HUGH VARNON DYKES
Hugh Varnon Dykes, 81, a native of Noble, La. and resident of Centerville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at 12:17 p.m., at Dauterive Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Josie Hanagriff Dykes of Centerville; three daughters, Elizabeth Beter and Kimberly Bergeron, both of Mandeville, and Lynn Dodds of Carencro; one sister, Laverne Ackel of Oakdale; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by his father, David Dykes; mother, Pearl Dykes; four brothers; and one sister.
He was a member of the Franklin Lodge #557-F & AM Masons, Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church of Franklin, president of the Centerville Presbyterian Foundation, member of Woodmen of the World, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Golden Age organization and received the St. Mary Parish AARP Citizen of the Month Award.
Mr. Dykes served as a member of the United States Navy in World War II and had retired from Cabot Corporation after 35 years of service.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Centerville Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church. Pat Wadesworth will officiate. Interment will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Centerville Presbyterian Foundation.
Arrangements entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

ANDRIEL (ANGIE) FELTON
Andriel (Angie) Felton, 38, a resident and native of Franklin, died Thursday, July 15, 2003, at 4:15 p.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia, following a long illness.
She is survived by her parents, John and Veronica Felton of Franklin; grandparents, Francis Tillman of Franklin and Lillie Madison of Franklin; two sons, DeMarkus "Dee Dee" Felton and Jerric "Lil Jerry" Felton, both of Franklin; one daughter, Jenee' "Nae" Felton of Franklin; one brother, James "Lil John" Felton of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Lionel (Paula) Jones Jr., Mrs. Nathan (Hope) Craft, both of Franklin, and Mrs. Kevin (Pam) Smith of St. Martinville; two grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends, and a very special friend, Svella Mouton.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the House of Prayer in Franklin.
Funeral rites will be read Saturday, at 2 p.m., at that church. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery .
The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

MARY HAWKINS FINE
Mrs. Mary Parker Hawkins Fine, 58, a resident and native of Verdunville, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at 12:59 a.m., at Leonard Chabert Medical Center in Houma, following a short illness
She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Fine of Franklin; mother, Tempie Kirt Parker of Verdunville; one son, Jadon Hawkins of Lake Charles; three daughters, Valerie J. Weber and Dianna James of Franklin and Twana Mathews of Hampton, Virginia; four brothers, John Parker Jr. and Timothy Parker of Patterson, Charles Parker of Centerville and Adolph Parker Sr. of Houma; two sisters, Mary Stansberry and Rev. Rosie Austin of Verdunville; and 22 grandchildren.
Mrs. Fine was preceded in death by her father, her first husband one brother.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. Interment will follow in the Little Zion Cemetery in Verdunville.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

Junius Joseph "Red" Granger Sr.
Junius Joseph "Red" Granger Sr., 84, a native of St. Martinville and a resident of Youngsville died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at 4 a.m. at his son's residence.
Granger was a retired equipment operator for the St. Mary Parish Police Jury. He was a member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and an avid deer hunter. Mr. Granger loved Cajun music and was often seen dancing on Bon Temps Rouler.
He is survived by three sons, Junius Granger Jr. and his wife Verna, of Franklin; Gene Granger and his wife, Sissy, of Youngsville, and Olan Granger and his wife, Sheryl, of St. Martinville; five daughters, Mary Franks and her husband, George, of Breaux Bridge, Barbara Ann Granger Landry and her husband, Fred J. Landry, of San Antonio, Texas, Necia Prosper and her husband, Merlin, of St. Martinville, Helen Granger of Duson, and Liz Lancon and her husband, Hansel, of Abbeville; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 20 step-great grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren.
Granger was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Copp Granger; his parents, Laodice and Marie Blanchard Granger; four brothers, Simon, Dewey, Stanley and Louis Granger; a granddaughter, Lisa Maturin; a great-grandson, Luke Olivier and a step great-granddaughter, Ariel Lancon.
Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 20, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Homes of New Iberia, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral home reopened Saturday at 8 a.m. and funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Austin Leger officiating. Interment was in the St. Michael's Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Fraise and Scott Granger, Lee Franks, Wayne Maturin, Barry Granger and Blake Wiltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Franks, Orie Granger, Jerry Franks and Jim Franks.
The Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia was in charge of arrangements.

