Everett Edwin "Ted" Hadley Jr.
Died: Saturday, December 22, 2001
Everett Edwin Ted Hadley Jr., 48, of Ada, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at his residence.
He was born January 15, 1953 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Had Everett Edwin and Carolyn (Walch) Hadley Sr., both of whom survive in Ada.
On June 16, 1978, he married Kristie Campbell, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a son, John Michael Hadley of Ada; three sisters: Susan (Scott) Hamilton of Wooster, Massachusetts, Karen (Scott) Keim of Corinth, Maine, and Lynn Hadley of Dayton; and two grandsons: Theodore Lee Hadley and Austin Michael Hadley, both of Ada.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hadley, who died in 1987.
Mr. Hadley sold insurance in Des Moines, Iowa; he then became manager of a coffee supply firm, Coffee Systems of Iowa; he sold real estate for Iowas Realty in Des Moines, Iowa for several years; he purchased and managed The Sports Page restaurant in Des Moines. He moved to Ada in 1991 and worked in Lima restaurants before joining the work force at Wilson's Sporting Goods in Ada.
He attended Parsons College and the University of Iowa before graduating from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a 1971 graduate of Fairfield, Iowa High School.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Findlay.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 27 at 11 a.m. in the English Chapel on the Ohio Northern University campus, with Rev. Elden Smith officiating.
Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, December 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.

Paul A. Burns
Died: Friday, December 21, 2001
Paul A. Burns, 51, of Harrod, died Friday, December 21, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born September 7, 1950 in Piqua, to Paul Lee and Virginia L. (Mabbitt) Burns. His mother, Virginia L. Wireman, survives in Harrod.
On June 25, 1987, he married Sharon L. Coomes, who survives in Harrod.
Other survivors include two sons: Paul Burns, Jr. and Jonathon Burns, both at home; three daughters: Tasha, Emily and Jessica Burns, all at home; three brothers: Dave (Millie) Wireman of Waynesfield, John Wireman, Jr. of Harrod, and Jay Wireman of Columbus; three sisters: Noreen (Mike) Smith of Harrod, Diane Bowen of Harrod, and Tammie Wireman of Lima.
He was preceded in death by the step-father who raised him, John Wireman.
Mr. Burns was a self-employed contractor. He attended Lafayette 1st United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 27 at 1 p.m. at Chiles & Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel with Pastor Mickey A. Kimball officiating.
Burial will be in Auglaize Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post #1275.
Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chiles & Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel.

Kenneth R. Myers Sr.
Died: Friday, December 21, 2001
Kenneth R. Myers Sr., 59, of Columbus Grove, died Friday, December 21, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born November 24, 1942 in Wapakoneta, to Harold and Essie Howard (Legg) Myers, both of whom are deceased.
On February 15, 1974 , he married Dorothy J. Dotty Smith.
Other survivors include three sons: Kenneth R. Russ (Laura) Myers of Ada, Steve D. (Dorothy) Myers of Lima, and Tom (Lisa) Myers of Huntsville, Ohio; a daughter, Judy L. (Lon) Brite of Ada; a brother, Max Myers of Fort Myers, Florida; a sister, Marlene LaMaster of Costa Mesa, California; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his dad who raised him, Paul Legg of Deshler, Ohio; and his ex-wife, Julie Brush.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Myers and a sister, Patty Myers.
Mr. Myers was a machinist at CBC (EZ-PAK), and previously worked at Sheller-Globe and Ex-Cello. He was a graduate of Ada High School. He was a member of Moose Lodge #199, the Eagles Aries #370, and enjoyed working outdoors on his pond. He was a veteran of the Ohio National Guard 148th Infantry.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 28 at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, with Rev. David Schneer officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post #1275.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Diabetes Clinic.

