to services at Pilgrim Holiness Church.

Joshua E. Walters
Died: Friday, November 8, 2002
Joshua E. Walters, 14, of Lima, died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Children's Hospital, Columbus.
He was born August 5, 1988 in Kenton, to James Walters, who survives in Kenton, and his mother and step-father, Amy (Dyer) and John Longbrake, who survive in Lima.
Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Chalmer and Bessie Dyer of Alger; paternal grandparents, Bob and Jackie Johnson of Richwood; paternal great-grandmother, Maggie Hedricks of Richwood; a step-brother, Joshua (Ginny) Longbrake of Vaughnsville; two half-brothers: Jamie Walters of LaGrange, GA and Brandon Walters of LaGrange, GA; a sister, Roxanna Dyer of Lima; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and two nephews.
Joshua attended the Shekinah Temple in St. Marys. He was an honorary member of the Bath High School football and basketball teams.
Services were held Tuesday, November 12 at Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God in Alger with Rev. Tony Lyon and Rev. Judy Ball officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Cecil Wright
Died: Thursday, November 7, 2002
Cecil Wright, 84, of Ada, died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.
He was born April 27, 1918 in Powelltown, West Virginia, to Birl and Clora (Hall) Wright.
On August 4, 1951, he married Maredia Allen, and she died October 15, 1999.
Survivors include three brothers: Wilkie (Susie) Wright of Belle Center, Harold (Mary Ann) Wright of Harrod, and Arnold (Betty) Wright of Harrod; two sisters: Emogene Fletcher of Ada and Carmie (Robert) Peavler of Bowie, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darvin D. Wright in 1987; two brothers: Robert Wright and Okie Wright; and by a sister, Ocie Spradlin.
Mr. Wright retired from Sheller Globe, Superior Coach Division as a Forklift Operator after 35 years.
He was an active member of the Ark of the Covenant Baptist Church in Lima.
Services were held Sunday, November 10 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Eddie Wireman officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

John F. Ramsey
Died: Tuesday, November 5, 2002
John F. Ramsey, 75, of Richmond, Indiana and formerly of Ridgeway and Ada, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Dayton VA Medical Center.
He was born March 13, 1927 in Ridgeway, to Bird and Maud (Doan) Ramsey.
On February 17, 1952, he married Shirley Hatchett, who survives in Kenton.
Other survivors include three daughters: Carol (Jim) Clever of Croton, Brenda (Daryl) Reck of Covington, and Rebecca (Mike) Harkness of Indianapolis, IN; two sons: Gary Ramsey of Dola and Douglas (Denise) Ramsey of Ridgeway; seven grandchildren; and two brothers: Paul (Shirley) Ramsey of Kenton and Ralph (Lucille) Ramsey of Florida, formerly of Marysville.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Ramsey was a farmer and former owner of the Ada Motel. He was a member of the Ridgeway Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion. He was an Army Veteran, serving in WWII.
Services were held Friday, November 8 at Price Funeral Home, Mt. Victory, with Rev. Paul Ramsey officiating.
Burial was in Ridgeway Cemetery.

John W. Spurlock
Died: Monday, November 4, 2002
John W. Spurlock, 85, Lima, Ohio died Monday, November 4, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 18, 1917, in Hardin County to Grover and Ruth (Wenta)Spurlock, who both preceded him in death.
He Married Willie Marie Adams on November 20, 1943 and she survives him.
He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Hilliard of Eaton Rapids MI.
Mr. Spurlock was also preceded in death by tow brothers; Harold and Grover Spurlock and one sister, Helen Pitcher.
He worked as a foreman with Sheller Globe-Superior Coach for 40 years.
He will have a private family entombment at Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Howard Allison officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangments are being handled by Chiles & Son-Layman, Lewis Chapel.
Helen M. McClure
Died: Friday, November 1, 2002
Helen M. McClure, 86, of Ada, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at Country Court Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
She was born December 13, 1915 in Jenera, Ohio to Michael and Desda (Charlton) Doersam who both preceded her in death.
She married Ray J. McClure on April 12, 1936 who also preceded her in death on March 26, 1987.
She is survived by one son; Raymond "Gene" (Karen) McClure of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, one daughter, Judith (Richard) Lasko, of Ada, two brothers, Alvin (Betty) Doersam of Leavittsburg, Ohio, and Chester Doersam, of Wharton Ohio, three sisters, Kathryn Smith, Ethel Klingler, Betty (Joe) Plummer, all of Ada, three sister-in-laws; Beatrice McClure, Lima, Irene Doersam, Lakeland FL, and Annabelle Doersam, Wharton, Ohio.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jackie (Ron) Green, Jody (Rick) Goetzman, Monica (Mike) Hunnicutt and Michael (Jill) McClure all of Mt. Vernon, Raelene (Joe) Meyer, Westerville, Ohio, Arlene (Scott) Allison, and Stephanie McClure of Ada, and Lindsey McClure of Honolulu, Hawaii.
She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren; Brittany , Brett, and Chelsea Hunnicutt; Ryan, Austin, Katelyn, Kacie, and Goetzman; Robby Allison; Mackenzie, Abbey, and Joshua McClure; Emma and Jack Meyer; and Eric, Nathanial McClure.
Mrs. McClure was preceded in death by one son, Dennis McClure, and four brothers; Donnel "Spiv", Olan "Pete", Jud, and Albert Doersam.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Ada.
She was a member of the Ada Athletic Boosters and a 1933 graduate of Ada High School.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada with Rev. Ronald Briggs officiating.
Burial was at St. Pauls Cemetery, Ada, Ohio.

Ruth I. Vermillion
Died: Friday, November 1, 2002
Ruth I. Vermillion, 94, of Alger, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at The Corinthain Nursing Home in Kenton.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1907 in Alger to Usher Perry Layton and Dora (Devers) Vermillion who both preceded her in death.
Miss Vermillion is survived by one niece, Shirley (Kirts) Blalock of Chula Vista, CA. and three great neices Julie Blalock of Chula Vista CA, Jena Snook of National City CA, and Kara (Michael) Pence of Bonita CA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; Reid, Ray, and Fred Vermillion and two sisters; Mary Kirts and Grace Weikle.
Vermillion was a registerd nurse for several years and did most of her training at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima.
She attended the Alger First United Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Alger High School.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Richard R. Marshall
Died: Saturday, October 26, 2002
Richard R. Marshall, 67, of Ada, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born November 22, 1934 in Ada, to Harold D. and Gladys M. (Purcell) Marshall.
On October 24, 1958 he married Grace R. Morgan, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a son, David Timothy Marshall of Ada; a step-daughter, Della Louise Fogle of Las Vegas, NV; and a sister, Jean (Jack) Boutwell of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Marshall and John Marshall.
Mr. Marshall worked at the Ada Post Office for 35 years and retired as the Ada Postmaster.
He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Ada Lions Club for several years. He was also a member of the Colonial Hills Golfers Club of Harrod. He was a graduate of Ada High School in 1952. He is a member of the Ada American Legion Post #185.
Services were held on Tuesday, October 29 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Dick Connor officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