HARRY GREEN SR.
Mr. Harry Green Sr., 52, a resident and native of Franklin, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at 6:45 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Joycelyn Fernandez Green of Franklin; his mother, Mrs. Annie Jackson Green of Franklin; two sons, Harry J. Green Jr. of Homer, La. and Brian Green of Franklin; one daughter, Stacy Green of Franklin; four brothers, Wilson Brown Jr. of Baldwin, Roy D. Green of Waterloo, Iowa, Herman and Lynn Green, both of Franklin; five sisters, Gerandine Brown and Doris Green Starks, both of Waterloo, Iowa, Joyce Green Johnson and Sandra Green, both of Franklin, and Celeste Stansbury of Las Vegas, Nevada; and six grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Otis Mortuary Chapel.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. Clarence Stewart will officiate. Interment will follow in the Main Street Cemetery in Franklin.

BRO. MOSES GRIMM SR.
Bro. Moses Grimm Sr., a resident of Franklin and native of the Katy Plantation, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 6:40 p.m., at his residence.
Bro. Grimm was the youngest child born to Louisa M. Baker Grimm and William Grimm Sr.
He was united in marriage to the late Sis. Mary F. Keys Grimm. To this union, ten children were born: four daughters, Flora B. Harris of Baldwin, Brenda Jackson (Andrew) of Jeanerette, Glenda F. Grimm of Baldwin, Cathy Eave (Gary) of Franklin; six sons, Moses Grimm Jr. of Franklin, Robert Grimm (Frances), and Larry Grimm of Franklin, Warren Grimm of Atlanta, Georgia, Rev. Donald R. Grimm (Karen) of Baldwin and Rev. Benjamin Grimm (Vanessa) of Jeanerette; three grandchildren Bro. Grimm and Sis. Grimm reared, Alfred Harris Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Yolanda H. Vital of Opelousas and Lakeisha Harding of Baldwin; two godchildren, Diane Roberson and Hazel Kinchen; one sister-in-law, Catherine Burrell of Laurel, Maryland; 27 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bro. Grimm was preceded in death by his late wife, Sis. Mary F. Keys Grimm; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Grimm Sr.; two brothers; five sisters; and one grandson, Moses Grimm III.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel.
Dismissal will be Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.

ROBERT GUY JR.
Mr. Robert Guy Jr., 49, a resident and native of Franklin, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 8:10 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital, following a short illness.
He is survived by three sons, Robert E. Chevis and Roderick, both of Baton Rouge, and Travis L. Chevis of Franklin; two daughters, Chantell Hunter of Montgomery, Alabama and Celestine Janae Chevis of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Rodney (Tammy) Guy of Baton Rouge and Louis (Stella) Darby of Franklin; six sisters, Barbara (Rev. Robert L.) Johnson, Cheryl (Michael) Lewis, Gwendolyn (Lawrence) Bowie and Sandra (Wesley) Dumas, all of Franklin, Patria (Anderson "AJ") Singleton of Lafayette and Lorris (Min. Michael) Kelly of Kaplan.
Visitations were observed Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the St. Stephen Baptist Church.
Burial rites were read Friday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Kevin Jenkins officiated. Interment followed in the Nazarene Baptist Church Cemetery in Verdunville.

WILLIAM J. HAWKINS SR.
Mr. William James Hawkins Sr., 64, a resident of Charenton and native of Opelousas, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at 11:40 a.m., at his residence following a short illness.
He is survived by his wife, Elnora Tayler Hawkins of Charenton; four sons, Curtis Hawkins and Christopher Hawkins of Charenton, William James Hawkins Jr. of Baldwin and Terroni Dominick of Avery Island; two daughters, Felicia Hawkins and Stephanie Hawkins of Charenton; two brothers, J.C. Hawkins and Herman Vilo of Jeanerette; one sister, Brenda Tillman of Baldwin; and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitations will be observed Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Tuesday, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Charenton.

