Bobby "Tate" T. Hill

Bobby “Tate” T. Hill, 65, of Ooltewah, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at East Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga.
A son of the late Robert Lee and Reba Hill, he was a member of the New Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Hill of Ooltewah; one son, Bobby Taylor Hill II of Ooltewah; four daughters, Cindy Brown of Athens, Sherry Jenkins and Gayla Hill, both of Alexandria, Va., and Marleta Hill of Ooltewah; two step-daughters, Connie Ashenfelter of Decatur and Darlene Wooden of Dayton; one brother, Marvin Hill of Manasses, Va.; three sisters, Leta Childs of Decatur, Marlene Daniels of Front Royal, Va. and Jane Hill of Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Cravatt officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Ooltewah.

John Garland Click, 51, of Delano, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Ashland, Ky. and a former resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Theodore and Myrtle Click. A brick mason and a former employee of the Summit Federal Penitentiary in Ashland, Ky., he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Click.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Autumn Click of Englewood; one granddaughter, Aryn Click of Englewood; a former wife, Shirley Farmer of Athens; and one sister, Corine Steele of Ashland, Ky.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood.
There will be no formal visitation.

Agnew Moore
Died: 11/01/1999
Agnew Moore, 41, of Athens, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he had been employed with David Pueirtt Scrap Metal and was a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church. A son of the late Arlin and Euvella Mable Jenkins Moore Jr., he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Ray Moore; and one sister, Jacqueline Moore.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Angela Proctor of Athens; two daughters, Tessa Nicole Moore and Keisha Ann Moore of Athens; three brothers, Adrian Moore of Meigs County, Bobby Moore of Wayne County and David Allen Moore of Athens; one sister, Alfreda Moore of Athens; a nephew, Matthew Moore of Athens; a great-nephew, Devante Moore of Athens; two great-nieces, Yasmeen Brown and Madison Freeman, both of Athens; and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Big Springs Cemetery with Dr. John D. Howell Sr., officiating.

Essie Renda Bell Farris Derrick

Essie Renda Bell Farris Derrick, 89, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, in a local nursing facility.
A daughter of the late Will and Mary Lingerfelt Farris, she was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clifford Derrick; two daughters, Louise Derrick and Floura Ledford; one sister, Margaret Bishop; and two brothers, Leonard Farris and Walter Farris.
Survivors include two daughters, Irene Crowe of Cleveland and Gladys Morris of Honey Grove, Texas; three sons, William “Bill” Derrick, Robert “Bob” Derrick Sr., both of Cleveland and Lynn Derrick of Benton; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Taylor, Nell Parris and Ruth Campbell, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Lake Walker, the Rev. Richard McKeehan and the Rev. Luther Eslinger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Norman Howard Elmer Rekittke
Died: 11/02/1999
Norman Howard Elmer Rekittke, 94, of Athens, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was a former resident of Warren, Ohio. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on South Congress Parkway in Athens and was a retired steel worker.
A son of the late William and Anna Salesky Rekittke, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hopkins Rekittke on April 20, 1995; one sister, Alma Brown; and one stepbrother, Edward Brocknow.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce A. Rekittke and his wife, Eileen, of Athens and Herman K. Rekittke of Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Athens with Ted Lewis officiating.

Reba Stephens Powers, 83, of Athens, died Monday night, Nov. 1, 1999, at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah.
A native of Tellico Plains and a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Callie Miller Stephens and was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Powers; a son, Steve Powers; and a son-in-law, Henry Helton.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Powers Helton of Maryville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Joyce Powers of Athens; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hugh Stephens Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman and the Rev. Greg McCosh officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ricky Powers, Scott Helton, Mike Helton, Jeff Helton, Chris Clark and Rick Shadrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Helton, Wesley Trotter and Chad Trotter.
The body will be in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Doc Womac

Doc Womac, 85, of Athens, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Woods Memorial Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late William Edward and Mary Ada Moss Womac, and was preceded in death by his wife, Iowa Teague Bledsoe Womac on April 25, 1999.
He was a member of Sanford Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Ann and Chris Hampton of Etowah; four grandchildren, Christopher Hampton, Kelsey Hampton, Keely Hampton and Katlyn Hampton; two sisters, Alice Shank and Ethel Womac, both of Etowah; and two brothers, Elic and Jim Womac, both of Athens.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Davis officiating. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Fred Womac, Charles Womac, Rush Guthrie, George Townsend, Mike Allen and William Womac.

Luther Alexander Hampton, 82, of Athens, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999.
A native and resident of McMinn County for most of his life, he was a retired employee of Athens Furniture Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was of the Protestant faith.
A son of the late James Garfield and Alma Blankenship Hampton, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ersa Winkler Hampton in 1970; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Thompson Dorsett Hampton of Athens; one stepdaughter and spouse, Shirley Jeanette D. and Ralph Weems of Hazen, Ark.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A private graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood.

Charles H. "Junior" Coleman

Charles H. “Junior” Coleman, 74, of Englewood, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native of Farner, he was a resident of McMinn County for 49 years. A son of the late Charlie and Ora Henson Coleman, he was a retired employee of CSX Railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Coleman; and two sisters, Blanche Patton and Alma Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Johnson Coleman of Englewood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Stan Moses of Athens and Frankie and Harold Worley of Blue Ridge, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Coleman of Farner; his grandchildren, Greg and Lacie Moses, Donnie, Dana, Kevin and Michael Coleman, Candy Lowe and Shaye Rogers; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John Coleman of Englewood; one sister, Irene Bearfield of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Watson officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Cochran Cemetery.
