Elsie M. Eikenbary
Died: Sunday, March 10, 2002
Elsie M. Eikenbary, 96, of Kenton, died Sunday, March 10, 2002 at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.
She was born May 21, 1905 in Maysville, to George and Emma (Shaffer) Kindle.
On April 1, 1922 she married John Henry Eikenbary in Kenton, and he died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Stephens of Kenton; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Evelyn, a sister, a granddaughter, a grandson and a step-great-grandson.
Mrs. Eikenbary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ of Kenton.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, March 13 at Dunkirk Cemetery. Funeral home in charge of the arrangements was Price Funeral Home, Kenton.

Eldon B. Anderson
Died: Thursday, March 7, 2002
Eldon B. Anderson, 85, of Alger, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Hardin Hills Health Center.
He was born March 3, 1917 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Robert and Della (Arnett) Anderson.
On December 19, 1954, he married Marguerite A. Clay. She died August 8, 1980.
Survivors include one brother, Clifford Anderson of Alger and one sister, Opal Ray of Alger.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul Anderson, Lee Anderson and Charles Anderson; and two sisters: Iva Lee and Veda Mae Bays.
He was a retired Master Sgt. from the United States Army and was a roofer for several years. He was a member of the Ada VFW Post 9381. He fought in World War II in the South Pacific and the Korean Conflict.
Services were held Monday, March 11 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with the Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger. Graveside Military Services were conducted by the Ada VFW Post 9381.

Alma Lynn, 85, of Alger, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.
She was born April 20, 1916 in Salyersville, Kentucky, to Wiley and Amanda (Risner) Patton.
She married Victor Vic Lynn and he died June 29, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Mike Lynn, Homer, Michigan; a daughter, Vikki Zachariah, of Alger; one sister, Gloria Berry of Naples, Florida; and three grandchildren: Sean Lynn, Patrick Lynn and Jason Manns.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: John Patton, LaRue Pat Patton, Frank Patton, and James Patton; four sisters: Martha Premeaux, Susie Richardson, Mary Williams, and Ruth Salter.
She was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church, Alger; a member of the Alger Three Arts Club and a member of the United Methodist Women of the church. She worked in the family business, Vic Lynn Motor Sales of Alger and Kenton.
Services were held Monday, March 11 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Ollie Mae Holbrook
Died: Sunday, March 3, 2002
Ollie Mae Holbrook, 71, of Alger, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Ravenwood Care Center, Kenton.
She was born February 8, 1931 in Garrett, Kentucky, to Kelly and Liza (Coburn) Bolen.
On September 24, 1960, she married Harry Holbrook Sr., who died February 22, 1985.
Survivors include two sons: Harry (Billie) Holbrook Jr. of Lakeview and Gerald Tiny (Tami) Holbrook of Alger; two daughters: Dolores Dee (Don) Kinnear of Kenton and Alta (Bill) Fife of Kenton; four brothers: Arnold (Ogie) Bolen of McGuffey, Dingus (Linda) Bolen of Kenton, Arthur (Loraine) Bolen of Newark, Ohio, and Jimmy R. (Marguerite) Bolen of Alger; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Laudie Howard and four brothers: Curtis Bolen, Colonel Bolen, Turner Bolen and Tivis Bolen; a grandson and two great-grandsons.
Mrs. Holbrook was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Old Regular Baptist Church of McGuffey.
Services were held Wednesday, March 6 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Elder Mike Slone and Bobby Fatton officiating.
Burial was in McDonald Fairview Cemetery, Kenton.

A. Marcella Montgomery, 79, of Ada, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.
She was born July 20, 1922 in Lima, to Steven and Fern (Alexander) Roberts.
She married Clarence Williams, who passed away, and then married Richard Montgomery, who passed away.
Survivors include three sons: Larry (Shirley) Williams of Ada, Ronald E. Williams of California, and Richard A. Williams of California; a daughter, Julia Kay (Gerald) Camper of Florida; a sister, V. Maxine Quick of Ada; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons: David Williams and Monty Montgomery; a daughter, Sharon Williams; a half-brother, James Roberts; and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Montgomery was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bluffton Baptist Church. She was a founder of the HART Association with her deceased husband, Richard Montgomery.
Services were held Tuesday, March 5 at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton, with Rev. Steven Renfrow officiating.
Burial was in Clymer Cemetery, near Mt. Cory.

