Judge David E. Bembry
udge David E. Bembry, 57, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004 at his residence. Bembry was born December 11, 1946 to the late Edgar and Jewell Smith Bembry. The Hamilton County native was a graduate of Jasper High School and served two years in the United States Marine Corps. He received his under-graduate degree and Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University. On March 31, 1973 he married Joanne Smith and worked in private practice until he was elected Hamilton County Judge in Sept. of 1978, a position he has held since that time. Bembry was a dedicated member of St. Therese Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Bembry, Jasper; two sons, Andrew E. Bembry, Seattle, WA and Adam Ross Bembry, Valdosta, GA.; two brothers, Elwin Bembry, Nashville, TN and Shelton Bembry, Atlanta, GA.; two sisters, Evelyn Bembry, Fayetteville, Ark and Iris Berry, Alexandria, VA.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, March 31 at St. Therese Catholic Church near Jasper. Interment
followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions were made to Hospice of the Suwannee Valley, 618 SW Florida Gateway Dr., Lake City, FL 32024 or to St. Therese Catholic Church, P. O. Box 890, Jasper, FL 32052.

Robert D. Staudigl, Sr.
Robert D. Staudigl, Sr., 59, of Lake Park, GA., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in a Gainesville hospital. Mr. Staudigl was a member of Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the US Navy having served for 10 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanne Staudgil of Lake Park, GA., four sons, Robert (Mirla) Staudigl of Pembroke Pines, George (Jennifer) Ehling of Statenville, GA., Jeffrey (Margaret) Ehling of Houston, TX. and Peter (Teresa) Schopfer of McDonough, NY; three sisters, Elaine Staudigl of Orlando, Patricia Giovansanti of Staten Island, NY and Laura Staudigl of Staten Island, NY and nine grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Friday, April 2, 2004 in the Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregory Lee officiating.

Lee David Ball
Lee David Ball, 62, of Jasper, died Friday, April 2, 2004, in a Valdosta Hospital. Mr. Ball was a native of Nashville, GA and had been a resident of Hamilton County since 1975. He retired from PCS in 2001 after 26 years and served in the US Army for 6 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Sarah Ball of Jasper; three sons, David Ray Ball of Vancouver, WA., James Edward Ball of Hahira, GA. and Charlie Ball of Jasper; four daughters, Daphne Coleman of Hattiesburg, MS., Priscilla Wilson of Vancouver, WA., Kelinda Hughes of Jasper, and Sheila Gonzalez of Jasper and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 4 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Hill officiating.
Interment
followed in Vickers Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien Co., GA.

Herman J. Frier, Jr.
Herman J. Frier, Jr., age 43, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Shands of Live Oak. He was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette County, FL, and the son of the late Herman J. Frier, Sr. and the late Minnie O. Thomas. He owned and operated Frier's Air Conditioning in Mayo.
Mr. Frier was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Riverside Baptist Church. He served with the Lafayette County Sheriff's Dept., and served on the Contractors Building Board, he coached sports in the little league football, and was very active with the youth in Mayo. He was also a member of the FFA Alumni, and the Quarterback Club.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Teresa Frier of Mayo. Other survivor include: a son, Quinn Frier of Mayo, (2) brothers; James Frier, of St. Petersburg and John Thomas, of Mayo, (1) sister; Gracie Whitehurst of Tampa and (2) Step-sisters; Linda and Judy, a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Riverside Baptist Church in Mayo, with Bro. Ted Rushing, Bro. Ricky Lyons and Bro. Bruce Branche officiating. Interment
followed at the Riverside Church Cemetery. Family received friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Burns Mayo Chapel.

John Oliver "Jack" McLeod
John Oliver "Jack" McLeod, 78, of Live Oak, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004, in his home after a long illness. The Suwannee County native moved to Live Oak from Perry in 1984, retired after 32 years as a supervisor at Procter and Gamble "Buckeye," Perry and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth McLeod, Live Oak; three sons, John D. (Margie) McLeod, Destry McLeod and Kevin (Denise) McLeod, all of Live Oak; two sisters, Myrtice Boyer, Keystone Heights and Stella Butler, Callahan; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, April 2, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Wellborn with the Rev. Lewis Gooch officiating.

