MRS. EMERITE BATISTE
Mrs. Emerite J. Batiste, 76, a resident of Four Corners and native of Glencoe, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at 5:45 p.m., at Lafayette General Hospital, following a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Beecher Batiste of Four Corners; three brothers, Wilfred Edwards of Jeanerette, Joe Joseph of Charenton, and Ceges Joseph Sr. of Baton Rouge; one granddaughter, Kalynn Kiara Hurst of Four Corners; three godchildren, Larry Smith and Marva Smith Jack, both of Four Corners, and Keith Joseph of Charenton.
Mrs. Batiste was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Joseph; four brothers; four sisters; and one adopted daughter.
Visitations will be observed Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at St. John Baptist Church in Four Corners.
Funeral rites will be read Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at that church. The Rev. Arnold R. Joseph and the Rev. Joseph Cormier, pastor, will officiate. Interment
will follow in the Sorrell Community Cemetery.

EMANUEL PAUL BERCEGEAY
Emanuel Paul Bercegeay, 75, a native of Charenton, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers. Rev. Mike Adams, pastor of St. Barnabas Catholic Church will officiate.
Mr. Bercegeay graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and completed his graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his Master's in Petroleum Engineering He received his doctorate degree from the University of Texas. He was a professor and the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department for 17.5 years. As the Dean of University College at the University of Southwestern Louisiana at Lafayette, he created many schools for the Oil Industry.
He was the President and Chairman of Board of Directors for Beta Oil Company and Beta Operating, Inc. He was also the founder and past president of Sand Control, which was sold to Baker Oil Tools. He will be remembered as a successful oilman, a patriot and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Virginia Heck Bercegeay; three daughters, Giselle B. Bernard of Chicago, Jeanne Frederic and her husband, Donnie, of Arkansas and Paula LeBlanc and her husband, Tommy, of West Virginia; one son, David S. Bercegeay of Lafayette; one sister, Anne Caffery and her husband, Patrick Caffery, of New Iberia; one brother, Leslie Bercegeay and his wife, Ethel, of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melville Bercegeay and the former Nilla Gardner; and one brother, David "Tish" Bercegeay.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Saturday until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of their choice.

HAZEL ANN BERNARD
Hazel Ann Bernard, 58, a native and lifelong resident of Charenton, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at 8:28 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
The family requests that visiting be observed Friday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, then resuming again on Saturday morning at Ibert's from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Charenton, with Father Bill Crumley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Miss Hazel is survived by her three brothers, Milton Bernard of Franklin, Ernest "Jack" Bernard of Charenton and James "Jimmy" Bernard of Charenton; three sisters, Lorena Mora of Charenton, Gertrude Eddlemon of Baldwin and Lillian LeBlanc of Charenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adrian Albert Bernard; her mother, Emma Darden Bernard; and four brothers, Shirley, Edwin, Allen and Donald Bernard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin.
RICHARD I. BRAY
Richard I. Bray, 85, a native of Gloucester, Massachusetts, and resident of Loveland, Colorado, died May 29, 2002.
He is survived by one son and wife, David and Kathy Bray of Cypress, Texas; one daughter and her husband, Deborah and Steve Stientjes of Loveland, Colorado; four grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Billie Phelps of Pampa, Texas, and Ruth Phelps of Lubbock, Texas; and eight nephews.
Mr. Bray was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Phelps Bray.
He was retired from Cabot Corp. in Pampa, having worked as a production manager with 37 years of service and was a member of the American Chemical Society for 60 years.
Services will be Saturday, at 4 p.m., at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa. Dr. Randy White will officiate. Interment
will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Pampa.