Anita M. Hawbecker
Died: Wednesday, December 19, 2001
Anita M. Hawbecker, 68, of Ada, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima.
She was born August 16, 1933 in Pine City, Minnesota, to Earl and Mae (Rosene) Luxmore, both of whom survive in Galesburg, Illinois.
On June 24, 1961, she married Byron L. Hawbecker, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include two daughters: Denise (Robert) Sutherland of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Melissa (Michael) Miller of Lima; a grand-daughter, Kendra Miller; three sisters: Virginia (John) Haun of Galesburg, Illinois, Delores (Phillip) Corbin of New Port Richey, Florida, and Betty (Robert) Dowd of Viola, Illinois.
Mrs. Hawbecker was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ada, where she was Church organist for over 20 years. She was a member and former President of the Church Women's Missionary Society. She also taught Sunday School and was a Bible School teacher. In 1952, she graduated from Knoxville Illinois High School. She worked for the A.S.C. Farm Administration for several years in Galesburg, Illinois. She then attended the University of Arizona for 1 1/2 years. While a student, she worked as a secretary in the Chemistry department. She also served one year as secretary to the President and the Chemistry Department at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois.
Services were held Saturday, December 22 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Jack Duffy officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ada.

Judge Edgar Lee Miller
Died: Wednesday, February 20, 2002
Judge Edgar Lee Miller, 78, of Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born March 19, 1923 in Rushslyvania, to Eugene and Laura (Titus) Miller, both of whom are deceased.
On August 7, 1949, he married Thelma Jeanne Dally of Ada, who survives in Bellefontaine.
Other survivors include a daughter, Janice Lee Miller of Bellefontaine.
In addition to practicing law, Judge Miller served as Probate and Juvenile Judge for Logan County for 12 years and 18 years as a member of the 3rd District Court of Appeals.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star of Bellefontaine. He was a member of the Masonic Temple in Bellefontaine and the Symposiarchs. He was a member of Community Growth. He was a graduate of Rushsylvania High School and was a veteran of the WWII and Korean Army.
Services were held Saturday, February 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine with Rev. William Zeller. Arrangements were handled by Eichholtz Inc. Funeral Homes.
Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery, Bellefontaine.
Memorial contirbutions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Masonic Temple.

Virginia M. Dirmeyer
Died: Monday, February 18, 2002
Virginia M. Dirmeyer, 73, of Kenton, died Monday, February 18, 2002 at her residence in Kenton.
She was born March 8, 1928 in Hardin County, to Ronald E. and Amy (Martin) Minter.
On September 2, 1945, she married Andrew (Andy) Dirmeyer, who survives in Kenton.
Other survivors include two daughters: Roxie (Denny) Hensel of Kenton and Kristie (Fred) Reichert of Ada; six grandchildren and a sister, Vivian Eibling of Kenton.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald E. Minter Jr., and Dwight Minter.
Mrs. Dirmeyer was a homemaker and former bookeeper for the Blanchard Elevator. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Dola and a member of the Grove 20 Service League Mothers Club. She was a former Merry Elves 4-H Advisor.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22 at Price Funeral Home, Kenton, with Pastors Jeff and Jennifer Elmquist officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, February 21 from 2-8 p.m.
Burial will be in Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardin Hospice Care or the Hardin County Cancer Society.