Eva "Granny" Robinson
Eva "Granny" Robinson, 84, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Spring Season of Elkhart. She was born in April 19, 1919 in Moultrie, Ga. to Buddy and Rebecca Kelly.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Warren, Texas. Robinson was a retired cook for the Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park, after 15 years of services. She also worked as a line canner at Kraft Foods. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Clarence James Robinson.
Survivors include: a daughter, Carol Robinson of Palestine, Texas; a son Lawrence and wife Barbara Jane of Palestine, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 1, at Bailey & Foster Chapel, Palestine, Texas with the Rev. Willie Reagan officiating. Burial followed in Ferguson Cemetery.

George "Pete" Yatros
George "Pete" Yatros, 63, of Live Oak, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004 in his home after a short illness. The Detroit, Michigan native moved to Live Oak from Hollywood, FL., in 1990, worked as a custodian in the Suwannee Middle School in Live Oak since 1992, was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Moose Lodge in Lake City and was of the Greek orthodox faith.
Survivors include his wife: Jane L. Yatros, Live Oak, FL.; his mother: Maria Yatros, Trenton, MI.; one daughter: Jennifer Rodopoulos, Taylor, MI.; two sons: Anthony Yatros, Taylor, MI. and Nicholas Yatros, Southgate, MI.; one sister: Kelley Grantham, Fountain Hills, AZ.; one brother Nick Yatros, Higgins Lake, MI.; six grandchildren.

Myrtle Bly DuPre
Myrtle Bly DuPre, 91, of Dowling Park, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in the Lake City Medical Center after short illness. The Greensboro, Fl native lived in Dowling Park 12 years and in Live Oak 52 years.
Mrs. DuPre retired after 40 years as owner/operator of DuPre's Department Store in Live Oak, was active in the Woman's Club, Live Oak Garden Club and bridge club and was a member of First Baptist Church, Live Oak, where she attended the Gleaners Sunday School class.
Survivors include her daughter: Mabel (Ned) Moorehead, Lake City, Fl.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. DuPre was preceded in death by her husband, Harry N. DuPre and son, William E. DuPree.
There will be a memorial service Friday, April 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Bixler Chapel at Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park, Fl. Graveside services were conducted Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Robinett and the Rev. Ron Thomas officiating.

Claudia B. Thompson, 89, of Live Oak, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in the Suwannee Health Care Center, Live Oak, Fl. The Suwannee County native was a homemaker and a member of Orange Baptist Church in Live Oak.

Edward White, 61, Live Oak, passed away Friday, August 2, in Shands at Live Oak Hospital after a long illness. The Cairo, Ga. native moved to Live Oak from Callahan, Fla. in 1981.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired after 14 years as project administrator with Watkin's Engineering and Construction in Tallahassee, was co-owner of White's Country Cabin Restaurant, Orange Park, Fla. and owner of Ed White's Poultry Farm, Live Oak, Fla. Mr. White was a member of the Carpenters union and a member of Southside Baptist Church, Live Oak, Fla.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty White of Live Oak, Fla; his mother, Madelyn Bentley of Live Oak, Fla.; one daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Rogers of Trenton, Fla.; two sons, Jason (Vicki) White and Jeffery (Amanda) White, both of Live Oak, Fla.; five sisters, Barbara (John) Lucero, Florahome, Fla., Marie Hayes, Wanda (Acie) Tew, and Wilma Jean (J.C.) Cooley, all of Lake Park, Ga., and Nancy (Jerry) Jenkins, Live Oak, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Linda White, Orange Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Austin & Garrett White, Live Oak, Fla. and Candace Rogers, Houston, Texas and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. White was preceded in death by his father, James Edward White, his brother, Jack H .White and step-father Leo "Swede" Bentley.

