JANET CARTER
Miss Janet Carter, 34, a resident of New Orleans and native of Charenton, died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at 4:40 a.m., at By Water Hospital in New Orleans.
She is survived by a very dear friend, David Babino; her mother, Elmer White Carter of Charenton; one son, Devonte Carter of Charenton; three brothers, Robert Carter of Houston, Texas, Burney Carter of Patterson and Kevin Carter of Franklin; and two sisters, Judy Carter Cuffee of Baldwin and Alida Carter Weston of Franklin.
Miss Carter was preceded in death by her father, one sister and one brother.
Visitations will be observed Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel, and also from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the St. John Baptist Church in Charenton.
Burial rites will be read Friday, at 8 p.m., at St. John Baptist Church. The Rev. Ivory Williams Sr. will officiate.
Interment will be Saturday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., at the St. John Cemetery in Charenton.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

ROY CHARLES SR.
Mr. Roy Charles Sr., 66, a resident and native of Four Corners, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at 4:52 a.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia, following a short illness.
He is survived by three sons, Roy Charles Jr. of Four Corners and Robert and Jeffery Narcisse of Baldwin; four daughters, Loria C. Jones and Darlene Charles of Four Corners, Irma Tardy of Jeanerette and Floria Paul of Port Arthur, Texas; five brothers, Edward Charles of Chicago, Illinois, Leonard Charles of Dallas, Texas, Joseph Charles, Roland Charles and King Charles Sr. of Four Corners; six sisters, Verna Jennings of Chicago, Delores Coleman, Doretha Turner and Ellen Lewis of Houston, Texas, Martha Charles and Evelyn Simpson of Four Corners; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.
Visitations will be observed Friday, Dec. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton.
Burial rites will be Friday, at 7 p.m., at that church.
Interment will be Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m., in the Macedonia Cemetery in Ashton.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

ALZINA CHARLES
Alzina Charles, 62, a resident of Morgan City and native of Maurice, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at 8 a.m., at the Morgan City Health Care, following a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Sammy Charles of Morgan City; two daughters, Sondra A. Charles of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Caullette of Morgan City; three brothers, Edward Guidry and Mervin Guidry of California and Nolan Guidry of Lafayette; four sisters, Selena Morgan of Lafayette, Anita (Irvin) Celestine of Riverside, California, Christine (Charles) Barber of Albany, N.Y. and Alberta Whitehead of Carencro; and four grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Funeral rites will be Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at that church. Interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

BIRDIE L. COKER
Birdie L. Coker, 70, a native of Steele, Alabama and a resident of Franklin, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at 7:05 a.m., at the Franklin Foundation Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, Nov. 1, at Ibert's Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at Ibert's Mortuary at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Gaudin officiating. Interment will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.
Ms. Coker is survived by her sister, Rosie Miller and her husband, Dennis, both of Dexter, Kentucky; one niece, Denise Tate of Chicago, Illinois; and one nephew, Dennis Miller of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, William J. Coker and her mother, Ada Idella Battles Coker.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

KAY NOLAN COLLETTE
Kay Nolan Collette, 65, a native of Charenton, a former resident of Glencoe and Franklin, and a resident of Centerville for the past three years, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 at her residence in Centerville.
She was the owner and operator of Terry's Supply in Glencoe from 1976 to 1992. She was loved by her family, friends and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Regional Hospice, 504 Jack Miller Rd., Suite 8, Ville Platte, La. 70586.
Ms. Collette is survived by her two sons, Scott Gewin and his wife, Candy, of Many, La. and Nathan Gewin and his wife, Elsy, of Fulshear, Texas; two brothers, Curtis Nolan and his wife, Kimiko, of Melbourne, Florida; Terry Nolan and his wife, Karlene, of Centerville; one sister, Audrey Ganglof of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Mariah and Scott Gewin II, both of Many and Benjamin and Matthew Gewin, both of Fulshear, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincey "Dago" Collette and her parents, Elton Nolan and Olive Verrette Nolan.
The family requests that memorial visitations be observed Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville. Fr. Kenneth Mayne will officiate the memorial Mass.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