Charles E. Epley
Died: Wednesday, February 13, 2002
Charles E. Epley, 60, of Ada, died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at his residence in Ada.
He was born January 13, 1942 in Lima, to Ross and Evelyn (Parshall) Epley, who both survive in Ada.
Other survivors include his significant other, Sherry Dunson of Ada; a son, Philip (Carla) Epley of Ada; a daughter, Abby Parker of Lima; two brothers: Scott (Connie) Epley of Indian Lake and James (Dawn) Epley of Ada; a sister, Susan (Jon) Umphress of Ada; and three grandchildren: Jared Parker, Seth Epley and Danielle Parker.
Mr. Epley retired from Rockwell International, Kenton, in 1995 where he was a machinist. He worked part-time at the Super Wash in Ada, Bluffton, and Kenton.
Services were held Saturday, February 16 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Chaplain Dottie Kaiser officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Kate Wireman
Died: Tuesday, February 12, 2002
Kate Wireman, 83, of Lima, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at her residence in Lima.
She was born February 14, 1913 in Floyd County, KY, to Vinson and Vina (Wireman) Whitaker, both of whom are deceased.
On April 23, 1937, she married Henry Wireman, and he died on May 16, 1978.
Survivors include four sons: Merril (Betty) Wireman of Harrod, John (Dotty) Wireman of Ann Arbor, Mich., Dwight (Suk) Wireman of Waynesville, Missouri, and James Henry (Liz) Wireman of Belle Center; three daughters: Wava (Fred) Brickmann of Cape Coral, Flor., Anita (Jack) Morse of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Andrea (Charlie) Williams of Wapakoneta; a special friend and neighbor, Frances Nichols; three sisters: Grace Burk of Napoleon, Mich., Gertrude Wireman of Jerome, Mich., and Marjorie (Ralph) Stambaugh of Sarasota, Flor.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Wireman was a homemaker. She was a 1932 graduate of McGuffey High School.
Our family wishes to thank the nurses of St. Rita's Hospice for their warm and caring help, which allowed us to follow Mother's wish to remain in her home. Most of all, we wish to thank Frances Nichols for her many years of friendship and help with Mom.
Services were held on Friday, February 15 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. James Holbrook officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Dano Frank Snyder
Died: Saturday, February 9, 2002
Dano Frank Snyder, 63, of Harrod, died Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
He was born February 20, 1938 in Ohio City, Ohio, to George and Ruby Davis Snyder, both of whom are deceased.
On September 15, 1984, he married Mary Ellen Fisher, who survives in Harrod. He had been married to Nancy Jacobs, who survives in Lima.
Survivors include three sons: Richard (Carolyn) Snyder of Lima, Mike (Sharon) Snyder of Lima, and Dano F. Snyder, Jr. of Lima; four daughters: Carol Gipson of Salyersville, KY, Tammy (Tony) Vaughn of Ada, Melissa Missy (Casey) Workman of Lima, and Melony (Dave) Ford of Lima; two sisters-in-law: Dora Snyder of Lima and Barbara Snyder of New Hampshire, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and three special nieces: Ronda Reineke, Ronette Luchini and Rona Stauffer. Other survivors include an aunt, Darlene Joyce Dorossette of Mendon; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Roseanna and Edward Butler and their daughter, Becky, for being there in our time of need for moral support. Also survived by a special friend, Marge Dick for the same reason.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur and Ronald Snyder; a half-brother, Monty Snyder and two grandchildren.
Mr. Snyder retired from International Brake, Inc. in March 2000 after 13 years of service. Previous to that, he worked at Fisher's Cheese in Wapakoneta for 21 years. He was a groomer of race horses in his early teens and into his 20's. This interest in horses gave way to his avid desire to go to many county fairs' horse race events. He loved watching the Breeder's Cup and the Triple Crown races. he also watched stock car races. He was a member of the Auglaize Township Historical Society.
Private services will be held at a later date at the Hogenkamp-Straub Funeral Home, Lima, with Rev. Mark Weller officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

F. Marie Ream
Died: Thursday, February 7, 2002
F. Marie Ream, 89, of Bluffton, died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born May 29, 1912 in Allen County, to Otis and Ethel (Myer) LaRue.
She was married to Russell A. Ream from Aug. 1, 1932 to May 31, 1993.
Survivors include two sons: Larry R. (Imelda) Ream of Findlay and Ronald O. (Gail) Ream of Bowling Green; two daughters: Betty J. Basinger of Ashland and Nancy L. (Harold) Weidman of Bluffton; two brothers: George LaRue of Lima and Herman LaRue of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister, Dorothy Clum of Ada; 13 grandchildren (1 deceased); 24 great-grandchildren (1 deceased) and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond, Karl and Russell LaRue; and by a sister, Gertrude Harrod.
Mrs. Ream was a homemaker and she also worked at the Boss Glove Co. and Triplett Corp., both of Bluffton.
She was a member of Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton, and its Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Orange Township Women's Club. She graduated from Lafayette-Jackson High School.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 11 at Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton, with William Herr and Terry Ream officiating.
Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hymnal Fund at the Mennonite Memorial Home and/or to Riley Creek Baptist Church.

