Rev. Proctor Everett Phillips
The Rev. Proctor Everett Phillips, 87, was born to James Alfred and Minnie Lee Ward Phillips on Oct. 4, 1915 at home in the Suwannee Station community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak. He passed away Aug. 1, 2003.
He was the former pastor of the Rosemary and Suwannee Station Baptist Churches and served as the interim pastor for churches all over Suwannee County. His grandfather was founder of the Suwannee Station Baptist Church.
He farmed, owned and operated a store at Suwannee Springs and worked as a Florida State Inspector for 25 years. He was president of the Senior Citizens Club for six terms and president of the AARP Chapter of Live Oak. He was a Master Mason Chaplain of the Barrett Lodge.
He is survived by: Thelma McKnight Phillips, his wife of 63 years; three daughters, Elleanor Barbieri of Melbourne, Minnie Hutchison and Gloria Sullivan, both of Live Oak; one half-brother, Sidney Phillips; two half-sisters, Jeannie Withers of Tallahassee and Jamie Anderson of Tampa; one granddaughter, five grandsons, two great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Rufus Phillips; sisters, Julia Kendrick, Lola Robinson, Edna Raulerson and Jimmie Lee Nimo and one grandson, Chuck Lang.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Live Oak, on Aug. 4, with the Rev. Jim Robinett officiating. Interment
followed at the Live Oak Cemetery.

Theresa L. Barfield
Theresa L. Barfield Thompson passed away July 31, 2003 in Miami. Mrs. Thompson was a native of Madison. She is survived by: her husband, Berthel Thompson Jr.; three daughters, Carla Thompson Gallon, Corenthia Thompson and Bertha Thompson; two sons, Sean Anthony and Wallace E. Thompson; seven grandchildren; parents, Lucille Bryant and James Bryant; mother and father-in-law, Henritta and Berthel Thompson Sr.; devoted aunt, Inez Rowe, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Theresa L. Barfield Thompson will be held at 3 p.m., Aug. 9, in the Ebenezer A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Aug. 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Udell Funeral Home.

Ida Hatfield McCoy
Ida Hatfield McCoy, 85, of Burnwell, Ky., passed away, August 3, 2003, at the ARH Skilled Nursing Facility in South Williamson, Ky. She was born, Nov. 1, 1917, to Hazard and Gypsy Boyd Hatfield in Buskirk, Ky. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, Chattaroy, W.Va.
Survivors include: six sons, Vernon Henry McCoy of Jasper, George Clarence (Jane) McCoy of Lexington, S.C., Franklin Marshall (Anita) McCoy of Burnwell, Ky., Lonnie L. (JoAnn) McCoy of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry Phillip (Teddie) McCoy of Punta Gorda and David William (Diana) McCoy of Burnwell, Ky.; two daughters, Mildred Jane (Winston) Bass of Live Oak and Martha M. (Danny) Harvel of Turkey Creek, Ky.; one brother, Ralph Hatfield of Buskirk, Ky.; three sisters, Nellie Mae (Jimmy) DeHart of Blaine, Ky., Daisy Burgraff of Buskirk, Ky. and Boots Pemberton of Delaware; special sister-in-law, Gertrude Stacy of Buskirk, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband, George Clarence McCoy; three brothers, Robert, George and Blaine Hatfield; two sisters, Ruth Huff and Mary Jane Whitt and a daughter, Linda G. Lott.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Aug. 6, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky., with the Rev. Jerry McCoy, the Rev. Kenneth Hall and the Rev. Lonnie Francis officiating. Interment
will follow in the Family Cemetery, Burnwell, Ky.

John Elwood Reeves
John Elwood Reeves, 74, died at his home in Live Oak on July 31, 2003, following a long battle with cancer. Mr. Reeves was born on Sept. 19, 1928 in Cherry Hill, N.J. He came to Florida from New Jersey in 1940. Mr. Reeves worked as an executive chef. Later he worked in landscaping. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, was in the Navy during World War II and was on the Board of Directors at the Suwannee-Hamilton Technical Center.
Mr. Reeves is survived by: his wife, Billie Reeves of Live Oak. He had one brother and one sister. He was father to nine children and "Pop Pop" to 37 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Tabernacle Baptist School, P.O. Drawer T, Gold Kist Bend, Live Oak, FL 32060.
Cremation arrangements were by ICS Cremation, Lake City.
Luease Carver
Luease Carver, 85, of Branford, passed away Aug. 1, 2003 at Shands at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville. Mrs. Carver lived in Branford most of her life and worked for the Sunland Training Center in Gainesville for 20 years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 112 of Branford.
Survivors include: her husband, Eron Whitlock Carver of Branford; one daughter, Wynelle Durden of Gainesville; one son, Eron "E.J." Carver of Branford; one brother, Eathan Porter of Fort White; one sister, Lucille Roberts of Orlando; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Aug. 4, at the Daniels Memorial Chapel in Branford with the Rev. Paul Halloran and the Rev. Carlos Perez officiating. Interment
followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Edith MacMurdo
Edith MacMurdo, 85, of Live Oak, passed away Aug. 4, 2003 in her home. The Red Rock, Ark. native moved to Live Oak from Green Cove Springs in 1995 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sharon Clayton, O'Brien; her son, John Murphy, Steator, Ill.; two sisters, Donna Goodroll, Auburn, Ill. and Gladys F. Harms, Amissville, Va.; two brothers, Bobby Buchanan, Payson, Ariz. and Billy Buchanan, Green Cove Springs; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services were conducted at 7 p.m., Aug. 5, at Daniels Memorial Chapel, Live Oak. Interment
will follow at a later date at Auburn, Ill.