MARY ELDER B. DIXON
Mary Elder Kelly Buck Dixon, 85, a native of Bayou Chene and a resident of Franklin since 1953, died Thursday at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary.
The mortuary will reopen Monday, November 1, at 9 a.m. until service time.
A service will be held Monday, at 11 a.m., at Ibert's Mortuary. The Rev. Steve Portier will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by her sons, Riley Buck and his wife, Kay, of Patterson; Uston Buck and his wife, Margaret, of Ricohoc; Harold Buck and his wife, Sarah, of Franklinton; Gerald Buck and his wife, Sue, of Centerville; Bobby Buck of Franklin; Clair Dixon Jr. and Dave Legon, both of San Francisco, California; daughters, Sarah Jane Buck of Waskom, Texas; Betty Hanks and her husband, Merlin, of Church Point; Linda Clark and her husband, Wayne, of Baton Rouge; brothers, Harold Kelly of Morgan City and J.P. Pearce of Lafayette; 34 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Dixon Sr.; son, Harold James Buck; brothers, Gilbert Kelly, Tom Kelly, Herbert Kelly, Rudolph "Doo Doo" Pearce and Earl Pearce; sisters, Eufamie K. Chauvin, Sophie Pearce Ourso, Christine Kelly Pearce and Lorena Kelly Pearce; grandchildren, Riley "R.J." Buck and Harold Jacob Buck; parents, Charles Edward Kelly and Edmae Mendoza Kelly Pearce; and her step father, Frank Pearce.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

HENRY DUMESNIL JR.
Henry Dumesnil Jr., 88, a native and resident of Franklin, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at 3:20 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Thompson Dumesnil of Franklin; three sons, Louis and Allen Dumesnil of Franklin and Henry Dumesnil III of Kingwood, Texas; one brother, Leroy Dumesnil of Franklin; three sisters, Gloria Garlotte of Franklin, Barbara Haire of Breaux Bridge and Nellie Godcheaux of New Orleans; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Dumesnil was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Anne Boudreaux Dumesnil; one brother, Freddy Dumesnil; and two sisters, Jenny Falterman and Gracie Leboeuf.
Mr. Dumesnil was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in Europe. He received the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He was a life member of the VFW Post #4201 and the American Legion Post #630.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary, with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
The mortuary will reopen Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8:30 a.m.
Service will be Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption. Father Michael Russo will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

JOYCE L. EVANS
Mrs. Joyce Lancelin Evans, 77, a resident and native of Baldwin, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at 3:55 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital, following a short illness.
She is survived by two brothers, Moses Lancelin of Baldwin and Harold G. Lancelin of Chicago, Illinois.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents, several sisters and brothers.
Visitations will be observed Monday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Special Providence Baptist Church in Baldwin.
Burial rites will be read Monday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

EDNA M. FOUQUIER
Edna M. Fouquier died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 10:10 p.m. at the Franklin Healthcare Center. She was 102 years old. Ms. Edna was born in Montegut, Louisiana on December 2, 1902 and was a resident of Garden City, Louisiana for over 80 years.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Saturday, February 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Russo officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Fouquier is survived by her oldest daughter, Dorina Winston; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fouquier; her daughter, Evelyn James; and her son, Hilton Fouquier.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Barbara Luke and her husband Ray for their generous help and love over the last several years of Edna's life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

WENDY DEAN FRANCIS
Miss Wendy "Red" Dean Francis, 39, a resident and native of Glencoe, died Sunday, August 6, 2006, at her residence following a short illness.
She is survived by a devoted and loving friend, Clarence Citizen of Church Point; parents, Gerard Sr. and Ardele Baker Francis of Glencoe; five brothers, Gerard Francis Jr., Mark Francis and his wife, Sondya, and Curtis Francis of Glencoe, Danny Francis and his wife, Monique, of Franklin, and Sampson Francis of Japan; and one sister, Carla Jones and her husband, Terry, of Baldwin.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Helen Cemetery in Louisa.