Lawrence C. Neeley Sr.
Died: Friday, March 1, 2002
Lawrence C. Neeley Sr., 70, of Alger, died Friday, March 1, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 4, 1931 in Ivel, Kentucky, to Stonewall J. and Anne (Stratton) Neeley.
On July 11, 1954, he married Mary F. Dern in Akron, Ohio, and she survives in Alger.
Other survivors include three sons: Michael D. (Debra) Neeley of Lima, Brian (Diana) Neeley of Elida, and Lawrence (Alyson) Neeley Jr. of Alger; nine grandchildren: Grant M. Neeley, Jason R. (Misti) Cox, Jennifer R. Cox, Jessica R. Cox, Matthew J. Neeley, Brittany K. Neeley, Alexis N. Neeley, Lance R. Neeley and Lawren A. Neeley; two great-grandchildren: Tyler J. Cox and Jennica R. Cox; and a sister, Mary Gossard of Roundhead.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Neeley; a brother, Lewis Neeley and a brother-in-law, Garfield Gossard.
Mr. Neeley was a heavy equipment mechanic at Tilton Corporation where he retired in 1986.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Alaska and attended the Alger First United Methodist Church, Alger. He was a member of the Lima Model A Club and a member of the Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He loved to restore Model A Fords and work on anything mechanical. He was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Union.
He was a 1950 graduate of Roundhead High School and then graduated from the Community Trades Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Services were held Monday, March 4 at Alger First United Methodist Church, Alger. Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Funeral home in charge of arrangements was Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.

Betty E. Quattrocchi
Died: Wednesday, February 27, 2002
Betty E. Quattrocchi, 80, of Ada, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 17, 1921 in Lima, to Bernard E. and Cora Katherine (Eberle) Tarr, both of whom are deceased.
On June 9, 1957, she married Philip R. Quattrocchi, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include two daughters: Christine (David) Sutcliffe of Westlake and Nancy (Mark) Sanford of Delaware; two brothers: Roger (Darlene) Tarr of Ada and Bernard Tarr of Ada; four grandchildren: Mark and Brian Sutcliffe and Kyle and Allison Sanford; three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Quattrocchi; three brothers: Kenneth Tarr, Gerald Tarr and Earl Tarr; and by a sister-in-law, Doris Tarr.
Mrs. Quattrocchi was retired from the Ada Exempted Village Schools, where she was the Treasurer for 11 years, from January 1976 through October 1987.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Tally-Ho Social Club and the Ada High School Class of 1939 Reunion Committee. She was a 1939 graduate of Ada High School. She was the Clerk-Treasurer of the Ada Public Library for several years and worked for Wilson Sporting Goods as a Supervisor of Payroll, Purchasing and Personnel for 25 years.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ada, with Father Dan Millisor officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Helen E. McMillen
Died: Tuesday, February 26, 2002
Helen E. McMillen, 88, of Lima, died Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 3, 1913 in Hancock County, to George E. and Grace E. (Halsey) Morrison, both of whom are deceased.
On May 9, 1937, she married Ralph McMillen, who survives in Lima.
Other survivors include a son, Milan L. McMillen of Ada; two granddaughters: Kimberly and Tiffany McMillen; a great-grandson, Joshua Sergeant; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie McMillen of Ada.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tom McMillen and a brother, Willis Morrison.
Mrs. McMillen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ and a former member of OES. She had been the church musician for most of her life.
Services were held Saturday, March 2 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, with Frank Oden officiating.
Burial was in Hassan Cemetery, Jenera.

Herbert N. Strayer
Died: Sunday, February 24, 2002
Herbert N. Strayer, 61, of Ada, died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1940 in Spencerville, to Nile M. and Eulah (Hilyard) Strayer, both of whom are deceased.
On November 27, 1963, he married Susan Chapman, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a son, Herbert Nelson Strayer Jr. of Ada; two daughters: Shanda (Timothy) Seiltz of Springfield and Brittney Strayer of Columbus; a brother, Martin (Linda) Strayer of Westerville; and a grandson, Alexander Nicholas Seiltz.
Mr. Strayer was an Associate Professor at Ohio Northern University in Ada and a baseball coach at Ohio Northern University since 1969. He was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the NCAA Baseball Coaches Association and the Letterman Club at ONU. He was a WSI Instructor for the Red Cross Swimming Program in Ada, and a member of the Hall of Fame at Ohio Northern University.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 28 at Ada First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Albertson officiating.
Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, February 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