Gary W. Harris
Died: Thursday, January 31, 2002
Gary W. Harris, 58, of Ada, died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at his residence in Ada.
He was born September 4, 1943 in Hancock County, to Clifford A. and Thelma (Cupp) Harris, both of whom survive in Lima.
On March 8, 1970, he married Patricia Eileen Elwood, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jenny Lynn (David) Edwards of Ada; a brother, Larry A. (Barbara) Harris of Perry, Florida; and a sister, Deb (John) Wise of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Michael Harris and a stillborn son.
Mr. Harris was retired after 30 years as an Inspector with the Dana Corp./Spicer Division in Lima. He was a member of the UAW Local 1765 Retirees. He attended Van Buren High School.
Services were held Saturday, February 2 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Thomas Dearth and Rev. Laura Raypholtz-Clark officiating.
Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Robert C. Vertner
Died: Thursday, January 31, 2002
Robert C. Vertner, 82, of Harrod, died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born August 19, 1919 in Wayne Township, Auglaize County, to Thomas and Effie (Ohler) Vertner.
On May 12, 1942, he married Alice Jane Riff, who died January 13, 1990.
Survivors include two daughters: Janice (Gene) Gratz of Lexington, Ohio, and Beverly Vertner of Harrod; a brother, Russell (Nellie) Vertner of Harrod; three grandchildren: Kimberly (Scott) Fields of Mt. Vernon, Amy (Jim) Ferguson of Mt. Vernon, and Heather (Chuck) Oatman of Columbus Grove; and four great-grandchildren: Austin Fields, Ethan Fields, Colton Fields, and Chasidy Oatman.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Thomas.
Mr. Vertner was a farmer. He was a member of the Bits & Harness Pony Pullers Association and the Central Ohio Pony Pullers Association. He was a member of the former Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.
Services were held Sunday, February 3 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating.
Burial was in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield.

Marvin D. Hershner
Died: Tuesday, January 29, 2002
Marvin D. Hershner, 68, of Upper Sandusky, died Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born June 29, 1933 on the family farm in Morrow County, Ohio, to Earl L. and Mabel A. (Smith) Hershner, both of whom are deceased.
On February 1, 1953, he married Sue C. Hetrick, who survives in Upper Sandusky.
Other survivors include a son, Ken E. Hershner of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Pam (Greg) Grimslid of Ada; four grandchildren: Erin Griffin, Matthew Kraft, Kyle and Eric Grimslid; two brothers: Harold Dean Hershner of Lexington, Ohio and William Hershner of Mt. Gilead; and two sisters: Frances Nisley of Columbus and Mary Jean (Jack) Condon of Ashville, NC.
Mr. Hershner was graduated from Johnsville High School in 1951. He was employed as a pharmacist at the Koehler Drug Store in Upper Sandusky since 1961. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Church in Upper Sandusky, where he served as an Usher. He attended Ashland College for two years and graduated in June of 1961 from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Div. Fort Campbell, KY, from 1953-1955, Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 225, and he was a member of the BPOE #83, where he served on various committees. He was also a member of the Elks National Foundation. He was a member of Stone Crossing Golf Club. All organizations are in Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Hershner enjoyed playing golf, tomato gardening, woodworking, Belgium horses, and dancing the polka, but his greatest focus was his grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, February 2 at Trinity Evangelical Church, Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Derik Hines officiating.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Military graveside rites were conducted by the local Veterans organizations.

Debra L. Agner

Debra L. Agner, 48, of Ada and formerly of Columbus Grove, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born November 1, 1953 in Lima, to John and Donna (Wert) Smith, both of whom survive in Columbus Grove.
On September 2, 1991, she married Terry Agner, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Aaron J. Euckert of Golden, CO; a daughter, Mindy L (Greg Harrison) Euckert of Toledo; a paternal grandmother, Nellie Smith of Columbus Grove; a nephew, Chadd Caton; a niece, Kim Caton; two sisters: Rebecca L. (Tom) Timmons of Las Vegas, NV, and D. Denise Smith and close companion Ron McCroy of Bluffton; and a grandson, Ryan L. Harrison of Toledo.
Mrs. Agner was a homemaker. She graduated from Columbus Grove High School. She received her LPN from Lima Memorial School of Nursing. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls.
Services will be held Saturday, February 2 at 10 a.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Pastor Rory Stauber officiating.