EMILE H. HAYDEL JR.
Emile H. Haydel Jr., 80, a native of Jeanerette and resident of Franklin, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at 11 p.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
He is survived by four sons, Glenn Haydel and his wife, Cherie, of Broussard, Greg Haydel and his wife, Sandra, of Franklin, Kendell Haydel and his wife, Tina, of Sorrell and Johnny Haydel and his wife, Sidney, of Franklin; one daughter, Charmaine Liner and her husband, Raymond Jr., of Franklin; two brothers, Sitges Haydel and Johnny Haydel, both of Franklin; one sister, Blanche Boudreaux of Franklin; 15 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Haydel was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Belle Theriot Haydel; father, Emile Haydel Sr.; mother, Virginia Broussard Haydel; one grandson, Raymond Liner III; five brothers, Hinton (Teen) Haydel, Oren (Bubba) Haydel, Hardy Haydel, Rufus Haydel and Edsel Haydel; and two sisters, Ada H. Cobb and Virginia Senette.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary.
The mortuary will reopen Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 9 a.m. to service time.
Service will be Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at Ibert's Mortuary. The Rev. Brad Bullock will officiate. Interment will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary.

Michel "Mitch" Hebert
One of Franklin's most decorated war veterans and respected businessman, Michel "Mitch" Hebert, is being laid to rest today with full military honors.
Hebert, 90, a native of Patoutville and resident of Franklin since 1943, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at 9:36 p.m., at his residence.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served as a radio operator in Europe during World War II. He was a prisoner of war for 12' months.
Mr. Hebert was captured by the Germans during what would have been his 50th and last mission with the 97th Bomber Group of the 15th U.S. Air Force, before he was to be returned stateside. A fire on board the bomber forced Hebert along with the other airmen to jump out near the Danube River. With his face swollen and bleeding from injuries sustained from his parachute cords, Hebert was immediately picked up by the Germans and transported by boxcar to Stalag VII A, a prisoner of war camp at Moosburg, Germany, 22 miles northeast of Munich. It would be 12' months later that Gen. George S. Patton would stride into the war camp at the end of April 1945 during the liberation of Moosburg.
Hebert returned to Franklin after being discharged from the military with honors and went on the establish Hebert Insurance Agency.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley King Senette Hebert of Franklin; four sons, Michel "Skip" Hebert Jr. of Franklin, Robert Louis "Bobby" Hebert of Harvey, Alan T. "Tim" Hebert of Franklin and William "Billy" Hebert of Lafayette; two daughters, Sandra Lee Hebert of Napoleonville and Jill H. Mire of Franklin; two brothers, Freddie and James Hebert, both of New Iberia; four sisters, Julia Stevens of Baldwin, Elmae Pesson of New Iberia, Lucy Judice of Jeanerette and Clara Jean Palmer of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Hebert was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynda H. Case; father, Sidney Hebert Sr.; mother, Julia H. Hebert; three brothers, Sidney Hebert Jr., Nelson Hebert and Desire' Hebert; four sisters, Marguerite Hebert, Anette Ladouceur, Maude Hebert and Ella Hebert; and one great granddaughter, Alyssa Michelle Case.
Mr. Hebert was a member of the American Legion Post 63, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary.
Service was Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption. Father Michael Russo officiated. Interment followed in the Franklin Cemetery.
Fort Polk Casualty Army Command conducted full military burial honors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

CLARENCE HIGGINS SR.
Clarence "Tippy" Higgins Sr., 73, a native of Jeanerette and resident of Patterson, died May 29, 2002, at 11:40 p.m., at River West Medical Center in Plaquemine.
He is survived by four sons, Clarence Higgins Jr. of Franklin, Steven Ray Higgins and Larry Michael Higgins, both of Amelia, and Bobby Higgins of Houma; two daughters, Judy Mae Orgeron of Amelia, and Alice Callahan of Houma; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a close companion, Mary Blankenship.
Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Lombus Higgins; and his parents, Fred Higgins and Alice Bussy Higgins.
Visitation was held Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary.
The mortuary reopened Friday, at 8 a.m., to service time.
Service will be Friday, at 2 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