Kenneth D. Tressel
Died: Sunday, February 24, 2002
Kenneth D. Tressel, 84, of Ada, died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida.
He was born July 7, 1917 in Ada, to Lee and Cora (Wolfley) Tressel, both of whom are deceased.
On March 15, 1941, he married Elsie M. Hubbell, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include a son, Dennis (Karen) Tressel of Duluth, Minnesota; a daughter, Nancy (Walter) Werner of St. Joseph, Missouri; a sister, JoAnn Kindle of Ada; four grandchildren: Connie and Jeff Werner and Ryan and Kristi Tressel.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Gene Tressel and Lee J. Tressel, Jr.
Mr. Tressel was employed by the United States Post Office, Ada, as a city carrier for approximately 30 years. He was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Ohio Army National Guard, where he served from 1935-1969. He served in the US Army Active Duty from October 1940 to May 1945 and the Korean Conflict for two years. He was a life member of the Ada VFW Post 9381 and a life member of the American Legion Post 185. He was active in the Hardin County Historical Society and the Hardin County Genealogy Society. He was the former owner of Ken's Rock Shop in Ada. He was a member of the Friendship Grange for over 50 years, and he was a 1935 graduate of Ada High School.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Rev. Joe Royer officiating.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday, February 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home and until time of the service on Friday.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Tiny S. Nichols, Sr., 68, of Kenton, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Sherman and Haley (Perkins) Nichols.
He married Mabel Perkins, and she died October 14, 1996. Mr. Nichols was a general laborer.
Survivors include two sons: Tiny (Brenda) Nichols, Jr. of Kenton and Jimmy Nichols of Kenton; three daughters: Jerri Nichols of Lima, Barbara (John) DeSota of Lima, and Betty Marie (Ken) Barrett of Lansing, Michigan; a sister, Mabel Nichols of Salyersville, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sherman Nichols; an infant daughter; and a brother, Roy Nichols.
Services were held Monday, December 10 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with A. B. Rowe officiating.
Burial was in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Ethelyn Louise (Hurd) Rogers, of Cincinnati and formerly of Ada, died Thursday, December 6, 2001.
A public graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada on Saturday, December 15 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Messner officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
She is the daughter of the late Delmar and Ellen Alyce (Burge) Hurd and married Sidney Bowman Rogers, who is now deceased.
She was mother to Pollyanna (Roland) Sedziol and John Wesley Rogers of Lima; Ruby Rogers and the late Sylvia (Hursel) Miller and Mary (David) Laughead of Arcanum, Ohio; was grandmother to Ellen Carney, Roland (Julie) Sedziol, John (Debbie) Sedziol, Ken (Rita) Sedziol, Emilie Sedziol, Paul (Debbie) Miller, Jim (Theresa) Miller, Andy (April) Miller, Steve (Christine) Miller, Amy Laughead, David Laughead, Jr., Matthew Rogers and Christy Rogers; was great-grandmother to Sarah (Frank) Miller, Rebecca Carney, Bethany Sedziol, Michael Sedziol, Melissa Sedziol, Mark Sedziol, Matthew Sedziol, Brian Sedziol, Brittany Sedziol, Chad Miller, Melissa Miller, Joey Miller, Scott Miller, Chris Miller, Michael Miller, Nicholas Miller, Jason Miller, Megan Miller, Rebecca Miller and Stephen Miller; sister to Delmer Lee (Annabelle) Hurd of Corona, California and the late Thelma Mary (Hurd) Matchett, Emily Belle (Hurd) Moore and Rhoda Genevieve (Hurd) Sparks.
Memorial service was held Sunday, December 9 at Montgomery Community Baptist Church in Cincinnati.

Alberta "Blondie" Shepherd

Alberta Blondie Shepherd, 69, of Dola, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at her residence in Dola.
She was born February 28, 1932 in Salyersville, Kentucky, to Harlin and Lola (Bailey) Morrison, both of whom are deceased.
On December 28, 1962, she married Howard Shepherd. He died November 25, 1990. Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker.
Survivors include five brothers: Bill Morrison of Findlay, Orville Lee Morrison of Deatsville, Alabama, Jim Morrison of Alger, Donald Morrison of Dola, and Rick Morrison of Ada; and four sisters: Marilyn Pratt of Dola, Judy Kearley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Adaline Rucker of Ostrander, Ohio, and Phyllis Bowman of Ada.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Jane Holbrook and two brothers: Franklin and Ovie Dean Morrison.
Services were held Saturday, December 8 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
Burial was in Roundhead Cemetery, Roundhead.