JOHN C. BRELAND
John C. Breland, 77, a native of Zula, Mississippi, and former resident of Franklin, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Slidell Memorial Hospital from heart disease.
He was the husband of the late Dolores East Breland was the beloved father of John Curtis Breland of Needville, Texas and Cynthia Breland Joplin of Houma and the late Gary Wayne Breland.
Mr. Breland was the son of the late Leon and Gertrude Breland and brother of Wiggy Breland Brownley of Wiggins, Mississippi and the late Marcel B. Cooper, Hershel Breland, Vernon Breland and Carmie Breland. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Sean, Kimberly and Ashley Joplin.
He was a former resident of Richton, Mississippi, Houma, Picayune, Mississippi and a resident of Slidell for over five years. He was a member of Franklin Lodge No. 57, F.&A.M., Sts. John Chapter No. 98, R.A.M., Sts. John Council No. 41, R.S.M. and Indivisible Friends Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar.
Visitation was held Tuesday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), in Slidell, with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church after 10 a.m. until funeral time.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 1041 9th St., Slidell. The Rev. Jim Cramer and Pastor Dale Clabaugh officiated. Interment
followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LUCILLE GUIDRY BROUSSARD
Lucille Guidry Broussard, 96, a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Franklin since 1927, died Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at Franklin Health Care Center.
She is survived by one son, Danny J. Broussard and his wife Yvonne L. Broussard of Franklin; two daughters, Joyce B. Boudreaux of Jeanerette and Sherry B. Darce and her husband Dickie Darce of Baldwin; one brother, Donald J. Guidry of Nashville, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; nuemrous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbnad, Dennis A. Broussard, a son, Gerald A. Broussard, four brothers, one sister, her parents and a daughter-in-law.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. The mortuary will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and funeral services are set for 11 a.m. at the Church of the Assmption, with interment
at the Franklin Cemetery.

Daniel Burgess Jr., 75, a resident of New Iberia and native of Verdunville, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 12:15 p.m., at Iberia Medical Center, following a long illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Burgess of New Iberia; three sons, Kimball Burgess, Harry Burgess and Keith Burgess, all of New Iberia; three daughters, Gisele Burgess, Darlene Tauriac and Danette Mandeville, all of New Iberia; three brothers, Herman Burgess of California, Willie Burgess of Bayou Vista and Juanover Burgess of Verdunville; four sisters, Ann Copeland of Bayou Vista, Zelda Valteau of Patterson, Bernadette and Paulette Burgess, both of Verdunville; 20 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Centerville.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church. The Rev. Thomas Vu will officiate. Interment
will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Edward H. Carline, 89, a resident of Franklin and native of Baldwin, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 8 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a long illness.
He is survived by his spouse, Blanche Ceaser Carline of Franklin; two daughters, Deborah Carline Stroud (Rudolph) of Brandon, Florida and Ashley Nicole Carline of Ashton; one brother, Herman Carline of Baldwin; three sisters, Ocie C. Henry of Jeanerette, Helen C. Lee of New Orleans and Elva Lee C. Perry of Baltimore, Maryland; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be observed Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Baldwin.
Funeral rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church. Interment
will follow in the Greater New Hope Cemetery.

ALYSSA MICHELLE CASE
Alyssa Michelle Case was born Nov. 8, 1988, and died May 29, 2002.
She was born and lived in Morgan City for 11 years and attended Holy Cross (Morgan City) and Berwick elementary schools. She has been a resident of Lafayette for the last two years and attended St. Cecilia School.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Jean and Bert Cantrell, both of Lafayette; her father, Ron Case of Bayou Vista; three sisters, Bobbie Case of Morgan City, and Ashley Doiron and Abbie Cantrell, both of Lafayette; a brother, Camron Case of Bayou Vista; her maternal grandmother, Mary Bouterie Breaux of Thibodaux; paternal grandfather Larry Case of Patterson; and a special friend, Dustin Minchew.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Joseph Bouterie, and her paternal grandmother, Lynda Hebert Case.
She was a seventh grade honor student this year at St. Cecilia and an avid reader who loved to dance and cheer.
Family visitation will be Sunday, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Public visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Visitation will resume Monday, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
Funeral services Monday will begin at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.
Pallbearers will be Ree Case, Rob Case, Nicholas Bouterie, Michael Bouterie, Blake Mouret and Andre Bougni.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the scholarship fund set up in memory of Alyssa at Central Catholic High School in Morgan City.
Books also may be donated to the St. Cecilia School library in Alyssa's name.

Ivy David "Mann" Concienne, 70, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died at 10:50 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Migues Concienne of Jeanerette; a son, Jed Concienne and wife, Rona, of Franklin; five daughters, Pam Aucoin and husband, Barry of Shadyside, Lisa Concienne of Euless, Texas, Sharon Caviness and husband J.T. of Franklin, Dawn Martin and husband Billy of Centerville and Becky Concienne of Centerville; two sisters, Wonderland Campbell and Ramona Boudreax, both of Franklin; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mr. Concienne was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Concienne and Ida Angela Dupuis Concienne; three brothers, A.C., Daniel and Charles Ray Concienne; and two sisters, Violet Bodin and Helen Ashley.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary. Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday at Little Pass Baptist Church in Charenton with interment
to follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville. The Revs. Bobby Hodnett and Jason Lupo will officiate.