John Douglas Noble, Sr.
Sept. 5, 1913-July 18, 2002
John Douglas Noble, Jr. died of natural causes on July 18, 2002 in Reno, Nevada.
Mr. Noble Jr. was born in Jacksonville, Fla. September 5, 1913. He attended grammar and high school in Live Oak, Fla. and graduated from the University of Florida with an LLB in 1937. He was a member of the bars of Florida, Alaska and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He was in federal service for 30 years, including duty in South America and the Middle East. He was an FBI agent in Springfield, Illinois, Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Alaska.
During World War II, he was provost marshal for the Sixth Air Force and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant-colonel.
From 1952-54, Mr. Noble Jr. was the director of public safety for the government of Guam.
The last six years of his 20-year service with the Central Intelligence Agency were spent in Washington D.C. as a special Agent-in-Charge of the Agency's largest investigative field office.
Immediately following retirement from federal service in February 1969, he was appointed General Manager of Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies, Inc., in Washington D.C., where he served until 1973, when he moved to Reno, Nevada, with his wife, Marie. He became vice-president of International Travel Associates, Inc., in Reno and Carson City.
In Reno, he was a member of the Prospectors Club and of the International Visitors Council. He was a distinguished president of the Reno Kiwanis Club and became lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division 23. He was treasurer and served on the board of directors of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Retired Officers Association. He was a past chairman of the Air Force Association and served two terms as secretary of the Nevada Chapter of Former FBI Agents and a life member of the International Association of Chief's of Police. He was a director and past president of the Reno Chapter of the Air Force Association and served two terms as secretary of the Nevada State Chapter of the AFA.
Mr. Noble's past affiliations included the National Press Club in Washington D.C., the Circumnavigators Club (after having gone around the world) and the Travelers Century Club (having visited more than 100 countries). He was a Knight of Malta, Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
In spring 2002, he was bestowed an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by the University of Nevada, Reno.
Surviving are: brother-in-law William D. Alonzo of Auburn, Calif.; nephew William B. Alonzo of Richmond, Calif.; niece Jean Courtney of Vacaville, Calif.; great-nieces Suzanne Baron of Petaluma and Kathleen Garcia of San Ramon; and two great-great-nieces and a great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie.
At his request, no services were held.

Glenn Griffis Williams Sr., 60, a resident of Wellborn, Fla. died, Sunday, August 4, 2002 in Lake City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Wellborn, Fla. and was the son of the late Luther Virgil & Elsie Willeve Wade Williams. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Wellborn Baptist Church. Mr. Williams is survived by: his wife, Martha Jane Williams, Wellborn, Fla.; two sons, Glenn G. Williams Jr. (Melissa), Lake City, Fla. and Steven V. Williams (Misty), Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Terri Thomas (John), Wellborn, Fla.; one brother, James Clarence (J.C.) Williams (Linda) Lake City Fla.; one sister, Lula Elizabeth (Sis) Dennard, Lake City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Autumn Williams, Marisa Richardson, Sebastian Williams, Heather Thomas and Carla Thomas.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted for Mr. Williams Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating. Marie J. Porter, 77, of Dowling Park, passed away Friday, August 2, in the Good Samaritan Center, Dowling Park. The Lakeland, Fla. native lived most of her life in Live Oak, moved to Dowling Park from Alapaha, Ga. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Live Oak.
Survivors include: three daughters, Gail P. (David) Powell, Alapaha, Ga., Janis E. (Stephen) Byrd of Live Oak, Fla., and Ginni P. (Randy) Lamb of Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, James J. (Betty) Jones Jr. of Crystal River, Fla. and Joseph C. (Janice) Jones of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband, John G. Porter; daughter, Johnie Lee Anderson and granddaughter, Casey Joy Lamb.

Vivian Lucinda Reeves, 70, of O'Brien, passed away Nov. 23, 2003 in her home after a short illness. The Tifton, Ga. native moved to O'Brien from St. Petersburg 14 years ago, was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Live Oak.
Survivors include: her husband, Charles W. "Chuck" Reeves, O'Brien; one daughter, Gail(Vincent) O'Brien, Jacksonville; one son, Michael (Stacie) White, St. Petersburg; son-in-law, James Chittenden, O'Brien; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Chittenden.

Grace M. Epling, 79, of Live Oak, passed away Nov. 23, 2003 in Shands at Live Oak Hospital after a long illness. The Raven Rock, N.J. native moved to Live Oak from Big Pine Key in 1985, was a cook and a member of Melody Christian Life Church, Live Oak.
Survivors include: three daughters, Rose Newell, Live Oak, Theodora Slack, Salorsburg, Pa. and Grace M. Mount, Marathon; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