SIDNEY J. 'BUSTER' GAUTHIER JR.
Sidney J. "Buster" Gauthier Jr., 73, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died February 2, 2003, at 5:20 p.m., at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Olga Rogers Gauthier of Franklin; two sons, John J. Gauthier and his wife, Diana Brasseaux Gauthier of Franklin and Sidney J. Gauthier III and his wife, Denise Barnett Gauthier of Franklin; four daughters, Sally A. Peltier and her husband, Roy Peltier Jr. of Oakgrove, Kentucky, Gwen M. Saucier and her husband, Keith Saucier, of Franklin and Mary E. Melancon and her husband, Harold Melancon Sr. of Franklin and Rhonda L. Battaglio and her husband, Barry Battaglio of Franklin; one sister, Gloria Gauthier Boudreaux of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Gauthier was preceded in death by his father, Sidney J. Gauthier Sr. mother, Lumea Charpentier Gauthier; two sisters, Lucille Mary Gauthier and Elizabeth Thibodeaux LaRive; and two grandchildren, John Joseph Gauthier Jr. and Tony James Melancon.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary.
Visitation will continue Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 8 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption until time of service.
Service will be Feb. 5, at 10 a.m., at the Church of Assumption. Kenneth Domingue will officiate. Interment will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.

CELIA ELAINE GROGAN
Celia Elaine Grogan, 56, a resident and native of Patterson, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at 9:48 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Grogan of Patterson; her father, Willie Williams Sr. of Patterson; one son, Rodney Grogan of Patterson; three stepsons, Andrew Harrison of Patterson, Darryl Grogan of Morgan City and Lelton Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas; six brothers, Bruce Augustine Sr. of Houston, Texas, Willie Williams Jr. of Gibson, Wayne Williams Sr., Malcolm Williams Sr., Leon Williams and Arthur Lee Dugar, all of Patterson; five sisters, Billie Smith, Kearney Hall and Phyliss Ann Guidry, all of Patterson, Wanda Parks and Norman West, both of Houston; three foster children, Jawanda Weston, Derrasia Williams and Dwight Greene Jr., all of Patterson; eight step grandchildren; and three foster grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Good Hope Baptist Church.
Burial rites will be Saturday, at 2 p.m., at that church. Interment will follow in the Shield Cemetery.
The Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

ALLEN RAY HARRISON
Mr. Allen Ray Harrison, 44, a native and resident of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 9:40 a.m., at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center following a short illness.
He is survived by his fiancée, Felicia Jackson of Franklin; his mother, Ruby Harrison of Franklin; one daughter, Allyson R. Milton of Baton Rouge; five brothers, James C. Oliver and Ernest Harrison of Franklin, Terry Harrison of New Iberia, Edgar Lee Harrison and Clyde Harrison of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Beatrice Taylor and Margaret Harrison of Franklin, Joyce Jones of Baldwin, Glenda Savage, Thelma Coleman and Irma Okeke of Houston; and loved also by Daryl and Kayla Jackson of Franklin.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in by his father and grandparents.
Visitations were observed Monday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Triumph Baptist Church.
Burial rites were read Monday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Clarence Stewart Sr. officiated. Interment followed in the Franklin Cemetery.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin was in charge of arrangements.

LEROY JOHN HEBERT JR.
Leroy John Hebert Jr., 46, a native of Franklin and resident of Brandon, Mississippi, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Lambert Hebert of Brandon; one son, Bradley John Hebert of Brandon; father, Leroy John Hebert Sr. of Franklin; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Moore of Franklin and Kelley Carline of New Iberia; one brother, Joey Hebert of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hebert was preceded in death by his mother, Emilies Picard Hebert.
Visitation will be held today, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake service, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Visitation will be held in Franklin Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Assumption Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 3 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Baldwin. Father Michael Russo, assisted by Deacon Ricky Picard, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Young Jr., Brian Picard, Mike Picard, Matthew Hebert, Mikhail Lambert-Oswald, Alexander Lambert-Oswald, Nicholas Lambert-Oswald, Clint Young and Brent Young.
Mr. Hebert was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church. He was a director of Environmental and Safety for Miss. Valley Gas and had formerly worked for Southern Natural Gas.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He was a member of the LSU Alumni Association and the Tiger Athletic Foundation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Catholic Church, 399 Barrow St., Pearl, Mississippi 39208.