Mary "Pat" Bosch
Died: Sunday, December 2, 2001
Mary Pat Bosch, age 60, of Pasco, died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at her home in Pasco surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 5, 1941 in Piqua, Ohio to Stephen and Kathern Smith. Pat moved to Pasco over 40 years ago. On August 9, 1959 she married Thomas Lee Bosch at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Pasco.
Pat loved her job as a materials manager at Staveley Instruments, and she loved the people she worked with there. Her other special interests and hobbies included spending time in their log cabin in the Blue Mountains, fishing, snowmobiling, craft work, Christmas time, family gatherings and going to Reno.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Thomas L. Bosch, of Pasco; daughters, Cinthia D. Welch of Kennewick, and Sheri L. (Bosch) Kuykendall and her husband, Bob, of Kennewick; son, Thomas L. Bosch, Jr., and his wife, Shauna, of Kennewick; father, Stephen P. Smith, Sr., of Ada, OH; brother, Stephen P. Smith, Jr., and his wife, Mary, of Lima, OH ; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The holy rosary will be recited Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court Street, Pasco.
The memorial mass will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1320 W. Henry, Pasco.

Betty L. Spitzer
Died: Tuesday, November 27, 2001
Betty L. Spitzer, 85, of Ada, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
She was born on August 14, 1916 in Corning, Ohio, to John and Mary (Fleming) Lamb.
In 1944, she married Norman J. Spitzer, and he passed away on April 24, 2000.
Survivors include a son, John Spitzer II of Indianapolis, IN; and three grandchildren: Kevin John Spitzer of San Mateo, CA, Rachelle LeFur of Homestead, FL, and Christopher Eric Spitzer of Miami, FL.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: George Lamb and Jack Lamb; and by two sisters: Geneva Murphey and Jacqueline Murphey.
Mrs. Spitzer was a teacher of Home Economics. Her teaching career lasted from 1939 to 1980, but when she retired, she was teaching at Ada High School. She was a former member of the Future Homemakers of America. She was a member of the Hardin County and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations. She was also a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association.
There will be no services, the body has been cremated. Funeral home in charge of the arrangements is Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.

Melvin A. Cheney
Died: Monday, November 26, 2001
Melvin A. Cheney, 79, of Ada, died Monday, November 26, 2001 at his residence.
He was born January 14, 1922 in Ada, to J. W. Bill and Gusta (Hall) Cheney.
On December 25, 1949, he married Dee O'Brien, who survives in Ada.
Other survivors include three daughters: Christine (Walter) Pentland of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathleen (Ahmad) Shah of Glendale, Ariz., and Beth (Joseph) Plumpe of Burke, Virginia; and four grandchildren: Andrew Pentland, Karen Pentland, Sarah Shah and Abraham Shah.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Willis, Fred and Brice Cheney; and two sisters: Wanda Berry and Nevada Cheney.
Mr. Cheney was retired from the Ada Farmers Exchange Company after 47 years as a Millwright. He was a graduate of Ada High School.
Private family graveside services will be held. There will be no visitation. Hanson-Neely Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth M. Guyton, 84, of Ada, died November 21, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 30, 1917 in Hardin County, to Alfred and Viola Mae (Snider) Guyton.
Survivors include a brother, Raymond Jack (Coralie) Guyton of Alger; a sister, Betty (Gene) Montague of Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ben F. Guyton and a sister, Dorothy Rowe.
Ms. Guyton was a 1935 graduate of Ada High School. She was retired from Cardinal Grocery in Ada after several years and previously worked at the Ada Locker.
Services were held on Monday, November 26 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Ron Briggs officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Wanda E. Sanders

Wanda E. Sanders, 83, of Ada, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at her residence in Ada.
She was born on March 22, 1918 in Hancock County, to Benjamin Harrison and Edna Gayle (Romick) Baker.
On March 31, 1936 she married Richard D. Sanders, who died July 23, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters: Patricia (Jim) Nichols of South Elgin, IL, Gloria (Ken)Kline of Lima, and Cheryl Westbrook of Ada; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Pat) Baker of Zanesville; and a sister, Dortha Bolen of Sun City, AZ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Sanders in 1994, and a brother, Harry Baker.
Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker and a former member of the Riley Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Ada Church of Christ (Disciples). She was also a member of the Ada VFW Post 9381 Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of Eagles Nest #3619 at Indian Lake, Ohio. She formerly worked for Fields Bakery in Kenton and was a past president of the Yorktown Village Apartment Complex. She was an avid fisherwoman and loved playing cards and bingo.
Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Pastor Thomas Dearth will officiate.
Friends may call on the family from 12 noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
